Perhaps there are some here, Matt, whose life could be examined microscopically and their lifetime of virtue and reason would emerge unquestionably. That's not me, though, and maybe that is few of us.

AB,

That's not me either. I sometimes wish that it were otherwise, and that at 18 or 20 years of age I had been imbued with the knowledge and wisdom I now have acquired through the intervening years.

It always seemed that my parents and grandparents were born wise. It must have skipped a generation in my case ;-)

Porchlight

Barbara,

Not me either. Lord help my kids if they ever run for office and the media gets hold of what their mother was up to in her 20s. Well, perhaps they'll be Democrats and it won't matter.

My parents were impossibly conservative and hard hearted when I was in college. Then I worked for two years, went to law school and served four years in the army. Gradually, I realized they were right and I was full of it during those college years. And my professors in college were not flaming liberals either so I can' t blame them.

Barbara-Lurking

Don't look for me to be running for public office anytime soon, either! What a trio of miscreants we Barbaras must have been in our heyday! LOL

Barbara-Lurking

B-L, I don't know your situation, but my reaction to your "having ended up being the one who monitors his schooling" was Yikes!. And he's a teen? Double-Yikes!!

DebinNC, surprisingly, considering his age, and the fact that he's had his dad to himself for a decade, we get along quite well. I didn't mean to make it sound like I took on the role of monitor unwillingly. I sort of goes with my nature, for better or worse!

Barbara-Lurking

my bad!

OORAH!

From TC 's link about the BoSox selecting Bobby Valentine as their new Manager:

"By choosing the high-energy, colorful and highly opinionated Valentine, the Red Sox are going with the more polarizing..."

Sounds to me like the writer is describing a sub-atomic Quark in Particle Physics.

Jane

I think everyone in our generation was a miscreant. I certainly could never run for office, altho I think a bit of a miscreant history is probably good for the job.

Sara

Still, it's a miserable slate of candidates. The best of the lot didn't even know what the %$#@! right of return was.

Are you being paid by the DNC to announce DOOM and misery every day?

Barbara-Lurking

I think a bit of a miscreant history is probably good for the job

Yeah, Jane, but you can't put it on your CV, so what good does it do?

Sara

There has been a general sink in Obama's ratings lately, after it looked like he was
recovering a bit -- anyone wondered why?

His numbers go up when he is out of the country, he is back now. And, all over TV, there are democratic pollsters and analysts going on and on about how Odummy should not run again, etc.

Or, as Mark Twain put it succinctly (though for a slightly different age range): "When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished by how much he'd learned in seven years."

I certainly have no information to support this, but I get the impression that regardless of his enormous ego Obama will do whatever he is told to do by Soros, et al. The question is, who would the democrats put up and how would they do it without some sort of riot. No matter what Hillary says, she and Bill would like another term or two in the White House.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

Mark was right, jimmy.

Extraneus

I think I've entered that ignorant stage myself. Better start hitting the books.

Sara

What worries me is that Obama and minions will plan some kind of almost tragedy involving BO. Something that will garner days, if not weeks, of headlines, something that will garner national sympathy. A pretend attempt on his life or something surrounding his family. I put nothing past the dems in general and the Obama campaign team specifically.

Melinda Romanoff

Ex-

READ books. Hit hurts. (bodda dem hurts, heh).

Sara-

Not BO, MO.

Stephanie

Mel,

I did not put that bear trap in front of that lobster pot, I promise.

Threadkiller

Jim Rhodes, funny you should mention Peter Rabbit . We are reading The Tale of The Flopsy Bunnies right now.

:-)

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

Flopsie, Mopsie, Cotton Tail and Peter?

If you will send me your address via email I'll mail you one.

Even I have never solicited home addresses over the internet.

Now who's the stalker!

I can't remember who it was -- but there was someone who made a part of their case against John Roberts's nomination to the Supreme Court by saying that a justice should have suffered some sort of hardship in his life.

hit and run

"suffered some sort of hardship" was also amplified by something along the lines of ... not been such a straight-laced, by the book guy, never making mistakes, never indulging in youthful blah, blah, blah"

Alas, I can't find it on google.

daddy

Well I want to say, after having listened and read and mingled with you wonderful folks these last few years, that I am convinced that each and every one of you are just like me---Pure as the Driven Snow!

However, I think I also need to say, (being the guy who is probably more familiar with Driven Snow than any of the rest of you guys), that Driven Snow is full of Moose Poop and Dog Shit and frozen pee and all sorts of other yucky, gross and bad disgusting forgettable stuff that we all sorta' hopes nobody ever digs into or even worse, steps into.

So that observation out of the way, let me say again that in my opinion you guys are all Pure as The Driven Snow. Just like me:)

narciso

Well that's where one seems to find McLeod, Moore, Munger, and company, daddy.

Benjamin Franklin

Obama has his first Convention challenger.
