Cecil Turner

Good grief. When this is the quality of the narrative:

“Nothing about the broader point about bin Laden is inaccurate,” said National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor. “He is someone who has been sitting comfortably in a home in a suburb while he counseled others to engage in fights. I don’t know what’s not true about that fundamental point.”
Silence is the only viable option.

Miss Piggy

I found it offensive as well.

Captain Hate

Silence is impossible to those tools.

anduril

Steve Sailer reflects on things to know...and thinks not to know: Our Man in Islamabad (and Kabul, too) ...

Ignatz

“Nothing about the broader point about in Laden is inaccurate,” said National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor. “He is someone who has been sitting comfortably in a home in a suburb while he counseled others to engage in fights. I don’t know what’s not true about that fundamental point.”

Is there anything in that statement which is not true abut our CiC, or frankly any other CiC, except that Bin Laden at least did go out and fight at times.
There's no moral equivalence here, but all commanders, even terrorist ones spend most of their time at the office.
This is the best we've got?

MayBee

Well, at least he didn't try to resurrect the "AlQaeda is racist against Africans" argument.

Old Lurker

So as noted on the other thread, my gal Lindsey and Lamar are worried about pay back if we block cloture? Don't they know precendents apply only to our side?

WSJ and WaPo both report that a deal is close on the Debt ceiling increase and I for one do not like the sounds of it.

Thomas Collins
"counseled others to engage in fights."

So now it is the Administration's position that bin Laden was a therapist?

MayBee

He wasn't just a terrorist. He was a bully.

Sue

How funny would it be if Obama couldn't go to Europe because he might get arrested? Of course, I'll argue to the death that what he did was not illegal, but the irony of him being stuck here, in a country he hates, because of his actions on Sunday, are too great to ignore.

Ann

Twitter from Rumsfeld's office:

While I’ve not seen the #OBL photos & there may be good reasons not to release them, I haven’t heard any yet.

hahahahaha

Captain Hate

Sue, the real irony is that he probably did next to nothing but his urge to be a super action hero might get him nabbed.

Ann

This is from facebook:

Joe Miller
Take a look at this headline and you'll have a better understanding of what we're dealing with here in Alaska

Photobucket
Headline: Bin Laden was unarmed

Dave (in MA)

OBL wasn't a terrorist. HE was a man-caused disasterist.

narciso

One almost feels sorry for him, but then the
smug expressions makes me reconsider

--He wasn't just a terrorist. He was a bully.--

LOL, Maybee.

--How funny would it be if Obama couldn't go to Europe because he might get arrested?--

Heh. I was thinking that the other day when someone mentioned Bush had to be careful where he went. Wouldn't it be racist not to arrest Barry, since he's clean and articulate?

--Don't they know precedents apply only to our side?--

Of course they do, OL. But on the one hand there's country and party and on the other there's smashing Georgetown soirees. Easy choice.

Self-detonating

Oh, BS, I know for a fact that he had four airliners hidden about his person.
===========

Yep, it's a job for law enforcement. Call the local Bobbie.

Sad ol' Dersh seemed most concerned about preservation of forensic evidence.

Appalled

The thing we are seeing is that, even when successful, this President can't escape the problems cause by his administration's collective vanity, and their love of the European version of international law.

If they had restrained themselves to "He's dead. We killed him", and avoided the propaganda and fog of war fibs, the press would not be spending so much time trying to unravel their stories.

Ironically, the President is undercutting his ability to keep the dead Obama snuff pix secret, by having aides tell stories that have little or no credibility. Because its the evasions that people will fixate on, and this will get a whole "OBL is still alive!" mythology going. I would hate for the Prez to have another pissy news conference six or eight months down the road, simply because his folks felt they needed to make the OBL story sound better to (i) get an extra percent bump in his ratings or (ii) avoid a visit from the International Criminal Court.

lyle

So Carney isn't up to the job? Smack my gob. I've never seen more incompetents in my adult life.

On the other hand, I'm waiting for...oh, I don't know...Amnesty Intl., Intl Red Cross, or any assorted American Law prof to charge Obama with a war crime...any time now.

lyle

I would hate for the Prez to have another pissy news conference six or eight months down the road

Yeah, that'd be a real shame.

Ignatz

--The White House goes dark--

Not certain, but I'm pretty sure that's racist, TM.

lyle

And...as Veep, Biden is complicit, too, as well as SecState. Well, Biden might get a pass as there are laws against prosecuting retards.

Extraneus

I've never seen more incompetents in my adult life.

No kidding. Look how towering the hack Panetta appears in contrast to the rest of them.

narciso

Meanwhile, you think their attitude to the military might have abated, no, it's nor 'in their nature'

Appalled

Um --- If anyone cares or noticed, I meant to say dead Osama snuff pix above.

Captain Hate

Exactly Ext; prior to this Panetta has been an object of continual derision. Now he's at least the tallest midget in the room.

matt

So Obama is figuratively spiking Osama's head at Ground Zero this morning. Like I said last night, I don't believe in coincidences. It makes no sense at all to have scheduled a May visit when the 10th anniversary is 4 months away.

Sue

Appalled,

The Secret Service has been kept busy, just keeping up with you and me. ::grin::

Sue

Just read a story about one of the 9/11 families that declined the invite.

Invite declined by Vigianos.

Danube of Thought

Very good read--a Team Six guy describes BUD/S training.

lyle

What with Panetta leading boy wonder to, y'know, actually do something for the country clearly against his squemish will, I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't the "Revenge of The Clintons" visited on the dipshit who usurped the crown.

Too conspiritorial? The you underestimate them. BTW, I felt this way when she took the job at State. I turned to the missus and said, "watch out, Bammy."

matt

Michael Yon has just published a copy of the new Information security Regulations issued by the Obama administration. Heh....LUN

Porchlight

Were all 9/11 families invited? I think I read somewhere that they were "selected" but I don't know if that's true. I feel like it must be true since there isn't capacity for 3,000 families.

I would bet that even Obama is regretting this GZ idea now.

Porchlight

I'm with you, lyle. Clintonistas are smelling like a rose this week, comparatively speaking anyway.

lyle

Conspiratorial

lyle

I would bet that even Obama is regretting this GZ idea now

Somehow, I doubt it, Porch. If it's about him, he doesn't regret anything.

Goat Plucker

"Very good read--a Team Six guy describes BUD/S training."

Are they trained on how to respond if someone throws their bedroom slippers at them?

MarkO

Hey, I said pillow. I'm sticking with my story.

lyle

If there was still doubt in anyone's mind about the priorities of the man-boy's admin, especially DoJ, check out Henninger's column today. LUN

Ignatz

Nice post at Flopping Aces titled Why Bush Didn't Get Bin Laden.
Whether the thesis is correct, reading a chronological list of the left's attempts to thwart the WOT is always useful.

fdcol63

I saw Candy Crowley yapping with Wolf Blitzer on CNN at lunch, regaling the heroism of Obama in ordering the raid, and just wanted to puke.

Because we all know their response would be totally reversed if this had happened under Bush.

Danube of Thought

I've always detested Panetta less than just about any other Democrat, and I kind of admire the guy now. Not sure he would have been my pick for CIA (or DoD), but they gave him the job and he did what he had to do.

Danube of Thought

Think about it: one day this silly shit will wear the English crown.

Washington - America's appetite for beef is jeopardising the world's water supply, the Prince of Wales said during a visit to the US. In a speech in Washington, the Prince said that the need for vast amounts of irrigation in industrialised food production was threatening to deplete reserves of the "magical substance we have taken for granted for so long". "For every pound of beef produced in the industrial system, it takes two thousand gallons of water," he told the Future of Food conference at Georgetown University.
fdcol63

DoT, hopefully QE2 will outlive the moron.

clarice

DoT, If I hadn't lost my magic powers when I got to kindergarten, I'd have given him his first wish:To be a tampon in Camilla's whatsits.

fdcol63

That, of course, presupposes that Camilla has a whatsits. LOL

Queen Lizzies Vag'

And its taken a whole lot more urine to prop up your bullshit, Charlie Barley. How much H2o you reckon that's used up, you touchhole pandering shill.

Questions Abound Over How Fake Bin Laden Photos Duped Lawmakers

After telling reporters he had seen an image that confirmed Usama is "definitely dead," Brown later said "the photo that I saw and that a lot of other people saw is not authentic."

A Brown staff member claims the senator received the picture from someone he believed to be "a reliable source," the Boston Herald reported.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., were also among those lawmakers to have viewed a fabricated picture.

"The photo I saw was shown to me by somebody who represented it to me as bin Laden after he was shot,” Chambliss told reporters Wednesday, adding that the digital image was sent to him by someone who was not a government official.

"I have no idea where it came from," he said.

But he was willing to swear by it, just to shut up the proles.

Old Lurker

Porch, Rush said 50 were selected, one of whom declined to attend pending proof OBL is dead.

Captain Hate

I know I'm biased but is anybody else getting a weird feeling about the strange things that Scott Brown is saying with increasing frequency?

Extraneus

I think he was wrong about that, OL. See the new thread.

Ignatz

Panetta used to be a Republican and has one towering strength the rest of these morons don't; despite his political views he's an actual grown-up amongst a Romper Room full of poseurs.

Jack is Back!

DoT,

Good book for iPad. Just pre-orded my copy. He got lucky with the timing. Still trying to find his interview with John McCaslin this morning.

Queen Lizzies Vag'

Wasn't Leon Panetta Bubba ClinTone's chief of staff? He knows where a few bodies are buried. Maybe he knows where Binny Ladeen's body is?

With the exception of Twinkle Butt Rahm Emmanuel, a chief of staff has to know how to take out the trash at least. The rest of these people around President Kenya Rot, aka "the Czars", do not know if their bums be drilled or bored.

matt

as I recall Panetta was a Democratic congressman from central California. If a republican at one time, it was a long time ago.

Rob Crawford

Headline: Bin Laden was unarmed

So was Yamamoto.

Heck, so was most of the crew of the Bismarck.

Old Lurker

Ext, I think the new thread says the same thing.

Extraneus

Yeah, I saw that an article that said one guy declined because of the spam-like invitation, and someone else, who wasn't invited, wanted proof.

Jack is Back!

Yeah, I saw that an article that said one guy declined because of the spam-like invitation, and someone else, who wasn't invited, wanted proof.

Ext,

Proof of what - Obama's COLB or Osama being dead?

Frau Steingehirn

I've always detested Panetta less than just about any other Democrat, and I kind of admire the guy now."

In the land of the castrati, the person with a deep voice is king, DoT.

Ignatz

--as I recall Panetta was a Democratic congressman from central California. If a republican at one time, it was a long time ago.--

Yeah, back in the seventies I believe. IIRC he started working for Nixon.

Extraneus

OBL, Jack.

jimmyk

Rush said 50 were selected

I wonder how they were chosen. To get 49 of 50 on short notice seems pretty extraordinary.

jimmyk

"For every pound of beef produced in the industrial system, it takes two thousand gallons of water," he told the Future of Food conference at Georgetown University.

You think Chuckie even realizes that all that water eventually comes back as ... water?

Army of Davids

Looks to me like Democrats (Pelosi, Holder) should get a political pounding over pushing prosecution of CIA agents for "enhanced interrogation techniques"

AL

How hopelessly dumb one should be to not understand the picture in LUN?

AL

Or another picture in LUN?
