Captain Hate

I told him if Obama authorized that I'd have to give him a lot more credit than I do.

That's like somebody who's confused by the basics of checkers turning into the second coming of Bobby Fischer. Although El JEFe has the requisite Jooooo hating down pat and is probably fascinated by gameboy gadgets.

Rocco

I still think the Russian Avtobaza brought down the drone

MayBee

There's this whole school of thought about using pop art Mao not to honor him, but to make him campy and impotent. It was quite popular in Hong Kong and a big theme in the store Shanghai Tang.

from narciso's 10:54 link - Katharine Hayhoe at PBS

Her faith: Evangelical Christian

What she hopes to appeal to in people: Their love rather than their fear"

What we have here is a failure to connect the dots.

LUN is a Dan Mitchell take on Europe. Looks like he shares our sense that this is no solution and makes matters worse.

Sometimes when I am reading various machinations we are not supposed to know about that have been put into partial effect with a hope for more, I wonder if my children's generation was to have been the last to be able to say "I remember freedom". That's the way the EU political class makes me feel as well. We have a class that truly believes we exist to fund them and a big part of their job is to try to obscure the extent of the servitude.

Actually Red despairs for her generation already in terms of not knowing fundamental history facts. Ripe for the picking from propaganda already. With manufactured manipulation points the manufacturers are quite familiar with. And we are largely unaware they are there.

Doesn't "secretly embedded in the curriculum" seem like a line that should be struck for being melodramatic instead of being published intact in professional journals?

Jane

And Mr Left doesn't live in MA. Imagine that.

Captain Hate

rse, he has the right solution: Let them default and the people who created the problem will be on the hook.

None of this should be surprising to anybody; even the lefty New York Review of Books commented on the formation of the EU that no country adhered to the minimum financial requirements for inclusion. With their castle of sand built on lies, what could go wrong?

Benjamin Franklin

Attack their strengths; is the strategy. So what should the DNC attack on Gink, his MotorMouth? Lol...

http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum

"I see that Karl Rove's PAC unveiled a preposterously deceptive ad yesterday claiming that Elizabeth Warren is unfit for the Senate because she's....wait for it....too close to Wall Street. Yes, you read that right. Here on Earth Prime, of course, Warren is perhaps one of the financial industry's most loathed figures. Saying she's too close to Wall Street is sort of like saying Ralph Nader is too close to General Motors because, you know, he spent a whole year researching a book about the car industry.

So why choose such a comically outlandish attack? Well, keep in mind that Rove is famous for believing that you should always attack your opponent's strongest points, not just their weakest. And obviously Warren's whole reputation is based on being the Scourge of Wall Street™. So something had to be done about that.

Ignatz

Anyone else notice that whenever Barry or Stedman are caught doing something like, say, selling guns to and laundering money for Mexican drug cartels, or giving preferential treatment and taxpayer money to their billionaire cronies, suddenly those disingenuous leftists who all yap about how much they detest, revile and don't support the "centrist" Obama suddenly start running interference for him with phony propaganda about events from 20 or 30 years ago?

Benjamin Franklin

""Just think of what happened after 9/11. Immediately before there was any assessment there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq," the Texas Republican told a group of mostly young backers in Iowa. He went on to suggest officials are now setting the stage for an invasion of Iran...." Ron Paul

Me, I wouldn't call it glee, exactly -- I'd say the reaction was more along the lines of "Well, there is a silver lining, isn't there?," even if no Bushie ever said that out loud.

But it doesn't matter what I think. What matters is that Paul fans love this and every other Republican hates it, because the Bush reaction to 9/11 was holy and divinely inspired and absolutely appropriate and how dare you suggest otherwise, you filthy hippie. With this and with his universal opposition to foreign aid, including aid to Israel, as well as to exciting wars against brown Antichrists in general, Paul rules himself out as someone who could go down to the wire with Mitt Romney and deny Romney a first-ballot victory if Newt Gingrich falters. There's a ceiling on his potential vote total in GOP primaries and caucuses -- so if the race is going to come down to late states in which he and Romney are the last candidates standing, with the delegates in those states being awarded on a winner-take-all basis, Romney's going to run the table and coast to the nomination.

Ranger

Hmmm... major rallies in Russia agains the government, the kind of thing Ben-Dana loves to trumpet when it happens in the Arab world or some left wing city, yet today he decides to dredge up Iran-Contra and the "crimes" of the Iraq war.

I take this as an indication that the Fast and Furious stink starting to stick to ObamaCo.

Rick Ballard

The House called BOzo's bluff on the pipeline yesterday. I like the timing. They allowed the message from the President of the Parasite's speech to sink in and begin stinking up his already pathetic approval rating before smacking him with a half frozen flounder.

Reid has already announced his intention for the Democrat Senate to reject extension of the FICA holiday extension. Let the President rail about do nothing Democrats for as long as he wishes.

Clarice

I'm with Mr Left on the drone and really happy to hear about Amanpour.

Clarice

Rick, Nice to see the Dem master strategerists at work, isn't it?

MayBee

I could be with Mr Left on the drone, but I feel certain Brennan would be out bragging about it if it were true.

Gmax

OOPSIE! Remember when the left pundits were all aflutter about OWS? Dr Frankenstein has lost control of his monster:

"Everybody I talked to said the DNC is ground zero for everything," said one organizer. "Everybody wants to be involved. We're estimating several thousands of people coming especially from the Occupy community." The idea of an alternative convention has been floated, while another Occupy organizer called the DNC "a powder keg."

Benjamin Franklin

Ranger/Gmax again. When will they cock-puppet?

Via Kaus, this is a good piece from Kinsley:

Gmax

Dana you really are the lamest douchebag that I run into in quite sometime. Whatever are you prattling on about now?

Just for amusement, why dont you go give a student a "b" for the semester, instead of the special olympics treatment of everyone getting "a". It must be boredom at that backwater no name institution that brings you here, so go ahead add a little spice.

And no one reads you cut and pastes so really is there a point or is it just a random mike check?

Ignatz

Following up on my earlier link about Lightsquared, Mr. Falcone has received a Wells notice that the Feds are probably pursuing fraud charges against him for among other things giving preferential treatment to Goldman Sachs.
I see why Pelosi Galore spent so much time talking about the culture of corruption; it's the preachy Dems stock in trade.

Old Lurker

rse, your 11:25 story about insurance wealth illustrates perfectly why inflamatory estate and death taxation for redistributive purposes are not really very necessary. It is a rare fortune that survives three generations just for the reasons you cite. That old "shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves in three generations" thing was apt and stands the test of time, most of the time.

U.N. Floats Global 'Climate Court' to Enforce Emissions Rules

United Nations climate envoys have proposed the creation of a global "climate court" that would be responsible for enforcing a sprawling set of rules requiring developed countries to cut emissions while compensating poorer countries in order to pay off a "historical climate debt."
Rick Ballard

Clarice,

Can Reid keep the Democrat Senators in danger of defeat to continue sucking the poisoned chalice dry? President Parasite's leftward lurch has to have left a number of endangered Senators quietly vomiting and there has to be a point at which they just announce retirement or tell Reid to shove it.

The case for 60 Senate seats is improving on a monthly basis.

Ranger

Ben-Daana, I guess that observation that you earn a very comfortable living taking middle class families' life savings and putting kids in debt for 20 years stung a bit.

Ranger

Looks like they are preparing the faithful for disappointment:

Time runs short for climate deal

Many hours into an unscheduled extra day, some ministers have already left, and the South African hosts have yet to show a strategy for closing the deal.

Further delay was caused by the distribution of a fake document purporting to be an official text.

The real texts would see a process leading to a new global emission-cutting deal covering all countries begin next year, finishing by 2015.

Sounds like they self sabatoged the conference to have an excuse for failure.

narciso

Volodya's little gambit about encouraging the Occupiers, and like minded fellows, Thom Hartmann, Ray Mcgovern et al, seems to have backfired. Then again, the leaders of this latter day Decembrists are worthy of emulation,

Clarice

Rick, yes it is.

It's a wonderful world at the UN when a railroad engineer can get a cushy job, a Nobel prize and a worldwide audience for spreading lies about the climate in the hope enough rih ccountries will hand over money to others.

Alas, poor ellow, nothing this fortuitous lasts forever.

Gmax

UH OH another Obama supporter under scrutiny? Phillip Falcone who is involved in both Harbinger Capital and Lightsquared, is being investigated by the SEC. And to add gasoline to the fire, he has put up gates to prevent withdrawals from his fund, but allowed Goldman Sachs to withdraw their funds.

CH,

You are correct. Starting in 2009, the game was moved to the 2nd Saturday of December so as not to have to compete with BCS conference championships and increase their TV market. They will continue to rotate between Phllly and DC.

There is so much tradition with this game it would be difficult to discuss it all. Perhaps DoT can fill in the blanks I leave.

You have the 13th Company of midshipmen running the ball to the venue so they can be taken off the yard. Then you have the prisoner exchange between the two. I think it is selective 2nd year personnel spend a semester at each other's campus and then are repatriated back to their own billets before the game.

Anyhow, being Air Force, I still think this is the greatest football game played (either pro or college). No matter the score, close or lopsided, you never see any player quit or academy personnel stop rooting and cheering on their team. I call it the "role model bowl" because if every young man and woman in this country watched this game you would see a big improvement in self discipline, motivation and dedication as well as unselfish commitment.

BTW, this could be Army's year. Whatever it will be a lot closer than the previous years.

Mugabe Says He Will Not Retire

HARARE, Zimbabwe -- Zimbabwe's 87-year-old president said Saturday he will not retire before proposed elections next year and will stay on also to lead the country against what he called a Western campaign for regime change.

President Robert Mugabe, addressing 6,000 delegates at the end of his party's annual convention in the second city of Bulawayo on Saturday, said it would be "an act of cowardice" for him to step down. He has ruled Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.

"On Oct. 27, the Charlotte city manager released a draft ordinance that makes camping on public property a "public nuisance" and would prohibit "noxious substances," padlocks and other camping equipment that city officials fear could impede traffic and create public safety issues."

My fair city now has its own measly (much the size of a "training bra") Occupy encampment outside our small city hall. Residents have been requesting the officials use the city's camping ordinance which prohibits people from sleeping in tents on public property. Our flacid city council spoke through the overpaid city manager who said the protesters "are not inviolation of the intent of the ordinance."

I would call him a weasel but do not want to insult weasels, ferrets and or even doxies.
