Europe hasn't had policies anything like those of Mitt Romney for at least a few decades.
No, Europe took another route. They are beyond Barack Obama. They are where Obama would be if you let him be President for 10 or so more years. They are where Obama would be when he realizes that everything he has tried just didn't work they way his academic friends said it would. Europe is where Obama would be when he realizes that Maggie Thatcher was right, that eventually you run out of other people's money.

What would be the best day for the Supremes to release the decision striking down Obamacare? ("Best" in the sense of generating the most payback to BOzo.)
If Walker is above 54% on Tuesday then my hope is that the Supremes would hold off until the 18th. At <54%, the 11th would be OK. The 25th offers an opportunity for a twofer should the GDP report on Friday come in at <1%.

rse - what do you make of Jindal´s opening to voucher education in Louisiana ?
I find it comforting in an odd sort of way -- narciso can remember any little detail about anything at any time with total recall . . . except birthdays.
I can't remember jack squat about anything at any time . . . except birthdays.
Hit, sounds like you and narciso are a match made in heaven.
If I were head of the CIA or whatever they call it now, he'd have a permanent spot next to me as a sort of living encyclopedia.
Louisiana was one of the states that got a fed DoED NCLB waiver this week. Arne would not have done that unless the voucher does not work as jindal thinks.
By and large nothing in ed works as Reps think and they keep getting pawned as a result.
The most corrupt part of the process is accreditation. That's the primary poison delivery/ enforcement mechanism. That's why charters in Ga cannot work as rhetoric desires because of accred. Parents bind themselves to terms they do not understand because they are orwellian. Plus accred standards skew from there.
My guess from that review and knowing what goes on in australia which has similar vouchers is that it will open the door for adavanED (the accreditor) to dictate what those private school can and can't do. That's also what happened to private schools in Ga which have to be accredited at high school level for grads to have access to HOPE scholarships.
I am going to write on what Quality Learning really is next and then accred but there have been comments on accred in several posts.
They do not want the private schools to be beacons of light where you still have transmission of knowledge while the public schools are busy with remaking personalities.
I just finished something quite authoritative about an hour ago that makes it clear that the academics under common core are to involve "experiencing" the content and "participating" in it a la group projects and open-ended engaging realistic problems. Again I know this from its 19th century beginnings to what happened last week. And the new names for same old ideas. At this point I just keep piling up more confirming documentation of the current blueprint and then tracking back to its beginnings.
Something to be said for foolishly bringing in a cutting edge super and principal and charter where I live. I would not have so thoroughly mastered the accreditors role in all of this otherwise. They really were the only explanation for the arrogance. I think that's a big part of what made Bev Hall think she was untouchable. When the district admins know they are misrepresenting such a fundamental area to taxpayers and parents with the accreditors blessings. I think it fuels the financial and cheating corruption we have seen.
So bottom line is that this will destroy the academic integrity of private schools in La. Also India is going after the private schools too now arguing it is part of its commitment under the UN's Education for All I wrote about most recently. So there are some more details to a very ugly story.

Warren up ..."(she gets quiet) For so many years our champion was Senator Kennedy. I worked for him and to this day keep a voice mail he left me. She wishes she could thank him one more time and honor his memory.(She sounds like she is about to cry)"
but then THIS - "This is the people’s seat and we will bring it back to the people of MA. (Huge cheers)"
Wasn't the whole "people's seat" point made because the Dems kept calling it "Kennedy's seat"? Warren is gonna steal Scott Brown's line????
My gawd, Jane. Those applauders in the audience are so eager and determined to have their ears tickled. They refuse to acknowledge the truth or even care what the facts are. I should be way beyond being amazed at the Democrat voter's gullibility by now, but their gross ignorance of reality and willingness to believe Republicans are the problem and NOT their own ideology, still floors me!
"In recent years, Democrats have argued that requiring voters to show photo IDs prior to voting is an egregious act of voter suppression...modern-day Jim Crow laws."
But "With so much at state, Democrats have decided to implement Voter ID requirements...in their state's Democrat party convention... on Saturday."
I'd leave, Jane. They won't know the tally right away anyway.
For my little 8th congressional district foray I left after I voted & then looked for the results online.

Maybe you've covered it but I haven't played catch-up yet.
Looks wise, is there any DEM Politician in that Convention that is as good looking as Scotty Brown?
Seems to me that from Massachusetts Dem's its usually Barney the Repulsive and Teddy K the grotesque slob and Kerry the Horse-faced French speaker and Lizzy the pathetic low cheekboned squaw.
Is there any Dem there, man or woman running for office, that would make you or me or Iggy do any salivating, or are they all unfortunately rather homely?
But feel free to leave anytime and don't hang out just to answer my stupid question.
Any respect I had for Jazz Shaw at Hotair took a terrific beating with his description of the idiot jester of Business Insider, Joe Weisenthal, as an 'economic guru'. The most entertaining thing at BI is reading the comments ripping this cretin to shreds every time he posts. Not only is he an aficionado of the latest lefty snake oil, MMT, he lacks even the slightest journalistic chops or ethics; IOW a perfect match for the proprietor of PI the crook, Henry Blodgett.
"wishes she could thank him one more time"
Mary Jo Kopechne has not had the opportunity either.
Are the people at that convention smarter looking than the ones who can't get a photo ID? Besides the fact that the democrats seem to argue their voters are too dumb to get a photo ID, it seems to me that they are saying that their elected representatives are too dumb to solve a simple problem like how to make sure every voter can get a photo ID.
American Independence vs. Global Government: Are We Losing the Struggle?

They refuse to acknowledge the truth or even care what the facts are.
What was interesting to me is how they phrased things. There were lots of lies, but tons of half lies.
I really need a drink after that.
And no, no good looking elected democrats. None, nada, not-a-one. Lots of hippy looking people wearing 50-20 buttons. The guy to my right was wearing a Dashiki. Jim Braude was holding court on the left.
From the response it didn't sound like Marisa would get her 15% but we will see.
I know it is not new news, I guess I knew it all along. I had the pleasure of spending 6 hours yesterday at Gate C28 at Logan Airport (waiting for the storms to clear DC so I could get home). That meant 6 hours of CNN in my face.
Apparently all the folks on camera, all of their bosses, and all of their writers... and all of their viewers, if any, do believe all that c**p, hook line and sinker. Even the economic news of yesterday barely set them back and was promptly spun so as to do no harm to Obama.
There really really is a parallel universe out there and my sense is that one camp or the other is in for a very rude awakening.

"Barack Obama Condemns America's Treatment of Vietnam Veterans As 'National Shame'"

and than on Friday going to a fund raiser co hosted by Marilyn Katz. Marilyn Katz would have to be in the top half dozen of the most vicious Anti American anti Vietnam veteran protesters of all time.

In fact, It is my opinion, that there was/are few Vietnam War protesters who would not vote for Obama if they were still alive.
I don't believe Obama has ever issued a more hypocritical statement than the one he issued Monday on the Vietnam Veterans.

"Do we have a JOM Bail Fund?"
Doesn't sound like Jane will need it today.
From reading her posts she seems pretty calm.
I hope she is up high in that building, because it sounds like the BS must be getting pretty deep. Might need a boat to go in and rescue her.
I don't believe I have ever seen that much detail in political reporting of a single event. Go Jane and thanks!

They call her Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning
No one you see, is smarter than she
And we know Flipper, Flipper, lives in a world of wonder
And it's no blunder, she's part Cherokee!

Oh I am on the top of the arena, pretty much all by myself. I wonder if this is the last thing to happen.

from Jane's live blogging -
Warren up ..."(she gets quiet) For so many years our champion was Senator Kennedy.

Good Morning!
Jane,
Lemme' hear you holler "Jim Crow!
Call Eric Holder! Hire a Lawyer! This is outrageous!!!
MASS DEMOCRATS: NO ENTRY TO CONVENTION WITHOUT PHOTO ID
"In recent years, Democrats have argued that requiring voters to show photo IDs prior to voting is an egregious act of voter suppression...modern-day Jim Crow laws."
But "With so much at state, Democrats have decided to implement Voter ID requirements...in their state's Democrat party convention... on Saturday."

So do you guys care if I leave before the vote? I'm pretty bored.
Posted by: Jane | June 02, 2012 at 02:02 PM
I'd leave, Jane. They won't know the tally right away anyway.
For my little 8th congressional district foray I left after I voted & then looked for the results online.

“What KID asks their grandparents for legal documentation to go along with their family stories?’’ Warren wrote."
Lets see, she's born in 1949, and she tells Harvard in 1992 she's officially a Native American Women of Color.
So she was a 43 year old KID when she passed that on.
George Zimmerman should be so lucky.

Only if you brought along a stink bomb to leave behind.
In a pinch a ripe dead cat will do.

Will this Hayek do?
Posted by: Danube of Thought | June 02, 2012 at 02:18 PM
Jane,
Here's a question.
Posted by: daddy | June 02, 2012 at 02:18 PM
narciso - that Warren remark about working for (Teddy) Kennedy was news to me, also.
Posted by: AliceH | June 02, 2012 at 02:19 PM
I believe more people will start to embrace Hayek if this keeps up.

Happy Birthday JWest
You don't smell a day over 30!

AFSCME declined to comment.
I am still laughing at this.

--When did Warren work for Kennedy--
When her mother told her she did. Come on, what kid would even question it?

-Will this Hayek do?--
Never heard of her, but she does appear to have a sweet acidophilus.

via Instapundit, an unbelievably sleazy political flyer in WI.
(Also at althouse, but I reckon she gets enough Instapundit traffic, she doesn't need my help. )

So I don't qualify as a salivator? Gee whiz...
Posted by: Danube of Thought | June 02, 2012 at 02:40 PM
"wishes she could thank him one more time"
Mary Jo Kopechne has not had the opportunity either.
Are the people at that convention smarter looking than the ones who can't get a photo ID? Besides the fact that the democrats seem to argue their voters are too dumb to get a photo ID, it seems to me that they are saying that their elected representatives are too dumb to solve a simple problem like how to make sure every voter can get a photo ID.

American Independence vs. Global Government: Are We Losing the Struggle?
This fits right in with rse's research and timely warnings. I wonder where Romney's head is on this. We don't have much time left to dilly-dally, while the termites eat away at our sovereignty. LUN

Home again, home again, jiggidy jig.
