Jack is Back!

Will TFWOTIUS be writing a letter to the editor taking exception or will Gibbsy be talking to the professional left "like a dog"?

It is starting to dimly dawn on Katrina it's 'not just a flesh wound' so does Venezuela have to attack in order to get the agreement
with Colombia

bet he snaps his ankles trying to make that leap ...

looks like the GOP leadership hit him with a couple of elbows last night ...

If the progs are not being clever, they are totally deranged. Anyone who doesn't understand that Obama has advanced the bureaunanny state as far as it could be advanced at the moment must be deranged. It's not that Obama is failing, it's that bureaunannnyism is not the karma of a self-evident truths polity with folks who, whether or not they have ever studied the background of the Declaration of Independence, understand the vigor and self reliance that a people in a self-evident truths polity must exhibit. I hope that the Obama Administration is the high water mark of the bureaunanny state in America. If that turns out to be the case and the bureaunanny state recedes in the future, the receding will be in spite of, not due to, Obama's efforts.

Captain Hate

Why does anybody take Hurricane Katrina Van den Tranny seriously?

Speaking of androgynes, were Maddow and Olbermann crying in Keef's bathtub last night because they weren't on MessDNC? Not that anybody noticed on the witless protection network.

Did everyone see this orgy entry from the iOTW Second Annual PUK Awards? (There are a lot of good ones.)

Also, an iOTW link to the JOM PUK tribute page, with a god pic of Mr. UK.

"this president must lead the nation from the calamitous failures of three decades of conservative dominance."

Is the left now calling Clinton a conservative?

That limit only applies to what is observable which is why the work on education is both so important and ultimately debilitating.

It's below the radar screen.

You actually have the same ed profs responsible for both the reading and math wars preparing a 2011 summit for new governors, especially the RGA, on how wonderful the new national standards are.

The national standards assume the US is no longer a free market economy and that the federal government controls the economy and will provide all citizens with meaningful work at a living wage.

That's why education is so important to Obama. It's the back door in without being observed.

A Carnegie report I read on the standards actually commented that the US system as a republic had always been an impediment to what was desired in federalizing education but that luckily the 2008 financial crisis had created an opening that the DoED was now able to exploit.

Wasn't it the redoubtable Ms. vanden Heuvel who, when pressed, couldn't even name her own congresscritter last year? Credentialed morons, indeed.

Speaking of wikilwaks, I think the charges against Assange in Sweden, apparently brought by members of a militant group which espouses bringing fake charges against men is offensive and a bad precedent. Either try him for espionage o forget it.

Speaking of questions, not being sufficiently
aired, in the LUN.

I know I am a broken record on this, but I can't believe people are honestly upset that the Democrats aren't going to raise taxes this year, the year they didn't even produce a damn budget.

Is anyone asking why we should allow this?

The original post is at Michelle Malkin's Site.

The Update is Dream Act Update.

The vote is supposed to be held tomorrow. Please help!

I know I am a broken record on this, but I can't believe people are honestly upset that the Democrats aren't going to raise taxes this year, the year they didn't even produce a damn budget

The left is very good at getting out their talking points and the right sucks at it. My guess is all those "honestly upset" people have no idea that there is no budget or have no clue what that means.

Do you honestly think it will pass. The repubs will filibuster no?

Jane, if the Republicans hold it will not pass in my opinion-but who knows whether the Republicans will hold?
I would not have thought the bill to have the federal government take over all farming would have passed but it did.

Just for info, I just called a US federal government insurance claims processing company. The Press 1 for English has changed to press 3 for English. I was so upset I couldn't make out what was the other choice besides Spanish.

Some people ask question, but don't even understand the reason for the answer, in the LUN

so now Assange will buy the farm, when he'd have been fine if he'd just gone with a condominium.

The left is very good at getting out their talking points and the right sucks at it. My guess is all those "honestly upset" people have no idea that there is no budget or have no clue what that means.

I'm guessing it's two fold. Those who just want "the rich" to pay out of some weird animosity. Of course, many of them are rich, and my guess is Katrina VandenHueval will continue to take every tax deduction available to her and her trust fund.

Then there are the poorly informed, who do believe the tax cuts for "the rich" are what stands between here and fiscal responsibility.

Jane (sit on the couch or save your country)

I was so upset I couldn't make out what was the other choice besides Spanish.

I know. Believe me I know. As Rick suggested I'm going to start a 2012 target list, and publish it so we will have all the ammunition when we need it.

"This president has a historic mandate. Just as Abraham Lincoln had to lead the nation from slavery and Franklin Roosevelt from the Depression,"

That's comedy gold, right there! Roosevelt's policies prolonged the depression. Moreover, the depression was so big because it was the bust portion of the first boom/bust cycle the federal reserve created with its easy money policies and mismanagement of the money supply. The first depression was so big because the boom part was so big (the roaring twenties). This occurred just seven years after the fed was created, after over a century of periodic but mild and short lived recessions, which were the norm when we still had sound money. Q: What does that have to do with Roosevelt? A: Roosevelt's philosophical predecessor in the "progressive" movement was Woodrow Wilson, who was responsible for eliminating sound money by way of creation of the federal reserve.

Obama is still dissing republicans at his press conference and neglects to mention that 5 dems voted down his middle class tax cuts that according to him and the dems have been solely for the rich these last 10 years. He is ungracious when he has to compromise and a querolous loser when he doesn't get his way. Sounds like a lefty to me.

As long as he keeps being himself we have little to fear in 2012.

Agreed Ext.

In Chicago, Peggy Noonan, the former Reagan speechwriter who coined Mr. Bush’s ‘’read my lips’’ 1988 campaign promise to resist new taxes, seemed to sum up the delegates’ feelings when she told them, ‘’I truly believe we must not lose the tax issue.’’

- Michael Oreskes article in the July 13, 1990, NYT, quoted in NRO today.

Apropos of nothing, I guess, save that Noonan is well past her sell-by date and starting to mold.

Jane (sit on the couch or save your country)

I think my favorite part of teh press conference was when he said he has accomplished everything he campaigned on - or was in the process of accomplishing that.

Cut to Jim Geraghty posted before the presser.

Guanatanamo Bay is not closed, and will not close. At least 50,000 U.S. troops will remain in Iraq through 2011. There is talk that U.S. troops will remain in Afghanistan through 2014. Rendition will continue. Government wiretapping is expanded, not receded. Obama has refused to release controversial photos that allegedly show detainee abuse. The Obama administration asserts the authority to kill al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists, even ones that are American citizens, without trial. There will be no KSM trial in Manhattan; the administration now sees the wisdom of military tribunals. There have been no summits with the leaders of Iran, or North Korea, or Cuba, or Syria. (Obama met Chavez at a Latin America summit.) Obama’s Middle East peace initiative has gone nowhere, a fool’s errand considering the deep-rooted, longstanding furies and divisions in the region.

Domestically, there will be no Card Check. There will be no cap-and-trade. There will be no amnesty, no DREAM act. The man who denounced Bush’s recess appointments now uses the tool regularly. Bill language isn’t posted online for five days before signed into law. NAFTA will not be renegotiated; new trade deals with countries like South Korea are signed instead. No “windfall profit tax” will be enacted. He has frozen federal workers’ pay. His deficit commission rejected a VAT and proposed a slew of spending cuts that liberals find unacceptable.

Obamacare? The GOP is hell-bent on repealing it. If Obama loses in 2012, it’s gone.

But hey, liberals, cheer up. You got the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Act.

East Bay Jay

OT - Soylent care pkgs.
Great hearing from Soylent, now back at KAF. Matt & I sent out pkgs for Christmas from all of you JOMers.
I'll keep mailing about a package a week.

You can always view the Care Package photo album on my Facebook....I keep it updated with what is going over & I post any news that I know (which isn't much!).
A huge thanks to all you JOMers...ya'll are the best.

Janet, you are the best! how can I get a donation (money) to you?

Faux conservative Joe Scarborough apparently readies a party switch.

Here are a few facts the president apparently does not know:

• Americans don’t favor the Republican position on tax cuts. A CBS News poll out this week shows that only 26 percent of voters favor cutting taxes for people making over $250,000, while 67 percent oppose the Republican plan. A recent AP/CNBC poll showed about the same outcome, with 64 percent of voters against tax cuts for wealthier Americans. Imagine what those numbers would look like if the cutoff was a million dollars.Somehow Obama has gone from being too liberal on the issue of taxes to being too conservative for independent and swing voters.

Hey, Joe? You're an idiot. Nobody is talking about cutting taxes, for anybody. They either go up or stay the same.

From Haaretz:

Top rabbis move to forbid renting homes to Arabs, say 'racism originated in the Torah'

Dozens of Israel's municipal chief rabbis signed on to the ruling, which comes just months after the chief rabbi of Safed initiated a call urging Jews to refrain from renting or selling apartments to non-Jews.

By Chaim Levinson

A numbr of leading rabbis who signed on to a religious ruling to forbid renting homes to gentiles – a move particularly aimed against Arabs – defended their decision on Tuesday with the declaration that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews.

Dozens of Israel's municipal chief rabbis signed on to the ruling, which comes just months after the chief rabbi of Safed initiated a call urging Jews to refrain from renting or selling apartments to non-Jews.

Signatories include the chief rabbis of Ramat Hasharon, Ashdod, Kiryat Gat, Rishon Letzion, Carmiel, Gadera, Afula, Nahariya, Herzliya, Nahariya and Pardes Hannah, among a number of other cities.

"We don't need to help Arabs set down roots in Israel," Rabbi Shlomo Aviner of the Beit El settlement, said on Tuesday. Aviner explained that he supported the move for two reasons: one, a Jew looking for an apartment should get preference over a gentile; and two, to keep the growing Arab population from settling too deeply.

"Racism originated in the Torah," said Rabbi Yosef Scheinen, who heads the Ashdod Yeshiva. "The land of Israel is designated for the people of Israel. This is what the Holy One Blessed Be He intended and that is what the [sage] Rashi interpreted."

This guy Scarborough is supposedly a Republican, right?

And now we have Obama, who spent two years ignoring Republicans, now deciding to throw in the towel on tax cuts before the opening bell rings. If the president of the United States really believes that he is in such a weak position that he cannot stand up to a party that wants to give tax cuts to millionaires while cutting benefits for unemployed families at Christmastime, I fear not only for the Democratic Party but also for America.
I think CH might have a few choice words about Mika's influence.
Dave (in MA)

The Dow was doing pretty well today http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/global-markets/US-stocks-close-flat-as-tax-cuts-thrill-fades/articleshow/7062715.cms>until Obozo's presser in which he vowed to continue to try to raise taxes on the 'rich'.
It fell around 100 points while he was on.

Rob Crawford

tax cuts to millionaires while cutting benefits for unemployed families at Christmastime

Who did that?

Oh, wait. NO ONE did that. No one said they wanted to do it.

In fact, the question isn't about cutting EITHER. It's about not letting taxes automatically increase because Democrats hate people keeping their own money, and about whether or not to extend unemployment benefits AGAIN.

General Sherman was saddened upon hearing that a steamboat had sunk in the Mississippi, until told that a number of reporters had gone done along with the rest of the victims. That cheered him.

Rob Crawford

"The press conference with the president became a little bit contentious between him and the press. There was something in it that the market did not like," said Scott Marcouiller of Wells Fargo Advisors.

Poor little Barack. So put upon.

Gah, if I hear anymore talk about "tax cuts for the rich," I'm going to puke. Listen, you jackasses, the "cuts" we're made years ago. Why don't you come and say, "We want to raise your taxes to a higher rate." It doesn't matter a damn thing if they happen to coincide with a rate from nine years ago. Oh, and why not also add that this would be the largest tax increase in history? Dishonest cretins.

Wow - twitter says that Elizabeth Edwards has died (multiple news sources).

Rest in peace.

Prayers for her and her two very young children.

My email is theshagams at gmail dot com. Also Jane has Matt & my info. The pkgs go out "with love, thanks, & admiration from all the JOMers"...& they'll be ongoing the whole time Soylent is deployed (sbw called it Operation Airlift Soylent!). I don't know about Matt, but I've got plenty right now in the First National Bank of JOM cigar box!
But it's ongoing, & I could use some fresh ideas.....& if anyone wants to mail a specific item, I'll forward it over.

If true, RIP, Elizabeth. May God have mercy on your sole. Your ex sure didn't.

- Soul - I mean.

The real prayers should be for the Edwards children who are the victims of their mother's misguided leftyism and their father's incontinence. Rest in Peace, Elizabeth Edwards

Dave (in MA)

And now undoubtedly the kids will end up in the sole custody of that lying, ambulance-chasing turd.

She had to do battle with a horrible disease and an unfaithful spouse.

Rest in peace Elizabeth indeed.

Those poor children. I pray they can find some peace knowing that their mother is reunited with their brother, and that their dad can be the dad they need him to be.

the victims of their mother's misguided leftyism and their father's incontinence

Wait a minute. Incontinence = restless dick syndrome?

She had to do battle with a horrible disease and an unfaithful spouse

She was battling the disease, alright. But she was conspiring with the spouse out of a thirst for political power. I think Hillary just shuddered as if someone trod on her grave.

To lose a parent, especially your mother, at such a young age is so tragic. My heart goes out to Elizabeth Edwards' children. God bless them and God rest her soul.

Okay guys, Janet and Matt are doing all the work for Soylent and Janet needs some ideas. Put your thinking caps on.

After Christmas I'm going to ask you all to send another check, anything you can afford, because I really don't want all of this to come out of Janet's or Matt's pocket. And I'm pretty sure neither one of them would tell us if they ran out of money.

Chop chop!

Janet, you've.... got mail.

Ted Turner urges global one-child policy to save planet .
Ted Turner has 5 children.

Perhaps we could finish burying these lads & keep our own children.

Gotta love ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI's interview...geee...I was so impressed by Carter's foreign policy and national security issues (read with great sarcasm), it sure makes sense that people would turn to ZB to get a feel for how the US is doing now...

I miss Soylent's Friday night stories...LOL.

Janet, some of my friends who served there said they loved the microwavable Indian food.It was a break from the bland mess food. If Soylent likes it, I'll take it upon myself to send him a boxful after the holidays.

Taranto's Best of the Web picks up this tidbit from TM's Katrina link:

The best indicator of how unhappy the hard left is, though, may be this passage from Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation, in the Washington Post:
This president has a historic mandate. Just as Abraham Lincoln had to lead the nation from slavery and Franklin Roosevelt from the Depression, this president must lead the nation from the calamitous failures of three decades of conservative dominance. . . . This daunting project is not a matter of ambition or appetite--or even unconscious Kenyan socialism.
Kenyan socialism? Wow! The base is so unhappy with Obama that Katrina vanden Heuvel has gone birther.

Ain' that he truth, Specter..then toss in those political consultants who never fielded a winning candidate and teevee is just full of pundits offering news you can use.

Scarborough relying on CBS polls of adults and whatever witches brew, they cooked from CNBC, if CBS fall in the forest, and no one
heard, did it actually happen.

I hear Pee Wee Herman is available for interviews on national security issues...

My prayers go out to the Edwards' children though I feel Elizabeth was misguided in her quest for the final presidential campaign with John as the candidate. Had he been exposed and I remember whispers at the National Enquirer as early as January , Hillary would be president right now.I also recall some idea mentioned here that one of the presidential candidates had a problem that was being covered up. If only John Edwards had been faithful a few more years it would have been a less stressful time for Elizabeth at the end.

So if the SS tax goes from 6.2 to 4.2%, does anyone know if that's for both employee and employer, or are they trying to disconnect the two after all these years? If it's the latter, that's a bad sign, because it'll be difficult to increase the employee tax back to 6.2% after a year, and much easier to make the employer "match" 8.2% instead.

Melinda Romanoff

Is this the type of Indian food he was preferring?

Ext... it's just the employee side. The employer is still on the hook for the full ride.

I think it's just on the employee side Ext/

So JOMer's at last acknowledge that:
1. The press, including the liberal commentariat, is perfectly willing to slam Obama.
2. Far from a left-wing ideologue, Obama is a political opportunist focused primarily on surfing public opinion and forming financially beneficial alliances.
3. Stocks have rallied under Obama and the economy is indeed rebounding
4. Obama hasn't raised taxes.
5 Obama hasn't ``invited'' terrorist attacks in the way Cheney insisted he would.

Palin for Presidunce

With all the static and noise you broadcast to
exercise your due diligence in order to assist the failure of the first BLACK President, you might exercise some perspective.

Your Republican paramours have lock-stepped
their opposition to any accomplishments by the Obama administration, and you have cut-and pasted their trope, and attempted to amplify same with your squeaky voice, but....you and yours forget one salient point as you claim he has no accomplishments.

He is the first BLACK President, and you can never take that from him.

So as you use your code words masking your racism, remember this too;

He'll be in History books, but even your facebook will be deleted when you're gone

After much consideration I have to say-You don't make any sense.

Melinda Romanoff

Hal Rogers gets the Appropriations Chair over Flake.

Re-inflate the Porkbusters Logo, please.

Sounds like shenanigans in the future, then. So the self-employment SS tax would be 10.4 rather than 12.4% next year?

Melinda Romanoff

Now TM is supposed to be a Windtalker? Fun-ny.

How is it supposed to be a code when you're the only one who knows the key words? Self-delusional is more like it, and getting desperate.

Must be lonely in that closet, chasin' hangers again...

the microwavable Indian food

Yeah Clarice, you had mentioned that. My normal stores don't carry it, but I've been looking for it. Thanks....

Melinda Romanoff

I'm not Clarice.

But I'll mail my cut.

(snip...) you and yours forget one salient point as you claim he has no accomplishments.

Exactly...he has NO accomplishments and has backed off on almost every single campaign promise. I couldn't have said it better myself...Thanks for your salient input.

Melinda Romanoff

And am way, way late on this.

Are these things that Soylent really likes? I'm in the process of putting together another box for my son and am looking for new ideas. Thx.

yer wilcum, speculum

Hal Rogers gets the Appropriations Chair over Flake.

They're not quite at the Palestinian "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity" level, but they're close.

Flake wasn't in the running for Chair, though, was he? I thought it was Rogers v Kingston, and it's that choice that the Pubs bungled.

Mel,I was answering Clarice. She said she knew some friends that loved it while deployed. The stuff you linked looked good though. I'm okay with sending over all types of stuff. Makes it fun, & even if Soylent doesn't use it...it gets passed on to others. So it's all good.

If anyone missed The Rise and Fall of Hope and Change at the 2nd Annual iOTW PUK Awards, there's even hover-over-their-heads feature.

Sorry, here's the link to the contest entries.

Here's another entry.

Sorry OT (and might have been covered already)

Rumor has it that Assange will be named Time's Man of the Year....

Ex - I actually printed that out earlier. It is fantastic. I think I identified every face altho the Salheeds (or whatever they are called, stumped me for a while.)

Did you hover? The comments aren't as great as the pic, but it's a cool feature.

Are these things that Soylent really likes?

What Specter?...the stuff in the FB photos?

I haven't gotten much feedback really. He requested a super-loud alarm clock, a phone card,...he liked the weight lifting gloves. I sent cigars, but Soylent doesn't smoke. He sounded like he used them to barter for good will! :) He requested junk food while at the FOB because all the guys loved it ...but at the main base he was working out & didn't want a lot of junk food. He also requested anti-bacterial lotion & single packets of Gatorade while at the FOB.
I've sorta based it on what my church sends...only on a smaller scale.

Who was the statue to Lenin's right?

Holy Cow! The history books are full">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_heritage_of_United_States_presidents">full of Presidents who claim black heritage. Well at least Obama can still claim to be the first to have failed on his own merits. And you can still be proud that he is Black and a failure. Racist.

hit and run

Would love to stay and catch up on all the comments, but I must head off to the hotel and freshen up.

I want to look and smell my best for my date tonight. With DrJ!
