Barack Obama explains the timing behind his gutsy call on gay marriage:
Obama on Biden: 'Got Out a Little Bit Over His Skis'
Obama skis? I thought he was more of a snowboarder.
And this profile in decisiveness may one day be carved on Mt. Rushmore when it is renamed Mt. Obama:
"I had already made a decision that we were going probably take this position before the election and before the convention..."
Well, I have made a decision that I will probably laugh out loud the next time I read about Obama's bold "leadership". But maybe not! I'll let you know. Probably.

This has to be one of the most cynical political ploys in a very long time.
Joe Biden's "leak" built the buzz among the Hollywood and Gay communities about a major issue to them.
Then, Obama's announcement with full TV coverage on the day he attended George Clooney's fundraiser made sure that all was forgiven by the Hollywood/Gay community, one of his biggest bases for both propaganda and money.
Now the Hollywood/Gay community is energized and will get out the vote for "their guy". Textbook Chicago style politics.
Obama now is all in on his leftist agenda. This is going to be a very interesting election: The Race baiting crowd; the gays; the NOW and NARAL crowd have all received their due.
Next will be the race baiters and OWS crowds.
Romney has an incredible opportunity to differentiate himself as the reasonable candidate. All he needs to do is to use images of Obama's hard core supporters and his base, sort of like when you go to the optician.
"Is This better, or This?"

Hot Air:
If the President expects to get a boost at the ballot box over his flip-flop on same-sex marriage, the composition of North Carolina's vote on Tuesday might indicate a big problem in his strategy. Obama came out publicly against Amendment One, which shifted the state's ban on same-sex marriage from statute to constitutional amendment, and opponents railed against the loss as a victory for bigotry. However, that message might not sell well in the Tarheel State or in other swing states when black voters supported the constitutional ban by a 2-1 margin
**********************
Tough choice--he needs the money to get the votes but the money comes with a price tag that costs him votes.

It appears that Krauthammer has joined me in the irrational optimism ( at least according to some posters here). Here:
Krauthammer writes that "the Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November," and no one will credit him for boldness in that prediction. Some may disagree with his reckoning as to the reason for that likely loss: that "a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them."
Just remember, you heard it here first...

Do you have the internals of the poll? A topline of a poll, without pollster, demographics and sample size, margin of error and the type of poll ( internet, phone, adult, registered voter or likely voter ) is to put it bluntly, not worth a damn thing.

Survey of 451 LV between 4/26 and 4/30, MOE +/- 4.7%:
Romney - 55% (actual 66%)
Santorum - 15% (actual 10%)
Paul - 12% (actual 11%)

Survey of 1636 RV, MOE +/- 2.5%

Alice that is a start. Now we know its a RV poll not a Likely voter poll and its done by Survey USA, who is not a very accurate pollster. Not only that, but they blew the results pretty badly on the Republican primary with only a week's timeframe.
The real critical piece of information, is the split between D R and I. IF THAT IS WAY OFF, ( and I suspect it is ) then the poll is trash. But note that Zero is only getting 47% in a RV voter poll with an unknown demographic, in a State he carried last go round.
I think you can look at the NO PREFERENCE line in the primary and see that either a lot of Democrats in NC are going to stay home, leave the presidential boxes unchecked or even cross over and vote Republican. It will not likely be close in NC.

No-fault divorce was a lefty issue, no? There might have been a few Rockefeller Repukes on board but I don't recall it being a conservative initiative; more like part of the "If it feels good, do it" over-extended childhood. That's not to say that all divorces are bad per se; but some that I know of failed because of a lack of commitment of one or both parties. I don't think that Rush's marital record is one of his strong points; but at least they were childless unions (which is not where you find the real wreckage of the broken bond) and there haven't been any horror stories from the exes either about what a monster he was to be married to or how they got jobbed on the settlement (although he could have a gag order like Kucinich's exes do; if he does I don't know that).
Anyway, I'm off my soapbox now. For some reason I just got a letter from Mooch including a family portrait addressed *personally* to me, a list of all the great accomplishments of the JEF and a request for money. Let me get my checkbook now...

My alma mater was so pleased to name its first female Pres. She states expressly she is a feminist and the alums seem to think she means she is for equal pay for equal work or something.
When she was at her previous ihe, she chaired a feminist conference and had Davis as the keynote speaker. The good news is that she is a member of the requisite denomination as the bylaws require. I am thinking this is not quite what the founders had in mind.
One of the first changes was to change core requirements to broaden exposure. History became historical thought. Religion=religious perspectives. English to Rhetoric/Literary Studies. Those were substantive changes not announced to the applying students. I read the small print in alum magazine.
For more than $200 K over 4 years, you are to learn to serve others. Except if family makes less than $50K then you get to go for free.
A survey of minority students last year showed they sensed they were not regarded as being as strong academically. School response was to form task force to change how students treat minority students so their feelings are respected.
I told red not to apply. What a tragedy when schools think their mission is to change the mindset of students.
