Jack is Back!

Who is "his" Daddy? Isn't that the question?

OT: Just when you thought Tom Friedman could not do more damage to his credibility he writes this carp

bgates

Further comparison: Joe the Plumber was 34 in 2008.

the reason I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about Malia and Sasha

Good heavens, how much are those two spending on contraceptives?

daddy

Thank goodness Obama's daughters are being kept out of the political rhetoric.

Ben Franklin

Don't know if any have been following the Stratfor doc dump on Wikileaks, but there is some good/ bad news.

First the good; Our government is getting pretty good at rat-f***ing.

Now the bad; Our government is getting pretty good at rat f***ing.

Captain Hate

At the risk of continuing to give this sideshow much more attention than it deserves, has anybody asked Fluke for her reaction to the comments or has this 30 year dependent been traumatized into being completely mute or autistic and adults have to speak for her?

Chubby

As Hannity said yesterday, that was when an honest press would have asked him: considering the gross rhetoric used by Bill Maher against politically active women, are you going to tell your PAC to return Maher's million dollar donation to your campaign?

crickets

MarkO

When does he start asking their advice?

A Casual Observation

Yeah, who'd want to joke about those cute little monkeys?

GMAX

Zero pulls just 57% of Democrats in Oklahoma? LOL there just might be a bit of an enthusiasm problem on the D line, do ya think? LOL

GMAX

It long past the time to scroll past any and all of the offerings of ACO, he adds no more than the other nonentity, the featherman.

daddy

Some reporter needs to ask Sandra Fluke if she will appear on the Bill Maher or Ed Schultz show, and if not, why not.

A Casual Observation

AW gee, now you've gone and hurt my feelings, asshole.

Chubby

exactly daddy.

they can run but they can never escape their hypocrisy. Why? because they are hyprocrites through and through

Danube of Thought

I'm with Gmax.

You can wait and wait for a reporter to ask Fluke a tough question, but you will wait in vain.

A Casual Observation

daddy, she was already on Ed Schultz's show two days ago, playing the victim, of course, and, of course, Schultz and his panel distorted the issue to conceal and to divert attention away from the valid points which El Maha-Rushie had made ...., alas (sob!), to no avail.

centralcal

Speaking of reporters, get a load of Tom Brokaw:

Tom Brokaw imitates white man overbite

And, yes, he is mocking Romney. Sheesh.

James D.

JiB - note this quote from Zero that Friedman uses approvingly in his blatherings: "If Iran gets a nuclear weapon, this would run completely contrary to my policies of nonproliferation."

MY policies. Not "Out policies" or "America's policies". Is there any limit to Zero's ego?

Never mind, that question answers itself, doesn't it?

Threadkiller

Rush should have said she acted stupidly. Then he would be just as good a role model as Obama.

Captain Hate

And, yes, he is mocking Romney. Sheesh.

Ehh, that doesn't bother me; it's part of being a public figure. Tammy Bruce imitates Furkel all the time. What's offensive is a stuffed shirt like Brokaw would never do something like that, including using a racially specific term, to El JEFe.

Ben Franklin

Relax, people. Another October Surprise is being cooked up.

'Game Change'...exponentially.

Go to link on 2010 preamble.

http://consortiumnews.com/2012/03/07/an-israeli-october-surprise-on-obama/

jimmyk

What's offensive is a stuffed shirt like Brokaw would never do something like that, including using a racially specific term, to El JEFe.

The unwritten rule is that you're allowed to make fun of your own race/religion/ethnic group, not others', which is not so unreasonable. But I can't imagine Juan Williams or any other black news person mocking Barry like that either.

Thomas Collins

BFF, I am stunned that a consensus seems to be developing that an Israeli attack on Iran in October would hurt Obama's reelection chances. I think there would be at least a 60 day surge of support for Obama, notwithstanding spiking energy prices. Plus, if Iran responds with a missile attack on Israel and terrorist attacks on US citizens (whether in the US or abroad), it is inconceivable to me that whatever military action Obama takes against Iran wouldn't result in a spike in support that would last until after the election. That is, in my opinion, an Israeli October surprise turns a close election into a comfortable, say, 54-45 popular vote victory for Obama with a far higher percentage for Obama in the Electoral College.

Ben Franklin

TC; You're trying to cheer me up, and I appreciate that.

Did you read the 2010 article?

jimmyk

TC, I'm not sure why an Israeli attack, if seen as happening without US support and against Barry's wishes, helps him. Of course if it were successful he would try to claim some credit somehow, and if it were to fail he would go into his "As I've always said..." routine. But in general, if it's done without US involvement it makes Barry look like the "voting present" dufus he's always been. That can't help.

A Casual Observation

Nah, Ben, you're not paying attention. What Netanyahu's speech before AIPAC told us is that American Jews both in the USA and in Israel are gearing up to turn out in droves again to support and to vote for Obama. That won't be a "surprise". That was predictable. Nix the smoke 'n mirrors.

Rocco

In the absence of the Israeli agitation, the nuclear activities of Iran — which does not have a nuclear weapon and probably has not to date made a decision to make one — would percolate along with many other national-security matters worth watching and addressing but not worth beating a war drum about.

This youtube called "The Coming Is Upon Us" contradicts this foolish notion. It's not like they've threatened to wipe Israel off the face of the earth! I recommend everyone watch it.

Bangor Daily News now reporting that Congresswoman Pingree will not run for the Senate, she will remain in the 1st District re-election.The many Democrats who showed interest in the 1st District seat will likely back out. No doubt former Gov.King will split the Democratic vote.

Melinda Romanoff

TC-

You assume that Mr. Present will act.

I bet not, and is why there's so much "leaking" about Israel having already decided it's a "go".

Ben Franklin

"why there's so much "leaking" about Israel having already decided it's a "go"."

cites? Most of the leaking from Israel (Haaretz) about Iran's nukes is reportedly because they want to distract from economic troubles at home.

Thomas Collins

Yes, BFF, I read the 2010 article. However, my opinion on what would happen this year in unaffected by whether I think the assertions in the 2010 article are correct. I am basing my opinion on the short term reaction of people to hostilities. The reaction might not last beyond two or three months. By February of 2013, people might be questioning whether Obama's policies have left us overly vulnerable to unrest in the Mideast. But by Feb. 2013, Obama will have had another chance (admittedly with the help of the Chief Justice) to once again bollux up the oath of office.

Jimmyk, my thinking is that an Israeli attack is likely to quickly lead to actual US/Iran hostilities, or such hostilities being on the horizon. Once again, this may result in a reaction against Obama. But I don't think any such reaction would occur until after Nov. 6, 2012. Persuadables in the dozen or so swing states, I would think, will support their Prez on Election Day 2012. And, if Iran responds with terrorist attacks against the US, it's all over for Romney. Obama's response would almost certainly result in a short term spike in support.

I would think that if Netanyahu wants to sink Obama as well as destroy the Iran nuke program, he would attack within a month to maximize the likelihood that a "second look" at Obama's policies would have had time to develop among the US electorate.

Comanche Voter

The Bamster may have been an "oldster" when he graduated (or was given a social promotion) out of Harvard Law, but he's still infantile after all these years.

daddy

Thanks Marlene.

Thomas Collins

Or, Netayanhu's main goal may not be to unseat Obama. Netanyahu and Barak may be thinking as follows: If Israel attacks Iran in Oct. of 2012, Obama will have no choice but to support Israel. Obama's reelection may be a price Bibi and Ehud may be willing to bear if Israel can get facts on the ground vis a vis Iran and Hamas closer to the way they want them to be (remember that a Hamas attack and Iranian missile attacks in response to the Israeli attack would likely be met with an overwhelming Israeli response, and Obama would be in no position to act like Ike did in the Suez situation in the 1950s).

Jane

I am stunned that a consensus seems to be developing that an Israeli attack on Iran in October would hurt Obama's reelection chances

I assume, if Baraka is losing badly enough in October he will start a war with Iran to keep him in office.

Ben Franklin

TC; IYO, can Israel carry out an operation without US assistance?

Here is the summary of an article (scrubbed) from JTA (Israeli news)
about recent events. I reference the stratfor data dump above.

http://www.cyberwarzone.com/cyberwarfare/wikileaks-release-says-israel-destroyed-iranian-nuclear-infrastructure.

I can see how that news org would want to scrub a news article, which was based on false info from a sting operation (stratfor),
but it was an FBI operation, not CIA, although NSA dredges everything, because it has idle personnel with nothing to do except troll.

Is this a cover story, to bury accurate data regarding Iran's current status on nukes?

Thomas Collins

Mel, I'm positing a situation in which Obama will have no choice but to act (that is, Iran and Hamas attacks against Israel, and Iranian sponsored terrorism against the US, in response to an Israeli attack on Iran). Obama might not want to respond with a muscular military action, but Axelplouffe will tell him it's the only way to save his POTUSey.

Jane, it would be bitterly ironic if a financial crisis in September 2008 and a military crisis in October 2012 will have propelled Obama to two terms (remember that before the Lehman collapse, McCain/Palin had a steady lead in the tracking polls over Obama/Biden).

Ben Franklin

"Or, Netayanhu's main goal" Obama is like Colin Powell, he wears suspenders AND a belt. You're right about Bibi. He is apolitical about US politics as long as the tide rolls with his goals.

But, you are forgetting about CIA goals, the third leg of the obtuse triangle.

Melinda Romanoff

Jane-

Yep.

AliceH

OMG, BF made me laugh. the third leg of the obtuse triangle. That was really quite good.

Thomas Collins

I'm skeptical of the Stratfor article, BFF, although I can't claim any inside knowledge.

I would think Israeli commando strikes and air strikes, at the very least, would do enough damage to goad Iran and Hamas into attacks which would lead to more Israeli strikes, or might result in the toppling of the current Iranian regime. I think Bibi and Ehud's key calculation here is that, if they are going to attack, better to attack now than to attack after Obama is reelected.

I think if Israel could achieve the toppling of the Iranian regime without bombing Iran, Israel would prefer this. But I think Israel may see time running out for a strike on Iran prior to Obama totally being unleashed to be Obama (that is, a reelected Obama). Even if Bibi concluded Mitt had a greater than 50% chance of toppling Obama, that would be too much of a risk to Bibi to wait and see whether the Iranian regime could be toppled without military action.

I am basing my analysis on the assumption that, no matter what Walt and Mearsheimer and Waltz and other national security commentators may think, Bibi has decided that, with nukes or without, the current Iranian regime must go.

NotSara

Romney has now said that a president is not responsible for rising gas prices! Goodness me! And he also says he will not make outrageous attacks on the president! IF, he can make attacks, as he has been doing in the primaries against Republicans, why on earth can he not make attacks against Obama?

AliceH

uh oh Another Open Tag faux pas. Time to set the laptop down.

Melinda Romanoff

TC-

I wouldn't be that surprised if the inertia of inaction would change as the electoral horizon approached. The knee jerk reaction by ValJar will be to "let it go". The impact of same will force a late "pivot" to save an election, with full throated press support of his thoughtful delay, which begs the question.

Will it sell?

NotSara

When did the italics start?

NotSara

It is horribly sad that, as a country, our president will decide to go to war to win re-election. Or, has that happened before?

Jack is Back!

LOL. Ha'aretz as a reliable source:) When I lived in London, I subscribed to the English edition to keep track of a particular project I was following. They are great on the local news level esepcially Tel Aviv but short on the defense, security and foreign relations end. They are also the most widely read liberal POV paper in Israel. They are the DEBKAfile of the left. IOW's take with a grain of salt - both.

If you want an excellent source close to the IDF, Mossad and Foreign office, I recommend Isracast.

Jane

Just think about that. A man so corrupt he would go to war to get re-elected. History will not be kind to this man.

lyle

I assume, if Baraka is losing badly enough in October he will start a war with Iran to keep him in office.

Another "gutsy call", huh? I don't see it happening, though. It's one thing sending in the SEALs to take out some garbage, it's quite another to order airstrikes against the mullahs.

Let's face it. Despite the slobbering over Il Douche's "gutsy call", he really doesn't have the guts for anything save attacking faith-based institutions or Supreme Court justices or "fat cat" bankers or greedy Wall Street or Republicans or [fill in blank].

Government Spends $11 Million to Clothe Two People

The [Detroit] Department of Human Services granted $11 million dollars to Detroit to provide business attire to job seekers. Two people were helped.

[snip]

That's okay, though, because good intentions are what really matters. According to the audit, the DHS was supposed to help 400 people. You see, it's just that the funds were mismanaged.

400 people. That comes out to $27,500.00 per person. See, it was a good plan. It was just mismanaged.

NotSara

WEll, history may not be kind to Obama, but I think he really will not care. He will have served two terms, made a lot of money and will continue, out of office, to make tons of money. AND, history books can always be re-written. Just consider what some of the books in schools are teaching re history today.

Ben Franklin

"I'm skeptical of the Stratfor article, BFF, although I can't claim any inside knowledge."

I can summarize the available 'facts'.

1. Wikileaks obtained stratfor (private intel service, very cozy with CIA) emails.

2. Contained in those emails was the one cited above regarding Israel's 'successful' destruction of iran's capability.

3. The emails were supposedly on the Stratfor server, but were the FBI's.

Can you work with that?

James D.

It probably will sell, with every voice in the MSM united at full volume to sell it 24/7.

Can't you picture it? Endless photo ops of Zero in meetings with generals, pundits discussing how the failures of the Bush administration made war inevitable, Romney (or Santorum, or...) voluntarily suspending their campaign because our national security and the lives of our brave troops are more important than petty electoral politics, etc.

And enough of the people who get their news from glancing at the headline of the newspaper as they walk past it on the way to work in the morning, from five minutes of Good Morning America or Today during their morning coffee, of from Letterman or Leno's opening monologue, will buy it hook, line and sinker.

Extraneus
Among the most telling findings, which will be discussed today during a City Council committee meeting, is that a third-party contractor advanced $148,000 to a downtown Detroit clothing store and opened an account, but did not include the city on the account.

"It's just another example that money is not as much of an issue than managing the money, whether it's grant or general fund dollars that we have," said Council President Pro Tem Gary Brown. "We have to find a better way to manage the resources and give Detroiters the value for the tax dollars they deserve."

The audit is the latest finding against the city's Department of Human Services, which has been under scrutiny for chronic mismanagement of federal funds. Many of the department's leaders have departed since an internal investigation was launched last year, including an inquiry into the purchase of $182,000 worth of high-end furniture for a department office. In 2009, the department received more than $11 million in stimulus funding and created a service center.

The center, at 1970 Larned, included the Customer Choice Pantry, the New Beginnings Clothing Boutique and a call center that had the capacity to service 60,000 families in need. The boutique was to provide business attire for low-income residents for job interviews.

To receive clothing, residents were required to have a job interview scheduled. According to the audit, the DHS was supposed to help 400 people between October 2010 and September 2011 but instead served only two.

"The DHS was only able to provide the auditors with two referral forms signed by two clients documenting that they received clothing from the boutique," the audit said. "Eligible Detroiters are not being served with available clothing being stocked in the boutique."

Sorry for the length. I couldn't bear to snip any of it.

NK

I will absolutely go bonkers if anyone here (other than the troll stable -- Hat Tip to BenF, who's actually been quite polite and even jovial the past 2 days) talks about this Fluke woman as being anything other than a 30yo money grubber. She wants her patented BCs (no generics for her!!!) and she wants someone else -- i.e. you and me-- to pay $1000/year for them, and she wants us to pay for transgender surgery on demand. Sorry Flukey-- fornicate as much as you want, however you want, as whatever gender you want-- just pay for it yourself (or get Carbonite to pay for it.) That's what this is about; that's her agenda. Please frame the issue correctly -- I'm looking right at YOU TM-- for God's sake.

Actually, Neil Munro did ask Obama about the sluts: http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/06/obama-shrugs-off-supporters-sexual-insults-of-gop-women-bemoans-rushs-rhetoric/

Fair point. But I would posit that these people are already predisposed to vote for the jive ass punk. Who watches those TV shows anyway?

Wonder when Barry is going to call poor James Inhofe to commiserate after RFK Jr. not only called Inhofe a "call girl" but has now tweeted that he stands by his words rather than apologizing.

Hmmm...

MADISON — A Wisconsin judge on Tuesday granted a temporary injunction to groups trying to stop the state’s controversial new voter identification law.

LUN for article

James D.

NK, it's not even about fornicating. She (and everyone who she represents, which is a depressingly large number) wants free stuff, full stop.

It's not just BC. It's not even just free gender-reassignment surgery and the attendant treatments (which she's advocated for in a law review article she wrote), it's ultimately free everything.

They want free day care from birth until school age, then fre school from kindergarten (with free before and after school care, and free breakfast and lunch of course) straight through to grad school(ISTR reading that Ms. Fluke is on a "public interest" scholarship, so she's already got the free grad school thing down), free food and housing indefinitely for anybody who doesn't really feel like working, free health care forever.

And of course along with that, no rebponsibility to actually make good decisions for themselves, no responsibility for any kids they may have (see free day care and free breakfast and lunch above), no responsibility to each their kids values or indeed anything at all, no responsibility to help take care of their parents or grandparents (government will take care of that, free, of course).

Free everything! Forever! Yay!

lyle

fornicate as much as you want

I seriously doubt she's getting that much action in the first place, personally. Self-righteousness is rarely as antecedent to intimacy.

however you want

If she's so open minded, there are several acts that don't require contraception. Surely a 30 y.o. "activist" would be aware of them.

as whatever gender you want

See above.

Nah, this can't be true: Indian reporter for Iran news agency arrested for bomb attack in India on Israeli Embassy.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but did you guys see Kos' tweets last night about Santorum and the Constitution?

http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2012/03/07/remedial-constitutional-education-for-markos-moulitsas/

Here are the Tweets in question - sorry I can't figure out how to copy the full formatting now that Twitter changed things around:

Santorum scoffs at notion that gov't creates rights. In other words, he doesn't believe in the US Constitution

Then later he doubles down with:

Dear Cons, show me where in the Constitution is god mentioned. In fact, it states "We the people" as the source of the rights (Preamble)

Sigh.

How to win an election 101:

" CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — A former New Mexico mayor who called President Barack Obama "the carnal manifestation of evil" and said Obama's election was part of a CIA conspiracy has been elected to his former job, according to unofficial results.

The Clovis News Journal reports (http://bit.ly/yRR7Uy ) that former Clovis mayor David Lansford won his old job back Tuesday by defeating Mayor Gayla Brumfield with almost 63 percent of the votes.

Lansford, 53, recently gained national attention after the newspaper reported his ties to a fringe religious and political group, ATLAH Media Network in New York. After threatening to withdraw from the race, Lansford later changed his mind and stayed in the race but said he felt disclosing his activities was unfair and would prompt others to label him "a whack job."

Lansford participated in ATLAH's mock treason trial of Obama and wrote articles for its online publication, calling Obama an illegitimate president under the Constitution and "the carnal manifestation of evil," claiming Obama's election was part of a CIA conspiracy.

Lansford later told KOB-TV that he didn't believe Obama had the legal right to be president because he's "not a natural born citizen.""

OT, ot surprising under the circumstances--a ridiculous decision by a lower ct judge who ought to have recused himself in any event.
Bringing the kids in already,Obama? It'll be as successful as Carter's claim he based his nuclear policy on Amy's recommendations.

On a side note, I have an Iranian friend in town who is also a FB friend. Noticed he had not been posting any comments or articles on his page. So I sent him an email asking him what was up with that.

He wrote to me this AM saying:

" had to shut down my Facebook page for my own safety , because I'm going to Iran next week to visit my Dad , his cancer is advancing rapidly , I will turn it back on on April 1st , after I come back ."

I'm not sure why having a Facebook account would cause him danger while in his home country.

Oh shit, oh dear. The Breitbart video is coming out and it apparently shows that Obama is speaking on behalf of a radical professor at Harvard.

Apparently, the video released by Politico has been edited and Breitbart has the unedited video.

hmmm...perhaps a bit of selected editing? It's going to get interesting.

Jane

Glasater,

If they want you in Iran they will get you. I too have a close friend who came here for college and stayed and became a citizen. Most of her family still lives in Iran. Her cousin was arrested a few years ago after his ex girlfriend reported that he had alcohol in his apartment. None of his family knew what happened to him until a few months later the police arrived at his parents home and said they would let him go in exchange for the deed to the house.

Need to go set the dvr as I will be at festivities in honor of the homecoming of one of the many beneficiaries of janet's largesse.

Derrick Bell

Danube of Thought

If you want your insurance to cover an event that is 100% certain to occur, a fair premium for that coverage would ne slightly more than the cost of the event. In other words, Fluke should expect to pay slightly more than $1,000 per year for contraception coverage.

You can bet she doesn't think so. That soulless, bitter woman wants someone else to pay.

NK

DoT-- absolutely; PS: does anybody even know if the $1800/yr Georgetown policy covers nonhospitalization care like contraception? Did GU even invoke conscience? I doubt it. This ALL about somebody else paying for her failed attempts to fornicate.

PS: Derrick Bell was a smart dignified man. Unfortunately, he is one of the founders of the race hustle industry-- he openned the door for the Jacksons, Sharptons the ACORNs and 'Bams.

I don't think this is quite right. She wants her fellow insureds at G'town to pay for it. I have no doubt that ultimately she wants taxpayers or anyone but her to pay for it. And I have no doubt that she is so stupid that she believes if it's covered by insurance that it will therefore be "free." But that isn't what she was asking for at the hearing.

Clarice-- yes, Bell moved on to NYU law around 1990-1991, but his legacy is the hiring quota industry at HLS and elsewhere. He was a gracious mild manner man in person, but his legacy (i.e. Lani Guanier) is toxic as far as I'm concerned.
