The "Palin faked her fifth pregnancy" rumor is back, prompting Andrew Sullivan to tip us off to the title of his autobiography with a post titled "Wimpy and Gullible".
The inscrutable logic is that, since Birthers are now being taken seriously, shouldn't the press dive into the other birther fantasy? Geez, is it really that hard to find examples of the press refusing to probe behind the curtain of Obama's life? My personal favorite is still the press refusal to engage the ongoing lies and evasions around the Obama/Ayers relationship (which reportedly included ghostwriting help on "Dreams" and an Ayers hand in Obama's appointment as chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge).
But if the subject is Hawaii and Kenya, let's turn back to Mr. Wimpy and Gullible, who tells us this:
We have gotten all the data one can want out of the Obama administration on his birth certificate. He has delivered it.
Either Sully is deliberately lying, or he is woefully ignorant of some basic facts that even the NY Times reported:
By Hawaiian law, birth records can be released only to people with “a direct and tangible” interest in them — a person born in the state, say, or certain relatives or their estates. So when questions about Mr. Obama’s birth first surfaced during the 2008 presidential election, his campaign posted a copy of his “certification of live birth” on a Web site; it states that Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, at 7:24 p.m.
When questions continued to pour in, the state’s health director, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, announced that she had seen the original records and that they showed that Mr. Obama was “born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.”
So there is a more complete file of "original records" which could be released to Obama, but he has not requested it. Why not? Who knows? And Sully can't even grasp that basic issue.
My official editorial position is that Obama is hiding his complete file just because it is his brand management strategy to hide everything about his past - try getting his law firm billing records, or a college transcript, or a financial aid form, or his senior thesis, or any damn thing at all. We will need to wait until he signs his eight-figure book deal to see some of that stuff, and then only if it fits his preferred narrative.
GO WITH THE OBVIOUS ANSWER: Obama won't request and release his whole file because, as he explained to George Stephanopoulos, he thinks this discussion hurts Republicans:
I thought the president would take a pass when I asked him about Donald Trump’s rise to the top of the Republican field in my exclusive interview today.
Far from it.
He grabbed at the chance with a big smile – saying he thinks the whole issue will be a problem for Republicans.
“I think that over the last two and a half years there's been an effort to go at me in a way that is politically expedient in the short-term for Republicans. But [it] creates, I think a problem for them when they want to actually run in a general election where most people feel pretty confident the President was born where he says he was, in Hawaii. He-- he doesn't have horns…we're not really worrying about conspiracy theories or-- or birth certificates,” President Obama told me.
And in all my talks with Obama I think it was the first time he was one the same page as Karl Rove who thinks the “birther” controversy is hurting the GOP.
“The truth of the matter is that I think that the vast majority of Americans across the country – Democratic or Republican – really want this election to be about growing the economy, getting control of the deficit, preparing the future for our kids. And my suspicion is that anybody who is not addressing those questions…Is going to be in trouble. I think they may get a quick pop in the news. They may get a lot of attention. But ultimately, the American people understand this is a serious, sober time,” he told me.
Well, if the press, and folks like Sully, understood and reported that Obama has not doen all he can to end this and is keeping this division alive for his own political ends, the dynamic might change.
I will not state what I believe should be done to the Trig Truthers, as I fear such a statement could result in a visit from the police.

DOT: You do understand, don't you, that those newspaper notices come from the DHS and only indicate that some kind of document is on file. Obama's own sister was born in Indonesia, but attained a Certificate of Birth from Hawaii. Those notices do not prove anything other than some kind of documentation was submitted to the state office. They do not come from the hospitals and every researcher I've seen so far has said that their are no hospital records.
Those notices mean nothing.

Here is a short article from Cashill's blog from today - Barack Obama's First Two Years
Another big muddled time for Obama is his Bali trip to write Dreams. His sister says he spent months in Bali with Michelle. David Remnick in "The Bridge" says, "...he spent a month alone, writing in a rented hut on Sanur Beach, in Bali."
The Obama narrative is a fraud.

Under the "Libya policy is looking more and more like Bosnia policy" file (via Drudge):
U.S., allies see Libyan rebels in hopeless disarray
U.S. government experts believe the state of the opposition is so grave that it could take years to organize, arm and train them into a fighting force strong enough to drive Gaddafi from power and set up a working government.
The realistic outlook, U.S. and European officials said, is for an indefinite stalemate between the rebels -- supported by NATO air power -- and Gaddafi's forces.
"At this point neither side is able to defeat the other and neither appears willing to compromise," said one U.S. official who follows the Libyan conflict closely.
And with any luck, we will soon have our first UN authorized "safe haven" in Misrata to keep NATO busy on the ground too!

You hide the real birth certificate, or destroy it, or whatever, because it destroys the Obama narrative which has been carefully manufactured.
Why does it destroy it?
Because, firstly, Barack Obama Sr. is not his biological father, and -- secondly -- Barry Soetoro is his name. And those exotic lies cannot be easily explained away. The white liberals who swooned over him (remember, black people didn't swoon over this dude until told to do so) needed that African exotic component to get the ever-loyal black masses to rally to the cause -- the exotic Indonesian step-father Soetoro would never have passed muster with the black women of America. Not even close. And without those crucial black women, Barack Obama the politican ain't hitting on diddly-squat. But him standing there next to Michelle, with those two girls, and that manufactured African narrative?
Magic.
His curious and secretive behavior isn't about his place of birth, it's about his mama's REAL baby daddy and his mama's subsequent Indonesian adventure, Barry's Indonesian citizenship, and Barry's Indonesian passport.

As flippant as we are, spent part of today reading a related posting about a German philosopher I was not familiar with.
Turns out he was the architect of the view of education that crafted such a special sense of the Volk and a person's role within it that it launched 2 world conflagrations.
He was only trying to make the Germans recover from Napoleon's victories. The eerie part is that his quotes were almost verbatim of certain mainstream writing now on why the community must come first and pursuing self-interest is the source of all evil.
I wrote in the margin that when you push down individualism like that, there is no safety catch among the people.
Those silly degrees we talked about on the other thread do matter because they empower ignorance in too many cases.

RSE,
Some Popper wouldn't hurt but I would defer to others here as to a specific recommendation. AFAICT, the Bad Seed is the result of a romantic infatuation begun in the heart of the Endarkenment. A heavier dose of Montesquieu and a more complete understanding of Locke might have strangled the monster engendered by the ill fated coupling of Rousseau and Hegel in its filthy crib but there was only one Witherspoon and one Madison among the Founders and few beside Burke on the other side of the water. They were engulfed in a tide of infatuated idiots which has flooded and ebbed ever since.

There's not too much difference, which is why I said "strictly speaking." It is slightly different, though, since a sealed certificate can be obtained with a court order, while a destroyed certificate obviously can't be.

The gist is that this is the same guy who made death threats that prompted Palin and her friend Cole to get a temp restraining order several months ago. He is now threatening to rape Willow and plans another trip to Alaska. Palin has filed for a permanent order.

How far advanced do you suppose Sully's mental deterioration has advanced by now?
It seems rather complete to me..

Definitely flooding at the moment. And to think that the Rep's are borrowing or printing to fund a Race to the Top 2.
Popper is interesting because both sides see something in him and want to cite.
No use for historicism but also cited as pushing a more subjective view of science.

You know, MJW, you made me think a moment. Since it cannot be obtained except through a court order, perhaps that is why the latest incantation from the registrar's office that we saw the other day says that no one, not even the principal party, can obtain the long form. Putting two and two together, this statement, which seemed a lie, since many have shown they have their own long forms, including my Granddaughter, may, in fact, be technically true.
It makes it even more strange that he wouldn't produce what is on file. I can think of only one explanation, using my daughter's as a reference. Her certificate was amended to show my husband's and my name substituted for the original parents' name. The only other info changed was to correct my birth date and my husband's to reflect our ages at the time of her birth. (We were three years older at the time of the official adoption.) And our occupations and pertinent places of birth of mother and father were changed to match our info at the time of her birth. They even show my husband at the lower rank he had on her birthday and not the promoted rank he had at the time of the adoption. All other info remained the same. Hospital, doctor's sigs, etc.
I have a legal question. If he could only prove with the long-form on file after the adoption, but took the oath of office using Barack Obama, is his swearing in legal?

If it were me, and my adopted father and natural mother were divorced and I wanted to go back to my original name, I would just produce the certificate and explain that although Barry Soetoro is my legal name, I prefer to use BHO, Jr., my birth name. People use A.K.A.s all the time.

Wow! One of the great things about JOM is that you post tells you that you are up past your bedtime. Good nite, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Sun was not a communist, but he was a revolutionary, an attendee of Punahou, curiously enough, and some did manage a certificate of birth, even though he was born in China

My mom finally came across town to visit. It was real emotional at first because it had been almost ten years. But she left real soon "because of the stench and the abuse".
So I got hammered and came here to troll yall.

Jim Moran voted yes for the budget.
McClintock, Bachmann, West, Pence, Joe "you lie" Wilson voted no.
This can't be good. I know, I know...later. We're gonna stop spending later... :(

Unlike everyone else I don't know where Barack Obama was born. I'm not prepared to take his word on anything.
My theory is that Obama's birth was registered by his grandparents and there is no certificate signed by a doctor. The fact of registration enabled Obama to obtain a Certification of Live Birth, which he released through the dicks at KOS, of all places.
Obama has spent millions fighting against a Court Order that he reveal what doesn't exist. If enough States require a LFBC to be on the ballot Obama won't seek a second term. That's my hope for change.

Narciso, thanks for the 09:48 PM link.
We really need to make every effort to stop the insanity of allowing them to:
"Another Obama Constitutional Grab in the Works"
Why would any Republican put their name on this bill?
