Enjoyed part 1 of your latest podcast but part 2 is a tad maddening because Dick is so dismissive.
It is difficult to hear a guy admit he didn't watch the Conventions, then criticize you for criticizing him for not knowing what he's talking about because he didn't watch the Conventions, by the disingenuous rejoinder of saying he has watched more Conventions over his lifetime than you so you can't criticize him for not watching the Conventions.
Dick to Jane: (Close to verbatim) "What do you care Jane for wherever Barack is getting 35 million to build a house in Hawaii? What business is that of yours?"
For my next trick Iwill somehow make this quote on topic.
"DNC Adds Constitutional Qualification Language Into Obama’s 2012 Certification of Nomination – Was Not There in 2008 in Most States By CDR Charles Kerchner (Ret)
They have obviously felt the heat from we constitutionalists about that missing language from the 2008 certificates. In my opinion, now that they have done so, they have opened themselves up for eventual possible charges of perjury and misprision of a felony this time around, when the truth about Obama’s true legal identity is revealed. And the truth will come out in time. It always does.
IMO, it looks like the Obama’s enablers and backers in the Marxist far left controlled DNC, and elsewhere, are going all-in with Obama and are willing to go down with the ship in order to get Obama re-elected and finish their Marxist/CPUSA/DSA long-term plans to totally undermine the U.S. Constitution and takeover from within the United States of America. See a copy of the 2012 DNC Certificate of Nomination for Obama and Biden submitted to NY at this link(AND BELOW): http://www.scribd.com/doc/105275519/2012-DNC-Certification-of-Nomination-of-Obama-Biden-From-Atty-Bauer-to-NYS-BOE
See the Kerchner et al v Obama & Congress et al lawsuit filed by Attorney Mario Apuzzo of NJ very early in the a.m. of 20 Jan 2009 where on page 19 we pointed out the lack of proper legal vetting of Obama by the DNC in 2008 and the DNC issuing two different versions of their 2008 Certificate of Nomination for Obama —only one known CoN (to Hawaii) saying Obama was constitutionally qualified for the office he seeks and for the other states the DNC omittted it: http://www.scribd.com/doc/19914488/Kerchner-v-Obama-Congress-DOC-00-Table-of-Contents-2nd-Amended-Complaint The 2008 absence of the constitutional language was a legal risk reduction tactic back then, imo. But it now appears, as I said, the DNC is going all-in with Obama, and will go down with the ship with Obama. They are in too deep with Obama and he has the goods on all of them if they tried to bail on him now and leave him alone on the sinking ship. The truth about Obama’s decades of criminal ID fraud and the DNC’s complicity in not properly vetting Obama in the face of numerous allegations and evidence of document fraud re. Obama’s ID docs and DNC’s willingness to abrogate Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution will come out some day. It always does. Then there will be hell to pay for what they have done.
[I]t’s a striking feature of the Age of Perfected Liberalism that modern liberals talk about sex 24/7 while simultaneously giving off the persistent whiff that the whole thing’s a bit of a chore.
"If anyone in Chicago or Springfield still denies that this state's sorry record of corruption and taxpayer debt is costing Illinois excellent jobs, take it from billionaire Nassef Sawiris.
The University of Chicago grad heads a global firm, Orascom Construction Industries, the biggest company in Egypt. He has set out to build a giant new plant to make fertilizer from natural gas in America's agricultural heartland.
Illinois and Iowa competed aggressively for the $1.4 billion project, which will create hundreds of precious, stable, good-paying jobs. Both states offered lavish incentives.
In the end, Illinois came up with the better package, according to Sawiris. Its tax code, tax rebates and the other breaks it offered were "financially superior" to the package proposed by Iowa, he said. Besides, Sawiris confided, he feels a sentimental attachment to Illinois, thanks to the education he received at Chicago.
Nevertheless, he chose Iowa for his investment, at a site just four miles from the Illinois border.
Why? Regular readers of this page already know the answer. Illinois is broke, with some $200 billion in debts and unfunded obligations. Any employer who locates here essentially volunteers to help pay for yesterday's excessive spending and reckless promises. What's more, many public officials have besmirched Illinois' reputation with their criminal activity. So convincing a shrewd and sophisticated multinational firm to invest long term in Illinois is a tough sell."

Les Mis is the only play I have ever seen that I cried through the entire thing. It may have been the company.
Even so, my favorite quote about Les Mis was the story of "the prayer" (I think that was the name of the song.) When they introduced the song in Boston in rehearsals and the lead sang it for the first time, all the people working on the production stopped, there was dead silence and a lot of people wept. When he finished someone said "Well it is called 'the prayer' and a cast remember replied: 'yeah but we didn't know God was going to sing it'.

I have seen, and not a small number of times, the ad with Bill Clinton telling me what a great guy Barry is here in the blue hell of California.
If Barry thinks he needs to spend money in CA then maybe thinking like a beloved fictional donkey character known for his pessimistic outlook on life is perhaps unwarranted.
If you want to be glum wait until after Mittens and Barry square off in the debates and Barry is declared the winner by KO in every round, even if he spends the whole time landing haymakers on his own glass jaw.
"President Obama and the Democrats in Charlotte did almost everything possible to advance their prospects in 2012 ... Democrats are galvanized by the best convention in modern history"
--stuff Bob Shrum said
Bob Shrum was the first person to call John Kerry "Mr. President" on election day in 2004. There is no known evidence to rebut the idea that he was also the only person to do so.
Bob Shrum has worked on as many winning presidential campaigns as the Chicago Cubs have won World Series titles since 1908.
Bob Shrum has as many wins in presidential elections as the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings have in the Super Bowl. Bob Shrum has as many losses as both teams combined.
Janet:
There you go, cheering me up again! you are one great person and I want to thank you again for all you do for the troops.
Thanks Jane for your great blogging! I can't stomach the lies any longer. Will Nov. 6th ever get here?
If Barry thinks he needs to spend money in CA then maybe thinking like a beloved fictional donkey character known for his pessimistic outlook on life is perhaps unwarranted.
I am having a hard time liking Barry's chances in the upcoming, due predominantly to the dismal fiscal situation illustrated by Jay Cost's graphic:
I'd expect a fairly dramatic swing when the undecideds finally decide.
However, that doesn't translate into optimism that the GOP led by Romney is going to make much of the opportunity afforded, or, for that matter, that Crowe and Jackman are capable of turning in a better performance than Rush and Neeson. Not sure if that is a glass half empty analysis, but it's the sunniest I can muster.
Hotmail shunted it to my junkmail folder.
Conspiracy?
Ignatz,
I've noticed that some emails that seem to have political connotations get "shunted" off to my junkmail or tagged as "spam", as well. Other email from politicians asking for support, however, get through.
I suppose the systems are set up to catch anything that seems to have a controversial Subject line. Although why they let through all of the carp that is obviously spam, escapes me.
--However, that doesn't translate into optimism that the GOP led by Romney is going to make much of the opportunity afforded...--
Exactly. The Euros are facing a much worse situation than we are yet and they're still in denial.
Like most things having to do with human institutions it will take a true calamity to alter things significantly.
As far as Crowe and Jackman, since I hardly ever watch a movie made in their lifetimes I feel unqualified to speak.
my takeaway from the Steyn editorial this morning.
"America owes more money than anybody has ever owed anyone in the history of the planet. But millions of Americans don’t see it, and millions of those who do see it don’t see it as a problem."
Ignatz: Hmmm, just got an email solicitation from Todd Akin.
Hotmail shunted it to my junkmail folder.
Weird. You made me go check my spam folder. Google did that to me too.
Dear Beloved one, Based on your profile i am happy to request for your assistance because i believe that you are not going to betray the trust which I am going to lay on you, Hope all is well with you and other members of your family. My name is Todd Akin from Missouri. Though I have not meet you before but i believe, one has to risk confiding in succeed sometimes in life. This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Missouri. The near death of my campaign actually brought sorrow to my life, my dear, I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards and your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.
Ever been sold on one thing, then at the last minute the salesman tries to give you something else?
That's exactly what's been happening with pro-life supporters across the nation, when it comes to the corrupt party bosses.
They sell you on one thing - supporting candidates that will protect the unborn. On taking back the Senate from pro-abortion liberals like Claire McCaskill. On going to bat for pro-life candidates like Todd Akin.
Then what happens when one of those candidates, like Todd Akin, actually dares to stand up for life?
The Party Bosses run for cover. They say, "We don't need to be talking about THAT," or "Abortion isn't a ‘winning’ issue."
My friends, there are some issues that transcend politics, and protecting the unborn is at the TOP OF THAT LIST!
For too long, the Party Bosses - the same ones that left Todd Akin for dead politicially -- have come to you hat in hand for your support. They ask for your money, your time, and your energy.
They raise money from pro-life supporters like you and me, but they then turn around and give it to people like Scott Brown, but not Todd Akin. Enough is enough!
Like Mike Huckabee said: "If they don't want us, then they don't need us.”
Mike and Janet Huckabee have donated the maximum to Todd Akin because they know that Todd won't just talk the talk, he will walk the walk.
Todd Akin doesn't shy away from what he believes in. He will STAND UP for life, regardless of the political consequences. Won't you consider helping Todd stand for life?
If you want a candidate who says "NO" to the corrupt Party Bosses and "YES" to life, support Todd Akin today!
Sincerely,
Todd
Paid for by Todd Akin for Senate
He didn't call me "dear".
Todd always liked hit best.:(
These changes are due to the magnificent, fantastic, overwhelming speech by the wonderful, beloved Bill Clinton which obviously clinched the election for Obama since everyone in the country adores him and will do whatever he directs them to do. (sarcasm)
Of course taxes do not influence behavior. From today's WSJ:
Bernard Arnault, France's richest man and chairman and chief executive of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, is seeking Belgian citizenship, a move that comes as President François Hollande prepares to press ahead with a controversial tax on the country's wealthiest citizens.
"Depp told the Guardian UK: "France wanted a piece of me. They wanted me to become a permanent resident. Permanent residency status – which changes everything. They just want… Dough. Money.""
I guess the whole 'rich people are evil & greedy' meme isn't so great when governments are coming after YOUR MONEY. Does this mean Depp hates the poor now? Is he a racist? I don't think so...but that's the usual accusation of the left.
Arnault may be fleeing more than mere taxes. He's a classic l'École polytechnique oligarch and recognizes that big fat rats need to be off the plague ship to avoid being eaten before it sinks.
“People have seen my college applications, my law school applications … “ Really? What people?
Warren wanting to change the subject "...but I think what matters most now in this election is what are we going to do for the families here in Massachusetts …." That is exactly what Sen.Durbin said when he tried to change the subject in that Baier interview about God & Jerusalem. Hah!
Don't answer the question...act outraged that anyone could think something bad about them....then change the subject.
We could make this DOOM week at JOM. I'll start by forecasting Gallup's weekly Presidential Approval ratings will show a tremendous surge on Monday to 47 from its current 44, the largest single week increase almost ever recorded.
It's time to draw a warm tub and open a large vein.
This isn't any good. All this suing business is out of control.
I'm not going to Drudge but I'd like to know what they think the theater should've done differently since iirc the psycho broke in illegally anyway. Not have midnight showings that they flocked to? Refuse to let people who show up with infants get in on the grounds that they're demonstrably horrible parents?
I'm trying to convince mrs hit and run that I shouldn't mow this afternoon using the Obama Rule for Outdoor Safety, what with the threat of thunderstorms this afternoon (I didn't mow last weekend because we were at the lake. our lawn is outta control with all the rain we've had).
She's not buying it.
That Obama is good for nothing. Abso-frickin-lutely nothing. A real president would have gotten me out of this.
"Private Investigator Susan Daniels Files Affidavit Seeking Criminal Prosecution For Obama's Connecticut Social Security Number
The judge has not yet ruled on my recent hearing but I filed an Affidavit (EMBEDDED BELOW) yesterday in Geauga County Common Pleas Court. I am asking the court to issue a complaint that Barack Obama has committed a crime and should be prosecuted for identity fraud. Section "D" of ORC 2935.09 allows me the right to file. ...
The court had never seen a filing like this before and to say they were upset would be an understatement. Two women kept insisting that nothing could be filed without a case number on it and I kept saying: read the statute. They were not happy and one woman said: "I've worked here twenty years and have never seen anything like this." Oh well, now she has.
All this suing business...
Janet,
Ordinarily, I'd agree with you. But in this case the theater posted as a No Guns zone. They should be made to pay for failing to enforce that commitment.
Ya know, Iggy, they kind of bear out the premise of "The Dark Knight" that I was talking about last night in that they're turning on others rather than the source of their loss.
So the Chicago School District is segregating their students by which gang they're in. That sounds like a brilliant solution.LUN.
They only thing they're interested in is spray painting class, rudimentary math, and the international weights and measures system.

I'm in a real quandry: Katie Couric's school of the empty trophy case is playing the child abuse enablers. Help me out here on figuring out why I shouldn't cheer for the stadium to explode.
Just spent a few hours browsing thru 2 bookstores on the Nicolette Mall in downtown Minneapolis.
The Barnes and Noble (or Border's) whichever it was, had a window full of copies of the new Navy Seal memoir, "No Easy Day." I asked the store clerk how it was selling, and he said they sold the entire number of their first order immediately upon receipt as all had been pre-reserved by customers, and now they received a second batch which is what I saw in the window and he said it is still selling like crazy.
Don't know what can be taken from that, but I thought it interesting that in "Blue" Minneapolis so many folks would be buying a book that in reports tends to undercut parts of the Administration's version of events.
--Ya know, Iggy, they kind of bear out the premise of "The Dark Knight" that I was talking about last night in that they're turning on others rather than the source of their loss.--
CH,
I can guarantee the very first thing any lawyer they contacted did was to determine who, among any possible defendants, would have insurance policies.
I can't blame em much. The insurance company will almost undoubtedly cut checks rather than fight it so what else can you expect of people?
The system stinks but I'm not sure what the fix is. Dueling? What couldn't be solved by duel? :)
Polls for the poll watchers. Found this at HotAir (my bold):
Romney leads Obama 49-46 in an American Research Group Poll of 1200 Likely Voters – with a D+4 sample – conducted September 4-6. And leads by 5 among Independent voters.
--If a pimp be pimpin' 6 ho's and it's Friday night on Clark Street and there's a convention in town, how many bags of blow can Shabazz Malik sell in one hour?

Republican or Dem?
You'll need more ho's if the former.
Shabazz will be a delegate and keynoter if the latter. Theme of his keynote? "You didn't blow that." Take your choice on which he means.
Janet-when medical bills are high suing is the easy way to shift the cost. Also costs of rehab and aftercare. That drives a tremendous number of suits where there is not even a viable negligence issue.
Daddy, there will be another time. I'm two miles south of I-494 from the first exit on the east side of the Mississippi River, just across from the airport. And if you keep spelling Nicollet the way you just did, you might get lynched. We are very picky about the spelling of that name, whose pronunciation we butcher as badly as South Dakota does the French name of their state capital.
"49/45 in gallup toay for Obama. He gained one from yesterday, Romney held." Chris Robin.
Now We Are Six
Author: A.A. Milne
When it was one,
It had just begun.
When it was two,
I cried "Boo Hoo".
When it was three,
I was hardly me.
When it was four,
I passed out on the floor.
If it hits five,
I'll be hardly alive.
And if it hits six,
I'll be an Eeyore forever.
So please don't hit six
now or forever.
I don't usually nitpick spelling but just wanted to point out that it's Nicollet Mall, named after Nicollet Avenue, named after the French explorer Joseph Nicollet who mapped the Mississippi from St. Paul to the headwaters in Itasca, and who made many other major expeditions in the region.
It's also where Mary Tyler Moore famously tossed her hat in the air, of course.
Local pronunciation is "NICK-let."
Great news that the SEAL book is selling well there...
"Bankrupt solar panel maker Solyndra said Friday it could get $23 million in additional tax breaks...a bankruptcy judge said on Friday that Solyndra’s creditors could vote on the bankruptcy plan with the additional tax breaks. A final decision would come Oct. 17 -- just weeks before the Nov. 6 election."
Jim, the National Forest named for the explorer is indeed spelled Nicolet. Go figure. I think that we should go to war over the spelling, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and when WE won, we would take back Isle Royale from Michigan. It's far closer to Minnesota's Lake Superior shoreline than Michigan's.
An very old local history book I was earlier examining in the interesting Used Book Store on Nicolett/Nicolet Mall spelled Nebraska "Nebrathka", from the old Indian word meaning "broad water" or "flat river". Go figger.
Aha, yes, the national forest was named for the earlier explorer. OUR fellow was a century or two later, a cartographer and explorer. And French records of both men have both spellings. I guess we'll have to call off the Great Lakes Border War, and, sniff, sob, leave Isle Royale in the hands of the Michiganders.
Primero?

Bump? That's a six point gain in the two days following Obama's indoor speech.
Raz must be corrupt.
But then again, Obama was at minus 13 last Friday, so he's back where he started Labor Day Weekend.
But then again, again, the minus 13 on Aug 31 was Strong Approve 26 vs 30 today, Strong Disapprove 39 vs 43 today.
Conclusion: The Democratic Convention succeeded in further polarizing the country.

Some of the best news Republicans could hope for:

Ignatz,
I've noticed that some emails that seem to have political connotations get "shunted" off to my junkmail or tagged as "spam", as well.

I guess the whole 'rich people are evil & greedy' meme isn't so great when governments are coming after YOUR MONEY. Does this mean Depp hates the poor now? Is he a racist? I don't think so...but that's the usual accusation of the left.

Susan Daniels"

I can guarantee the very first thing any lawyer they contacted did was to determine who, among any possible defendants, would have insurance policies.
I can't blame em much. The insurance company will almost undoubtedly cut checks rather than fight it so what else can you expect of people?

Daddy, there will be another time. I'm two miles south of I-494 from the first exit on the east side of the Mississippi River, just across from the airport. And if you keep spelling Nicollet the way you just did, you might get lynched. We are very picky about the spelling of that name, whose pronunciation we butcher as badly as South Dakota does the French name of their state capital.

Nicolette Mall
I don't usually nitpick spelling but just wanted to point out that it's Nicollet Mall, named after Nicollet Avenue, named after the French explorer Joseph Nicollet who mapped the Mississippi from St. Paul to the headwaters in Itasca, and who made many other major expeditions in the region.
It's also where Mary Tyler Moore famously tossed her hat in the air, of course.
Local pronunciation is "NICK-let."
Great news that the SEAL book is selling well there...

Posted by: Mark Folkestad | September 08, 2012 at 02:47 PM
Ah, the MI/WI Nicolet was French explorer Jean.
Posted by: Jim,MtnView,Ca,USA | September 08, 2012 at 02:48 PM
An very old local history book I was earlier examining in the interesting Used Book Store on Nicolett/Nicolet Mall spelled Nebraska "Nebrathka", from the old Indian word meaning "broad water" or "flat river". Go figger.
Posted by: daddy | September 08, 2012 at 02:53 PM
Aha, yes, the national forest was named for the earlier explorer. OUR fellow was a century or two later, a cartographer and explorer. And French records of both men have both spellings. I guess we'll have to call off the Great Lakes Border War, and, sniff, sob, leave Isle Royale in the hands of the Michiganders.
