'Captain Hate' has been pleading for an "Anything But Trayvon" thread, and my posts devoted to George Zimmerman didn't placate him. So anything it is!

Not that I don't have sympathy with an ABR candidate but is this the last we'll ever hear from Santorum? I wouldn't characterize what he's done as "fighting the good fight".

I'm at the bottom of my pool CH, so I'll root for Bill Self's charges and hope you win your pool (I have no idea whether Self runs a cleaner program than John Calipari, but I have to admire a guy who is so straigtforward at halftime about what a lousy first half the Jayhawks had against OSU).
Meanwhile, since TM is apparently too distracted to post his annual early April thread on the Bronx Bombers, I'll fill the gap with a riveting LUN with Yanks injury/roster spot talk.

First, oh God yes although at KY Cal can run a relatively clean program and still attract the blue chippers in large quantities. Second, I read something posted Saturday from a KU alum who claimed that Self's teams have followed a trend this season where they stay out of foul trouble in the first half by playing puss defense and then unleash the beast in the second half. It's worked pretty well so far.

Mark, I think Self is, along with K, at the elite level of kollidge coaches. Cal might have more firepower at his disposal to negate that but they seem to go through strange lapses during games. Don't get me wrong, Cal is a very good coach as well; but Self has smoked him at this level before and I'm counting on it happening again.

DoT;
I would compare leaf to Todd Marinovich. Same blow up as a player. A very short career defined by off the field issues.Not much chance to get hammered with consussions, especially as a QB.
Marinovich liked dope until it took over his body and soul.Oxycontin is the most abused prescription drug now. It will probably show up with Leaf.
Marinovich went on to heroin and last I heard was found in a public bathroom on the beach, strung out. I think he's in prison now. he had more chances than he probably deserved being a local hero.
Posted by: matt | April 02, 2012 at 03:52 PM
Ok Mel; the reason I asked was that I listened to the recording with the Blue and Yellow cover just called "Ornette" the other day (with Blackwell and Scott LaFaro) and was impressed with how well it stood up. I know that he can be a polarizing figure with his weird trumpet and violin playing and that Miles and Mingus held him in low regard; and any interview with him invariably turns into a complete waste of time. But for me when he plays the sax magic happens; obviously less so for you.
Posted by: Captain Hate | April 02, 2012 at 03:54 PM
Yes matt, they were both titanic busts although Marijuanovich joined a stellar group of high exposure QB drafting miscues of Al Davis, most recently JaBarfus Russell. Iirc, didn't odd Todd have a few games in which he showed some promise before his substance problems rode him completely off the rails; whereas cryin' Ryan was terrible from start to finish? Or am I misremembering things?

When I was considering harvesting a Carolina goose (they haven't been back to Canada in 10 generations), CH did recommend that the flaky flesh was worth the effort. Ext: I don't know about the donor verification, but Romney has been so quick to combat nearly everything Obama has said recently, to the point that I was musing the other day that they must have someone on the inside of the Obama campaign. Please remember that if you are counting on learning about this stuff from the media, it isn't going to happen. You have to watch and listen to Romney and his surrogates to know. This is especially true if you only listen to Fox, which is all Santorum all the time. The only Fox interview that I have seen so far with Romney that was the least bit favorable was by Brian Kilmead.
By the way, the Fox reporting on the Martin/Zimmerman matter has been abysmal, worse than either ABC or NBC, IMO, because they repeat all the original story with no updates at all as if that is fact.
