**maKe sure* (no coffee yet.)

Janet

This "Gus" character

I'm so glad that Gus has joined the conversation at JOM.

Jack is Back!

Jane,

Why? Why would you wake up at 5:30am to watch Mathews? At that time of the morning Little Einsteins are on and you'll learn more about the world (plus a master's class in classical music) than from that flaming nincompoop, Mathews.

Captain Hate

I enjoyed Gus's comments when he posted them @ AoS; and his experience in dealing with the petulant ace is why I never engage that imbecile when he's on one of his unbalanced Cahrlse Jhonnso-esque tirades.

Rick Ballard

"The pauses, blinking as if deeply searching for the right word, the head lowering/almost-not-quite biting the lower lip."

AliceH,

There is another explanation for that. Watch the clip through to the end and you will see our Sack of Hammers prove that the pauses and stumbles only reflect the aimless firing of axons without accompanying dendrites.

I agree with TM - we're watching a very stupid man who is now writing his own scripts. The folks whom he fired for talking to him like a dog had made a reasonable assessment and acted upon it.

OldTimer

Hey, I like that Gus character, too.

You've got to accentuate the positive / Eliminate the negative / And latch on to the affirmative / Don't mess with (LIBTARDS) In-Between

Jack is Back!

I wonder where Obama, Jackson, Sharpton, Shabazz, and the liberal media were when a Florida A&M band member was beaten to death by his fellow band members on a team bus?

Because it was a "hazing" incident and black on black. No racism there only drum major bias.

daddy

Jane,

When you ever do bump in to Chris Matthews in the flesh would you please poke him in the nose for the rest of us.

peter-Sowell's vision of the Anointed is what you want. He touches directly on profs and dewey's flawed visions.

Your niece has been deliberately taught things that are not true so that what she implements in the classroom will have actual effects she is not aware of. Even if she thinks she is wholly on board with being a social change agent, the train is not going where she has been led to believe.

Threadkiller

--" Paul Ryan is slicing Plouffe with a hammer on FNS."--

I wish CH was writing for the tv guide. My choices of what to watch would be far simpler.

Jane

David Plouffe is on FNS not doing a very good job of convincing anybody that the administration knows wtf it's doing.

Next he told the same lies on ABC and Stephadope let him lie unchallenged.

Why? Why would you wake up at 5:30am to watch Mathews?

I actually woke up at 4:30 and read Pieces and had not yet gone back to sleep.

Clarice

My goodness, Jane. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Jane

I wanted to be first Clarice.

Now I didn't wake up because I wanted to, ya know. I just woke up.

hit and run

You can't unteach a dog his old shtick.

hit and run

She's sleeping. And I'm slaving away on a bunch of work.

Gotta watch out for those green borders if she sneaks on me in the office.

Ignatz

--Gotta watch out for those green borders if she sneaks on me in the office.--

Easy solution. If there's a nice caboose on the screen she won't even notice the green borders.

Porchlight

Count me in as a Gus fan.

peter, it's good to see you. Clarice and others beat me to it, but I too would recommend Sowell. The Thomas Sowell Reader is newish and is a perfect introduction.

David Mamet's book The Secret Knowledge is also a possibility:

Peter, if you are interested in listening to books on CD, I recommend "Thinking about Capitalism" from the teaching company. They put such things on sale at least once a year for about $70. Snap it up when it happens.

As the professor points out in the intro, we think we learn about capitalism in economics but don't and other subjects overlook capitalism because they think it is covered in Economics.

I would also recommend, after Sowell, P. J. O'Rourke's "On the wealth of Nations," a very readable 150 page summary of 900 pages of Adam Smith.

Finally, Richard Mitchell's "Less than Words can Say" warns of the danger of the incoming fog.

Clarice

Latest stories today--shooter could not stop crying when police arrived; black friend defends him; he's in hiding in fear of his life. When will the Sunday morning sharpies catch up with the news.?

Clarice

Ah, yes. What could be better to lure in the young than that naughty P.J. O'Rourke?
For International matters his "All the Trouble in the World" is also fabulous.

It appears we only get hand fed the bits of the story that the media see's fit. Some interesting omissions as well as the entire 911 call below. As far as all the claims that Trayvon was chased down and then confronted, the full unedited 911 call is located at the link below along with several other facts about Trayvon that the media isn't reporting on. I agree that this is a tragedy, this young man did not have to die, but the story we are getting is NOT the entire picture and several of the people here are making comments based on emotion with half the facts.

I heard this A.M. that someone "leaked" the comprehensive police report on the shooting to the media. Sounds as if perhaps one of the officers or staff of the Sanford P.D. became tired of the media's biased and racially divisive reporting of this event.
It should be interesting to see how far this additional information is disseminated, and whether it begins to change the public's perception of the reporting.
