Buford Gooch

Everyone is still commenting over on the Martin/Zimmerman thread. Heh!

Jack is Back!

I didn't choke because I was celebrating Human Achievement.

The Himmelich Manuver is one of those achievements.

Captain Hate

Thank you TM.

Not that I don't have sympathy with an ABR candidate but is this the last we'll ever hear from Santorum? I wouldn't characterize what he's done as "fighting the good fight".

narciso

I don't figure this will be really be the case;

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/clinton-wont-campaign-obama_634965.html

narciso

He does an undue taste for shoe leather, but then Huck's people are running him,

Captain Hate

So we won't hear any fake accents from the Glacier in Pantsuits between now and November? Oh the humanity....

Captain Hate

Huck's people are running him,

Two candidates that creeped me out; I'm detecting a trend.

Thomas Collins

I'm making the bold prediction that UK will prevail in tonight's men's NCAA Div. 1 college basketball final over UK. It's a lock. See LUN.

Janet

A Captain Hate thread!!?! Let the erudite trash talk begin!

narciso

A little too close for confort,

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/boston-globe-poll-brown-37-warren-35_634958.html

Captain Hate

Janet, I haven't been this happy since Saturday when I played very effortlessly well at hoops for the second week in a row. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, TC; if they win, I win my bracket pool.

Melinda Romanoff

CH-

1961 concert repost, and the source of that Mazda ad's use of Bo Diddly's "Road Runner".

Melinda Romanoff

TC-
Tim Cahill indicted, stemming from Gubernatorial run.

Danube of Thought

CH is more cantankerous than I am. Nyah-nyah-na-nyah-na.

Thomas Collins

I'm at the bottom of my pool CH, so I'll root for Bill Self's charges and hope you win your pool (I have no idea whether Self runs a cleaner program than John Calipari, but I have to admire a guy who is so straigtforward at halftime about what a lousy first half the Jayhawks had against OSU).

Meanwhile, since TM is apparently too distracted to post his annual early April thread on the Bronx Bombers, I'll fill the gap with a riveting LUN with Yanks injury/roster spot talk.

Captain Hate

Mel, I still think the Nike "Bo Knows" commercials with Bo Diddley were the best they've ever done. And made me stop hating them for a brief period of time.

Thomas Collins

Thanks for the tip, Mel. I'm going to check this out at the Herald web site.

Melinda Romanoff

Ryan Leaf charged in weekend burglary, after release for an earlier arrest in Montana.

I think the concussions and some brain chemistry issues might be part of this. That boy's got issues.

Melinda Romanoff

Ah. forgot about that one, CH. A very good ad.

jimmyk

Congratulations to CH--I can't think of any other JOMer who's been honored with a thread naming.

And happy birthday to Mrs. Iggy.

Ignatz

Wow. If a little griping from CH gets him his own open thread I shudder to think what a pushover TM must be in his own household when the girls gang up on him.

Captain Hate

I have no idea whether Self runs a cleaner program than John Calipari, but I have to admire a guy who is so straigtforward at halftime about what a lousy first half the Jayhawks had against OSU

First, oh God yes although at KY Cal can run a relatively clean program and still attract the blue chippers in large quantities. Second, I read something posted Saturday from a KU alum who claimed that Self's teams have followed a trend this season where they stay out of foul trouble in the first half by playing puss defense and then unleash the beast in the second half. It's worked pretty well so far.

Thomas Collins

See LUN for a short article on the Cahill indictment.

jimmyk

I should qualify--any living JOMer--as the sorely missed PUK may have gotten a thread in his honor, and maybe 'bad' as well.

Iggy, haven't we already seen that about the Connecticut ladies? I'm forgetting what the issue was.

Melinda Romanoff

Hahahahahaha!

Captain Hate

Rich or poor, she's still a POS: http://minx.cc/?post=328053

matt

How bout that Trayvon Martin affair?

Threadkiller

Ok, I can do this...

Stay focused. Easy. Don't bring it up.

This is CH' thread so control yourself. Talk like a normal person.

I give up.

I got nothing.

GMAX

Only six of 24 posts by CH? On your own thread, dude. Pick the pace. This is going to face to grey soon enough, enjoy your 15 minutes!

Thomas Collins

CH, something tells me that the lady is going to be hearing from an attorney for the other poolers, and that some sort of settlement will be reached. That's if the other poolers have a sense of restraint and working things out without resort to self-help. If not, . . . .

Danube of Thought

Leaf is now in Schlichter Land. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Captain Hate

DoT, I was listening to Jim Rome talking about that just after 1 here, and admitting that he got taken in by him saying he'd cleaned up (not that Rome isn't a sycophantic boot-licker to anybody since Jim "Don't call me Chris" Everett, who appears on his show).

Thomas Collins

Apparently the focus of the Cahill indictment is Cahill illegally coordinating ads designed to boost Cahill's image as the Lottery's overseer during his gubernatorial campaign (Cahill was the Mass. Trasurer, and the Mass. Treasurer oversees the Mass. Lottery).

Chubby

Cap wants a music discussion:

What do you think of the band Beer 'N Skittles?

What are your thoughts on Ice T?

Ignatz

--Rich or poor, she's still a POS: http://minx.cc/?post=328053--

Didn't catch the name. Was it Auntie Zetuini?

Dave (in MA)

Over an hour into a Captain Hate thread and no discussion of free jazz?

TC, I just read on the Herald site that TC was indicted. Marsha has a presser at 2:30.

Captain Hate

What do you think of the band Beer 'N Skittles?

Never heard of 'em.

What are your thoughts on Ice T?

I've probably heard his music and didn't know it. He was ok as an actor in L&O-SVU before the show went completely off the rails.

Captain Hate

Dave I'm ready to discuss anything on the FMP label.

Mel, are you an Ornette fan? I heard "Lonely Woman" on the radio while driving around last week and couldn't believe how fresh it sounds after well over half a century.

Chubby

((Never heard of 'em.))

me neither

my post supposed to be a joke, pretty lame eh? :)

Captain Hate

Actually it sounds like a decent band name given the ones out there, Chubby.

I just heard this on Tammy Bruce: http://www.redstate.com/moe_lane/2012/04/02/debbie-wasserman-schultz-gets-eviscerated-by-doug-mcintyre-of-790-kabc/

Much greatness included.

pagar

TK, Since you're not working on any thing at the moment, can we go back to that deal you spoke of, 2 or 3 days ago where a bank said they would not approve a short sale or something because of what the buyer planned to do with the property? That just sounded like BS to me.

Some one this morning mentioned that some govt figures didn't seem to work out the same under Bush vs the Obama regime.

Aaaahhh! I can breathe again!

Chubby

((Actually it sounds like a decent band name given the ones out there, Chubby.))

oh, it is a real band, from Sydney, Oz. But I had just googled "skittles" and "band" to find if there was one, wanted to get your goat with the ubiquitous skittles and ice tea angle. :)

Dave (in MA)

Captain, I miss McIntyre's syndicated show. They merged Red Eye Radio with some other clown's show, and aside from the fact that they now only offer about 34 minutes of programming per hour, they also fill it up with useless crap like "The Owner Operator Report".

Captain Hate

I was unaware of him until Tammy Bruce played that clip which sent me on a search. Obviously Debbie What'saman-Schultz was ill prepared to answer his questions.

Dave (in MA)

He's good, but not usually a tough interview like that. Wasser-Schmutz really stepped on her crank with that one.

MarkO

Capt'n, Maryland is NOT Duke's rival. Hey, I think UK might win by 25. You?

Threadkiller

Pagar, it is called a short sale arms length affidavit. I am out and about at the moment, so I can't look it up right now.

It essentially says the purchaser is not allowed to rent back to the family that lost the house.

But this just in:

Lawyers?

Captain Hate

Mark, I think Self is, along with K, at the elite level of kollidge coaches. Cal might have more firepower at his disposal to negate that but they seem to go through strange lapses during games. Don't get me wrong, Cal is a very good coach as well; but Self has smoked him at this level before and I'm counting on it happening again.

Jane (Where is Jon Corzine?)

TC,

The Cahill indictment is a joke. But that's what he gets for being a strawman so Deval could re-elected.

Marsha Marsha is really a joke.

Ignatz

--What do you think of the band Beer 'N Skittles?--

I was kind of partial to the Beat Farmers til the dude drank and coked himself into a heart attack at 40.
It's unknown if Skittles played a role.

Melinda Romanoff

CH-

Ornette is OK by me, but I don't go out of my way to find him.

Mr. Blotto, on the other hand, can generate some odd interest.

matt

DoT;

I would compare leaf to Todd Marinovich. Same blow up as a player. A very short career defined by off the field issues. Not much chance to get hammered with consussions, especially as a QB.

Marinovich liked dope until it took over his body and soul.Oxycontin is the most abused prescription drug now. It will probably show up with Leaf.

Marinovich went on to heroin and last I heard was found in a public bathroom on the beach, strung out. I think he's in prison now. he had more chances than he probably deserved being a local hero.

Captain Hate

Ok Mel; the reason I asked was that I listened to the recording with the Blue and Yellow cover just called "Ornette" the other day (with Blackwell and Scott LaFaro) and was impressed with how well it stood up. I know that he can be a polarizing figure with his weird trumpet and violin playing and that Miles and Mingus held him in low regard; and any interview with him invariably turns into a complete waste of time. But for me when he plays the sax magic happens; obviously less so for you.

Captain Hate

Yes matt, they were both titanic busts although Marijuanovich joined a stellar group of high exposure QB drafting miscues of Al Davis, most recently JaBarfus Russell. Iirc, didn't odd Todd have a few games in which he showed some promise before his substance problems rode him completely off the rails; whereas cryin' Ryan was terrible from start to finish? Or am I misremembering things?

Captain Hate

Btw I'm doing my best to keep this thread going but obviously I'm in a distinct minority of not wanting Saint Trayvon natterings 24/7. It isn't the first time I've pissed in the wind and I'm sure it won't be the last.

I defer to the majority but I'm not happy about it.

Charlie (Colorado)

Okay, gold star for the lede.

Clarice

How fast fame goes to CH's head. XOXO

pagar

TK, I got it, thanks.

Ignatz

--I'm in a distinct minority of not wanting Saint Trayvon natterings 24/7.--

I'm proud to serve in your distinct minority, CH. :)
With some hard work our ranks may swell to four or five, shortly.

Jane

I'll help Capn'. So does anyone here still support Santorum? Romney appears to be nosediving. We really need to start rallying around him.

Captain Hate

I sure don't support Santorum, Jane. I'm ready to support Willard; the level of which is up to him.

Strawman Cometh

When I was considering harvesting a Carolina goose (they haven't been back to Canada in 10 generations), CH did recommend that the flaky flesh was worth the effort. While I haven't choked my goose yet, I did last week harvest 5 eggs from a nesting site I had been monitoring. One goose egg = four chicken eggs in volume. They are magnificent and delicious. (and by no means endangered)

Gus

Crikey!! The proper name for that band was Blood and Skittles.
Their big hit was NBC. Not to be confused with the Jackson Cinco's ABC.

Went like this. NBC, going to get sued by me........etc.

Strawman Cometh

The captcha is heavy in this thread.

Captain Hate

Yes SC, the dark but very dry meat is very rewarding, especially when you aren't worried about biting down on shot.

Shocking that one of the children of the cornhole would take such a critical view of the TP: http://www.tnr.com/article/politics/102241/what-william-buckley-american-conservatism

Strawman Cometh

He does an undue taste for shoe leather

I came back to that, 1st take seemed you were promoting him as a detective.

Captain Hate

And here's what one of Marty's former pests has to say about Willard's chances lending support to what Jane was saying: http://www.tnr.com/article/the-permanent-campaign/102231/mitt-romney-approval-rating-decline?utm_source=The+New+Republic&utm_campaign=daae6db67e-TNR_Pol_040212&utm_medium=email

Janet

Here's our POTUS making a video for Planned Parenthood. That is always lovely. Cheering on the PP Action Fund which blackmailed SGKomen & helped kill 329,445 babies in 2010. Women & minorities hardest hit.

Strawman Cometh

So Mel, I guess you heard "that" Carter joke.

Jane

Apparently the nose dive is a result of the Fluking.

We are going to get a diversion every single week and we certainly are not ready for them. Romney needs to get a heck of a lot more aggressive.

Gus

Obama and Rodham used to say keep abortion, safe, legal and rare.

If it's not wrong, why should it be RARE?

Janet

Here is the POTUS talking about judicial activism. Lotta chutzpah that he would bring up an unelected group of people overturning a passed law....prop 8, endless environmental stuff, voter ID,...

narciso

I missed Brewster by a year. We had Hannah Gray for 1 year then Bart Giamotti.

Captain Hate

Yes narc, I was wondering if he was Cahrlse Soonjhn's similarly named butt-boy.

Romney needs to get a heck of a lot more aggressive.

Yes please remove the flame-retardant from the hair!

Janet

I'm just throwing stuff out here...that isn't about Trayvon...
From Powerline - Desperate Green Losers Try to Regroup

There are so many fronts in this battle. I really think we need to focus on cutting off their supply lines...like Sherman. All the leftist flotsam get money from government...local, state, & fed....that's what is so aggravating. We are paying for this crap.
We have GOT to separate them from government funding.

henry

Janet, when Walker wins his recall, spines will stiffen elsewhere. The unions don't really care about collective bargaining-- end the mandatory dues and insurance self dealing cutting $ millions from their stash and they go bananas. WI voters will show them to be paper tigers.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

“… that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law”

The President told the Supreme Court that it would be frustrating Congressional will if it ruled against his Health Care plan. The President, who was once a law professor, advanced not a single legal argument to bolster his exhortation, saying instead that they would be a bunch of “unelected group of people” who will have turned to “judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint” if they went ahead and struck down

Gag!

Janet

Hope so, henry. Thousands of race bating groups, abortion groups, green groups, nutty education groups,...think of all the money that goes to these operations. More than half would close down if they just had to pay their own way.

Captain Hate

Surely there have to be members of the 52% who bought into the jugeared fellow being this brilliant Constitutional law scholar that look at what Sara quoted and think WTF.

henry

On the plus side, both Mitt and Rick are talking about defunding those groups as they run around WI. They have no choice, as the recall overshadows the primary they must appear to be as strong as Walker. I hope some of it sinks in and whoever wins takes appropriate action.

Clarice

The Obama campaign website has turned off the donor verification thingy--AGAIN

Los Lonely Boys is a Texas band, comprised of three brothers, that released a single called Heaven that led the charts for a while.

My buddy picked up the CD at a swap meet yesterday and we listened to it, while drinking and throwing darts, last night.

The Obama campaign website has turned off the donor verification thingy--AGAIN

Couldn't Romney come up with a newsworthy line or two about that without getting his hair messed up?

Obama must be called out on easy stuff like this.

In Captain Hate's honor, I feel like dropping a few f'bombs on the thread.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Ext: I don't know about the donor verification, but Romney has been so quick to combat nearly everything Obama has said recently, to the point that I was musing the other day that they must have someone on the inside of the Obama campaign. Please remember that if you are counting on learning about this stuff from the media, it isn't going to happen. You have to watch and listen to Romney and his surrogates to know. This is especially true if you only listen to Fox, which is all Santorum all the time. The only Fox interview that I have seen so far with Romney that was the least bit favorable was by Brian Kilmead.

By the way, the Fox reporting on the Martin/Zimmerman matter has been abysmal, worse than either ABC or NBC, IMO, because they repeat all the original story with no updates at all as if that is fact.

Danube of Thought

I always had a soft spot for Dead Kennedys.

I believe the whole cheer is Rock Chock Jayhawk Kaaay-Yoooo. So it is really KU vs UK. (Chalk?...could be).

Iggy, thanks for the photo of your loovely bride and daughter. A very happy birthday to her.

One more anecdotal thing. My brother in Pittsburgh was favorably disposed to Santorum in the beginning but has been disappointed and now leans against him.
