Rick and Mitt are having a smirk off. I think Mitt's grin is more irritating.

I will go back to watching paint dry, if this doesn't pick up.

I think Rick and Mitt will cancel each other out. They are already losing me as far as listening.
Posted by: centralcal | February 22, 2012 at 08:29 PM
Did they only invite friends of Romney to sit in the audience?
THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT EAR MARKS#$%^&*
Palin would be talking about TRILLIONS IN STIMULUS, OBAMACARE.
Good Lord Help Us PLease.
Posted by: Ann | February 22, 2012 at 08:30 PM
I'm not watching. But, that doesn't stop my continuing amazement that the GOP will go on these shows with these moderators. The outcome is certain to be sound bites and film clips for the Obama re-election.

John King is letting them kill themselves. CNN has a new trick!
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 22, 2012 at 08:31 PM
Severely conservative Mitt who permanently banned scary weapons for his state blathering endlessly about earmarks. Moderator, Noot, please move these assholes off of this and back to real topics.

John King screwed up. Thought he would get someone to screw up on the bailout, but he had em all nodding their heads to what Noot was saying. He had to go to break so he could break it up then go on to the next gotcha.

Good morning.
It's 7:08 in the morning in Bangalore India, and I've got Mittmentum on tube.
Uh oh, here's an angry Rick responding.
Now Newt. The other car industries were great. Barrack violated 200 years of bankruptcy law to pay off the UAW Union.
Ron's turn. It's like the Government is rewarding successful bank robbers as opposed to allowing the Free Market system to work.
What an amazing world that I can get in an Airplane (invented and developed by Private Industry), fueled by gasoline (discovered and developed by private industry), fly around the planet, turn on the TV (invented and developed by private industry), powered by electricity (invented and developed by private industry) and comment instantly around the world to you guys via my laptop, (invented and developed by private industry), and watch our 4 candidates railing at Obama who thinks Government control of everything is the way to go.

Oh I'm here Iggy, but after 20 debates I think the live-blogging ship has sailed. I will say I loved Newts comment about the media not mentioning Obama's support of infanticide, mostly because it will really piss Obama off.
Posted by: Jane | February 22, 2012 at 09:01 PM
Because Mitt and Rick want to see who can out petty each other, Bill.
Posted by: centralcal | February 22, 2012 at 09:01 PM
Let's do it beauty contest wise.
Mitt is the best looking. Admit it ladies. With that distinguished bit of gray around the ears like Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, Mitt would make a good Mister Fantastic in a remake. The stretchable FF uniform would work well. Very light blue striped tie.
White haired Newt is grandfatherly. Would make a good character in a remake of Elf. Can do the friendly benevolent look. Purple tie, but it works.
Ron. He could play a character lying in the gutter on a bender. Nervous tics Red tie with white dots.
Rick. Youngest of the bunch, lookswise. Clean skin, a little like a High School Baseball Coach. Nice light blue tie.

I'm disappointed that someone (Newt) didn't bring up the fact that the whole contraceptives issue now dominating the news cycle was bizarrely introduced out of nowhere by a Democrat media operative who was "moderating" the NH debate, and that it could not have been coincidental that the regime's mandate came out soon after.
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | February 22, 2012 at 09:07 PM

Gary Lott from Kingman Arizona asks the following question--What will you do to protect our Arizona Border?
Paul. Bring the troops home. Quit rewarding illegal Immigration. Why isn't it considered trespassing and why can't we stop that. Shot of Newt looking bored during Ron's answer.
Perry is in the audience. He looks good. Rick Perry laughs at Newt's joke. Rick Perry would make a good character in a cowboy flick.
Newt questions the premise of the cost of a fence as presented by John King. Always a winning strategy as evidenced by the audience applause.
Can't remember what Mitt said. Nor Rick. Less memorable than Newt's "Build the Fence" comment.
Posted by: daddy | February 22, 2012 at 09:12 PM
the only reason employer sanctions work in AZ is because that is the only tool LEO's have thanks to Zero, and SFB Napolitano. Sheriff Joe makes extensive use of it to the great chagrin on stupid libs who pushed it - and what he does with it is nail the ID forgers

He did Dave. Well Mitt brought up Stephanopolus and said "now we know why he brought up contraception" and then Newt went on the infanticide rant.

Kent Taylor from Arizona asks "How do you plan on dealing with the nuclear threat in Iran."
Newt-Takes King's question and does a nice job educating King and the audience on the background problems with King's question.
Santorum agrees with Mitt's answer. Find out what ever Biden's position was as a Senator re Foreign Relations and do exactly the opposite. Mitt laughs---3 "Heh's.

I have to leave for a dinner invitation, darn it, but I think it's been a compelling debate with all four candidates doing well. Mitt started slowly, but gained as he went along and in the past half hour or so has been masterful, in my opinion. Newt's had a good night too. I even would give kudos to John King, for being (mainly) fair and intruding very little. Sorry to be such a contrarian, but I'd call it a good evening for Republicans and I enjoyed being an observer.

Posted by: centralcal | February 22, 2012 at 09:50 PM
Applause for Rick sounds canned. He is putting on the sixth hole but the clapping is on the seventh tee. Weird.
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 22, 2012 at 09:51 PM
Mitt is coming across to me as hi-strung tonight, speaking very rapidly. Seems to me to be nervous, stutters a bit, and starts a sentence and then swaps and does a different sentence in mid-stream. Not a deal killing behavior, but in comparison to Newt's much more precise and better thought out and stated answers, it comes across as slap dash and IMHO, ineffective. At this stage in the Campaigns I wish he was better, since he's probably the guy who's going to go up against Obama. I wouldn't say "Doom" yet, about the Election, but I'll certainly say "I'm scared to death with him as our nominee."
Even Rick speaks at a slower clip than Mitt.
In terms of debate skills I'm seeing tonight, I think its Newt 1st.
I don't think Mitt tonight is making a convincing case that he will be better in debate against Obama than Rick Santorum.
Ron Paul is a mess.
Posted by: daddy | February 22, 2012 at 09:52 PM

Noot did very well but he is under a Fred Thompson like news blackout by MFM. You won't hear a word about him on MFM or the clean togas, or anyone. Mitt made T1000 look like a poor fake - pasted grin, and what seemed like memorized answers pull from a tape library. Santorum did OK, but argued too much with T1000 about things King wanted them to argue about. ron Paul belongs in a rubber room.

Gergen sez Mitt.
Erick Erickson sez Newt.
Donna Bazille sez Repubs' came across as being against womens health Issues and not as against preserving Constitutional Religious Right's. She's happy about that.
Ari Fleisher sez she's wrong, and that probably Dem's saw it as Potayto, Repubs saw it as Potahto.
Arizona's Governor sez she really likes what Newt said about Border enforcement.

I think they were all passable tonight but Newt was the most pro liberty and anti-Obama. Ya gotta give Paul credit for hanging in there, given his age and foreign policy infirmities.
Why, oh why, do the candidates keep bending into the propeller blades of the MSM. The GOP leadership (or establishment, or whatever it is) has finally convinced me to consider going Indy. It breaks my heart.
