Porch, they don't want their children killed by our "Allies" in Afghanistan!!!

AliceH

ROFLs, Matt @ 5:25. That was nicely executed.

centralcal

Poor, poor Soledad, she just continues to get hammered, per NRO:

Stephan Thernstrom, a professor of social history at Harvard, explains to National Review Online that he sees Pollak’s explanation as “a little crude but essentially right. O’Brien is simply blowing smoke.”
NotSara

CC, Don't worry--O'Brien will survive and live to see another day and another program--continuing her "good work" for Obama!

Cecil Turner

Hey, cool, a Beldar sighting! And he agrees with me, so there. (thbbthbb) ;)

Well, according to Charles Johnson, he taught it to his students at the University of Chicago Law School.

Y'know, that's a bit more interesting. If the drip keeps up, it might be worth highlighting. It's much more convincing when he actually teaches the stuff.

Captain Hate

Not that we'll keep 'em honest, but maybe we can keep them less dishonest. MAYBE!

It probably doesn't matter. The 2010 elections were an illustration that voters were tuning them out on the local level. If they had any sense of self preservation they'd modify their behavior accordingly.

centralcal

...O'Brien will survive and live to see another day and another program...

Well, as long as her employer continues to. And they are quite sickly in the ratings. For example, prime time last night (000's):

7PM
FNC 1,544
CNN 398

8PM
FNC 3,025
CNN 611

9PM
FNC 2,199
CNN 776

10PM
FNC 1,553
CNN 502

NotSara

Well, cc, MSNBC is even lower in ratings than CNN, and they are not going anywhere! They will both continue and will continue to be what they are. Even if exposed, they have no shame and will continue with their liberal bias. It is what it is. IMO, nothing will shame them. They will just "dig in their heels" and continue on for Obama.

Frau die Errinerung

Yes, TM!-
This first Breitbart video is a direct hit on *the media* and imho should be used as such. The media is hugely responsible for what has happened since 2006 (Dem congress); the economy, gas prices, ObamaCare are due to the criminal lack of truth in reporting. All the missing information about candidate Obama is due to the media. Their feet should be held to the fire as well as Obama's. He wasn't vetted then. Vet him now, over and over.

The Republican Garden Gnome will be vetted down to the thickness of the paint used and which factory-unionized? impurities?--produced him.

I'm for full-fluking from all sides.
"It's just a fluke to the left.
And then a fluke to the right.
Let's do the Full Fluke, again."

narciso

Well I've made it plain, through the link to the Cantor piece, that's what he lectured at with the pic, showing power relationships,

centralcal

Actually, NotSarah, MSNBC's ratings are better than CNN and have been for awhile. All the looney lefty batshit crazy liberals have gravitated to it, leaving just the garden variety looney liberals to watch CNN.

NotSara

They will still survive, cc. There are just enough people to continue watching (lots of my liberal friends do), and whoever funds them will continue to do so. What to do, what to do?

Appalled

Based on what has been witten in this thread, this Paul Waldman at the American Prospect is intriguing:

This is a version of the larger problem conservatives have as we get into the 2012 election. The argument many of them will be making, in various forms, is this: Forget about what Obama has actually done. That doesn't tell you anything. Let me tell you a story about his secret desires, his wicked thoughts, his venomous heart. That's what your decision should be based on.

So here, we're arguing that there's all this stuff on Obama -- let's talk about that, and shove this link to the lefty into the background. While over on the left, the argument is, they ain't got nothing, so they'll just talk about this little bit of nothing like it's important.

I don't know I draw any conclusions from this. It's just interesting.

NotSara

Oh, really, Appalled. That's just silly. We, being conservatives, would never delve into his wicked thoughts, etc., etc. We deal in facts but try not to hurt anyone's feelings when we do. IE Romney's saying he would never say outrageous things about Obama!

apetra

It it were a Republican, and a "theory" that was itself white supremist, even if there were a loose association, speaking at a dinner, etc., there would be a demand that he repudiate the views.

NotSara

And, also, OT--Would someone please tell Romney to stop wearing blue jeans????

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

It's not the democrats, it's not Alinsky, it's not Obama, it's the media.

narciso

Yes, Paul Waldman is really after our interests, the Prospect is where half the Journolist hung their hat, before moving onto
the Washington Compost, Klein, Myerson, Franke Ruta, et al.

btomdarga

Why don't you cunts and twats and other hick Sarah Palin cumslut wannabes just admit that you hate black people?

Hate hate hate is all you conservatives cunts believe in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fdcol63

The things said about Obama are, indeed, outrageous.

But they are the truth, and it is Obama's ideology, beliefs, associations, and policies that are outrageous.

NotSara

Who on earth is this person?? Alien or what? I didn't know people who spoke like that existed!

centralcal

Jane it is a combination of all those you named. The media is a double edged sword - for now they are Obama's army, surrounding and protecting.

One day, when he is out of office, and a Republican is President, then they will become advancing warriors, whipping their followers into frenzies (as they did all during the Bush years).

So - with or without Obama - the media as it is currently formed are our enemies and we must never forget it or cut them any slack.

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Are you black btomdarga? It certainly is easy to see how people must hate you.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

Ooooooooh. Bad wirds. And soooooo scawwy and mean. I guess we better not comment here any more.

Appalled

Waldmon (a flaming lefty, of course) sez the Conswervatives have nothing, so they will talk about this 1991 tape like it's important.

Meanwhile, the debate here is that the GOP and the right have a ton of issues, so why spend a lot of time with this easily explained link to an obnoxious lefty that is over 20 years old.

The arguments are mirror images of each other.

Let the willful misconstruction of what I posted above cease. Thank you.

centralcal

Who on earth is this person?

I don't know. Why don't we all make a guess. I'll go first. My guess is:

Matt Yglesias

Captain Hate

Behold the left and the civility with which they express themselves. An army of Jared Laughners.

Captain Hate

Why don't we all make a guess.

Ezra Klein

btomdarga

I shoulda known you're just a skeezy racist white bitch, Jane.

On my worst days I can find better things to fuck than an uptight Republicunt like you.

Captain Hate

Hmmmm, all that fear hatred of women; I'm changing my guess to David Brock.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

Or Randy Andy. More likely, though it's some non-entity cowering in a basement near you.

Extraneus
Appalled, if you think Obama's views on CRT do not inform his views on other things you have not been listening to him carefully or watching what he and his DoJ are doing.

It would be very interesting to tie all of Holder's decisions starting with the black panthers to CRT. It would certainly implicate Obama who we know is undoubtedly calling the shots. And then people would understand that this is the approach of the entire administration and where they are trying to take America.

That should resonate.

I agree, and I'm betting that that's the Breitbart angle. All they have to do is start quoting Obama's DoJ appointees and Holder's racist hires. If the majority of these people are CRT "scholars" and devotees, which they probably are, the whole thing can be tied together with the Black Panther, voter ID and other putrid racist stuff, as we all know it does.

A lot of people - a large majority - oppose AA, for example, but even they have some sympathy for minorities who may have suffered some form of discrimination. If these same people find out that Obama believes that there's no way to ever rectify this, short of restitution - because our Constitution and laws are deemed fundamentally racist by Obama and the race hustler industry - some otherwise sympathetic people will throw their hands up, if not recoil in horror.

"My own kid stood aside while less qualified minorities were admitted/promoted, and this is what he really thinks? That we still suck?"

Clarice

Didn't Holder say we were cowards about race? Isn't his Dept acting as if it were operating from a CRT playbook? Watch..

NotSara

Well, yes, Clarice. But, how do we get that across?

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

I'm black btomdarga. And I still won't date you.

bgates

This doesn't prove any points for Pollak. He is the only one who used the term "white supremacy".

Education Policy as an Act of White Supremacy: Whiteness, Critical Race Theory and Education Reform. Google says it's been cited 171 times.

J.Potho

My guess.
Evil Anne

Extraneus

Who on earth is this person??

I think it's one of our own posters, sockpuppeting - the same one that does it to Ben Franklin. Maybe Aspergers is the explanation.

TM might know from the IP address.

daddy

Clarice,

I haven't read the thread but I see you guys are posting over here so I thought I'd post this Ted Stevens Update:

Release of report on botched Ted Stevens case could be delayed:

"The report is scheduled to be released on March 15, but one of the prosecutors in the Stevens case, Edward Sullivan, has appealed the release of the report to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit."

"All of the prosecutors and at least one FBI agent involved in the botched prosecution have been allowed to hire private lawyers on the taxpayers' dime to defend themselves. USA Today reported in early February that these costs have totaled $1.8 million. That was before EDWARD SULLIVAN'S APPEAL, WHICH THE GOVERNMENT IS ALSO PAYING FOR." (My emphasis).

rse

the term I use is disproportionality because that is the view this DoEd and Justice and the accreditors and prof organizations have of what is actionable. And to be prevented no matter what. Must change business and ed practices until equal outcomes are reached despite hugely different life experiences that go to what the business thinks it wants in an employee for the particular purpose it is hiring. Or pertinent to what we all presume to be the purpose of education.

I've never seen disproportionality used but it fits everything I have seen. And I have long since dropped my presumptions on education.

It's not student body composition either. Comparable GPAs, majors, classroom performance. So far pretty much everything but a demand for the same spring break options.

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Daddy,

The delay is an indication of how bad it is. I can't wait to see it.

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Clarice,

I really hope that at some point you will devote a Pieces to connecting the dots.

A Not Particularly Concerned Observer

"TM might know from the IP address."

Sure, but what makes you think TM cares?

daddy

Jane,

From the Ted Stevens story: "

The judge who oversaw the trial, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan (no relation to Edward Sullivan), has so far refused to “stay,” or delay the release, but the appeals court could order him to do so."

Who controls the Appeals Court in DC, and do you guys think there's any chance that that might happen?

Clarice

It's very sophisticated, powerful (ranked just under the SCOTUS) and rather conservative.

Clarice

I start on Sunday, Jane.

narciso

Isn't it a wonder that people can be so readily convinced of events that never happened, Tom Hank's agitprop comes to mind, given a jaundiced yet still erroneous review
in the Weekend Journal, but actual evidence of what the President is about, it's like pulling the tooth of a sabertooth tiger,

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Yippeee Clarice!

glenda

Maybe Greta will report on this Stevens cover-up, daddy.

I think the troll is Dana Milbank or Olbermann...can you imagine the despair of the liberals? No heart or honor.

Kim, CC and Porchlight remind me of Clarice :)

Now, if only Romney had a clue..you cannot win stabbing your base. Having more $$ does not mean you have courage and leadership. It signals your "business as usual" governance.
But I would vote for a mannequin to replace Obama.

Extraneus

Looking forward to it, Clarice.

narciso

I think we will end up voting for one, anyways, glenda, the trolls, the op ed writers and the policy makers are indistinguishable, in practical terms,

At least it's not a cybot troll.

How fun for you DoT and TK. So glad you didn't come to blows over a certain legal topic - lol.

Porchlight

Glad to hear it was fun (and civil, heh). Love hearing from both parties about these little meetups.

if post-modernists are right. . .

Stop right there. They are not. They have never been. Not even in the 1950s with "Waiting for Godot."

The idea that you can't prove anything true doesn't matter since what really matters is that you can prune away those things that are demonstrably NOT true.

Ignatz

--The idea that you can't prove anything true--

Whenever I encounter that sentiment my test, which I have yet to be taken up on, is would you mind if my hammer introduced itself to your thumb.

Clarice

Well, I hope you like it, Jane.

Frau die Errinerung

Post-modernists = Bent Willie and Sid Vicious. In other words, Bandini stands for fertilizer.

narciso

Isn't the 800 pd gorilla in that report, that Judge Sullivan, allowed all this prejudicial evidence, and like Judge Walton, in the Libby case, would not allow exculpatory evidence,

Frau Steingehirn

I always look forward to your posts, rse, as you have been in the belly of the beast. It took a long time for current conditions to come together, but they have. Both Hillary! and Bill Ayers said the system had to be changed from *within* and that's where we are today. Now we have Obama and the DoJ following in Derrick Bell's footsteps. If we believe Bell, it wouldn't matter if blacks were the majority, there would still be racism (against whites),and
nothing would really change. In the meantime, reparations are to be made to blacks--for what purpose?--and separate areas set up for whites and blacks. MLK Jr the misguided.

In a perfect world, Obama would defend his support of CRT. The media would have demanded it. hah!

Danube of Thought

I think this troll is no one we've seen before, and someone we won't see again when the smoke clears.

I am with Beldar on the impact of this Bell stuff (and happy to hear from Beldar again). I'd be very surprised if the forthcoming, presumably more halrd-hitting stuff, adds materially to it.

The time to expose this guy's past views was 2008, and few with an adequate megaphone were inclined to do it. All of it has now been overtaken by events: he will be re-elected, or not, on the basis of his first term.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

Tried to get him to go to law school.

He certainly has the requisite tenacity.

Rick Ballard

Frau,

It would be interesting to see the administration decision to arm Latino drug cartels reported through the lens of CRT. A black President and AG choosing to kill Latinos, etc. I can't do it justice but there are several others here who can.

narciso

No, I don't think that is quite right, Rick, considering that Mexico and Honduras were the main targets, and they have center right regimes for the moment, it's more an instance
of 'hastle the bitter clingers' international
addition,

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Hannity is doing a segment on Bell. Thomas Sowell is commenting on him now. He just compared him to Hitler.

Clarice

Sowell said that at the time Obama was supporting Bell's action at HLS.

Jane (get off the couch - come save the country)

Sowell: Bell was in an impossible position. He was hired at Harvard law school when he was unqualified to be a full professor, and to survive he had to develop this Schtick.

Obama is in a revenge society and Holder as well. They no longer want to abolish racism, they just want to put it under new management.

Racism is a permanent part of the people who have a huge vested interest in it, because where would they be without racism.

Clarice

Not exactly, narciso. As I recall J Sullivan never knew of the existence of the exculpatory evidence because it was in the prosecution's possession and they failed to turn it over to the defense as the law requires.

narciso

All right, I stand corrected, I guess the whole Kafkaesque process has jaundiced me toward the whole case, this was in the final analysis, about one the 60th or 59th Democrat Senate Seat, and secondarily, about having Chicago get Alaska's swag,

Rick Ballard

Narciso,

Derrida disagrees.

Clarice

Can you imagine, Jane, what will happen when the SCOTUS finally blows off AA in college admissions as I believe they soon will?

Clarice

Right on schedule--Breitbart ties holder's Nation of Cowards and dropping of the black panther case to CRT and Bell>http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/03/09/critical-race-theory-and-a-nation-of-coward

Danube of Thought

We can at least be assured that her confrontation with Pollak was the most humiliating night of O'Brien's life. And she knows it.

MarkO

Right you are, Jane. It's all about power, not equality.

Captain Hate

Wonderful lunch with Threadkiller. (Tried to get him to go to law school.) A most interesting and engaging guy.

In answer to your question, Jane, Bell's interlocutor, Geneva Crenshaw anticipated
that eventuality, and it's not pretty from
my recollection.

Dianne

Jane-

It's already in the works through the "Accreditation" channel. It's been a long time parallel move to concretize it before it's declared discriminatory.

Clarice

Cpt, TK and DoT have been seeing a lot of each other but haven't gone beyond first bases until now.

Threadkiller

First time, CH.
I reiterate my pleasure in meeting DoT(I think my post earlier may have been missed on this fast moving thread). An enjoyable lunch with an impressive person. It will be repeated.

First word to come out of the mouth of the waitress:

"Martini?"

Melinda Romanoff

I think Dianne might be speaking something sensible for a change.

Threadkiller

If it wasn't me you were talking about, Clarice, I might be inspired to make a limerick. :-)

Melinda Romanoff

Jane-

You have mail at "Fun with...".

Walter Sobchak

“Okay, so he’s a Harvard Law student and a Harvard Law Professor, yeah.” O’Brien added.

Her unstated subtext was that if it is from Harvard, it must be mainstream white-bread America.

This is a bizarre idea. Harvard is a stinking nest of Marxists.

It has been several years of Sundays since anyone at Harvard espoused anything other than Marxism and hatred of America. If it were up to me, I would take their endowment for the treasury, and auction the buildings to condo developers.

jimmyk

A bit harsh, Walter--it is the dominant culture, but there are some conservatives. Harvey Mansfield has been there forever, Robert Barro, for example. Nozick was a libertarian for a while though he later went a bit soft. Mankiw and Feldstein are right of center, though Keynesian to a fault.

not_bubarooni

I was trying to catch up on 'stuff' last night after being on the road all day.

I flat out missed the Big Ten basketball games I had wanted to catch, but thought I'd console myself by catching up on Insty too.

With this whole CRT thing being in the news I thought I'd take the opportunity to peruse a link there on CRT.

It was an interesting read.

Don't ask me why, but every Saturday and Sunday morning I watch MSNBC's Up with Chris Hayes.

After reading that paper last night and watching MSNBC this morning I have come to an important realization.

CRT is not just a legal theory, it is a world view that infects every facet of lib/prog thought.

These people have got to be stopped or the Republic will be destroyed.
