The unions spent millions of dollars and over a year’s worth of effort to get a temporary one-seat majority in a chamber that will never meet in session. And that’s assuming that their lone win from last night holds up in a recount. Congratulations, Big Labor!
What of all the other races? Unions and Democrats contested ten state Senate races over the past year, one Supreme Court position, and the Governor and Lt. Governor offices. They ended up farther back than when they started. Scott Walker improved his 2010 performance by 125,000 votes, and Barrett lost by a bigger percentage than in 2010. Rebecca Kleefisch trounced her opponent, who hadn’t even been on record as voting until 2008.

Public employee unions lost big last night, but maybe they should.
I always found it odd that the very same folks who want government to think for everybody else, don’t seem to believe that the government that they work for should think for them. The very same government that enforces the laws, some how isn’t trust worth enough to give their employees a fair shake. Or is it that when it comes to balancing the interests of the public and the public employees, the employees just want more.
Think of it this way, Sue. If the Celts prevent the Heat from starting their inevitable run of eight NBA titles, they will just be following the examples of Dirk and the Mavs in 2011.
I'm going to speak out for President Obama this morning. I have heard some progs deeming yesterday a victory for the Prez, because those ever reliable exit polls have him ahead in Wisconsin. There’s also the risk — actually the reality — that more than a few Democrats walked away from last night bitter at their own party. Local Democrats are already griping about what they saw as half-hearted support, at best, from Obama and the Democratic National Committee.
Republicans walked away united, motivated and organized like never before.

Hey - Gus, your union comment made me wonder. In those exits polls about "union household"... did any of them differentiate PUBLIC union from PRIVATE union hhlds? (My recollection was PRIVATE unions were wholeheartedly for the mining contract.)
Alice, a teamster called in Laura Ingraham this morning (I'm listening on this glorious day just to hear the gloating) and said he and his private sector union retiree parents all consistently supported Walker. Admittedly it's only anecdotal...
Markets are up nicely with the Wisconsin results having absolutely nothing to do with the JEF's prospects in November.
It's probably true that market gains have nothing to do with yesterday's primary, or what it might bode for Obama. If anything, Wall Street doesn't like Romney's vow to replace Bernanke; they love the easy money Chariman and they hate the prospect of unknown changes. Market mavens are far too short-sighted to think in terms of actual long-term fiscal responsibility; in any case, market movements are essentially inscrutable, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a bear market right into the election regardless of who's leading in the polls.
Heh, Narciso Falk polled worse than Barrett. They will blame Feingold for not running. He's the only active Dem that has won statewide (and even he lost in 2010).

It's an amazing victory, you guys deserve your "gloating" time.
Added to the victory of taking away the bargaining rights of public workers was the Republican Senate halting of the 'fairness paycheck act' that would have ensured women are payed the same as men.
So in terms of taking away the rights of workers, yesterday was a majour victory for you Republicans.
Ahhhhhh Wee weee DouchebagDave, is your ass sore son? The FAIRNESS PAYCHECK ACT, did NOTHING to ensure women are payed the same you fuxing idiot. The BULLSHIT PAYCHECK ACT allowed UNLIMITED LAWSUIT CLAIMS.
The libs picked the wrong governor to demonize too. Scott Walker is so gracious & articulate & nice looking.
The contrast between the childish lib/union insanity & the adult, calm Walker really stands out.
Walker is a guy who appears to be in government for exactly the right reason. I can't believe he put up with a full year of this stuff and kept his cool.
Read a tweet today that says Kleefisch has colon cancer. (The tweet hoped she died from it.) 2 more gracious people you will not find. I also don't believe Walker has a college degree. All of our politicians should be chosen randomly from the phone book.
Yesterday was a good day, a battle won, in the long war defending freedom and each citizen's liberty against tyranny. The tyranny of Kings' "divine right" of the past and today's filthy socialist totaliterian scum. The next battle is in November. A bigger fight and the victory will be sweeter.
Setting aside that we actually have a Republic, what do these thugs think elections are? They lost an election -- OK, three -- that doesn't mean there won't be another one!
Are these people so wrapped up in their politics that a lost election means that much to them? Honestly -- what is wrong with them?
Jane, Scott Walker is "God" centered. I chatted with him last night. He left Marquette University in the second semester of his Senior year to provide for his family.
The LEFT is immoral. I asked last week for names of any LIBS or DEMS with integrity. The list was small and shrinking.
There is already federal equal pay legislation, DublinDave. In any event, I too am concerned about pay disparities. In fact, to lead the way, I think all prog Congresscritters should contribute half their salary to a Congressional Prog Comparable Worth Trust. Distributions from this trust should be made to equalize all salaries in a prog Congressional office. Why should a secretary in Nancy Pelosi's office make less than Nancy Pelosi. The secretary's work is obviously more worthwhile than San Fran Nan's work.
If a portion of each prog Congresscritter's salary isn't sufficient, I would impose a 55% wealth tax on each prog Congresscritter to increase funding of the trust. Frankly, I'm surprised prog Congresscritters haven't already started such a trust. After all, the 1% must make sacrifices for the 99%!
"Franklin Delano Roosevelt—who more than any other president set our country on a course away from the founding principles of limited government—knew that public sector unions would be the death of the social welfare state he worked so hard to create. Hence, he consistently opposed allowing government employees to unionize. Today, Greece sets the example of what happens when public sector unions gain the upper hand."
Go ahead, DuDa: tell us why government workers should have collective bargaining rights.
--Added to the victory of taking away the bargaining rights of public workers was the Republican Senate halting of the 'fairness paycheck act' that would have ensured women are payed the same as men.--
Collective bargaining is not a right, especially for public employee unions, which in themselves do not constitute a right.
As to the 'fairness paycheck act' it is usually the case that any bill with the word 'fairness' in it is either screwing somebody or as Rob notes only 'fair' in that deposits vast amounts of chum in the water for the insatiable trial lawyers.
Maybe El JEFe's administration should voluntarily quit underpaying wimmenz, since Stedman is very selective on which laws he chooses to enforce anyway.
Shouldn't the JEF be holding a presser like he did in November 2010 where he can look all butthurt and talk about what he's "learned". Or did Mooch's appearance on the gap-toothed imbecile's show serve as that?
Rush is playing Wolf Blitzer, back to back, from his 9 o'clock update to his 10 o'clock update. It is hilarious listening to Blitzer at 9 when he believes CNN's exit polling and then at 10 when reality sets in.
it is usually the case that any bill with the word 'fairness' in it is either screwing somebody or as Rob notes only 'fair' in that deposits vast amounts of chum in the water for the insatiable trial lawyers.
And the same goes whenever someone on the left talks about "rights." Invariably it is the right to screw somebody or obtain special privileges. Rights are almost invariably individual, not collective. Even the right to "peaceably assemble" is predicated on the freedom of individual choice. Collective bargaining is a special privilege that gives union thugs the power to extort.

Minus 14 at Raz today.
Tied with Romney.

Dems control the Senate now.
Good for them!
We should ensure that when Democrats control a legislative body, it's one that's out of session and due to be replaced before the next session!

Congratulations.

Don't bother ol' Rodger. He's getting ready to go to the polls.

Yesterday was a good day, a battle won, in the long war defending freedom and each citizen's liberty against tyranny. The tyranny of Kings' "divine right" of the past and today's filthy socialist totaliterian scum. The next battle is in November. A bigger fight and the victory will be sweeter.

Re: "Democracy is dead".

Sorry Douchebag, we just kicked the GOVERNMENT GOOONIONS to the curb.
Suck on that chump.

what is wrong with them? they have to get actual jobs now.

The BULLSHIT PAYCHECK ACT allowed UNLIMITED LAWSUIT CLAIMS.
AKA the "Lily Ledbetter Trial Lawyer Contributions Guarantee Act".

From AJ Strata:
"Franklin Delano Roosevelt—who more than any other president set our country on a course away from the founding principles of limited government—knew that public sector unions would be the death of the social welfare state he worked so hard to create. Hence, he consistently opposed allowing government employees to unionize. Today, Greece sets the example of what happens when public sector unions gain the upper hand."
Go ahead, DuDa: tell us why government workers should have collective bargaining rights.

Another thought on the death threats and wishes for painful deaths:
Aren't these the people who (inaccurately) prattle on about karma?
Aren't they the ones who drive cars with "Hate Is Not A Family Value" bumper stickers?
If I *ever* hear another GD lefty whine about "hate filled Tea Party rhetoric", I will puke on his shoes.

"Rodger - nothing is gonna cross Walker's desk because there will be no legislative work until after November elections."
It prevents Walker from calling a special session to forcemeat his crap through the legislative grinder.
But he has legal issues which loom larger.

He can still call a session and get Democrats on record voting against popular measures. Might make for interesting GOP ads in November, no?
But he has legal issues which loom larger.
Too bad you guys blew your one chance at a recall then, huh?
