When is a "bald case" not a bald case? When the Andrew Sullivan Metaphor Mangler is in overdrive. Here we go:
The Bald Racism Of Rush Limbaugh
The image above appears on Rush Limbaugh's Web site. Is any American more adept at exploiting racial dog whistles? It's always egregious enough to be calculatingly offensive, but never quite an open and shut case, because most of all the talk radio host revels in being called a racist so that he can throw up his hands and complain about liberal race-baiting.
Set aside the actual image for a moment and riddle me this - if the image is a "bald" example of racism, how can it also be a "dog whistle" that is not quite "open and shut"? Isn't a bald example totally exposed and unconcealed?
IMHO, the image is not racist at all, but I am a caveman troglodyte righty, not an enlightened lib whatever Sully is calling himself these days.
It must be Groundhog Year if we have recycled back to the notion that all criticism of Obama is racist.
MAYBE THE GREEKS HAVE A WORD FOR IT. As best I can guess, Sully seems to be spinning up the "racist" charge from Limbaugh's suggestion that ""Barack Obama's presidency is graffiti on the walls of American history."
Are all (or even most) graffitti artists black? Taki 183, the granddaddy of them all, seems to be Greek.
You can always tell when someone's calling to racists with a dog whistle. All the liberals bark.

I'm bad at dog-whistles and bald-faced racism. Is the offending image the Mount Rushmore mockery, or the riddler/free Uncle Sam money mockery?
Don't make me open a Sullivan link.
Cordially...

Andrew Sullivan is bald. Rush Limbaugh is bald. Rush Limbaugh is a racist, therefore Andrew Sullivan is racist. This is known as Washington logic, the founder of which is known as Reidistotle.

Another close race decided:
Joe Walsh Wins IL-08 by 297 Votes
Lake County Clerk ^ | 11/16/2010 | ND76
Posted on Tue Nov 16 2010 16:49:23 GMT-0600 (CST) by nd76
The votes are in from Lake County, Illinois, as of 1626 CST, meaning that all votes are now in. The "Northwest Herald" had reported that Cook County's votes were all in, and, at that point, Walsh lead Melissa Bean by 311 votes district wide.
The Lake County Clerk was the last to report. Of the absentees and provisionals, Walsh got 459 votes, for a total countywide of 55,148, and Bean got 473 votes, for a total countywide of 52,025.
This means that Walsh has a 297 vote lead with all votes now counted.
Congratulations to Joe Walsh!!! GOP member #241 of the 112th Congress.
GOP now +62.

I can cut'n'paste too:
Andy Harris was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and currently lives in Cockeysville, Md. He received both his bachelor's degree and medical degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Harris is an anesthesiologist.
He has served as a state senator in the Maryland General Assembly for three terms representing Baltimore and Harford counties. He was last elected to his state Senate seat in 2006.
Harris served 17 years in the United States Naval Reserve, including as commanding officer in the Johns Hopkins Naval Reserve Medical Unit from 1989 through 1992.
Harris also has been an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine, and chief of obstetric anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Hmmm...do I believe the resume of a patriot with a formidable record of academic and professional achievement in medicine, or the tired Alinskyite smears of a drunken plagiarist?
You lose again, cleo, but thanks for pointing out that a fellow Blue Jay made it to Congress. I'll have to keep Dr Harris in mind (Do you suppose he prefers 'doctor', 'professor', 'Commander', or 'Representative'?) for a donation in 2012, unless the progs are too demoralized to even mount a challenge by then.

Just back from stocking up on trip books from the Library.
In the new non-fiction section was startled to see two brand new copies of Conventional Idiocy by ex-CNN moron Rick Sanchez.
At 26 bucks a copy, how the heck is our Library, which is always screaming about budget cuts etc, purchasing 2 brand new copies of this unreadable idiocy, which is listed at $26.00 a copy?
As of 31 Sept Mediaite reported Sanchez's book "...is currently ranked 3,972 on Amazon and 14,307 on Barnes & Noble."
On the Amazon link, there are currently 41 copies available at $2.50 each, and 20 copies available at $1.48.
Gave it about a 5 minute glance through.
I want my 5 minutes back:(
I'm used now to the 2 copies of every Obama book, the twin Al Gore's, the double John Kerry's, the multiple Clintons and Global Warmings and Save the Earth's and all the rest, but 2 copies of fired moron Rick Sanchez, who can't even find Hawaii on a map? Geezus Kay. I don't even want to think about how much waste, fraud and abuse is going on in the bowels of our Nation's Library's. Ughh!

Matt-
We already are the "lender of last resort" to Europe. There are swap lines, in place, to the ECB, by the Fed. The storms over there will, with out fail, be felt here. What comes first will be the question, a spiteful Congress, China's collapse through strangling controls, or Europe trying to kick it all down the road just a few more months.
Oh, and Congress is taking up fresh legislation, this week, to make the foreclosure problem go away, expost facto like. I see no correlations to the 1850's at all.
Or 1907.

Cancun Climate "Change" Conference Clowns
Here's one of the most bald-faced admissions I've ever seen of what a shakedown it is.
"Mexico vows to recover trust for Cancun climate conference"
Source: Xinhua [May 23 2010]
"'The most important thing to do in preparations for the UN climate change conference in Cancun is to recover trust,' Mexican Environment Minister Juan Rafael Elvira Quezada said Friday. 'Many countries in the world "unfortunately lost their trust" after the Copenhagen conference last December,' Elvira told Xinhua in an interview....
He added developed countries and developing countries should first reach a concrete agreement at the upcoming conference, with the former giving the latter the aid they promised to relieve the effects of the climate change.
'The developed countries committed to give 10 billion US dollars, we want to see where the money is ... if we see any signs the developed countries are going to give the aid, we can restore the trust in them during the conference in Cancun,' Elvira said. 'I don't think we can reach a big agreement, if we see no financial aid promise fulfilled when the COP16 (UN climate change conference) opens in Cancun,' Elvira added."
****
So then Elvira visits China who promises him their support in shaking down the West, of course, for their own geopolitical reasons.

You know, all the terrorists have to do is queue up in the security line and set the damn bomb off before they ever reach the scanner or the groper.
It would probably kill and injure as many or more than a plane crashing. It lacks the spectacular plane dropping from the sky visuals, but 3 or 4 or more of these going off would be a bad visual for Napolitano's thugs.
Every boundary the government erects is just another choke point for a bomber to exploit.
Realistically, there should be no security checkpoints in the airport AT ALL. The folks on the plane are the only true security check on the terrorists actions that has a realistic chance of stopping them with no damage. All the rest is just kabuki.

we're their lender of last resort and we're lending them Chinee money. Or is it sovereign wealth funds from the ME? Or God forbid, Russian Mafia money? The big money balloon is deflating, but the medium of exchange itself is suspect.
Bottom line is that the QE and liquidity crisis and inflation are all going to put incredible pressure on paper/electronic currencies. Once it goes whoosh, who and what will we trust? Continental Dollars? Artificially propped RMB (by the way the RE bubble and bank crises there have not yet been dealt with).
Yes, 1907 and 1893 come to mind. Worthless equities at the heart of it but now with sovereign failures galore.

I know, Matt. I just wonder why these oh, so smart security people insist on putting targets ON our backs.
If I were to target Disney, a football game or any airport in the US, I would strap bombs to folks and have them walk right into the middle of the security checkpoint. Point being - the outer marker of any security perimeter is, by definition, the most vulnerable because outside of that perimeter is "non-secured."
If anyone is interested in flying without all the hassles, I suggest Marquis Jet or one of the up and coming corporate jet lines that fly out of smaller airports. No security at all - other than the pilot assessing you before he allows you to board.
We are looking at doing this for spring break. 10 of us on the flight to Key West, and we don't have to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight or subject ourselves to indignities. Many corporate jets are also accepting hitchhikers when they have space.

Porchlight, not only did I guess that was going to be a Joe Walsh tune, I also figured it'd be Funk #49.

How could it be anything else? It was the first thing that I thought of.
Glad we're on the same page. ;)

"what are the possibilities for filing endless ethics complaints against your Evil Lt Gov?"
cathyf,
I may be mistaken but I think that that rule was changed this last Legislative session due to all the stuff that happened to Sara, but even if it wasn't, this guy is gone from office come January and replaced by a guy who so far is a decent Conservative. I just doubt that anything would come of it, especially in this recent climate of Lawless Electioneering. There seems to me to be so much more flagrant stuff being down right out in plain sight that demands looking at, so I just doubt any more Ethics complaints are going to get any sort of attention like they did when they were strategically aimed at trashing Sara Palin.

There is a good thing about being bald. You don't have to loose confidence or lower your morale if you have hair loss. This is just how nature works. There is still beauty in being. I have seen one featured episode in the television about how can you improve your grooming although you are bald. That was really amazing.

The twit from Upper Darby couldn't be bothered
with the truth, namely the domestic partnership vote she did in 2006; my recollection is that they didn't change the
ethics complaint process

"Oh, and Congress is taking up fresh legislation, this week, to make the foreclosure problem go away, expost facto like."
Actually, What they will be voting on will be to end the Rule of Law in the USA, IMO. They just won't call it that.

The Lame Duck session of Congress would have never happened if Congress was a private company. The security guards would have taken their keys and escorted the lame duck Democrats off the Property.

Narciso I was confident you would know and I think you are probably right on that. I remember them saying they were going to look at it, but since it was only used as a tool to destroy Sara I think they just sort of gave it a pass. Thanks for keeping up on all this. Am looking forward to MeFolkes helping to figure this place out. Don't know if you saw that his Ketchikan Rep (former Republican Speaker) is being asked to resign by the local rag down there. Have no idea who owns it, but I can guess where they might get some of their money.

Face it. Bristol is not the dancer that Brandy is. Brandy should have been in the final.
It appears that the vote was political. And enough dance-watching tea parties decided to vote with their Blackberries . . . which should give libs, progs, and the MSM pause... and agita.
The David Brooks and E. J. Dionnes of the world can't abide that tea parties are not organized, but they are unified that government taxes too much, spends too much, meddles to much... and that the Alinsky-smear against the Palins was uncalled for.

Most graffiti artists were, in fact, Latino.
