The troll is trading shots/hits/bongs/rails/needles with Charlie Sheen.

The sad thing is, that's not a mind addled by drugs. That's a mind addled by willful stupidity.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

If you can not work in your chosen field unless you join a commie organization union, who is the tyrant? Huh?

Rob Crawford

Ah, but, Sara, to a lefty you're not free unless you've handed the control of your life over to a bureaucrat!

PD

Ah, but, Sara, to a lefty you're not free unless you've handed the control of your life over to a bureaucrat!

Well, it's a little more nuanced than that. The freedom comes in by being free to enslave the taxpayers.

Rob Crawford

Ya know, if the tantrum continues, I may be so amused by the loser's rage that I break into Duckman's victory dance again.

Twice in one day? I don't know if my pelvis can take it.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

I didn't post this last night (and now I don't have a link) because I wasn't convinced it was legit. In essence, someone claiming to be close to Sheen said that his rants are all scripted and running on a teleprompter and the whole thing is an act.

Today, Dennis Miller was answering O'Reilly about Sheen and praising him for the best "absurdest" riff he's ever heard. He was particularly glowing about Sheen's take down of Moonves.

Rob Crawford

Sara -- it would be an interesting (and, I hate to admit it, clever) way to shut down "Two and a Half Men".

Dem lawmakers and activists have whipped crowd into a frenzy. Some very troubling reports from inside the Capitol,... http://fb.me/O67G20aE

They all need to take a deep breath!

Rick-

Probably less. And glad that you mentioned gas prices because I remember in the '08 run up, Nigeria always had a for-press-release terrorist attack on their oil infrastructure.

Captain Hate

There's plenty of "entertainment industry" slime for Sheen to destroy in a scorched earth manner, but that doesn't mean that he isn't one sick delusional person about whom I'm extremely unsympathetic and uninterested.

clarice

Would anyone who gives a carp tonight about Sheen please raise his hand.

Danube of Thought

"Troubling reports from inside the capitol." Will we perhaps see a bit of the ol' ultra-violence?

Remember, thugs: the whole world's watching.

Oh God this is rich.

narciso

Speaking of entertainment industry doings, they've got Julianne Moore for the role in
'Game Change' and no it's not Hillary or Elizabeth

Rick Ballard

Rich,

I wouldn't be surprised to see those reports again very soon. Nigerian and Algerian crude will run in European refineries while Saudi crude requires a bit of overhaul. If Daffy keeps blowing up his infrastructure (and why shouldn't he?) it will be a bonanza for Nigeria. That should cheer them up, considering that the US has dropped its take from them rather substantially.

Danube of Thought

From Matt Miller:

Thanks to this bill — which doesn’t touch any of the civil service protections afforded public workers, nor any private-sector unions — public sector workers will have a choice over whether to join a union. Thanks to this bill, public workers who elect not to join a union won’t be forced to pay dues anyway. Thanks to this bill, elected officials won’t be negotiating away taxpayer dollars the people who finance their campaigns. So, naturally, the Democrats call it the the undoing of fifty years of “civil rights.”
Boatbuilder

Saddam took away collective bargaining privileges for public employees? Khaddafi asked public employees to contribute to their pension plans and health insurance? Good God, they were far more evil than anyone understood.

Yeah it's me Cleo

Sorry, I'm just really cranky because Walker is winning and I supposedly beat up some old lady last night and spent the night in the drunk tank. Again. Plus these days if I get a sore it doesn't heal anymore supposedly because I use.

I go to the library and scream at strangers.

Henry

Alehouse has post up from Meade in the Capitol. Apparently a Dem staffer opened a window to let the in. Meade has film to be posted.

"Tomorrow we will join the people of Wisconsin in taking back our government."

Wow, they must be really demoralized. Miller's now a Tea Partier.

Carl Berstein says we need a gas tax.

Why should we listen to him? Is he a big gas expert? tax expert? deficit expert?
Here's his education listed at wiki -

"Bernstein attended the University of Maryland. In his younger years, he attained much public scrutiny for his extramarital affair with Margaret Jay (the daughter of a British Prime Minister) and for dating celebrities such as Bianca Jagger, Martha Stewart and Elizabeth Taylor. He was also arrested for drunk driving."

Big expert.

Thank you, Clarice!

Excellent comments by Matt Miller, DoT!

Narciso, I can see Julianne Moore made up to look like Sarah Palin. But, she doesn't have the cajones to BE her - even in a hit piece.

Melinda Romanoff

Just once I want to see the DU thread he slinks back to lick his wounds and garner adulations for his derring-do.

Apparently doors and windows in the capitol were broken and people are streaming in..there are less than a handful of troopers present and they are clearly out numbered. He parties too hard and does illegal drugs and and drinks too much alcohol (the worst drug of all), but I don't think he is either sick or delusional. I think he is mocking all these armchair and TV psychologists, and a whole lot of hypocrisy coming from every direction. Meanwhile he is raking in the dough and having a bang up time.

Power and money and huge doses of pc and hypocrisy and like Charlie says, "it's on."

I have my own problems with Sheen's abusive behavior and the alcohol, since I believe the alcohol is what leads to the abuse, not the cocaine.

Rob Crawford

Apparently a Dem staffer opened a window to let the in.

A few days ago -- perhaps at Althouse, perhaps at Gateway -- I read that the left was complaining about Walker ordering the windows "welded shut".

The response was, effectively, "what a stupid accusation. If we did that, the wooden window frames would catch fire."

So, yeah, they've been planning to use the windows to get around security for a few days. Keep that in mind when they talk about "law".

Rob Crawford

Ya know, Tea Partiers and Republicans should pull back from the WI capitol and let the thugs burn themselves out. If they hurt anyone, let it be their own.

Henry

Rob, the republicans left via tunnel within minutes of the vote.

centralcal

From Althouse and Meade:

Meade, who is in the building now, tells me, by phone, that he saw a window on the Wisconsin Avenue side of the building opened and protesters entering through that window.

He thought it seemed as if someone in one of the Democratic legislators' offices had opened a window to let them in, and — once they were in — many doors have been opened all around, and people have streamed into the building. He says he counted 3 "troopers" — I'm not sure what the official job title is for these security people — and that they were absurdly overwhelmed by the crowd.

This could all end very badly!

narciso

I think that film where Nicolson, played him, based on a Norah Ephron book, probably is closer. I'm tired of Charlie Sheen, it was amusing at first, but let's get a grip, I'm

Sob stories from teachers, S Milw school board threatening cuts to all student activities (sports etc). Cue the violins (oops they cut that too).

When the fleebaggers get back, vouchers for all should be the first vote.

DebinNC

Althouse: ADDED: Meade called back to say, some of the doors are handcuffed shut and some are wide open. "ANYBODY CAN GET IN AND ANYBODY CAN BRING ANYTHING IN. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY WHATEVER."

AND: Meade — who just got home at 9 CT — says the police have the "fairly calm jocose" attitude that they've had all along. They have no riot gear, he said. The place is "swarmed" with protesters.

Organic enough for Obama?

bgates

Tomorrow we will join the people of Wisconsin in taking back our government.

A guest suggested that when Tea Party activists said they wanted to "take back" their country, their real motivation was to stir up anger and anxiety at having a black president, and Obama didn't dispute the idea

Who knew - Scott Walker is black, I guess.

Walker needs to call in the national guard to take over security. They are the only government employees that can be trusted.

I understand Maddow gushed last night that "Walker has caved!" Since I have a perfect record of having watched zero seconds of her program, I'll have to ask that some poor soul who does watch her please tell us what she has to say now.

Jim Ryan

There is a lot of mental illness on the left. Leftism attracts the mentally ill because it tells them that their depression is a result of economic forces outside their control and not their fault. It also tends to cause mental illness amongst the well who subscribe to it because it tells them all of their values are to be subordinated to economic equality, the one true value, such that they must violate any law or value that comes into conflict with economic equality. This is a subtle and powerful stress on an otherwise healthy mind. The well leftist is forced into hypocrisy if he is to stay well. Look at the many leftists who give nothing to charity, despise blacks, and emit more CO2 than most other people while protesting inequality of wealth, racism and global warming.

The leftist who is both fully mentally well and fully non-hypocritical is your serious leftist, your Lenin, Castro, Chomsky, or Obama. But even they aren't really leftists because they couldn't care less about economic equality; they intend to be amongst the wealthy elite when they succeed in their designs. They are power seekers who use leftists - both the mentally ill and they hypocritical. In truth, there are no real, well, non-hypocritical leftists because leftism is inconsistent with human nature.

Tonight they have the mentally ill storming the Madison capitol.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Frau Justitia

Rob Crawford

Appropriate music video for them, LUN.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

That Dem Senator Greta had on the phone seemed really out of touch. I was particularly amused at his statements on recall and how the Repubs are doomed when "they take back democracy."

Let's not forget this when everything gets ratcheted up:

Organizers Recruiting Workers from Washington DC to Run Recall Efforts Against GOP Senators

The job posting for "Field Organizers - Available Immediately" for "Wisconsin Progress" looks pretty organized.

Melinda Romanoff

I'm reading the DU thread and ,aside from the vitriol, the use of "known facts" is really seeking new lows with each post.

125 posts deep, there are some rational people that are saying this is what they were warning about, but it's all an illegal action by Walker, or fascist, take your pick.

Really eye opening.

It's this thread, if anybody gets curious.

They don't "project" over there, they lase under their own power.

DrJ

Mel,

If you want to read even lower comments, take a look at the SFGate comments here.

Schultz and company looked real glum tonight and keep saying it's illegal but I think that's their lie and a lot of wishful thinking on their part. I saw Madcow last night for a few minutes and I will watch the repeat tonight at 12:00 to see her thunderstruck face. Cave this Madcow! Sorry I get carried away but this is exactly what I hoped the Senate in Wisconsin would do. I can't believe Kohl voted with the repubs today. Somebody is worried about re-election. Is Obama getting ready to throw old Herb under the bus by actively sticking his nose into that Senate race?Maybe some cushy job offer for Herb.

I'm not sure that's the case, cc. I think they are trying to keep this from escalating into violence.

A little sherbet :

"WASHINGTON - After a White House-sponsored contest offering him as a high school commencement speaker drew only 14 applications, President Obama announced today that he would also personally provide a free liquor store run for students of schools who submit entries before the extended deadline of March 11.

"Let me be clear, I know that sometimes you lose your ID," said the President at a lightly attended afternoon press conference for high school reporters. "This is why I have proposed this bold new initiative to create a federal-local school partnership to target investments to get the nation's students the extracurricular party resources they desperately need."

From Althouse and Meade:

Rick Ballard

Jim Ryan,

Could you acquit Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Mengistu, Chavez, Guevara, Ortiz, Giap or Ho Chi Minh on the basis of mental defect? The prog fellow travelers trashing the Capitol in Wisconsin don't deserve any labels other than slavers and wannabe génocidaires. They have willfully blinded themselves to the fact that they are on the same road as those mentioned above and their "good intentions" have the same weight as "just following orders".

Evil is not a mental defect.

DrJ

Mel, they became more "balanced" after I looked last. Man am I glad my company is not located in the Bay area.

Rob Crawford

Pretty scary to think law enforcement is only concerned about their vested political interests (ala unions).

Yeah. You'd think people charged with guarding the public safety would be more concerned with the lives being endangered than in protecting their golden parachutes.

centralcal

uh oh - picture didn't post. Sorry :(

I sure hope you are right, Clarice.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Ace has a headline saying the protesters intend to hold the Capitol and not let the Assembly in tomorrow to vote. Unfortunately, I think they are dumb enough to try such a stupid tactic. If they do, I hope the Gov. immediately calls in the Guard and everyone inside the building who has no legit reason to be there goes to jail (or maybe Gitmo).

Melinda Romanoff

c-cal-

This one?

Rob Crawford

I'm not sure that's the case, cc. I think they are trying to keep this from escalating into violence.

Really? From what I've read about riots, they're not started by too much police-presence or force, but by too little. They should have announced that the entire capitol grounds is closed, off-limits, in the interest of public safety.

And doesn't anyone else remember the Tea Party protest in Illinois that had the local police show up in riot gear? A group with no record of violence, not even a record of law-breaking, and the police are there like it was Klan vs. Black Panthers. Tonight, people who have already repeatedly broken the law, who have made bomb threats, who have assaulted politicians, who have threatened escalation -- and the police are treating them with kid gloves.

Melinda Romanoff

gyaaagh-

Melinda Romanoff

and g'night all!

Rob Crawford

Ace has a headline saying the protesters intend to hold the Capitol and not let the Assembly in tomorrow to vote.

Didn't the Assembly already pass the bill?

Jim Ryan

Rick, I would not acquit. The leaders you mentioned are perfectly well, like I said:

The leftist who is both fully mentally well and fully non-hypocritical is your serious leftist, your Lenin, Castro, Chomsky, or Obama

They use the mentally ill as pawns. But you are right I have left out a class of pawns: the freeloaders who are not mentally ill.

No, I would not acquit even any of the mentally ill pawns. Their illness isn't the kind that prevents them from knowing right from wrong. Look at Cleo. He knows right from wrong. But he is terribly ill. I don't know how to describe this illness: Depression, failure to thrive, lack of the wherewithal it takes to function as a normal human being.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Another all-nighter for those poor underpaid civil servants. Oh the humanity being treated like federal employees. Tune in tomorrow to see if they survive.

Henry

Rob, they passed the whole budget repair bill. Now they have to pass the conference committe bill the Senate just passed. I think they can do these on a straight up or down vote with no debate (?), but expect the assembly dems to create more idiocy than last time. I hope everybody has lots of popcorn for tomorrow morning.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

I was joking, of course, about the Gitmo part.

CC: Why are you so down on Althouse and Meade? Seems to me they've been doing a pretty good job of documenting the entire protest at the Capitol since it all started.

maryrose

You lost dems face it you took a risk and it didn't pan out.

Danube of Thought

I want to see loads and loads of videos of those shrill banshees in the rotunda and in the Assembly chamber. Bring it.

There were many more people in the Capitol days earlier and the police managed it rather well..even getting people out without arrests or bloodshed when it was time for them to go.

Rob Crawford

Rob, they passed the whole budget repair bill. Now they have to pass the conference committe bill the Senate just passed. I think they can do these on a straight up or down vote with no debate

Is there a requirement for them to meet in the capitol building? Granted, the minute they inform the Democrats of where the vote will be, the mob will be there and likely angrier than ever, but that may given them the opportunity to control movement in/out.
