Speaking at the University of Richmond in the home turf of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, one of his top Republican foes, Obama picked up right where he left off Thursday night, when he implored lawmakers to quickly enact the as-yet-to-be introduced bill.
"Let's pass this jobs bill right away," he said, echoing his prime-time speech to a joint session of Congress in which he used a variant of the phrase 17 times. "Let's pass this jobs bill now and put these folks to work."
Yeah, then he says this - "“I want you to call, I want you to e-mail, I want you to Tweet,” Obama said as the crowed cheered. “Facebook … Send a carrier pigeon.”
What is it with leftists & this backward march in time? No energy, live in darkness, grow food in your yard, trains, carrier pigeons?
And who's gonna make those calls and fly those pigeons?
"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.
"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.
Hoffa is in trouble, those in the Tea Party are far better armed (and have more firearms too).
Speaking of which... Whether in NYC, Venice, Italy or mourning doves in the yard, I find pigeons and their ilk to be the least romantic of all birds, by far. Their mating practices are downright Clintonian.
Butler said the program he inherited in January was virtually bankrupt and "fraught with problems," so he is surprised it has attracted so much national attention.
Obama gave no details of how the program would be applied at a national level and Butler said his office had had no contact with the White House.
No, glasater, she was in Ft. Bragg but didn't sound "Southern". I bet she was a military spouse. I sound look and sound much like that chubby tv cooking lady who's big on using gobs of butter...but whose name escapes me.
It was pre-Let's Move, of course. I mean, it's Paula "Butter Is A Girl's Best Friend" Deen.
The pair prepared fried shrimp for Deen's show and Deen said, "I can tell she spends time in the kitchen – she was very relaxed when we cooked. And that lady is a good eater."
Well. Paula certainly had her eating habits pegged.
"My fear is that they are making him look as bad as possible now, so that they can engineer a Big Comeback later."
Porchlight,
What would be the basis of the Big Comeback? The market reaction today provides a correct assessment of the negligible economic impact of King Putts' proposals (if enacted). The majority of the money goes towards maintaining the status quo - slow bleeding accompanied by very low BP and almost undetectable respiration.
I've been watching for any sign that the Feeling Muddle has started to become sympathetic towards the simpleton but all I'm seeing is growing distaste interspersed with bouts of nausea.

Btw, Mark Steyn on Rush today was cranky as all get up. He is now calling JEF President Pass The Bill. I think we are watching American folklore in the making.
Hey, peter, thanks for that pigeon book recommendation.
From one of the reviews:
"Read Pigeons and you'll never look at Trafalgar Square, the Piazza San Marco or Bryant Park the same way again."
I know it's OT, but has anyone else here ever watched the pigeons in St. Mark's square in Venice close up? They're disgusting. Thousands of pigeons clustered together, and it's nothing but a giant rape party. Each female is beset by numerous males, and every time she gets away from one, another jumps on.
I've been feeding and watching backyard birds for years, but I've never seen such a thing in other species except for mourning doves, where in the yard it's usually only one-on-one, but otherwise no different.
Do goldfinches do this? Robins? Woodpeckers? Hummingbirds? No. Only pigeons.
So, Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm, claims that Lincoln founded the Republican party and only right wingers notice? Yet Michelle Bachmann calls John Quincy Adams a founding father and you would have thought she said Barack Hussein Obama was stupid, the way the media carried on.
"What real business person would hire someone in order to get a tax credit? Not a tax cut, mind you, but a one-time gift. A lollypop from Obama, paid for by you and me."
On local talk yesterday a business gal went spastic hollering about this. Something to the tune of "They want me to hire a new worker I can't afford at $40,000 a year (with an extra $20,000 I have to pay for his mandated benefits), in these uncertain business times when we have no idea what the hell they're going to tax and regulate next, and I'm s'posed to do all this for a friggin' 4,000 dollar 1 time reduction in my Tax rates. Is he 'Effing' Nuts?"
Was a beautiful call.
I was so impressed listening to our locals respond on the 3 AM Talk channels I was clicking through.
Especially wonderful was 1 host beautifully commenting on Obama's plan to create a Jobs bank with our money so he and the Union Bosses could pick the next Industries to be funded, and compared that perfectly with the complete collapse of Solyndra, an Industry picked by the Pres and Union Bosses to be funded.
Guy called in and said "That speech could have been given by any member of the Reichstag, since that bit about using our money to create the new jobs bank and then them picking the industries to invest in was the epitome of National Socialism."
Hope you had as much fun listening on your local channels.
Now that is my kind of recipe. So many of you JOMers are good cooks...but this recipe is perfect for me. :)
I'll even plagiarize it & add it to the JOM cookbook. I'll call it the Lousy Pea recipe.
(Steyn hit all of those words and their various degrees of mirth while discussing the Milbank article about the Congressional laughter during Obama's BIG speech.)
Extraneous - You can find similar behavior in some species of ducks, including mallards, and in dolphins. (And probably in many other species, but those are two that come to mind.)
"That speech could have been given by any member of the Reichstag, since that bit about using our money to create the new jobs bank and then them picking the industries to invest in was the epitome of National Socialism."
That is it exactly. Obama's speech was given solely for the purpose of proposing this new National Bank under the guise of creating jobs, jobs, jobs for all the "folks" out there. All the rest of the "speech" was filler.
What Putts needs is more cowbell and columns.(Man, watching this is like watching The Man Who Would Be King when the natives realize he's simply mortal, not divine.)
Heh, I caught that last night when Obama stated Lincoln founded the Republican party, I looked at my husband and said What?? He's got that wrong.
We live about 40 miles from Jackson, Michigan which was named after Andrew Jackson and advertises itself as the home of the Republican Party.
Awfully unusual for the AP. And delightful.

Heritage Foundation review of the big speech:
President Obama "Spender in Chief"
Posted by: Extraneus | September 09, 2011 at 05:52 PM
"Ingredients
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
2 cans (14 1/2-ounces) English peas, drained"
Is this the "Eat Your Peas" thread?
"fed it to the kids, told them it was peas with cottage cheese"
You've got to be kidding!

Btw, I'm out here with the birds, listening to chuckling, cackling, tittering, chortling and guffawing over the English Peas comments from inside.

Just for interest, that Arizona Nuke Plant, Palo Verde, was the location of this story last month: Illegal Alien Breaches Security at Arizona Nuke Plant.
Also enjoyed this Laura Ingraham question of concerned Pollsters at NBC: Ingraham to NBC's Todd: 'I Don’t Remember You Saying Pollsters Were Concerned About Bush’s Poll Numbers'.
Hope somebody keeps asking that exact same question of Todd until the SOB finally answers.

Union Goon of the Day. *Strong language warning*
I thought it was maybe Rahm Emanuel.
Those Tea Partiers are really stupid...not like these upscale Union members.

Extraneous - You can find similar behavior in some species of ducks, including mallards, and in dolphins. (And probably in many other species, but those are two that come to mind.)

I know you're a teacher, and I suspect I use them too often, so I ask: Why? Didn't it improve the sentence? Was it really wrong?

Funny inappropriate comment at that Weasel Zipper Union Goon video -
"He said his name was “Phuk-yu Koksuuker”. Which is a fairly common Finnish name."

I'll never look at dolphins the same again.
Posted by: Extraneus | September 09, 2011 at 06:16 PM
That is it exactly. Obama's speech was given solely for the purpose of proposing this new National Bank under the guise of creating jobs, jobs, jobs for all the "folks" out there. All the rest of the "speech" was filler.

Heh, I caught that last night when Obama stated Lincoln founded the Republican party, I looked at my husband and said What?? He's got that wrong.
We live about 40 miles from Jackson, Michigan which was named after Andrew Jackson and advertises itself as the home of the Republican Party.
