I posted on the story of the 13 year old Kansas City boy set on fire by two black teens when it got some attention a few weeks ago. I believed that since the story didn't fit the "privileged whites / oppressed black" narrative sought by the Elite Media it would be buried.
However, I did include this:
JUST WHAT IS THE ALLEGATION? I question this headline in The Root:
Black Teens Allegedly Light White Teen on Fire
I understand that news outlets employ an abundance of caution when naming names, but no suspects have been identified. Is there serious doubt as to whether (a) the victim was white, or (b) his assailants were black, or (c) he was set on fire?
OK, maybe there is some doubt. Team Root will look like geniuses if this kid was really burned in a meth lab explosion in his basement.
Several weeks have gone by and the story has disappeared, not just from the national media but from the local Kansas City news outlets. The national media I can rationalize, but the local news?
Which leads me to focus on this puzzling paragraph in this story:
Kansas City, Missouri Police wouldn’t speak on camera about the incident on Tuesday. Though, did tell 41 Action News, that after several interviews with the boy, they don’t believe the incident needs to be investigated as a hate crime.
The boy’s family disagrees.
I don't think the cops are looking for a meth lab but I wonder whether they are looking for anyone at all. The cops won't go on camera, they don't think its a hate crime, the local outlets have dropped it - one logical explanation is that the kid's story doesn't hang together.
And a bonus baffler - the news video clearly shows the gasoline can allegedly used by the assailants still sitting next to the porch a day later. Unless the news crew is engaging in creative reenactment, what kind of police investigation is that? Surely even the Sanford PD would have wanted the gas container as evidence.
Well - maybe a thirteeen year old was playing with gas, lit himself up and lied to the cops and his parents. In that scenario, letting it slide may be best for everyone.
Perhaps somewhere in the blogosphere are people who actually know some Kansas City cops who can shed some light on this. As a proud member of the VRWC, we don't want to be Duke lacrosse/faculty dupes on this. And if I have to salute Team Root, well - I have found a place for crow in my low-carb diet before.
IF THIS DOG'S NOT BARKING MAYBE THAT DOG WON'T HUNT: Rush Limbaugh worked in Kansas City and presumably has some contacts there. Can some regular listeners tell us whether he has been pushing this story? I am coming up empty in his archives.
kim, there's a sprinkling of snow on the peak today, with more expected. It can never be compared to a view from the Tokaido.

JIm Ryan,
Have you tried Julian's Hard Cider or Ace's Pear Cider? Both are pretty good respite from beer and wine especially on a hot humid evening that you never get in Seattle, right. But they are much better than Woodchuck and closer to good draught British cider.

Back in 2003 or so there was a huge media uproar in Nashville, Tenn., over a bruning Quran found on the front steps of a small Muslim community center in the middle of a Muslim section of town (not a large section since then there were not that many Muslims in Nashville).
The chief of police went on camera and announced no stone will be left unturned, etc., to arrest the perpetrator of this hate crime and local clergy tripped over each other rushing to cameras to denounce it and you can imagine the rest.
And then the story completely disappeared, utterly and absolutely. No arrests, no investigation updates, nothing.
I can't find anything on Google about it.
I am convinced that the police very soon discovered it was all a setup by some Muslims themselves and dropped it, but would not say why.

I know we hate to act like them, but I think we are missing a pre-election angle here. Obama singlehandedly put a Hispanic in real jeopardy. AS far as I'm concerned this is a war on Hispanics in the name of Derrick Bell. And I think Obama and the media should be asked about that.
On the morning shows no one even considered the idea that Zimmerman might not be guilty, instead we are at a Martin Luther King moment as far as they are all concerned. Frankly the lot of them sounded like a lynch mob.

"Well - maybe a thirteeen year old was playing with gas, lit himself up and lied to the cops and his parents. In that scenario, letting it slide may be best for everyone."
I still have a scar on my stomach from the same kind of 'incident'. Me and my brothers were making Molotov cocktails. I got a water hose and sprayed one of my brothers with it and in revenge, he made up a cocktail and threw it at me. The cocktail was in a plastic sandwich baggie, so the bag melted and the burning gas hit me on the stomach and chest. I tried to blame it on someone throwing it over our fence, but the jig was up and the truth came out after the emergency room nurse smelled the gasoline all over my clothes and hands.
So it is possible that the kid was playing with gas and got burned.

Just got back from the Supreme Court event. Maybe 250+ people there. I always want more to be there. I took a taxi down there & told the driver he could let me off a couple blocks away if the crowds were a problem! Hah! I am so naively optimistic...
It was a nice event though. There is something powerful about kneeling in front of the SC & asking God for His help.
The taxi driver was from Morocco & said he would vote Republican because they were pro-life & pro-business! So that was good. Also some ad kids came by handing out free 5-hour energy drink, so I got some for my soldier packages!
Rode the Metro home & am totally beat. I remember why I am an exercise-aphobe.

Janet - Thanks for the updates on the SC protest today and hopefully what will pass on Tuesday. By listening to the MFM, you'd never know about Friday's Freedom of Religion rallies, but sure enough about the Hoodie get-togethers.
RickB - Pretty much everything your write, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. you write I take to the bank. But in the consideration of the scenario of suspension of elections, I think you are missing it. Obama thinks of himself above the law. He embraces the Law of Rule not/NOT the Rule of Law. He views the Constitution as fundamentally flawed and has succeeded mightily in the push for "fundamental transformation." His heros are Chavez, Castro, Zeleya, Putin and Amenanutjob. He is all about POWER and hates America for all that it is.
Retaining that POWER is, imho, all that matters. To suggest that he won't try any and every trick in the book to retain POWER is, niaive, I think. Besides the International Socialist Lewft/Communist brotherhood know that this is their moment, this is their time. If they lose POWER in America now, their best hope for the ultimate fulfillment of all of their aspiration and work since Wilson will come to a crashing end.
Imagine if you will, such a suspension of elections, as Orzag or Purdue have suggested. Sure a Constitutional Crisis ensues. Who responds? How does that happen? Does the military act as in Honduras? The (ahem) United Nations? Its a gamble on his part, but what does he have to lose? While everyone dithers on how to accept this direct challenge, he carries on with his minions doing their diabolical best to destroy the country. So far they are succeeding. Why would you think that they would voluntarily give way to a free election process that would see them sloe power?

Hmm, interesting point.
Chubby,
In 1972 I was as into politics as I am now, but on the other side. And of course there was so much less information available. Those of us who worked for McGovern were sure Nixon was involved in Watergate long before the election and I was completely paranoid that Nixon would declare martial law if he needed to.
Obviously I was wrong and it has always troubled me that I was so sure of something which was completely irrational.
Since Obama extended the martial law power last week that memory keeps coming up.

Sandy,
I rely upon the lack of an existing mechanism by which a President can authorize the use of military force within the US. AFAIK, the military oath is to defend the Constitution and obey lawful orders. I know that posse comitatus has been bent a few times and that Federal troops were used in NY during the Civil War, DC during the depression and in Little Rock to maintain order during desegregation but I'd love to hear the response of the Chiefs to an order to mobilize throughout the US. I sincerely doubt that it would be "Yes, sir.".

DoT,
As I understand it, his father's girlfriend lived inside the gates. He was visiting. Probably had a pass or transponder but most likely a pass to walk in and out. Most likely knew the code if entrance not guarded. There are a lot of gated communities in Florida that gave up guards to save on HOA costs and use transponders and gate code boxes. This one evidently did not have security since they had a neighborhood watch.
BTW, a lot of these gated communities in Florida have a lot of investment condo's and townhouses. They are absent the landlords and are rented. As a result, some are experiencing a lot of drug realted crime. Absent landlords with an undervalued property rent and don't care who they rent to. We have a number of these here where I live.

Rick - DoT, others, I am not exactly sure of the exact scenario, they are all hypotheticals, of course. My question about the military was not that they would mobilize to support Voldemort's diktat that the elections were cancelled. Rather, could they / would they insert themselves to ensure that the elections were held or in another scenario, that the elections are held and then Voldemort says that "owing to the extreme civil strife, the result of the election is held in abeyance. . ." will the military allow this?
Oh, DoT, Articles of Impeachment in 2013 against a President who refuses to go? Is that the process? Still hanging on to the idea that Voldemort will follow the Rule of Law. That is the rub, in my opinion, he will not, and has not, followed the Rule of Law, but rather the Law of Rule. The closer he gets to losing POWER, the greater his lack of incentive to maintain any sort of façade of propriety. In for a penny, in for a pound.
Whatever.
The current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:
just don't think he'll go quietly into the night. And, should he provoke a constitutional crisis the likes of which we've never seen, does that not also promote is broader agenda to rip asunder the very fabric of America?

DoT - The report I read said Trayvon was visiting his father who was " with his fiancee" who lived in the gated community. It's uncertain from the news where Trayvon's father lived. I still wonder why no one was concerned when the teen did not come back from the store.
It's hard to stay with this, despite tragic outcomes on all sides, since it would have stayed a local story without the race hustling.

Boy doesn't McAdoo look like his Dad.
Especially how he arches his back on the jump shots

Has anyone come up with a good explanation for how a race war helps Obama? It doesn't seem to me that scaring the white folk will net him any votes, but I'm obviously not seeing the big picture as well as the MSM and other Dems are.
Even if there's no race war, everyday black and white people in shopping malls and at work are now looking at each other with suspicion that didn't exist a week ago. How does this help our post-racial asshole*?
*I don't normally use such language here, but I was congratulated by so many people for this the other day that I should probably make an exception for juxtaposing the words "Obama" and "asshole" from now on.

Sara,
The Edublogger is using an external keyboard. A lot of iPad users do not have bluetooth external keyboards. Big difference. I use an iPad from time to time and to cut and paste and use HTML is not worth my time to link. I think that is what we mean by not able to link.
Of course, if you can I guess that means everyone should be able to:)

"either learn HTML or download the Blogpress app for $3.99 like everyone else with an iPad."
I will do neither. You must learn to live with it. And when I say "can't link," you should interpret it to mean "I can't link because I'm posting from my iPad."

Jane: I have faith in you that if you want to do it, you will. If not, not a big deal either. :)

Jane and sandy I understand that proclamation doesn't mean quite what you think it does and is an extension of a similar one signed by Bush. Someone--I forget who--maybe LI--explained it.
As I said on the other thread--besides Zimmerman's black friend standing up for him; the reports today are that he was crying when the police showed up and couldn't stop; and that he is hiding in fear for his life.
Frau, it turns out the initial reports of him lying 3 days in the morgue with no one knowing his identity were false. His id was known instantly and his father identified him soon after the shooting.
One lingering question--Zimmerman 911'd that he'd lost sight of him for about 5 minutes--the father's house was 100 yds away. If he was fearful of being followed, why didn't he just go home?
Mysteries inside of mysteries to everyone but the Demmedia who is participating in a lynching..

I thought Who Do McAdoo was his uncle.

Sara, Santorum's comments are outrageous. He's gone round the bend.

you should interpret it to mean "I can't link because I'm posting from my iPad."
DOT: Everyone knows you mean your iPad and that you use it as an excuse. You've whined about it often enough.
