Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a love child ten years ago and finally told Maria earlier this year. Disappointing but not surprising.
IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a leading candidate for President of France, is arrested on sexual assault charges and may face similar charges in France on an alleged incident from 2002. Shocking.
Donald Trump has ended his self-promtional blitz and won't be running for President - utterly unsurprising but disappointing.
Mike Huckabee won't be running in 2012 either. Baffling.
Men these days?
Well, my nephew just graduated Marine Basic last Friday. Could not be more proud.

Considering the stakes, isn't it possible that DSK was set up?
Impossible. How many people knew in advance that he was making this trip, which was personal, not official? Most important, the fact is that the hotel thought he'd left, as it was noon and he hadn't asked for a late checkout. That's the only reason the maid went in. No way that could have been planned. A setup would have had someone come on to him at a bar in the evening, the chamber maid coming in for "turndown service."

I'm not saying it's likely that it was a set-up, especially with the call to her brother, *especially* if she's really a Muslim, since rape is no defense against stoning in that case.
Do we know what the physical evidence was? Is there really blood and semen? I didn't read everything out there on the subject. Do we know he was scratched or beaten?
Since he's a socialist, I hope it's true and he does hard time, although I'd rather it was Obama. But if he was a conservative, and Sarcozy was the socialist, I'd be pretty suspicious, and would like to see the evidence.

I have read today that France will not extradite a French citizen. I wasn't aware of that and don't know if it's true. If it is true then I don't see how bail can be offered in this instance. Perhaps the prosecutor could make a kind hearted offer to proceed to trial within 30-45 days so that the rapist isn't put to any undue hardship?
Surely the rapist's attorney can suborn the perjury necessary to sustain a "she wanted it" defense within a week or two. Additionally, if the rapist doesn't hurry additional women are going to keep showing up and giving the prosecution juicy pattern of conduct tidbits that the judge just might allow.

I heard Christie on Hannity earlier, and he was asked this question. Very wishy-washy answer, along the lines of "Well, I think it's pretty clear that climate change is happening. The question is what's the cause, and more importantly, what should we do about it. We support energy independence programs in New Jersey related to solar and wind energy," etc. I wasn't very impressed, especially after Hannity brought up the Mann data corruption stuff and Christie pooh-poohed that without so much as an acknowledgement.

This is from Yahoo News:
-- The IMF chief faces seven charges that carry a maximum total sentence of 74 years and three months in jail. They include two counts of criminal sexual acts and one charge of attempted rape.
1842 GMT: According to the charge sheet against Strauss-Kahn, the IMF chief allegedly "grabbed informant's breasts without consent; attempted to pull down informant's pantyhose and forcibly grabbed informant's vaginal area; forcibly made contact with his penis and informant's mouth twice and; was able to accomplish the above acts by using actual physical force."
1735 GMT: The seven allegations against Strauss-Kahn listed in the charge sheet are two counts of criminal sexual acts in the first degree, one of attempted rape in the first degree, one of sexual abuse in the first degree, one of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, one of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree, and one of a forcible touching.
1732 GMT: The first sentence of the charge sheet against Strauss-Kahn, which lists seven separate alleged offenses, reads: "The defendant engaged in oral sexual conduct and anal sexual conduct with another person by forcible compulsion."
Also, the maid was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital after the attack.

"Well, I think it's pretty clear that climate change is happening. The question is what's the cause, and more importantly, what should we do about it. We support energy independence programs in New Jersey related to solar and wind energy,"
The first sentence is pretty clearly true because it is always changing. The second sentence isn't bad because it differs from the AGW nutjobs who would've said people cause it and we have to implement radical cures. The last sentence is a little disappointing except it's what you'd expect from a politician who chooses not to alienate people on an issue that isn't that important for him to make a stand on.

The Kennedy women were trained from birth to keep their pious heads down and accept that powerful men have powerful urges that have nothing to do with them. Rosemary's mental illness was more about her not wanting to submit to the Kennedy mantra of being some man's doormat while he was out banging every skirt in town and talking back to Papa Joe.
She was very bright, but also volatile. Who wouldn't be in that male dominated environment? Seems all the other women/wives buried their discontent in the bottle or in drugs and moping around like Jackie, whereas she let 'er rip and Papa Joe wasn't about to put up with her with his, Joe, Jr and then Jack's aspirations of high office at risk. I don't think Joe even told Rose until it was a done deal. Now that, to me, is something much more unforgivable than any infidelity. I don't know how she could sleep under the same roof with him, let alone in the same bed, after that kind of betrayal of her and her daughter.
