Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Really...now no jokin'...but if we don't defeat Obama & his administration this guy will probably be hired for the "Let's Move" indoctrination in our schools. He's green, he's movin', & he likes drugs. Perfect.

hit and run

Janet:
Here is Biden lip kissing

I am very uncomfortable with what Biden is trying to do with his right hand.

I hope she was able to successfully fend him off.

Charlie (Colorado)

By the way, Sarah Hoyt has a useful rant up on Tatler: http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2012/09/09/spreading-fear-and-despondency/

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Hahahahaa...I hadn't even noticed THAT! I'll add that woman to my prayer list.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Obama's Dept. of Education...ready for a second term.

hit and run

Mitt Romney ad airing during Panthers game here in NC.

Extraneus

Have any of our lawyers have mentioned this?

Judge: Family’s $80 Million Gold Coin Collection Belongs to Uncle Sam

The Langbords unsuccessfully sued the government in 2011, alleging that the coins are rightfully theirs, and now they have lost the appeal.

Jacqueline Romero, assistant U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, explained that the coins legally belonged to the government after Franklin Delano Roosevelt ordered citizens to exchange their gold for cash in an effort to keep the banks afloat during the Great Depression.

“Those coins were all in a vault and were supposed to be melted,” she asserted.

This is America after FDR. What's next?

Jim Eagle

Before the start of all the games on Fox today, the Romney ad ran right before kick-off. Good move and maximum attention. Who the hell runs to the fridge right before kickoff?

Jim Eagle

Its obvious that the Packers got the short end of the replacement refs. Some really obvious calls that were no calls.

Not that it would help the Pack much since the 9'ers are "en fuego" in Green Bay.

henry

Yup JiB, you don't win 15 two years in a row with no defense.

Jim Eagle

henry,

Except this game. No D and no O and at home on top of it.

henry

Da Bears gotta be happy right now.

NJ Jan

Any thoughts on German Court meeting this Wednesday?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/sep/09/german-judges-to-rule-on-euro-fate

Jim Eagle

I love it when the Harbaugh boys get upset. As if everything they do is perfect and nothing can go wrong. Priceless. Finally, a call goes the Pack's way.

henry

OK, now GB can't blame the refs. Still no O no D.

Frau Weltuntergang

Charlie, have I told you lately that I heart you? The Sarah Hoyt article is a super kick in the shins for our own Doomers.

The End is Nye

Extraneus

No comment on the 48 points the Jets scored today? (Tebow was a non-factor, this time.)

Frau Weltuntergang

Good question NJ Jan. Another question at your link is "Will Germans be consigned to serdom to save the Eurozone?"

In the 18th century, the Landgrave of Hesse sold thousands of men into military service for the British crown. Today Germany's political establishment seems committed to consigning German taxpayers to economic serfdom and stagflation for at least a generation – not for gold, to be fair, but for the euro, to assuage the markets and to appease international opinion. The issue is: will the German constitutional court take itself and the German voter seriously? Law, one had better remind oneself, is the continuation of politics by other means.
Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Our military - if Obama gets a second term.

Jim Eagle

Rodgers, Rodgers. How could you? Break of the game down the tubes and not a 9'er TD. The Pack looks very ordinary.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Government Motors.

Janet, it's an army of one!

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

A new Dept. of Thing-a-ma-jigs.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

I messed up the Government Motors one.
Here it is ....Government Motors.

Looks like Napolitano is in charge there now.

Jane - It's gonna be a Tsunami in November

The seal is about to come on 60 minutes

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Yeah, Frau. Hah!

Frau Weltuntergang

We've already had four. How many Summers of Recovery will it take to do in the country?

Janet, your 7:26 is the new czar of the Cornucopia Institute:

"Corporations owning some of the nation's most popular organic brands (Horizon, Silk, Kashi, Cascadian Farms, R.W. Knudsen's, etc.) have joined Monsanto and the biotechnology industry in fighting California citizen initiative, Proposition 37, that will mandate GMO labeling . And if we win in California, companies will then likely be forced to label GMOs nationwide.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

New sexual minorities will appear....LGBT,CL*

Frau Weltuntergang

As Dave Barry says, "I am not making this up."

.The Cornucopia Institute is a non-profit organization headquartered in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, with the mission of "Seeking economic justice for the family-scale farming community."

NJ Jan

Frau,
it sounds like the German citizens are non too thrillled about the prospect of serfdom although the die may be cast. It will be interesting to see if Merkel 's government survives and if Draghi was tipped off before the decision on Wednesday.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

Now we will pause for a look at John F'n Kerry's grandmother. The Mighty Chin Kerry Family.

Frau Weltuntergang

NJ Jan. No, the Germans I know are not. They really bought into and gave the most to the idea of the EU. At present, many unelected bureaucrats are making decisions with no oversight.
Couldn't happen here...oh, wait.

Frau Kappes

Janet, why do I feel compelled to remark on the photos you have unearthed?

Your cabbage lovers entry shows the origin of the French expression of affection:
"Ma petite chou-fleur!"

Jim Eagle

henry,

If GB can't rush the ball except for the pultry 27 yards that Rodgers gave them then they are in big trouble this year.

BTW, Frau, the Germans made a big deal out of the EU because of a need for Euro Acceptance and a mea culpa for past sins. That and the idea they could control the market if allowed a way to dominate the currency. What they didn't figure on was their previously weak military opponents were also economically weak and would do more on that level then they did at the borders.

Manuel Transmission

LUN is an article on some guy named HaveBlue who is making guns on his home printer. Is this 'our' HaveBlue?

Now if we can make ammo that way...

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

why do I feel compelled to remark on the photos you have unearthed?

Pourquoi, my little cabbage flower, pourquoi? I do not know.... :)

Ignatz

--LUN is an article on some guy named HaveBlue--

Wait a minute. Some Guy is actually Have Blue? Now I'm really confused.

Rob Crawford
No hit, I'm not a leather wearing biker chick.

Oh, biker.

MarkO

While I don't for a minute believe that the polls of September portend anything in November (whoa, Gordon Lightfoot), but I do wonder how much of the difference is endemic and why, considering everything we all know and affirm here, Mitt trails.

I don't have any evidence the polls are rigged. It might be the Bradley effect. It could be many things. I don't feel comfortable relying on the fact that someone else came from behind to win. Sometimes, they don't.

I still think Mitt will win, but that belief doesn't keep me from wondering aloud why he's currently behind and how Obama could get a bounce.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

I've tried something like HaveBlue...but have been less successful.

It was hard to see the target. :(

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

I think the Hoyt PJM Tatler article Charlie linked above expresses my attitude about the situation we are faced with today about as well as it can be expressed.

Clarice

We haven't discussed this, but nothing so easily demonstrates how feckless the administration's foreign policy is that the case of US _Cuban hostage Allen Gross.http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443324404577594870481241852.html

Narciso

Bissonnette comes off well I think, does Dod really want to go after him, rhetorical question

Ignatz

--and why, considering everything we all know and affirm here, Mitt trails--

I don't know that. Rick and Gmax and others have made a pretty compelling case that the Adult/RV/LV split and the methods by which party splits and voter enthusiasm will eventuate are extremely suspect and have been proven quite flawed in the past.
Were I to guess, and that's all anyone is doing, I'd say Mitt is ahead.

Narciso

It's a real travesty, clarice, specially with the fact that they offered a visa to Vidal, who was so vicious toward gross

Ignatz

--It was hard to see the target. :(--

Nobody else was looking at the target either. :)

jimmyk

Were I to guess, and that's all anyone is doing, I'd say Mitt is ahead.

I'm not even sure the question is meaningful. It's not a track race where you can measure who is where. It's like saying who is ahead in the World Series. The only measure is on November 6th. All we can do is try to predict, and it's been repeatedly demonstrated that current polls add little or no information. The 2010 election, the over 8 percent unemployment rate, and Obama's low popularity numbers over the last year are more informative than all the polls combined.

Jim Eagle

narciso.

Bissonnette is being shunned by his own. What's that tell you?

Clarice

narciso, he was there for USAID for heaven's sake. What a damn outrage.

Jim Eagle

BTW, like the Convention ratings, lets see the ratings for the debates and the polling after. Obama has to defend and Romney only needs to ask "are you better off and if not why"?

The MFM will do their best to navigate the narrative to Obama but Romney and his campaign know that and if they don't then its all over. But I believe they do and are prepared for this. I hope we have a Dukakis "what if Kitty was raped" moment where the charlatan in chief is stumped and makes a forced error. Somehow during this campaign, Obama must be revealed to be the no nothing fake he really is and Biden to be his understudy of those attributes.

Narciso

The willingness to lie, even about small things, like bin laden's final moments, as we see in NED, permeates everything in the szysgy that is the media and the Administration

Jane - It's gonna be a Tsunami in November

The Mighty Chin Kerry Family.

Amazing hair-do.

Narciso

I think it's misplaced, jib, now Donilon needs to be so fired, fhat it's not even funny. I am wondering about Patton Boggs role in this though.

About gross, they want those nazgul Avispa agents, who actually targeted us citizens

Clarice

Looks like that woman had some hormonal problems.

Rick Ballard

jimmyk,

I agree with a slight modification:

The 2010 election, the over 8 percent unemployment rate, Obama's low popularity approval numbers over the last year and the very definite shift in Partisan ID are more informative than all the polls combined."

I would note the Romney campaign is working a very low key, middle of the road strategy and that ad buys in the first week are indicative of tuning ads based upon initial response before blitzing the marginal swing states. The D9 powered ABO-T1000 will not shift into the high range until the first week in October.

Clarice

szysgy is really a word..Damn..I never saw that one before.

MAM

I think Mitt was great on tv this morning. He is a cool cucumber and this bodes well for the debates. He did not stray off message and I think Ann Romney is a huge asset. Maybe, just maybe, the dem's campaign is really not ahead and their pimps in the media are just trying to psyche us all out. Already Obama's JA dropped two points (52 - 50) in Gallup and Mitt gained a point back since the incredible "bounce" from the dem convention. Weekends are always better polls for the dems. Let's see how the RR ads work in the swing states and stay focused on doing what we can in our own localities.

Jim Eagle

Clarice,

I believe narciso used it in the Jungian sense of a "team of opposites" not the astronomical or mathematical sense.

P. S. I use it all the time when trying to one-up Mrs. JiB when she uses Antwerpian irregular verbs on me:)

GMax

One more modification to Rick, add in the Wisconsin recall on top of the 2010 election.

All of that drives you to a Jay Cost conclusion, an incumbent at 47% a couple days after the convention is in very serious tapioca, even if the media does not know it or say it.

Ignatz

Rick,
When you really want to move stuff you put it in low. High [3 mph?] is generally for getting from one spot to another and for knocking your fillings out when you run over an unseen rock.

Please excuse my pedantry, RB, but I have to jump in when one of those few subjects comes up in which I have more than minimal knowledge.

Jim Eagle

narciso,

Of course they had to bring in Patton, Boggs to damping the damage as much as protect the loose lips. Donilon is no match for Tommy and the Eisenstadt faction. There could be a AIPAC confluence here.

DrJ

an incumbent at 47% a couple days after the convention is in very serious tapioca

True, but this is a straight national popularity poll. The electoral college is a different matter, and Romney has a ways to go to get the numbers to work. I'm not saying it won't happen, but national polls are worthless.

GMax

I have a buddy who reverse engineered the Gallup polling. He said the biggest spikes were Michelle's speech and then Bubba's. Both in the mid 50s. He says due to the 7 day average that it will be about a week for those two days which are aberrant to drop off. But he also says based on today drop that today had to be a 47% day. And if tomorrow and the next are equal days, the average drops to 47% before the roll off.

He is quite good on this. In other words, relax. Zero was not the bump, it was his wife and nostalgia for Bubba. That is really not in Zero's best interest. Bubba was a triangulator, Zero does not compromise.

MarkO

Thanks, GMax, that's useful.

Clarice

Did you know that Democrats like the blacks? And the Hispanics? And the gays? And women? We didn’t know that. Now we do.

Did you know the Democrats have a plan to make the next four years better than the last four? Really? We didn’t. And after watching their convention, we still don’t.

All we know after watching it is that we all need to go forward together. ALL of us. Together. United. As one. No dissent. And no cutting in line. Forward. Together. MOVE it!

GMax

Romney has a ways to go to get the numbers to work.

Not sure I can agree with that either. Got any states that are not blue hells where the polls show Zero at 51%? How about even 49%? If you are undecided, you are deciding between staying home or actually voting for the challenger. You rarely pull the lever for the incumbent.

mockmook

Peyton Manning engineers as many points in the first quarter as Tebow did for the Jets.

Captain Hate

RG3 may force me to overcome all the loathing I have for Goodell and his crew of toadies and imbeciles. I'm very torn on this.

Clarice

I believe DoS hired Wms and Conolly to represent Gross in the trial. And I further believe they represented the US in the Elian matter.

Narciso

Well I was using it as a seemless merger between two entities. The thing foggy bottom doesn't understand, is that's not personal it's business. Much like the late al megrahi, they don't give up their operatives, whereas we give up anyone foolish to trust us. Or maybe they do know. I don't know what's worse

Danube of Thought

Friday night I had a long talk with a buddy of 55 years whose final job before retirement was C.O. of SEAL Team One. He is not at all happy with this guy Bissonette.

More later.

Janet - Why does Johnny Depp hate the poor? pourquoi?

All new medicines from Obamacare if Obama gets a second term.

Narciso

No , they represented the cuban govt. De jure by representing the father, it was a matter of rendering state property, to it's useful owner

MarkO

I hope all the teams turn on Godell and make him sign with the refs. This is a disaster without the real refs.

Clarice

Ah, yes, narciso. Doesn't that make it even odder that DoS picked that firm to represent it (in its defense of Gross) against Cuba.

Narciso

Proper owner, that alone not to mention his representation of the mevs clan, should have foreclosed any further employment

Narciso

The fact that goodell is gainfully employed. Is proof that the Peter principle is 'primes enter pares' or blackmail. Pick one.

Ralph L

Bissonnette comes off well I think
He didn't try to buffalo you?

Is Antwerp Phlegm or Balloon?

Narciso

Kahn, previously has represented the Israeli govt during the pollard case, and the Rabin family after the assassination, that's why his counsel has been a little odd, in this matter.

DoT -
Somewhat off-topic, but something that you might be able to frame in context for me, please. Have just received an email, it is actually multiple emails/comments which have been appended and forwarded multiple times. The gist is:
--recent USNA Class (2012?) of 1000, the bottom 300 were dismissed after graduation with no financial repayment requirement.
--class enrolment, typically 1200 a year has been reduced to 1000 entry per year, with more cuts expected.
--NROTC and OCS accessions are also, similarly being cut
--also, there seems to be grumbling that those cut are at the bottom of the class, rather than cut by race/ethnicity. The implication of cutting the lowest 300 means that a greater proportion of minorities will be lost to the fleet. (i.e. the Navy not reflecting the composition of America... as per CNO direction. Now on this last point, it seems to me if true, it would occur for at the most only four years. As well, my personal preference is for promotion based upon superior performance & merit, rather than ethnicity, but I know official policy is to promote to quota.)

The items above were highlighted as examples of the severe defense cuts taking hold, the lack of a sufficiently-sized Navy (I understand there are now more Admirals than ships), and symptomatic of the crumbling across the services.

Can you confirm/deny, place in context, add color commentary? Anything?

Thanks in advance.

And here I hoped you were using it in the sense of a syzygy in a homological group.

Greetings from scenic Buffalo, WY. We stopped at Wall Drug this morning and grabbed a couple of donuts, then headed out for church in Rapid City. After that, we went over to Mount Rushmore where -- imagine my surprise! -- there are still only *four* presidential heads.

Good thing there's a directive or statute or whatever that Rushmore shall forever stay as it is without addition. Otherwise the dopes who voted Obama in would no doubt be trying to get his likeness added so that they could gaze in worshipful adoration upon the object of their idolatry.

Went to the Bozeman Trail Steakhouse in Buffalo for dinner. Mrs. PD flirted with the idea of ordering elk medallions for ultimately got cold feet. Question for all y'all who are experienced in this regard: Should she have taken the plunge?

DrJ

WSJ:

With two months to Election Day, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney faces the disconcerting reality that he isn't winning most of the states he would need to beat President Barack Obama.

Mitt Romney addresses the audience at a rally with the GOP team at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Va., on Saturday.

Florida and Virginia remain neck and neck, while the Obama campaign's fortunes in Ohio, where Vice President Joe Biden spent the weekend, appear to be improving.

Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney by small margins in seven of the eight battleground states, all but North Carolina, according to averages of public polls compiled by RealClearPolitics. All are within the margins of error. Most of the polls don't include reactions to the Democratic convention and Friday's dismal jobs report.

This pattern is by no means set, and the Romney campaign is banking that voters' disillusion with the economy will win out in the end. In past elections, however, where candidates stand in mid-September can be a good indicator of the final result. That means Mr. Romney has little time to alter a race that for months has been essentially static.

Clarice

I like elk very much, but then I like most game.

Prep and sauce are the keys to elk.

And black pepper. The elk eat some sagebrush out there and it "seasons" things a bit above average.

Still worth the plunge, in my eyes, but I'll eat just about anything, so long as it doesn't have a hubcap sticking out of it.

Except peas and Brussels Sprouts.

Never, ever those two.

daddy

Just in from a great dog walk so haven't read a word all day, but the drive home news mentioned this idiotic story, which you guys may not have seen yet:

Discovery of rare spider shuts down major San Antonio highway project

"...the eyeless spider that has been on the federal endangered species list since 2000...has stopped the 15-million dollar underpass project at that very busy intersection that was set to open by next summer."

Somehow, somewhere, someway, we are going to have to deal with such total stupidity.

Narciso

Now the journal is really allowing itself to be 'fishwrapped' by giving credence to rcp, not to mention the foul gumbo of the NBC poll. Of course, this is still not reassuring, as the same foolishness is still given Much too credence.

We could undo the scientific illiteracy of the drafters of the Endangered Species Act by specifying what level of species we're talking about-and eliminating darters, insects, odd speckled rodents and cross eyed trout from coverage..

DrJ - Was at the Romney Rally at the Military Aviation Museum yesterday, had a small report in the previous thread at 1716. The crowd was enthusiastic, to put it mildly. More, the atmospherics around here are MUCH different than the 2008 campaign. McCain was a fav becasue of the strong Navy influence and the Sarah rocked the house. But, the O worship was tremendous, simply tremendous. The Virginia Beach Convention Center was booked for one of his campaign stops in 2008, and the over-flow crowd made the area chaos. Now, the 0 campaign is booking local high-school auditoriums in schools in deep minority populated areas and has not filled them.

I have been canvassing for RR, Allen (Senate) and Rigell (House CD2). 500 doors so far. We are targeting the areas that the numbers from 2008 and 2010 indicate may be on the fence or would lean toward the Dems. In my dor-to-door experience these localities in the Virginia Beach area (the largest city geographically in the Commonwealth), are running between 55 and 70%. This amount of positive response to RR, Allen & Rigell is significant--well beyond the "noise" I am told by smart folks in the local campaign HQ.

What I do not get in these latest polls, is, what happened to the 55-65% of the people who have (and still to the best of my knowledge) consistently said they HATE obamacare and want it repealed? What are we to believe? That they have suddenly changed their mind? That they think if they vote for 0, that he will end it and replace it?

Come'on. Its all smoke and mirrors. The poolsters are feeding us a carp sandwich. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I'll not be fooled by this communist and his machine.
