Occupy Charlottesville got kicked out and arrested early this morning by the liberal (80% Dem) city. The park was left full of trash, mattresses (blech!) and unwanted furniture (sofas, chairs, etc.) The city had their crews and some contractors there by 8am to start hauling the stuff to the dump. This afternoon, libs will drive by in their Priuses and intone, "Well, look at the park. It's clean. Occupy sure cleaned up after themselves. I bet you couldn't say the same about the Tea Party. Prolly left their demonstrations trashed." Count on it.
Occupy said, "Well, then we'll just camp out at UVa at their little park." UVa's COO promptly posted a letter at that park stating that this would not be tolerated as it would be a health and sanitation hazard.
Narciso, what that does link does not say is what McIver found out in the last 24 hours: the GAB will not check for duplicates, will not check for valid addresses, will not check for obviously fake names (e.g Daffy Duck), and will not check to see if a signer is a valid WI elector (e.g over 18, resident, citizen, non-felon). In effect the GAB plans to spend $650,000 to punt. Walker will have 10 days to vet signatures when the GAB is done with them.
For those wondering what the Tea Party folks are up to, they are organizing volunteers to put the names and addresses online and crowd-source the vetting. This allows people like me to verify that no one at my address signed (I'm the only valid elector at my address).

The unexpected rise of a strong ultraconservative Islamist faction to the right of the Brotherhood is likely to shift Egypt’s cultural and political center of gravity to the right as well. Leaders of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party will likely feel obliged to compete with the ultraconservatives for Islamist voters, and at the same time will not feel the same need to compromise with liberals to form a government.
“It means that, if the Brotherhood chooses, Parliament can be an Islamists affair — a debate between liberal Islamists, moderate Islamists and conservatives Islamists, and that is it,” Michael Wahid Hanna, an Egyptian-born researcher at the Century Foundation in Cairo, said this week.
Janet, I hate to defend the guy, but that was simply Jughead introducing Pooty-Poot's puppet to a bunch of American dudes and not what the hysterical viral meme was claiming.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/snubbed.asp the full video shows Zero and Medvedev being led into the Ministry of Silly Walks and managing to shake hands without the aid of a teleprompter.
The guy who shot the border patrol agent was a CI informant and seems to have been there because he was gien info on a drug shipment to be made in that aea.
By dawn, trash, flattened tents, strewn clothing, bedding and the stench of urine were the legacy of the Occupy LA.
"It's so contaminated that it doesn't even make sense to sort it out," said Jose Garcia, sanitation superintendent of the city north central district.
An estimated 25 tons of trash and debris were to be carted away by mid-afternoon. Workers were finding bottles of urine throughout the camp.
"That's probably the biggest hazard there," Garcia said.
That is not very eco-conscious of the Occupiers, to leave so much trash like that. It's almost as if they don't really love and respect Gaia. I'm so disappointed.

narciso, I am sure that Obama's actions made the situation worse, but liberal democratic institutions and parties take time to develop..a long time--even on fertile ground which Egypt is not.
Hmmm, let's see. Islamists now in control of Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and Egypt and on the march in Syria.
Remember that historic, magical speech that Barry gave in Cairo about how all those mid east countries were yearning to be free and how much credit it deserves for the Arab Spring?
Neither does he.
Memory holes-R-us.
I think it had more to do with the Ayers/Dohrn ME tour last February and March, giving seminars on using social media to facilitate "grassroots" uprisings.
It is not clear if the information was provided intentionally, but a possible motivation for the FBI to provide the information is known to exist: the CI had previously lost a shipment of drugs, and wanted to regain the trust of the cartel with an offering of drugs or money. The other possibility is that the FBI mistakenly allowed the CI to discover the information.
The CI used this information to organize an ambush of the drug convoy. A source tells PJM that the FBI knew from wiretaps that the CI was using their information to set up an ambush.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) — through its own CIs and communications intercepts — was also aware of the planned assault.
Neither the DEA nor FBI warned Border Patrol about the expected criminal activity.
So, two Federal Law Enforcement Agencies new about the planned ambush, and took no effort to ensure the Border Patrol wouldn't stumble into it.
Now, here is the worse part:
The existence of a third recovered gun, an SKS carbine, has been disputed by the FBI despite the fact it had been talked about openly in the beginning of the investigation among federal agents.
Multiple sources tell PJM that this third weapon “disappeared” because it was the weapon carried by the FBI CI who ran the rip crew. When it was recovered near the scene of the murder and subsequently traced by the ATF, it traced back to the FBI CI via the gun shop in Texas where it was purchased.
That's getting very close to obstruction of justice there.
"One memory particularly troubles Theckston. He says that some account executives earned a commission seven times higher from subprime loans, rather than prime mortgages. So they looked for less savvy borrowers — those with less education, without previous mortgage experience, or without fluent English — and nudged them toward subprime loans.
These less savvy borrowers were disproportionately blacks and Latinos, he said, and they ended up paying a higher rate so that they were more likely to lose their homes. Senior executives seemed aware of this racial mismatch, he recalled, and frantically tried to cover it up.
Theckston, who has a shelf full of awards that he won from Chase, such as “sales manager of the year,” showed me his 2006 performance review. It indicates that 60 percent of his evaluation depended on him increasing high-risk loans.
In late 2008, when the mortgage market collapsed, Theckston and most of his colleagues were laid off. He says he bears no animus toward Chase, but he does think it is profoundly unfair that troubled banks have been rescued while troubled homeowners have been evicted.
Anyone who thinks that the MSM's influence is overrated should ask themselves: what would happen if the media investigated Fast and Furious like they investigated Watergate or Iran-Contra?
IMHO it is solely because the media has largely refused to report on F&F that Holder is still in office. Fair reporting would also have a good chance of guaranteeing an Obama defeat - something that is by no means guaranteed otherwise.
The MSM still has tremendous power, whether it be by commission (e.g. destruction of Palin) or omission (Obama scandals).
If the PJMedia account is correct...and I assume it is...then someone on the inside is talking an that means a lot of FBI and DEA folks are rushing out to buy depends.
The Insider said yesterday Holder will be going very soon. I'm starting to think he might be right. As I say, there is obviously someone on the inside-probably at DoJ or the FBI talking.
Geez, Porch. Even if they investigated it like they investigated Bush legally firing US Attorneys.
Yes, exactly. Gonzalez was on the front pages every day for a year, which in turn allowed them to use the phrase "embattled President" in thousands of stories about Bush, whether or not the stories had anything to do with Gonzalez.
CLOSE to obstruction, ranger? How much closer could it get without destroying evidence?
Posted by: Clarice | December 01, 2011 at 11:44 AM
Well, I was giving them the benifit of the doubt, since the report doesn't say the existence of the weapon was denied to prosecutors or other law enforcement agencies, only to the public. I also suspect they did obstruct justice, but that's not clear from the report.
I completely agree with your comment about the MFM, Porch.
And, speaking of the media and politics, does anyone besides me think Romney has really wounded himself by first refusing to appear with a panel on Center Seat, then only agreeing to have Brett Baier come to him sans panel, acting all thin skinned and defensive when asked questions, and, finally, berating Baier for those questions? What in heaven's name is he going to do if he is the candidate and he is surrounded by liberal media 24/7?
I agree Clarice, the Insider said that Issa teed it up for the judiciary which will take testimony a week from today. I predicted on the radio today that he would be out before the end of the year.
That's all fine, but I want him prosecuted and jailed.
One memory particularly troubles Theckston. He says that some account executives earned a commission seven times higher from subprime loans, rather than prime mortgages. So they looked for less savvy borrowers — those with less education, without previous mortgage experience, or without fluent English — and nudged them toward subprime loans.
Well Ben, let's ask ourselves why those incentives to write sub-prime mortgages were created?
Could it have something to do with the Community Reinvestment Act and threats by Federal Officials to sue banks that didn't write enough sub-prime mortgages?
Its would seem that perhapse your beloved government regulations may have been the proximate cause for the incentives that so deeply anger you.
To be fair, I think many on the right would like our candidates to be more combative, or at least not allow themselves to be pushed around by liberal media. That's a primary reason for Newt's ascendance. The problem for Romney is that he comes off defensive and thin-skinned, as you say, rather than confident and in charge of the argument, as Newt does.
I wonder if Romney's handlers told him to try to be more like Newt and this is the result?
I hope whoever is informing PJ has the skill for maintaining anonymity that Deep Throat possessed. Participation in the federal witness protection program is obviously out of the question.
And a question for consideration:
Do state AGs of e.g. Arizona or Texas have jurisdiction to conduct an investigation into F&F for possible prosecution of state crimes?
The unexpected rise of a strong ultraconservative Islamist faction to the right of the Brotherhood
Wow...there's a group in Egypt even more committed to securing liberty by restricting government to its legitimate purposes than the Muslim Brotherhood? More opposed to government interference in society or commerce which elevates one group or business at the expense of others? More impassioned about equality before the law? More outraged at tyranny?
That's a primary reason for Newt's ascendance. The problem for Romney is that he comes off defensive and thin-skinned, as you say, rather than confident and in charge of the argument, as Newt does.
I only caught a bit of the interviews, but my impression is that Romney makes it more personal ("How dare you ask ME that question?") whereas Newt tends to put his objections in more general and principled terms ("That question misses the point" or "That question is based on a false premise"). That's a big difference.

TC, It's not today, and I wanted nothing for tomorrow but a home grilled prime steak and salad.
CLOSE to obstruction, ranger? How much closer could it get without destroying evidence?
Posted by: Clarice | December 01, 2011 at 11:44 AM
Geez, Porch. Even if they investigated it like they investigated Bush legally firing US Attorneys.
Posted by: MayBee | December 01, 2011 at 11:44 AM
If the PJMedia account is correct...and I assume it is...then someone on the inside is talking an that means a lot of FBI and DEA folks are rushing out to buy depends.

Iggy: "Hmmm, let's see. Islamists now in control of Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and Egypt and on the march in Syria."
To repeat myself...why do you think he says he needs another term to finish the job?

The Insider said yesterday Holder will be going very soon. I'm starting to think he might be right. As I say, there is obviously someone on the inside-probably at DoJ or the FBI talking.

Very funny,OL.

Yes, exactly. Gonzalez was on the front pages every day for a year, which in turn allowed them to use the phrase "embattled President" in thousands of stories about Bush, whether or not the stories had anything to do with Gonzalez.

HB-1, Clarice.

I agree Clarice, the Insider said that Issa teed it up for the judiciary which will take testimony a week from today. I predicted on the radio today that he would be out before the end of the year.
That's all fine, but I want him prosecuted and jailed.

Clarice, I only read the Insider when someone here provides a link and don't have it bookmarked. Can you post a link, please?

Well Ben, let's ask ourselves why those incentives to write sub-prime mortgages were created?
Could it have something to do with the Community Reinvestment Act and threats by Federal Officials to sue banks that didn't write enough sub-prime mortgages?
Its would seem that perhapse your beloved government regulations may have been the proximate cause for the incentives that so deeply anger you.

Thanks centralcal.

But we like it when Newt pees OUTSIDE the tent. Picking a fight with Fox's teddy bear is stupid. He's lucky it was not Brit doing the interview.

I only caught a bit of the interviews, but my impression is that Romney makes it more personal ("How dare you ask ME that question?") whereas Newt tends to put his objections in more general and principled terms ("That question misses the point" or "That question is based on a false premise"). That's a big difference.
