First?

or did I get the inexpensive version with delayed quotes instead of real time quotes

NK

Well-- the Chicago Gang is in the WH afterall. No dissent from within the team is permitted-- ever. MelR can give us the details on how this works in practice, I'm sure.

Jane

Clinton doesn't mean it - and everyone knows it.

Tee hee.

My sister says the ads in NH are brutal. And the latest ones involve attacking Romney's marriage. That doesn't sound like it will work given Obama's criticism of Michelle's BJ skills.

dublindave

Surrogates will go off message from time to time, especially when it comes to subjective issues such as taxes and the role venture capitalism should play in our economy.

But describing your Boss, the guy you're trying to get elected to the highest office in the land as a giant, walking, talking etch-o-sketch with no core, is one for the books.

"Remember,my friends,Corporations ARE people.They ARE people,my friends."

Sometimes multiple-Mitt sounds like a Carnival barker from the 40's.

And the latest ones involve attacking Romney's marriage.

The insane hatred has GOT to be waking people up. My husband cringes with embarrassment at the Dem. propaganda & hatred on the TV & in the newspapers. He points things out to me now! The MFM are killing themselves with the over-the-top propaganda.

MaryD

Jane, I'm in NH but have been decked with the flu. Can you say a bit more about the ads?

patch

The RNC should take out an ad inviting "Slick" Willie Clinton and Corey Booker to join the Republican Party.

The ad inviting Clinton should have some scantily clad babes doing the inviting.

"Billy, call me". LOL!!!

Rob Crawford

My sister says the ads in NH are brutal. And the latest ones involve attacking Romney's marriage.

Wow. Is the left really that cocooned and that malignant?

Jane

Jane, I'm in NH but have been decked with the flu. Can you say a bit more about the ads?

Mary,

First I hope you feel better. Secondly, my sister was here overnight and that is what she told me. That's all I know. She is in Moultonboro altho I suspect the whole state gets the same stations.

MarkO

"Apparently nothing has to be done until the first of the year."

Puts it in Obama's face. He knows he was right and suggests that Obama doesn't have a clue, which is right.

"Apparently?"

Janet

That is a great idea, patch.

Another idea would be showing some of these celebrities that are supporting Obama in their big cars, planes, private schools, homes, lighted stages,...and then asking why do these people want YOU to live an austere life endlessly giving YOUR money to the government for ideas that they themselves don't participate in.

MarkO

I'd like to see those NH ads.

Jim,MtnView,Ca,USA

Regarding the media this quote would seem apt.
Also, LUN

If they were merely stupid, they would occasionally make a mistake in our favor.

Jim Ryan

My sister says the ads in NH are brutal. And the latest ones involve attacking Romney's marriage.

If so, then Obama is indeed trying to get the muddle who have come to detest him (see Sabato's remarks) and who vote inoften to stay home in disgust ("a pox on both their houses!").

Danube of Thought

Minus 16 at Raz today.

In a surprise announcement today, the President revealed a major new jobs creation program renovating and expanding the Washington National Woodshed.

"I realize that all Americans have the right to free speech, but at the same time we must enforce the will of the Party. This program will create or save 100,000 shovel ready jobs that will benefit all Americans."

Bill Clinton could not be reached for comment and Corey Booker made the sign of the zipper across his mouth.

Janet

Here is the C-SPAN link....it says live at 10:20.

NK

JimR@9:45-- absolutely right. I've said for 1 year (since 'Bam bailed on a debt deal last summer and started campaigning) that 'Bam will go all Left all of the time (war on women, attack the Bishops, gay marriage and on and on) and try to suppress indy voters by making the campaign so disgusting that they stay home in disgust. He's been doing it for a year, it will get worse until November.

Captain Hate

Oh for God's sake: Pass this bill Redux? Just effing brilliant.

MarkO

I find it impossible to listen to Obama. His speeches lack clarity. His cadence is clipped and annoying. Like the adolescent he remains, all of his speeches involve gratuitous attacks on fictitious positions or politicians that serve only to make his odd proposals seem rational. Other than the announcement about Osama, he has said nothing new or interesting since 2008.

We could write his speech and the answers to those not probing questions from the sycophantic press ourselves. Indeed, I’d prefer that.

NK,

That may well be the troika plan but the results in Wisconsin (and in the GOP registration drives in the battleground states) suggest strict adherence to the ACME Political Strategery Manual produces unanticipated outcomes.

President NewCoke Edsel will be leaving the White House for good in January.

Janet

I'm watching Rep. Jim Moran blabbing about an amendment to ban polystyrene containers from congressional food services.

These people are insane....what a joke. They aren't serious about our country at all. Go home losers.

Ah, Pegster, things you should have been aware of four years ago;

NK

RickB@10:23-- I don't think the 'Bam/JarJar/AxelPlouffe strategy will work -- I think ABO wins (and isn't Mitt's team turning out to be a wonderful ABO!)But in summer 2011 'Bam gave up on trying to con Indy voters again. So this all Leftwing is all they got. When 'Bam loses he pitches a fit, then comes the big showdown. 'Bam against what's left of the old Clinton "Third Way" Dems. 'Bam will either purge the 'centrists' out of the Dem Party, or form a Socialist/Black-Brown party. Pass the popcorn.

rse

Rick-LUN makes it official the various govt agencies of ed, justice, and hhs are working together to creatively figure out a way to get that awful PBIS that the commenter described mandated for all schools. To control the acute, unknown, we need a definition, bullying problem. Now having GAO do report was ingenious and manipulative.

The radical ed schemers know a huge part of their strategy is to control the very climate and culture of each school to ensure that its focus is to be a meaningful community for all kids. Where students can interact and learn the broad range of human emotions while learning to really understand themselves and others.

That's your Deep Understanding under this ed drive. Gag.

AliceH

From narcs link@10:30, a phrase I'm going to shamelessly steal:

"...the bloom is off the prose.."

That is brilliant. Now, nobody tell me they've seen/read that a hundred times before, or that it's old. It's new to me - let me enjoy it.

centralcal

Late, late, late - as always (Obama).

I agree with MarkO.

hrtshpdbox

We could write his speech and the answers to those not probing questions from the sycophantic press ourselves.

Yeah, but no matter how we tried, our script would still sound better than the pablum of reality. With Obama and his crew, it's just too good to make up!

"Due to the economic headwinds, my head is stuck in the stair railings."

centralcal

Love, Iowahawk, peter. Thanks for sharing.

centralcal

Well, gotta go to work. I will read about The Once's remarks here.

Jane

Do we get a Jane LiveBlog? Pleeeeeeeeeeaaase

NO!!!

I do have it on but the man is incomprehensible. However I will do the questions.

MarkO

Good. If Jane is anwering the questions, we will finally get the truth at an Obama press conference.

Jane

What role does the US play in European debt crisis? Are the Europeans competent. When will you tell them what to do?

WEll Greece is bad, other companies have a surplus but have other crises. The markets made it more expensive to borrow.

We have been telling them what to do for 2 years - at the very top - I tell them what to do all the time and I put Geithner on the job. WE can solve their problems, and all they need to do is what we did with Tarp. That will make everyone confident as they are here and voila - crisis solved.

peter

If I had never heard his voice, and if I never knew anything about the man, I would listen to this presser, and think, gee, he almost seems to make sense. But knowing his record, how he can have the arrogance to tell Europe what to do is just laughable.

peter

teacher and cop layoffs are the weak area in our economy? that doesn't sound right to me.

NK

Is the Once really lecturing the Euros? Really?

Jane

They need growth while it takes 2, 3, or 5 years to get stability.

(letting the dog in)

Our system is doing great but we have to fend off Europe because anything that happens here is all their fault.

Our "strong robust recovery" is great and I've outlined the steps needed to continue.

We need more state and local hiring. And more construction. And that is Congress fault.

2. What about what CLinton said - that European policy was like the repubs (austerity) and the republicans say you are blaming Europe for our problems. And how much time have you personally spent.

I am in consistent discussions about this over the last 2 years. We have a global economy.

Melinda Romanoff

Is there an "I Love Lucy" re-run I can watch?

Anywhere?

peter

Asked how much of his personal time he is devoting to the issue, he avoids answering the question, but says over the past two years, I am in consistent discussions over the last two years. What does that mean? five minutes a week?

peter

Mentions the recovery as if there is one.

NK

Teacher and cop layoffs are an unfortunate problem, I agree. So let's solve the problem, roll back pensions and benes for retired public employees that will leave money for current services. NATIONWIDE-- in the past 10 years pension/bene costs for cities/counties have increased 8 FOLD. Pension costs are destroying city/county budgets. Roll back the pensions.

Melinda Romanoff

Clinton hit him again yesterday afternoon.

Oh, this is SO on.

Linkee coming.

peter

I love the one where Lucy auditions down at the Club Babalu.

Rick Ballard

Take a moment and glance through the Gao Report which RSE highlighted. It's a scientistic rationale for elevating "possible damage caused by hurt feelings" to the point where chaining and shackling kindergartners for exhibiting human traits is going to be the next frontier of education.

Watching Obama lose the horse race is entertaining but the GAO report is more important wrt the future.

Rob Crawford

teacher and cop layoffs are the weak area in our economy? that doesn't sound right to me.

Remember -- public sector union members are Obama's most loyal demographic. That his campaign needs to address them directly means he's weaker than the press will admit.

NK

I love the episodes with Duke Wayne and Lucy entering the Westport Ct. garden contest-- the runaway lawnmower episode.

peter

thanks for the link, Rick.wonder how much that report cost us taxpayers

Melinda Romanoff

Here's the RCP clip where he touts HIS accomplishments and where he left things when he left office.

More popcorn, please!

henry

Teacher and cop layoffs? I think Wisconsin got to him. Dial gloat back up to eleven.

Janet

Only 2 questions so far...& blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
diarrhea of the mouth.

Jane

Europe is us in 2009 and 2010 when we took decisive action (which all failed). WE are being constructive, not scolding and giving them advice. We prod, advise, suggest but they make up their own mind.

It is "absolutely true in Europe and the US that we ahve short term and long term problems"
Short term is putting people back to work and make the economy work, because that is good for families and it reduces debt. T

CLinton says if when an economy is still weak you resort to a strategy of cutting and then have gvt lay-offs and reduction in govt spending, you are screwed. That will "crimp" the desire of companies to hire. That's Europe's problem and a 25% unemployment rate is bad.

So we are being steady and sensible - as in my budget. I want to reduce our health care spending (thru Obamacare) and keep investing in growth and jobs. That's the right approach to take.

Are you blaming Europe for your policies? WE've had huge job growth, the private sector is great and the only problem is we don't have enough govt workers. (I kid you not)

peter

He used the word flexibility. Wonder if Putin is listening.

narciso

I imagine, a lot of vita vetagemin must be consumed, in order for any of this to make sense,

peter

If he weren't such a bastard, I would feel sorry for him. This is just pathetic. AA Presidencies don't work.

Vitameatavegamin would help. He seems too pooped to peep.

NK

For people watching 'Bam's presser, has he started rolling the 3 steel balls around in his hand, and talk about frozen strawberries?

peter

My White House wouldn't purposely release classified information. That's offensive. Sounding Nixonesque at this point.

Melinda Romanoff

Vitameatavegamin.

NK

Peter.. any steel balls or strawberries yet?

Janet

He is scared answering this 3rd question about the national security leaks.

Jane

If republicans really want to people back to work theyw ill help state and local gvts and construction workers because their policies will result in lay-off, slower growth. Blah blah

3. National security issues - what's your reaction of it getting out and you being blamed.

I won't comment on the details of what are supposed to be classified items. And a CIC the issues touch on national security, war and peace and are classified for a reason - they are sensitive and the people involved may be in danger. (Duh) When the reports true or false surface that makes the job of people on the front lines harder and my job harder so I have zero tolerance for either the leaks or the speculations. No worries - we have mechanisms in place to root out the problems and we will thoroughly investigate.

The notion that MY WH would leak is offensive, wrong and people need to see how wonderful I and my staff is. We don't play with that info. It is a source of frustration and we will continue to do the stellar job that we are doing.

Everyone agrees the info did not come from this WH. Whenever classified info is released we find out who did it.

The end of the bullshit.

Noonan nails it:

"[Clinton's] friends say he can't help himself, that he's getting old and a little more compulsively loquacious. Maybe. But maybe Bubba's looking at the president and seeing what far more than half of Washington sees: a man who is limited, who thinks himself clever, and who doesn't know that clever right now won't cut it."

DebinNC

I can't believe he'd come within 10 miles of the words "my budget", given its unanimous, bipartisan rejection.

peter

Remember the end of the OJ trial when the prosecutor came out with a new hairdo, as if that were going to change anything? That's the vibe I am picking up here. He's trying so hard, but he knows he has lost the jury.

Janet

That is it. 3 questions. Someone yelled something about Wisconsin as he was skedaddling out of there...

Neo

It became apparent some weeks ago when the president talked on the stump—where else?—about an essay by a fellow who said spending growth is actually lower than that of previous presidents. This was startling to a lot of people, who looked into it and found the man had left out most spending from 2009, the first year of Mr. Obama's presidency. People sneered: The president was deliberately using a misleading argument to paint a false picture! But you know, why would he go out there waving an article that could immediately be debunked? Maybe because he thought it was true. That's more alarming, isn't it, the idea that he knows so little about the effects of his own economic program that he thinks he really is a low spender.

NK

Janet-- he should be. Starting January 2013 there will be a real DOJ and Senate Intelligent Committee-- there will be prosecutions for the leaks.

rse

Rick-don't miss the reference in the next to last paragraph of the Highlights to trying to make socioeconomic status grounds for being a protected group. That also plays in to defining bullying in terms of an imbalance of power. More need for governmentally mandated equality with enforceable remedies.

Also not the use of "not presently" and "directly" targeted. What they didn't tell you is this crap is coming in under those NCLB waivers.

Now you know why I decided to make engrenage a point of a post.

I am beginning to think engrenage is officially an essential part of the Chicago Way.

What was the purpose of that brief presser? Was it the need to be seen publicly after Wisconsin? I don't understand the thinking behind the slapdash, answer a couple of quick questions and run idea, other than that Team Obama is in full panic mode and incapable of thinking straight.

NK

3 questions? ... that's it? Hmmm.... something's going on. SCOTUS decision?, Germany leaving the Euro?.... My mind is racing with rivulets of thoughts....

From the Hosenball piece, May 18th;

At about 5:45 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 7, just before the evening newscasts, John Brennan, President Barack Obama's top White House adviser on counter-terrorism, held a small, private teleconference to brief former counter-terrorism advisers who have become frequent commentators on TV news shows.

According to five people familiar with the call, Brennan stressed that the plot was never a threat to the U.S. public or air safety because Washington had "inside control" over it.

Now he didn't have to give the name, all that was needed to know is who did AQAP entrust the bomb, too, and hadn't stayed in touch;

pagar

Thousands of teachers could be put back in the class rooms if the states didn't have to send money to Washington to support the bureaucrats.

My favorite illustration of bureaucrats works just as well for the Dept of Ed because no Washington bureaucrat is teaching your children or grandchildren.

To illustrate the effect of national bureaucrats, try to find out the number of deaths on US highways for 2011. Google doesn't seem to have that info. Where does the info come from? You can bet each state knows the number of deaths on their highway every day. They feed the info to Washington. A year and a half later after thousands of bureaucrats play with it, the info is released to the general public.
Fire all the bureaucrats involved and you could find out the number of highway deaths that occurred across the nation yesterday.

It would work the same way with education,
get Washington out of the education field and the states would do a better job of education.

Janet

What was the purpose of that brief presser?

That's what I was thinking, Deb. How can they even call it a "press conference"? The wait for Obama to come out because he was late...might have been longer than the actual "press conference"!

henry

Peter, you can add Brave Sir Robin at the end.

Captain Hate

What was the purpose of that brief presser? Was it the need to be seen publicly after Wisconsin?

I remarked a couple days ago that he felt the need in November 2010 to hold one immediately after the election disaster to act like he wasn't butthurt over it, at which he failed miserably. I have a feeling that the Pinhead Troika thinks it's important for Ear Leader to exert some of what they consider to be his charm to get the serfs back in the worship mode.

MarkO

Is it safe? Has the madness ended for today?

Oh one of the points of the green growth and the so-called new global economy that all these bad ed policies are creating the malleable minds and emotional mindsets for is that full, meaningful, sufficiently lucrative employment is the be the center piece of all economies.

I kid you not. The we have Tim Jackson pushing Prosperity Without Growth for the UN Millenium Project and lecturing all over the world. Watched his 2010 TED talk yesterday where " I am because we are" is to be the new definition of prosperity.

"Prosperity consists in our ability to flourish as human beings-- within the ecological limits of a finite planet."

They were celebrating in Oz the consensus there will be no treaty in Rio. I pointed out they do not need one. The intl agencies and education and devt are all proceeding as if Copenhagen and Rio+20 had not crashed.

NK

CH-- my guess is Monday is ObamaCare repeal day, and 'Bam/NYT are laying the groundwork for a vicious it's the old white guys fault, campaign that starts monday afternoon.

AliceH

My guess is, some reporters have a bunch of "news" stories they want to publish about how great Obama is for the economy, but they need an excuse to call them 'newsworthy'.

A press conference is just the thing to justify "here's why our economy is really just tickety-boo" stories.

Yeah - this suggests the press is driving the WH/campaign. Is that so hard to believe?

DebinNC

Looks like today's main ZerO events are welcoming the Super Bowl winning NY Giants to the WH, followed by an unspecified "campaign event"...as if his every waking moment doesn't fit that description.

Captain Hate

A caller to Laura Ingraham mentioned that he gets infuriated whenever El JEFe mentions "my White House" instead of "my administration". It's a small thing but I think it's also a good tell.

NK

If the Troika has 1/2 brain between them, there will be no videos of 'bam attempting to throw a football.

NK

did he actually say "My white house"

MarkO

AliceH has it. The Sunday shows can now safely ignore Wisconsin and talk about Obama's brave new economic world and how parsimonious he has been in his glorious stewardship. Praise his name.

Joan

He never fails.
The press never fails.
It's like there's a big screen and the wizard of Oz is behind it, busily providing the bombastic flatulence.

Yuk.

Rick Ballard

"What was the purpose of that brief presser?"

To demonstrate the fact getting rid of the white boys tasked to swat him with a newspaper and rub his nose in it every night was a "green screen" level error.

There's not gonna be a restart.
