Stephanie

People are abandoning their cars on the interstate. Snow Jam redux.

clarice

Be well, Stephanie. I hope you don't lose your power.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Where in the ATL area do you live, Stephanie? I'm in Sandy Springs and we have about an inch. Ditto re the power, Clarice. I don't have a backup for my CPap machine:>) Got plenty of firewood, though.

Ann

I have been thinking of you all day, Stephanie.

I also hope you don't lose your power. That is the part that sucks the most.

Left to go watch Sarah Palin Alaska to show her some love and I came back and missed Soylent. Darn it.

Stephanie

Snellville.

We have about 3 inches now. The new puppy had fun in the backyard. She disappeared into the darkness and, shining a flashlight, all we could see of her was a black nose and black eyes. She came in the house and went into the Bichon Shuffle chasing her tail and running to and fro and being just as cute as a button. She's currently in the bay window barking at the flakes that hit the window.

I really hope we don't lose power, too. The changeover from snow to ice is what will determine how bad that will be. They are saying a quarter inch, but they said the snow would start slowly and build and it didn't. It came on really fast and furious.

Stephanie

Wasn't Sarah great tonight?

Porchlight

Take care, Stephanie and Jim Rhoads. Check back when you can.

Ann, we watched SPAK finale and loved it, as usual. Sorry it's over.

Remember folks, Cleo only shows up on bad days for the left. You can set your clock by it.

clarice

True, porch. All his media lights have egg on their faces tonight.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

I figured you were a bit south of us, Stephanie. The storm is moving southwest to northeast but I don't think anyone has figured out what the snow/sleet/freezing rain line will be. If the freezing rain holds off we'll probably be ok on the power front. After 40 years in Atlanta, I still cringe at these mixed precip storms.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Thanks Porch and Clarice. Please keep thinking good thoughts.

Stephanie

Me, too. It looks like everyone is gonna get some amount of sleet and freezing rain. You're in the tenth of an inch zone and I'm in the quarter inch zone. IF the models hold. Of course, the models said that the snow would start slowly...

Stephanie

Yes, absolutely, thanks for the good thoughts.

All the schools are closed. The daughter is upset. She's like, "I'm a senior, I want this year to END!!!"

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

The dreaded "models" have not been very good predictors of lines of demarcation between snow, sleet and freezing rain. The Atlanta area always seems in that zone where anything is possible.

clarice

Those weather/climate models seem to work great at hundred year spans --not so good at predicting an hour from now. *wink*

Ann

Sarah was Sarah.....Just AWESOME! :)

I don't believe the left/media realizes that the more they blame Sarah the greater her fan base grows. It is a PHENOMENON like the Tea Party that they will be strained to explain for years. There playbook is no longer a secret.

I am not letting it getting me down because I am looking forward to tomorrow. Mo is having lunch with Carla Bruni! They got nothing in there paybook for that. HA!

Stephanie

Yeah, and they do an AWESOME job at predicting global warming, too. :eyeroll:

You'd think that they would figure out that the heat sink that is the city could possibly influence the movement of fronts...

It ain't your great grandma's city anymore.

I've found that recently, I-20 seems a good demarcation between bad and worse as far as snow and such and I-75 as far as t-storms fizzling out, but then I'm not paid the big bucks.

Ignatz

Thank you for your 10:28 DoT.
Funny and true.

Porchlight

A smart college friend of mine grew up in the Midwest and moved to NYC after graduation. She expressed amazement to me that the temps in Manhattan were higher during the winter than they were just a few miles upstate, and that there was so much less snow, too.

She said "I guess it's because of global warming."

clarice

Please give rick her name and address.SCAM's potential client list is expanding so fast we have a hard time keeping up.

Stephanie

Snort. She didn't happen to major in journalism, did she?

I wonder if she knows where buffalo wings come from?

I bet she was blonde, too. /ducks

Porchlight

She is blonde - heh. But, to be fair, she's also an accountant at a Fortune 500 company, and is as geuninely intelligent and insightful on so many other topics as one could possibly wish. She is a wiz at the fundraising work we do together.

I submit this as an example of how dangerously seductive the global warming meme can be. Even when any 11-year-old ought to be able to figure out what is actually going on.

Stephanie

Being smart is not a defensive posture to the seduction of herd mentalities. Global Warming is part and parcel of the momentum of the herd to be on the popular side of any issue.

The left knows this and feed its growth. That the tea parties actually took root in this environment is an oddity. The left is currently conducting a witch hunt to sap it of its momentum. The tea party was still gaining popularity after the elections and critical mass is hard to overcome. The steers are being employed to herd everyone back into the fold.

Pennsylvania Rep. Robert Brady, a Democrat from Philadelphia, told CNN that he also plans to take legislative action. He will introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress.

And less than a week after the Constitution was read in Congress...

Stephanie

You think he actually listened? I'd like to see what his comments were wrt the constitution reading myself. He probably denigrated it.

If there is a silver lining to this sad episode it is that we have seen on full display the naked dishonesty of the Left.

This was an opportunity for the Left mass media of this nation to deal with an horrific tragedy honestly, openly, and fairly. Instead they deliberately choose to engage in slime campaigns against their perceived enemies. Given an opportunity to be decent, they squandered it in partisan slander and fully descended into the journalistic gutter. Whether Krugman, CNN, NPR, KOS, The NYTimes, The WaPo, ABC, NBC, Politico, HuffPo, etc...take your pick. Toss a dart anywhere on the dartboard of the Left Media these last 40 hours and you'll hit slanted spokesmen and slanted stories of this episode that are despicable, disgusting, and disingenuous.

It is a sad picture of sadly dishonest Journalistic partisans, but to see it so openly is valuable. This should double our resolve to fight any effort designed to limit citizen's speech or to give even more power to the Left wing media's ability to control the political narrative in this country. We depend not just on a free but on a fair press to be the watch dog of this Republic, and this weekend the Left wing Media in the country proved they are not up to the job.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

A truther?

From friends and classmates:

The Loughner they met when he was a freshman at Mountain View High School may have been socially awkward, but he was generally happy and fun to be around. The crew smoked marijuana every day, and when they weren’t going to concerts or watching movies they talked about the meaning of life and dabbled in conspiracy theories.

For a time, Loughner drank heavily, to the point of poisoning himself, the friends said. Once, during school lunch break as a junior, he downed so much tequila that he came back to class, within five minutes passed out cold, had to be rushed to the hospital and “almost died,” one friend said.

Mistrust of government was Loughner’s defining conviction, the friends said. He believed the U.S. government was behind 9/11, and worried that governments were maneuvering to create a unified monetary system (“a New World Order currency” one friend said) so that social elites and bureaucrats could control the rest of the world.
