All--- what do we call it if the SCOTUS completely repeals Obamacare this month? "My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thoughts cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives." Hedley Lamar
My 8 year old has had a stomach problem for 10 days. She goes to sleep on time and sleeps restlessly. When she wakes up, at the normal time, she feels an intense pain on the lower right side of her belly button.
You can feel the gas pressure in her stomach. She then has a rapid onset of nausea. Rapid and forceful burping, followed by vomiting saliva. After two or three sessions she feels tip top. Only once did the vomit include some bile. There is never any solids.
She is pooping semi-ok, and her afternoon and evening appetite remains strong. She is keeping up with her liquids.
I am calling a specialist today. The pediatrician has gotten nowhere, and a trip to the ER was inconclusive.
She was on 3days of antibiotics, at the beginning of the 10 days, for strep throat. They said her stomach should have returned to normal by now, so they discounted this as a problem.
Sorry for the off topic. Any input would be appreciated.
Narc-- thanks for the link. The story is probably mostly true-- the military probaly didn't want to disclose the recordings which would expose the intelligence they gathered from the Gitmo conversations. And I find myself in rare a greement with a Burka wearing Lefty lawyer who said:
Cheryl Bormann, an attorney for another of the defendants, Walid bin Attash, said she wouldn’t be surprised if the government had surreptitiously recorded her client’s conversations.
“Their entire scheme here, meaning the U.S. government, has been to collect intelligence,” Bormann said. “The system was designed to do that and prosecution was an afterthought.”
Why yes my Burka wearing friend, it should all be about gathereing intelligence from these Jihadi murderers to protect the innocent.
Oh yikes - my niece had a ruptured appendix for 2 weeks before they discovered it. Apparently if abscessed around itself (or something like that)and its the only reason she survived.
I'm pretty sure a regular doc would check the appendix. My sister wasn't really into docs at the time.
Sorry for the off topic. Any input would be appreciated.
Sometimes the antibiotic is the problem (killing all the good fauna in the digestive tract) . . . if so, daily yogurt will help a lot. (And it probably can't hurt, so if it's not the problem, no harm no foul.)
TK...acid reflux can occur in children,a niece was treated at a young age with acid suppressers. The antibiotic might have upset her GI system.Keep us posted.
When the communications official explained to her that I have a right to express my opinion as “a matter of academic freedom,” and that Harvard has no control over what I say, she did not seem to understand.
Shocking! Reminds me of the "judge" who railroaded Walker -- no concept that there are limits to their power.
I said something similar to a friend in email - I think we'll look back on the first week in June as the week that even Obama-supporting idiots started to realize that Obama was going to lose.
And that was before the Walker win. So it only gets worse for him from here on out.
I concur with those recommending yogurt (or acidophilus supplements - those come in chewable kid-friendly tablets). Try to go with the least sweet yogurt she will eat (sugar weakens the acidophilus cultures).
But if that doesn't do the trick quickly, of course seek other solutions.
I would be wary of suggestions that her regular diet is the problem, though. Some of these specialists are on the "gluten is the root of all evil" train.
Good luck! My older daughter is the same age - it's hard to see them feeling poorly for so long.
Dave, he lost by 779 votes but has not conceded yet. That is about 1%, beyond the zone where a recount would be effective, but many stories of Teamster led same day registrations Tuesday evening in the city of Racine give a faint hope. Unless someone has a picture of paid IL residents (roughly 1500-2000 from reports) getting paid to register and vote, Wanggaard will concede once the vote canvas is complete.
Unemployment is up, despite the Obama admin's best efforts to fiddle with the numbers.
The economy is still in the crapper, people are still out of work, and the extended unemployment benefits have run out.
Obama's utopian model of Socialist Europe is imploding and running out of money, and Americans are horrified that the same could happen here.
Booker, Ford, Bubba J and others have broken ranks with Obama over their anti-Romney and anti-Bain BS.
Obama has basically abandoned and lost working class white voters.
And blacks have been some of the hardest hit financially because of Obama's policies ... how likely are they to go to the polls simply to retain a half-breed as POTUS who hasn't really helped them?
Other than radical libturds in Hollywierd, academia, unions, and anarchist OWS remnants, what - exactly - is left for Obama?
I'm feeling pretty hopeful right now, but of course, things could change.
TK,
If you're trying to get good bugs to grow get her some good live culture pro biotics like Porch said.
It's amazing how many yogurts and other supplements meant to enhance the old flora and fauna down there do little to nothing.
And get her to that gastroenterologist post haste before a little thing might become a big one.
If it's nothing important, no harm no foul.
If it is you might save you and her and the rest of the TKs a lot of anguish before it gets hard to handle.
At the risk of sounding intemperate, special-ed prosecutor Corey seems to me to be the type Jefferson thought were fertilizer for the Tree of Liberty.
How smart is Scott feeling for appointing her over the regular prosecutor? Maybe this is a good time to point out that caving to the mob never turns out well.
fdcol63@11:06-- those are all of the megatrends (plus indy voter hating the $5Trillion debt 'Bam has racked up)and they point to the Once getting 45-45% of the vote and under 200EVs. If nothing significant changes between now and November, that's exactly what will happen.
Spread of 700 or so, canvas of the polls to be done tomorrow, which includes some story of 2000+ same day registrants with "Occupant" utility bills as ID. And no concession.
Still has time to play out.
And this would be the mostly likely place to stop, after the construction on 94.
If Wanggaard were a Dem, the vote canvas would naturally turn up a few boxes of ballots in a trunk somewhere.
Sadly, these close ones rarely (never?) go our way.
Racine was targeted not only b/c of proximity to IL border but because Wanggaard's seat was the most vulnerable of the four and so presented the best potential yield.
Porch, there is a silver lining in that cloud. There is a record of all same day registrations and a GAB verification process (takes a month or so) that will record the fraud for use in the VoterID lawsuits.
If Goonunion thugs couldn't make it to Milwaukee in time and instead voted in Racine because of I-94 construction.... Hmmmm? well 2000 votes would be a bigger looking fraud in Racine, and if it's discovered on a recanvas, and it turned out that I-94 construction was a STIMULUS! project, that would be sweet irony, wouldn't it. It'll never happen of course, but just the possibility is delightful to think about.
henry, that is good news. I was wondering if all the same-day regs from Tuesday would still be valid in November. Sounds like some will and some won't.
My guess is that we'll find out well after Wanggaard has conceded that more than 779 of them were in fact not valid.
Thanks everybody. We have the same feeling about the probiotics. My wife started giving her a pill two nights ago.
We have not seen a significant improvement yet. I am calling the specialist at 9. She is such a sweet pea. This is tough to watch.
If you thought a mechanic could be a nightmare for lawyers, you should see what I do to doctors. My wife has formally requested that I "cool it" before I engage in mock battle.
TK, good luck. That's scary.
Yes, be sure to try yoghurt and other benign ideas. It's reassuring to the kid, whether or not it helps.
And try more doctors, until you find one who shows a zest to own the problem and take action to solve it. There are so many conditions which sort themselves out that a busy doctor can mistakenly advise "waiting a few days".
Good luck, TK; especially if your daughter finds out you're discussing her intestinal maladies on an open forum. If she does, stress the anonymity of nics; it may send you merely to purgatory.
Hope she gets well, TK. I have an 8-year old, too ... a boy ... and I know how helpless you feel when you watch them suffer and can't do anything to help them.
TK, I agree with Janet--as obvious as it is, I'd be very aggressive about ruling out appendicitis. It's not always easy to diagnose, but it's something you don't want to take a chance on. I know of a case where a doc missed it and the guy ended up in the hospital for several weeks.
How can any doctor worth his non-bath salt not be aware of the possibility of an abdominal pain being related to the appendix? That just strikes me as grossly counter-intuitive.
TK-I am so sorry. My experience is that if you or your wife have not picked it up in some form, it's not viral.
I am the enforcer in the house and dad is the pal. But when the kids are sick even my son wants me at doctor because I don't defer. I keep asking question. Plus red says I will remember everything doctor says for reference later. They used to call me the Human dictionary for spelling. Now my role being cook is to keep track of their info.
My wife presented with appendicitis a few years ago, and we at first thought that she'd just pulled a muscle or something. But it got steadily worse over the weekend. Luckily, she worked for some oncologists and got one of them to look at it on the following Monday when she returned to work. He palpated it, quickly determined she needed to go to the hospital ASAP, and was able to call in a favor and got a surgeon to take her in immediately.
It burst just after they got it out. Which was a good thing ... pathology found that a cancerous tumor had caused the blockage that had caused the appendicitis.
Removing it in situ prevented the spread of cancerous cells into her colon. But they removed her ascending colon, anyway, and then resected it to provide for clear margins. Then she's had to have periodic colonoscopies since to make sure she's clean.
"My guess is that we'll find out well after Wanggaard has conceded "
Why concede before every phony registration has been checked out. How many contracts do the utilities have where they do not have any other ID for the user except "Occupant'?
--Which was a good thing ... pathology found that a cancerous tumor had caused the blockage that had caused the appendicitis.--
A guy doing chemo in the same office as my wife had exactly the same thing happen when he had appendicitis. I thought that it was highly weird but perhaps it's more common than I thought.
That peace is likely to include a prisoner swap – or a "confidence-building measure," as U.S. officials working on the negotiations call it – that could finally end the longest war in America's history. Bowe is the one prisoner the Taliban have to trade. "It could be a huge win if Obama could bring him home," says a senior administration official familiar with the negotiations. "Especially in an election year, if it's handled properly."
It would have to be in pictographs. By the time Dana Gilbert Ward and the rest of the Pitzer faculty are done, no Pitzer College graduate is able to read or count.
Apparently the Racine utility always puts "Occupant" on its invoices. That defeats the purpose of a utility bill for registration, but it is a Dem City.
“It isn’t lost on us that the one commonality in Wisconsin, San Diego and San Jose is that we were considerably outspent,” said Steven Kreisberg, the director of collective bargaining at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees in Washington.
Heh. It is, however, apparently lost on them that while we spend our money, they also spend our money - and objections to that little fact is finally reaching critical mass.
Just like that Air France airbus that crashed, sometimes the obvious isn't considered like the co-pilot yanking backwards the whole time. Maybe the doc did miss the appendix differential.
I am beside myself about this Holder hearing. Mr Qualye and Ms Adams did a spectacular job. The left wants to talk about increased benefits for cops, Kroger and new airports and are thoroughly disinterested. Holder is being a dick and not answering anything. He's been caught in several bits of misinformation (lies) and wiggles out of every one.
At one point he talked about the politics of the job and two congressmen went nuts over him admitting he was political. His excuse: "Do you think John Ashcroft was a conservative".
President Obama’s ambassadorial nominee to Iraq appears to have conducted a lascivious extramarital affair with a Wall Street Journal reporter while the duo were stationed in Iraq according to a collection of often-explicit emails posted on the website Cryptome earlier this week. The emails raise questions about whether the administration official traded access to sensitive information for sexual favors and his fitness for the ambassadorship.
The stupid party?
-building a Permanent Republican Majority by getting into a bidding war over the size of the welfare state with the people who created the welfare state, logrolling all the way
-buttressing the PRM with Comprehensive Immigration Reform, embracing the totally not racist notion that there are some jobs that are beneath us but are fit for Mexicans
-adding "explaining and defending a Republican President's war policy" to the list of Jobs Americans Won't Do, as far as the Party is concerned
-submitting to the rhetorical demands of the press in interviews and debates, whether discussing the 6+ month/40+ nation rush to unilateral war or the horrors of a 5% unemployment jobless recovery
-displaying bipartisanship by employing less prosecutorial vigor against opposition Congressmen who neglect taxes, steal elections, or funnel weapons to enemies of the United States than vs Republican senior staff who misremember a phone call
Clean up all that stuff and the issue of not being willing to criticize Obama in 2008 never comes up, bc the Dems end up nominating somebody to the right of Zell Miller.
The Althouse link doesn't convince me of anything. At what point has this administration done anything that even slightly resembles competence? Mr. Occam, you have been shaved, put down that razor.
It is much more likely that they truly felt (wished) that Walker was vulnerable and that the couldn't get Russ and Falk had no chance so they went to Barrett.
Karl Rove managed to write post-mortem on the Wisconsin election and what it portends in Today's WSJ without making any mention whatsoever of the Tea Party. WTF?
Thanks TM. Can't get enough gloat!

TK, I agree with Janet--as obvious as it is, I'd be very aggressive about ruling out appendicitis. It's not always easy to diagnose, but it's something you don't want to take a chance on. I know of a case where a doc missed it and the guy ended up in the hospital for several weeks.
Posted by: jimmyk | June 07, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Yes, appendicitis is sneaky.
Posted by: Porchlight | June 07, 2012 at 11:44 AM
How can any doctor worth his non-bath salt not be aware of the possibility of an abdominal pain being related to the appendix? That just strikes me as grossly counter-intuitive.
Posted by: Captain Hate | June 07, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Apparently Holder claims no one read the documents presented to them for a warrant. Wouldn't that admission alone be cause for him to be fired?
Posted by: Sue | June 07, 2012 at 11:48 AM
TK-I am so sorry. My experience is that if you or your wife have not picked it up in some form, it's not viral.
I am the enforcer in the house and dad is the pal. But when the kids are sick even my son wants me at doctor because I don't defer. I keep asking question. Plus red says I will remember everything doctor says for reference later. They used to call me the Human dictionary for spelling. Now my role being cook is to keep track of their info.
Good to be useful I suppose.

All in all, we were very lucky.

Somebody @ AoS made a list of some of the donk brilliant ideas of recent years:
1. Air America
2. The Coffee Party
3. The Occupy Movements
4. The Wisconsin Recall
How have we ever lost to these geniuses?
Posted by: Captain Hate | June 07, 2012 at 11:55 AM
"My guess is that we'll find out well after Wanggaard has conceded "
Why concede before every phony registration has been checked out. How many contracts do the utilities have where they do not have any other ID for the user except "Occupant'?
Posted by: pagar | June 07, 2012 at 11:58 AM
"How have we ever lost to these geniuses?"
Because the GOP establishment is afraid of standing for conservative values and afraid of telling liberals and Dems to FOAD.

Jane did you ever see Madagascar?
No, but I read "happiness is a choice" and my goal is to get back there.
Posted by: Jane | June 07, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Holder is a slime.
Posted by: Jane | June 07, 2012 at 12:07 PM
They are tossing Clinton under the bus. Saying it is because he is 65 years old. Whoa Nellie! I expect him to endorse Romney any day now.
Posted by: Sue | June 07, 2012 at 12:07 PM
The democrats protecting him are slimier.
Posted by: Jane | June 07, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Slick will not take kindly to this.
Posted by: Porchlight | June 07, 2012 at 12:11 PM
It's only a matter of time until Rahm jumps on the Clinton bandwagon, too , and gets even with Va, MO and BO.
Later

Maybe you aren't as smart as you think you are.
Isn't that engraved on every Pitzer degree?
Posted by: Captain Hate | June 07, 2012 at 12:14 PM
How about adding slime to the choices?
That peace is likely to include a prisoner swap – or a "confidence-building measure," as U.S. officials working on the negotiations call it – that could finally end the longest war in America's history. Bowe is the one prisoner the Taliban have to trade. "It could be a huge win if Obama could bring him home," says a senior administration official familiar with the negotiations. "Especially in an election year, if it's handled properly."
I'm almost speechless.

Wrong thread. Oh well...

CH,
It would have to be in pictographs. By the time Dana Gilbert Ward and the rest of the Pitzer faculty are done, no Pitzer College graduate is able to read or count.

Not unaware, CH, just unable to detect.

Apparently the Racine utility always puts "Occupant" on its invoices. That defeats the purpose of a utility bill for registration, but it is a Dem City.
Posted by: henry | June 07, 2012 at 12:20 PM
TK,
Does her breath smell like rotten apples? Classic tell for appendicitis. But I agree that any competent doc would check for this.
I recommend one of the good greek yogurts with multiple bio strains.

Ah, thanks jimmyk.

I'm broadening my gloat to more thoroughly incorporate San Jose and San Diego.
from CNBC:
Heh. It is, however, apparently lost on them that while we spend our money, they also spend our money - and objections to that little fact is finally reaching critical mass.

Alice-
You may, or may not, want to play the video at this link. Just the image alone brings to mind the writing genius of Oliver Stone.

Just like that Air France airbus that crashed, sometimes the obvious isn't considered like the co-pilot yanking backwards the whole time. Maybe the doc did miss the appendix differential.
Posted by: peter | June 07, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Clarice-
Ann Althouse put this up and I can't see any flaws in the logic, that Rahm was sent to strip the union ties, optically, off of the Presidential re-election by getting Barrett to run.
Something to think about.
Posted by: Melinda Romanoff | June 07, 2012 at 12:41 PM
Possibly, but besides the dead fish, what inducement would get one to go on such a kamikazi run,
Posted by: narciso | June 07, 2012 at 12:54 PM
Mel@12:35 - Grayson called Bill Clinton "crazy"!
Posted by: AliceH | June 07, 2012 at 12:58 PM
I am beside myself about this Holder hearing. Mr Qualye and Ms Adams did a spectacular job. The left wants to talk about increased benefits for cops, Kroger and new airports and are thoroughly disinterested. Holder is being a dick and not answering anything. He's been caught in several bits of misinformation (lies) and wiggles out of every one.
At one point he talked about the politics of the job and two congressmen went nuts over him admitting he was political. His excuse: "Do you think John Ashcroft was a conservative".
He should be removed and banished.

How have we ever lost to these geniuses?
Posted by: bgates | June 07, 2012 at 01:54 PM
The Althouse link doesn't convince me of anything. At what point has this administration done anything that even slightly resembles competence? Mr. Occam, you have been shaved, put down that razor.
It is much more likely that they truly felt (wished) that Walker was vulnerable and that the couldn't get Russ and Falk had no chance so they went to Barrett.
Posted by: harrjf | June 07, 2012 at 01:59 PM
Using the razor, both of those could be true...
