I assume black and Hispanic turnout and preference to hold at the 2008 levels which leaves white preference as the sole indicator.
Rick, I see black and Hispanic preference as the same or slightly down from 2008 but I think turnout could be substantially down. Youth turnout will be a huge drop. The thrill is gone.
DoT, am in the middle of a check ride with 2 other Navy folk.
The gal is doing the hammering, and after a brew or 2 of debrief at some Summit NJ pub, discover that her family, the Ned Needham clan and the Hannegan clan, have for generations now been friends of your clan. Much fun jabber about that.
Then my co-pilot, listening to all this, perked up to the first name Lloyd, who apparently was the commander of his overall outfit as a Captain back in 1994 or so up near the Oregon/Alaska operating area. I'm guessing Lloyd is a relation.
Anyway, was a fine Navy day in Jersey. No permission asked, only forgiveness requested as appropriate.
A coalition of African-American pastors is calling on blacks to boycott President Barack Obama and sign a petition demanding that the administration withdraw support for gay marriage.
The group, the 1,300-member Coalition of African-American Pastors, says it was snubbed by Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder when it demanded a meeting to discuss same-sex unions. The group had requested the meeting last month.
“By embracing gay marriage, President Obama is leading the country down an immoral path,” Rev. William Owens, president of the Memphis-based coalition, said on Friday, The Washington Examiner reports. “Some things are bigger than the next election.”
The pastors are angered with Obama’s recent endorsement of gay marriage. But the president has not suggested that he would back federal legislation permitting same-sex marriage.
The coalition supports African-American pastors who believe marriage should be between a man and a woman.
“The black church has always been the conscience of America, and today we are calling on black pastors and black Christians to withhold support from President Obama until he corrects course,” Owens said.

Hit, I plan to be in the mountains the last of Aug, first of Sept. Somewhere in WY, MT or Idaho..most likely somewhere in all of the above..
Sounds like Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. But, if you get further west, am sitting right now in NW MT, 20 miles from the ID border. Nice mountains also by Missoula and in Glacier. Too low here to see anything spectacular, but the view of the mountains is pretty good about 60 miles SW towards Missoula.

Heh. We lived in Denver from Jun 1996 to Jan 2002. I certainly don't view the Tetons as ugly -- but the town of Jackson I certainly do. Our joke over here in Idaho is that all the shlubs taking off from Jackson are viewing the back side of the Tetons. Over here in Idaho looking at them from the west is the front side.
I for some unknown reason wish to go to the very Northern part of Idaho..also have a secret desire to sneak into Canada and back into the US just to say I know I can do it..just like I have done it before..
I am making all of these plans and I don't know what the higher altitudes are going to do to my old body..I will give it the old try and see what happens..If I can hang in there I would like to go over the hump and hit the coast in Oregon. Look for some of those made in Japan toys that are awash on the beach..Don't know..
My experience with the Tetons is my Mother hitting a rock and putting a hole in the oil pan of our two week old car 15 ft. from the Summit and then getting to ride shotgun in the tow truck down the mountain. My Mother must have been in a really bad mood, because of that whole trip, I remember it very well except for the three days we ended up staying at some dude ranch while awaiting the new oil pan to arrive. It had to be shipped in from back East. "Saddle up" is bound to be a calvary order, so it's perfectly acceptable. The heat wave is supposed to end Monday, with good chances of rain all week and highs in the 80's, so your yard may not be totally dead when you return.
I had a few hours in Denver in 2008 flying to Durango. The mountains are so far up in the sky, they look like they're on another planet. I hadn't remembered that when skiing there in the 80's. Durango is merely hilly in comparison.
As a Wyoming native, I take exception to Bruce's comment. Most of us took a very wary view of any auto with a green license plate!! That being said, I spend my pre-retirement summers on Finley Point at the base of the Mission Mountains. Flathead Lake is spectacular and surrounded by both the Mission and the Swan Range. At the north point of the lake you an spot Glacier National Park (sigh...heaven)!
hit, I just smiled for the first time today because of your video. I loved riding along with you.
(I guess I'm the only one who finds it hard to believe the preezy doesn't have enough Obama Bucks to beat anyone under the sun. He's already everywhere online.)
Nitey-o.
I'm confused. Are "Major Allies" the ones who shoot us in the back whenever they get full up on the Religion of Peace, or are they the ones who soak up aid money and abscond to Dubai?
Whole country should be nuked from orbit, just to be sure.
Obama “Dog of Jews”…
Photos come from Quetta, PAK, the home of the Quetta Shura who runs the Taliban for southern AFG. We should wait until the end of fighting season when they all hole up there and then nuke Quetta too.
Alternately, we should inform them of their error and provide them with more accurate signs for their next demonstration saying, "Obama: Dog of Hollywood".
Romney may think it wise to put some money into NC, but if I'm 99% confident about anything, it's that we're a battleground in name only. Republicans swept the legislature last time around, and I personally think they put the same sex marriage amendment on the primary election ballot to bring out the black vote in May instead of November. Obama's flight from a NC speaking engagement as folks were literally going to the polls, and his evolutionary announcement the following frackin' day was like a slap in the face of the very constituency he worked so hard to get in 2008. Add in one Democratic train wreck after another, top it off with a Convention in Charlotte, whose popular former mayor is a shoe-in for the governor's mansion, and I'm not sure the final vote tally is even going to be close.
Once upon a time, AMERICA'S Foreign and even Domestic policy, was based on what was deemed to be in America's best interests, our security and our financial best interest.
Now, America's Policies are all designed to further LEFTIST/MARXIST/ALYNSKY and OBAMA ideologies.
And NOBODY notices.
What is OBVIOUS to me, is not even NOTICED by the MFM.
G.W.BUSH is a SAINT compared to Obama et al.
Our HOMELAND SECURITY Dear Leader and BIG SIS, has determined that those of US who do not support BIG BROTHER. Are a threat to................BIG BROTHER.
The people that OBAMA and the MARXIST LEFT have chosen to be cabinet members and CZARS, are RADICALS.
And Mitt John McRomney is AFRAID of ROCKING THE BOAT. Unless the GLOVES come off, and we WIN. The day or reckoning merely becomes more and more inevitable, and eventually far far more VIOLENT.
They don't really care, gus, like the late Ron Silver, said before his conversion, 'they're our planes, drones' now, Yes the seals got Bin Laden, but delivering Egypt to the MB, might as well be Mohammed Atta's final wish,
My drone will play violin in French. I've got the world on a string, how deep is the sea, the night has a thousand eyes, them there eyes, misty, shine, here's that rainy day, sweet rain, falling grace, pick yourself up, them there eyes.
=============
Just call it a drone strike....the left seems to be okay with drone strikes. The Haditha guys were hounded for civilian casualties, but nobody cares about civilian casualties anymore as long as they happen with a drone strike.
Well I continue to believe that if John Dillenger wanted a far more lucrative and quite legal form of robbery, he should have considered accreditation. I am far enough in now that I am reading the books the insiders have written on how to accomplish their cultural, political, and economic con of taxpayers and students.
All quite authorized by Congress and state legislatures. It truly has to be one of the greatest cons ever run. I mentioned that Princeton and Dartmouth are both livid over where they are being pushed. Plus Princeton estimates compliance paperwork costs at $1 million. And Arne has quietly empowered further.
And Doug Ross at Director Blue has my Friday post in the LUN up today.
The Californians may appreciate that it is CSU-Monterey Bay that is the model for the learning outcomes model bo, Arne and the accreditors want replicated all through higher ed. Ivies to state u's.
Basically like the federal bureaucracies, the rest of us just exist to fund the parasitical class living at our expense. Except this time it is the higher ed class. Especially admins.
And U of Phoenix is always at every table ready to sell whatever credential is mandated.
"but if I'm 99% confident about anything, it's that we're a battleground in name only"
JMH,
Yep. You were concerned because there is no trend. There has been no trend since the passage of BOzocare but there was a very definite trend from around 9/09-5/10. Obama lost the election in that period and a correct account of how he lost it would place responsibility with those who assumed BOzocare would gain in popularity (like Stimulus would ease unemployment).
The assumptions I made were very close to worst case (best case for BOzo) and are not predictions. My prediction is that black turnout will drop by at least 10% with preference dropping by a similar amount. Hispanic turnout will drop even more and Hispanic preference will be below 55%.
ABO-T1000 can continue as a lackluster mediocrity as a candidate, fulfilling every prediction I've made about him, and still win rather handily. Don't look for inspiration or leadership from him, the programmers were never tasked to develop a module incorporating those characteristics.
I'm delighted he doesn't come across in the same manner as his opponent. Two whining, sniveling nine year old pukes on stage would be too much too bear.
I have a couple of random thoughts about ACA-as-tax, and I wonder what other people think...
-- It's not that the ACA is a tax, but, in fact, it is a whole collection of taxes, as the Americans for Tax Reform list makes clear.
-- Each of those taxes has different effects on different people. Some will only be paid by high-income people. Some (many!) will only be paid by poor people.
-- I've come to believe over the last 10 days or so that Roberts is correct. The Court, by a 7-2 majority, removed the Fed's ability to drive the states into bankruptcy by forcing them to either expand their Medicaid spending or take away their federal Medicaid funding. Once that is gone, I think that it is true that all you've got left is a bunch of new taxes.
-- The taxes on people without HHS-approved insurance policies, and the taxes on their employers -- the so-called mandate -- are small change. As in every sleight-of-hand, the key is to watch the other hand. The key tax-hike here is the tax-law change which takes medical spending and imposes all sorts of new taxes upon it.
In the past, every new insurance-law tweak has been an incremental change. Even relatively big things like portability have resulted in insurance companies eliminating the policy features that the government doesn't want and selling policies that contain the features that the government does want. But I think that it is completely possible that HHS will lard up the "approved" policy structure with so much expensive stuff that it will be MORE expensive for companies and employees to buy the Approved Policy that to pay the premiums on very basic policies, AND pay the mandate/penalty/tax for not having (approved) insurance, AND pay BOTH the employer and employee social security tax and medicare tax on those premiums, AND pay state and federal income taxes on premiums. If that is true, the real tax money is not the piddling little "mandate" penalty. It's the social security, medicare, and income taxes on the insurance premiums. They have already done this for over-the-counter drugs by eliminating the ability to use MSA/HSA tax-sheltered money for them.
-- Important point to be demagogued. Ok, flogged mercilessly. Rich people don't pay social security taxes on marginal income. So Obamacare imposes a tax on the insurance premiums and healthcare spending of poor and middle class people while exempting rich people from the tax.
Janet, We have American servicemen who will spend most or all of their lives in prison because of actions against the enemy while the picker of the drone targets (we are assured one man controls that) will apparently sleep well and free.
I have no idea how many, but apparently there are many, many military investigators reviewing every shot fired in those war zones to see if they can find
any opportunity to punish American servicemembers.
Well I am not Rick Ballard but I will answer that one, sailor. Lackluster mediocrity beats spectacular incompetence and overwhelming arrogance, hands down.
Hide and watch my friend.
Take a hard look at GMax's post concerning the number of GOP legislator's elected in the '10 wipeout. Do you imagine the ranks of the victors to be filled with sterling visionaries capable of motivating the masses through captivating oratory? '10 was an ABD vote, '12 will be the year of ABO.
BTW - Nixon, Carter and GHW Bush were all lackluster mediocrities as candidates and they all got to spend at least four years working in the Oval Office.
WEll, Rick Ballard, thank you for reminding me re Nixon, Carter and GHW Bush. But, as I recall, these lackluster mediocrities were two voted out of office and one forced out of office.
' Taliban' Tim McGuirk, and a whole host of others, swallowed AQ's story on Haditha, whole cloth, and a whole host of people, who should have known better, like John Murtha,
echoed the charge,
I would echo Rick with the additional addendum, 12 will also be ABD as Obamacare has nationalized all of the state and district elections. If you want to be rid of Obamacare, you must vote out Democrats. Even rather dull low information voters will easily get that.
Obamacare is a bonanza for bureaucrats and government workers---there will be hundreds of thousands of government 'new hires' earning incomes derived from squeezing every last dollar from the poor and middle class. Medical care will be allotted to One Size Fits All and no one will be exempt from government control and manipulation. Many seniors and seriously ill patients will die needlessly, due to rationing of life-sustaining care, and doctors will leave their profession in droves, unable to compete with the nanny-state control center in Washington, DC. Foreign doctors will need to be imported to serve the millions of newly "insured", and as with all enterprises taken over by government usurpation, graft, corruption and mediocrity will become the norm.
The IRS will have gestapo-like powers to tyrannize and harass the citizenry if they don't comply.
What's not to like if you're a liberal-progressive?
Maybe it's the district I'm in, and the dreck that not only we get in the fishwrap, like so,
but the echo we get on TV and radio, that makes me think it's not as easy, the Nexus 6
was easy dismantling his competitors in the primary, but much more languid in this period.
Rick Ballard--I am a realist and not usually so much a pessimist. And, I cannot remember when I have gone through a box of kleenex except when I last had a cold which was about 5 years ago!
--Our joke over here in Idaho is that all the shlubs taking off from Jackson are viewing the back side of the Tetons. Over here in Idaho looking at them from the west is the front side.--
I never knew there was a bad view of le tetons.
What have I been doing wrong?
Reagan said, Never criticize another Republican. (Certainly not your presidential candidat on the public airways like the Krauthammers, Crystals, and Hayes do.)
I am not criticizing Romney--I just want him to step up and win!! I want him to destroy O like he destroyed the other Republican nominees in the primary.
I envy you guys. I've never been to any of those glorious mountains mentioned. Just flown over a few times. Mr. Porch gets to see them all the time along with all the other beauteous scenery in the country.
I agree with whomever posted yesterday that we need to see ads portraying the damage ALREADY done by the Obama progressives, and juxtapose that damage with how conservatism operates for the aspirations and earned success of the individual.
IOW, it's all about freedom and liberty with conservative values and guaranteed tyranny with the Obama-prog ideology.
Sara had a good link that decent Americans should be supporting along with the Catholics who oppose the Obama regime's destruction of every belief held dear.
"A coalition of African-American pastors is calling on blacks to boycott President Barack Obama"
All of those who oppose the Obama regime need to be aware, the last stand of Christianity will be the US election of 2012.
Not until they switch to LV screens and even then I don't expect to see the intensity factor given fair weight. Take a look at the timing of the generic split in '10.
It was glaringly apparent in Obama's approval ratings among whites (a clear sign of general discontent) by May '10 and was not reflected in the RCP garbage averages until July. I'd like to know the source of the dough for the Quinnipiac propaganda. The PPP (Progressive Propaganda Polling) funding is clear but I can't ever recall Quinnipiac putting out this much propaganda in the past. Who's paying for it?
Porch-I prefer the Canadian Rockies but Yellowstone is a great trip for kids the ages of yours. They really love the geysers and the bubbling mud and the buffalo herds.
When I went when I was 5 the bears still came up to cars. I know what hit is saying though as we went into Salt Lake, drove up through beautiful Idaho, and then end through West Yellowstone. Stayed at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel and hiked into the Yellowstone Canyon. Far more accessible with kids than the Grand but they get idea and falls.
Then out the southern route to Teton Village. We were caught on a peak by Jenny Lake the day the twister hit Salt Lake by the temple.
So much fun to show kids that beautiful topography.
I really wish some Romney surrogates who would respond to the left's demand that he disclose all his bank accounts with a demand for Obama to disclose his college grades, or his writing or the amount of taxpayer money he has spent on vacation.
If we're gonna wish, I'll take a True Value campaign based upon Governor Romney's proven ability to recognize a situation where incompetent management was incapable of realizing the potential return on available assets. I would pick the three most notable successes and hammer them until until even the dullest LIV recognized their names.
True Value - Incompetent Management - It's Time for a Turnaround
"The IRS will have gestapo-like powers to tyrannize and harass the citizenry if they don't comply."
I don't mind a little hyperbole, but much as I might sympathize with the underlying sentiment, I hate to see anything on the order of the Gestapo trivialized in political rhetoric -- it's like the ubiquitous charges of racism, which end up making it so much harder to call out the real racists who still exist.
Lest we forget, I decided it was worth refreshing my own memory at Wikipedia:
Normal methods of investigation included various forms of blackmail, threats and extortion to secure "confessions". Beyond that, sleep deprivation and various forms of harassment were used as investigative methods. Failing that, torture and planting evidence were common methods of resolving a case, especially if the case concerned someone Jewish.
Take a look at some of the Gestapo notables, many of whom moved up the Nazi ladder:
Klaus Barbie - the Butcher
Hermann Goring - the Gestapo's Founding Father
Reinhard Heydrich - Kristallnacht & concentration camps
Adolf Eichmann - just one of many Heydrich proteges
Heinrich Himmler - Exterminator in Chief
Ernst Kaltenbrunner - whom "even Himmler feared"
The IRS is given far too free a hand, but it ain't your Daddy's Gestapo.
"If we're gonna wish, I'll take a True Value campaign based upon Governor Romney's proven ability to recognize a situation where incompetent management was incapable of realizing the potential return on available assets."
Amen, here. Even Obama isn't trying to do inspirational any more.
The O's are skipping Martha's Vineyard this year -- but the most interesting part is that they apparently were planning a trip and then cancelled it. Even Obama must have figured out how hard it would be to contrast Romney's jet skis and expensive vacation digs with the Greyhound buses and humble HoJo's our Prez is used to.
Your children are very fortunate, hit. Good times.

The biggest problem P. Obama has is getting people to come out to vote..this will be the reason they are going to lose big time.
So should we have the delayed fireworks display on Nov 6 or wait until Jan 21..

I didn't even know we had a "Major Ally" status.
Then we should nuke them.

Posted by: sailor | July 08, 2012 at 08:54 AM

Posted by: GMax | July 08, 2012 at 09:38 AM

Jane,
If we're gonna wish, I'll take a True Value campaign based upon Governor Romney's proven ability to recognize a situation where incompetent management was incapable of realizing the potential return on available assets. I would pick the three most notable successes and hammer them until until even the dullest LIV recognized their names.
True Value - Incompetent Management - It's Time for a Turnaround
It's not terribly complicated.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | July 08, 2012 at 12:24 PM
"The IRS will have gestapo-like powers to tyrannize and harass the citizenry if they don't comply."
I don't mind a little hyperbole, but much as I might sympathize with the underlying sentiment, I hate to see anything on the order of the Gestapo trivialized in political rhetoric -- it's like the ubiquitous charges of racism, which end up making it so much harder to call out the real racists who still exist.
Lest we forget, I decided it was worth refreshing my own memory at Wikipedia:
Take a look at some of the Gestapo notables, many of whom moved up the Nazi ladder:
Klaus Barbie - the Butcher
Hermann Goring - the Gestapo's Founding Father
Reinhard Heydrich - Kristallnacht & concentration camps
Adolf Eichmann - just one of many Heydrich proteges
Heinrich Himmler - Exterminator in Chief
Ernst Kaltenbrunner - whom "even Himmler feared"
The IRS is given far too free a hand, but it ain't your Daddy's Gestapo.
