Captain Hate

Succumb.

And by rooting,I mean huddling, shivering, cursing that they had made the choice to brave the elements that year. Well, that and watching Joe Montana work his magic.

I remember that game; miserable conditions and an incredible comeback by Notre Dame, who I hated but had to admit that it was something special. I'll never forget one night I was watching the Bluebonnet Bowl that the Terps were playing in and, from out of nowhere, the camera zoomed into the crowd and showed Mother Hate. I didn't know whether it was more incredible that I saw her or that the camera guy found the one nanosecond where she wasn't smoking a cigarette.

Gmax

Years ago I saw a handmade sign in Houston at a hopelessly snarled intersection hanging on a telephone poll, "will the last person out of Michigan, please turn out the lights?"

We dont need no damn Illinois retards coming down here with the thought fo raising taxes to the highest level in the country and not expecting an adverse reaction. No thanks.

Read Krugman, Texas is collapsing, really. Truly. Dont come, I am begging you.

narciso

You know it's gotten bad, for him, when even the urban dictionary, has 5 adverse comments
for the supposed coinage that West provided

clarice

Per the urban dictionary:

"
Its basically the same thing as succumb, but instead its a slang word. Used quite frequently in internet chat rooms. It is usually used for someone who must give into the circumstances. Usually used to describe something that gave way to death or illness."

Melinda Romanoff

The next coming feature to Illinois.

Bye all.

boris

This is so NOT funny ... do not watch!

clarice

boris, never lies. It's really not funny. Do not watch/

Porchlight

Don't worry, Sue and Gmax, I was joking. The folks in Illinois aren't smart enough to figure out that they need to move here. If they were, they wouldn't be in this mess.

(I'm allowed to say that because I am a Texas resident born in South Chicago.)

Melinda Romanoff

Thanks, Porch!

Ignatz

Classic, boris.

glasater

I want to know how they did that -- boris:-)

Agent J. (formally known as "J"..

Boris- I am sorry, but when I witnessed that live I was wishing for that to happen..but out here on the farm when we have a sick or wounded animal we do that..we do not allow them to mate or otherwise suffer.

Who cares about the economy. There are more important issues for the media to worry about.

daddy

Anybody know if we give flowers on ">http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/07/passport-applications-soon-gender-neutral/"> "Parent 1 Day" and a tie on "Parent 2 Day", or have I got that backward?

Stephanie

But daddy, what if Parent 1 and Parent 2 both wear the pants in the family IYKWIM?

daddy

Don't know Steph,

Let me see if the Founding Parent 2's addressed it in The Constitution.

Stephanie

Oh, goody. We are now officially under a winter storm watch. 4 - 6 inches of snow with a little bonus of an ice storm to boot. They are expecting power outages, too.

The entire SE could miss watching the BCS championship live... ARRRGH. Is it a sign from God? Will Auburn be trounced? Is it karma for Cam's money grubbing father? Is the weatherman going to get it wrong, as usual?

What does one do if they don't have access to the internet for an extended period of time? OMG....

/runs away screaming.

About that Cornell West "surcame" story - Rush did a whole segment on it this week. The first day he made fun of it, his staff checked several dictionaries, including the Urban dictionary and there was no listing for such a word.

On his show the next day, Rush brought it up again to say that an entry for "surcame" had suddenly appeared that morning in the on-line Urban dictionary. (He joked, that C. West had probably authored the entry himself). When they checked again, the entry was not there. Now you see it, now you don't. Sounds like it is back as an entry since Clarice was able to find it.

bunkerbuster

``every action of this body must be measured against this goal.''

Measure, indeed. If the economy isn't fully revived by 2012, the Republicans who control congress will of course accept full responsibility.

Obama needs a good headline? Ludicrous. The worse the better for him, from a 2012 point of view. The business cycle is the most powerful economic force there is and there is no question but that the pendulum will change directions at some point. (I would argue the numbers show it already has, but the point is that even if it hasn't, it will before or during 2012).
I can't wait to hear all the JOMers who were so busy blaming Obama for the poor economy suddenly shift gears and start congratulating congress for the economic recovery.

And if there is no recovery, I'll wager the same wingnuts who insisted the Pelosi congress be blamed for the Bush economic collapse will now insist the Boehner congress is blameless for any and all economic negatives.

Jack is Back!

Never flip a coin with Bubu, because its always "heads I win and tails you lose".

Janet

JiB, Thanks for the video link about My Blackberry is not working. Very funny...

Threadkiller

Bunker, this is the second time I caught you reading one of my links. I am impressed. In that link, McClintock gives credit to Clinton and blame to Bush.

Finding the true source of a problem involves being neutral in your research phase. When you study the research done by the people here, and the sources they cite, proclaiming “wingnut” shows a bias before analysis.

On your road to conservatism you will find a conservative can "identify" with a person that can accept responsibility. McClintock is accepting responsibility at the start. Pelosi has never accepted any responsibility. I can disparage people from both sides of the aisle. I can applaud people from both sides, as well.

I will wager that the more links you read the better you will be able to do the same.

Good luck, bunker. I mean it.

Captain Hate

I'll wager the same wingnuts who insisted the Pelosi congress be blamed for the Bush economic collapse will now insist the Boehner congress is blameless for any and all economic negatives.

Whoever is writing your talking points obviously has the wrong target audience. When you've been pasting them you obviously haven't been paying attention to the fact that some of us would prefer spending their time constructing and dousing with gasoline a funeral pyre for Repukes like Rove, McCain, Graham, Snow, Collins, Crist and Castle. I don't have any trouble holding them culpable for the negative consequences of their perfidy.

Ignatz

--I don't have any trouble holding them culpable for the negative consequences of their perfidy.--

Precisely Cap. It's policy and principle that matter not party or personality.
Perhaps someday, with TK's coaxing, when bubu is no longer an identity liberal, trapped in his his lock-step, knee-jerk leftism he'll understand.

Porchlight

I can't wait to hear all the JOMers who were so busy blaming Obama for the poor economy suddenly shift gears and start congratulating congress for the economic recovery.

It is hilarious to watch all the lefties who claimed that Bush was to blame for the downturn suddenly discover that there is such a thing as a boom-and-bust cycle and declare that Obama has no responsibility for the state of the economy at all.

It will also be hilarious watching them try to blame Republicans for any poor economic progress between now and the 2012 election.

RichatUF

Porchlight-

Bush is a lot like global warming to identity leftists. There is nothing that can't be blamed on him.

rajni

nicely done
