Over at Memorandum is this eye-catching headline/byline:
Joe Biden / Washington Post:
Obama: On the way to a failed presidency?
On the way?!? One presumes the question is rhetorical. In fact, it is quite serious, but the author is not Joe Biden, it is Katrina vanden Heuvel of the Unchastened Nation.
She is a bit worried about the arc of the Obama Administration:
Now the not-so-subtle retreats are turning into a rout.
But history beckons!
Forget about electoral mandates or campaign promises. This president has a historic mandate. Just as Abraham Lincoln had to lead the nation from slavery and Franklin Roosevelt from the Depression, this president must lead the nation from the calamitous failures of three decades of conservative dominance.
No worries, and remember, Obama is a basketball player. Just as on the unforgiving hardwoods a true Sky King bends his knees and moves closer to the ground before commencing his mighty skyward thrust, Obama is simply gathering himself before a dazzling leap (or lurch, anyway) to the left.
Wel, unless he just topples over. Time will tell!
MORE: James Joyner is still waiting for the Joe Biden column, but he has a screen shot in the meantime.
"Britain feared Libya would take "harsh and immediate action" against it if the Lockerbie bomber died in jail, the latest U.S. cables published by WikiLeaks revealed Wednesday."
Transparency is a two-edged sword, but it is still 'all good'.
I sense some movement in yer opinions, that transparency is bad, blah, blah blah.

position has so much to hide.

Pagar, Your 10:11 link reminds me of being visited by our city once to be questioned about cutting down a tree without permission.
A tree blew over in our backyard & we had asked for tree service recommendations on the neighborhood listserv. Someone on the listserv forwarded our email to the city & reported us for possibly cutting down a tree without permission.
These endless laws, regulations & ordinances give people STASI-like powers to sic the government onto their neighbors.
It worked out okay...the city guy was embarrassed. We thought we should buy everyone in the neighborhood a copy of "The Lives of Others".

Melinda, you are 100 % correct.
Janet, wait till you get interrogated by the Union for wanting a better school for your children.
Suprise attack of the education status quo.
"said the union would be looking into how the petition campaign was conducted and whether open discussions were held at the school, with an eye toward possible legal action."
From the article, it looks like the school administration will also be suing the parents. Could it be a crime to want your children to have a decent education, instead of the education terror supporters like William Ayers want your children to have?

Rob, I suggest updating your Narcisolator, as I have just done this morning.

Is Cleo posing as bubu? "Yer" is typical Cleo usage.

Dang, now my Narcisolator is only partly working. I see the icons and some (but not all) troll posts.

Charlie Cook has a wonderful piece up at the National Journal.

I think BunkerBuster who we call Bubu is one entity and Cleo or BuBu is another. The writing styles are not comparable. Cleo writes like a guy on uppers whereas BunkerBuster writes like a guy who has downed too many cherry cokes.

Of course I'm only referring to those with
some awareness of their Corporate co-dependency.
BP and the Banks soon to follow.

I sense Maguire has yet to form a opinion on

WikiLeaks has teased the genie of transparency out of a very opaque bottle, and powerful forces in America, who thrive on secrecy, are trying desperately to stuff the genie back in.
How far down the United States has slid can be seen, ironically enough, in a recent commentary in Pravda (that's right, Russia's Pravda): "What WikiLeaks has done is make people understand why so many Americans are politically apathetic ... After all, the evils committed by those in power can be suffocating, and the sense of powerlessness that erupts can be paralyzing, especially when ... government evildoers almost always get away with their crimes. ..."
So shame on Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and all those who spew platitudes about integrity, justice and accountability while allowing war criminals and torturers to walk freely upon the earth. ... the American people should be outraged that their government has transformed a nation with a reputation for freedom, justice, tolerance and respect for human rights into a backwater that revels in its criminality, cover-ups, injustices and hypocrisies.
Odd, isn't it, that it takes a Pravda commentator to drive home the point that the Obama administration is on the wrong side of history. Most of our own media are demanding that WikiLeaks leader Julian Assange be hunted down -- with some of the more bloodthirsty politicians calling for his murder. The corporate-and-government dominated media are apprehensive over the challenge that WikiLeaks presents. Perhaps deep down they know, as Dickens put it, "There is nothing so strong ... as the simple truth."
