Well then Barry is definitely your man Steve.
By the end of his second term we'll be swimming the Rio Grande to pick tomatoes in Mexico.
Did you really say something that stupid? Would you like to revise and extend your remarks?
UN Amb. Susan Rice is on all the Sunday shows with the claim that the Libya attack was spontaneous, not premeditated or coordinated. Looks like the WH is in "depends on the meaning of is" mode, arguing semantics and ignoring facts.
"... Well then Barry is definitely your man Steve.

You are not responding to my point. I am all for growing the economy the way Romney would likely do it. But if we do not address immigration first the result will be millions more immigrants, less open space, more dependency on diminishing oil and gas deposits.
"Rice tells "Fox News Sunday" that protesters gathering near the consulate were joined by others with extremist ties. She says they brought heavy weapons possibly left over from the Libyan revolution last year."
"... Yeah, Steve, let's let the evil in the ME fester.
Worked so well for Neville. ..."
Why do we have to be involved in Afg, Pak, Egypt, Libya, Israel, Palestine at all? We could simply follow the lead and support what Europe does. You all are going to lose this election because your FP is one that pushes the US into foreign wars.
"... Make your case for whom you'd like to be elected president. ..."
Not sure. I an more tea party than anything else. Keep the focus on domestic issues. Minimize FP entanglements. Find myself agreeing with a lot that is written on Taki's magazine http://takimag.com/#axzz26XneBY9R
"But if we do not address immigration"
The Dems had illegals speaking at their convention. Obama will legalize them via executive order. Shall we vote third party?
Contrary to your immigration point, the lackluster has reversed the illegal immigrant flow quite dramatically. I state that as fact not conjecture. Whole multi-generational families have returned to their Central and South American homes, except for the Ecuadorians and the Venezualans.
So, once again, you've bitten on the MFM-baited hook.
"... What would it take to give you reason to vote against Obama? ..."
a candidate that thought controling or halting immigration was a good idea. Someone who thought it important to limit imports from China.
Obama is a disaster. But in a way, by harming the economy the way he is doing, immigration into the US has slowed. And maybe China imports have slowed.
I heard about the attack and the loss of life, but not about the loss of aircraft:
The Taliban's weekend assault on a major coalition base was one of the most determined and effective ever seen in Afghanistan, according to details released Sunday, destroying six U.S. combat jets and damaging two others.
In addition to the Taliban strike, which killed two U.S. Marines Friday night, two separate insider attacks by Afghan service members claimed the lives of six coalition troops. A lethal coalition airstrike, meanwhile, threatened to raise additional tensions in the country, amid reports of civilian casualties.
Late Friday night, insurgents disguised in U.S. Army uniforms staged an audacious raid on Camp Bastion/Camp Leatherneck, a massive complex in southern Helmand province that serves as the main base for U.S. Marines and British forces.
The well-coordinated attack destroyed six Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier jump-jets, the largest single loss of U.S. combat aircraft since the war began. It also "significantly" damaged two others, and destroyed three refueling stations, the coalition said. Harrier jets cost an inflation-adjusted $30 million to $40 million apiece when they were acquired in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Not for a minute to I think Susan Rice or the ABC folks really believe these riots are the result of a video. But, to say anything else is to indict Obama. With the revelation that "foreigners" were involved will come the impeachment of this argument.
This is not hearsay. It is not offered for the truth.
More stupid stuff?
Your point was explicitly made when you said a good case could be made for not voting for Romney, the result of which of course will be a second Obama term.
One of the reasons you gave was that Romney would grow the economy which would result in more immigration. You didn't even specify illegal immigration.
My reply was precisely on point. If we follow your point to its logical conclusion our economy will be smashed and we will still have done nothing about illegal immigration.
Your point remains stupid.

In Mann's the Obamaians, there is an anecdote that Rice is talking with McFaul, who is the Administration's current person on the 'reset', and he was all set to go for Edwards, and she talks him into working for Obama, clueless in the extreme.
Not surprising, since much of his staff, including Rhodes, is drawn from Hamilton, who was wrong about the key question in Central America, and urged much the same
agenda in the Middle East
"... Contrary to your immigration point, the lackluster has reversed the illegal immigrant flow quite dramatically. I state that as fact not conjecture. Whole multi-generational families have returned to their Central and South American homes, except for the Ecuadorians and the Venezualans. ..."
I think this is making my point. We elect Romney and we get a strong, growing economy. Which results in a flood of immigrants into the country. Which makes the country less cohesive socially, more of something I want nothing to do with.
So, you claim "I an more tea party than anything else." But you seem to be okay with the JEF even though he "is a disaster" because "by harming the economy the way he is doing, immigration into the US has slowed."
So, do I understand you are a single-issue voter and that illegal immigration trumps all, and for that reason, you encourage republicans to not vote for Mr Romney, and by implication give the JEF a second term?
According to one of the Libyan security guards who was stationed at one of the gates armed with only a radio, the assault began simultaneously from three directions.
Heavy machine guns and rocket -propelled grenades were used, according to the guard. He said masked men threatened to kill him at gunpoint for 'protecting the infidels.
Yes, that sounds very spontanious... What scares me most is that they "brain trust" at State and the White House actually believe it is about the video. They simply can't imagine that their policy is a failure.
"The insurgents, organized into three teams, penetrated at one point of the perimeter fence," said a coalition statement released Sunday. "The insurgents appeared to be well equipped, trained and rehearsed."
According to the coalition, 14 insurgents were killed. The lone surviving insurgent, wounded in the assault, was taken into custody.
The Taliban were quick to seize on the propaganda value of the attack, releasing photos and video of the attack on Saturday. In a statement Saturday, the insurgents said the strike was "part of revenge campaign" in response to the video insulting the Prophet Muhammad that has sparked violent protests across the Middle East.
Remember she was opposed to Sudan's handover of Bin Lasden, back in the Clinton era, when she was State's chief Africa head,
the other big player, was Mrs. Todd's significant other, Carabelly, and of course, Joe Wilson.
So, when we have a complete depression, America's credit rating reduced to junk status, then you will be okay?
We elect Romney and we get a strong, growing economy. Which results in a flood of immigrants into the country. Which makes the country less cohesive socially, more of something I want nothing to do with.
You are an idiot.
I am done with you. Thank goodness for greasemonkey and killfile.
At his recent Fort Hood photo op, Obama reminded the silent military props forced to attend that late September would see another big pullout of American troops from Afghanistan, just as he'd promised. No wonder we read: "The Taliban's weekend assault on a major coalition base was one of the most determined and effective ever seen in Afghanistan."
"... According to one of the Libyan security guards who was stationed at one of the gates armed with only a radio, the assault began simultaneously from three directions. ..."
Romney should focus his criticism on us not having enough security resources available at the embassys and as quick reaction forces to protect against an attack. As it is, they sound incoherent by saying the US should never apologize for our free speech or whatever. Romney is too entangled with Israel first FP advisers.
"The way these perpetrators acted and moved -- I think we, and they're choosing the specific date for this so-called demonstration, I think we have no, this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, determined," Magariaf said on CBS's "Face the Nation."
"And you believe that this was the work of al Qaeda, and you believe that it was led by foreigners. Is that what you’re telling us?" CBS host Bob Schieffer asked.
"It was planned, definitely. It was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago. And they were planning this criminal act since their arrival," Magariaf said.
Interestingly, they are running that Indiana Jones film, about the Thuggee cult on the other channel, which at the time was flagged as too insensitive, 'political correctness' hadn't settled into the zeitgeist at that time.
" ... So, do I understand you are a single-issue voter and that illegal immigration trumps all, and for that reason, you encourage republicans to not vote for Mr Romney, and by implication give the JEF a second term? ..."
who is JEF? Immigration and import controls are very important issues. I do not hear Romney addressing either. And Romney is all in with Bibi and the attack on Iran.
It honestly may be better in the long term for the US to fail and break apart. Then the US could be reorganized along EU lines with a lot less foreign entanglements.
DrJ's WSJ article: The Taliban's weekend assault on a major coalition base was one of the most determined and effective ever seen in Afghanistan, according to details released Sunday, destroying six U.S. combat jets and damaging two others.
"more dependency on diminishing oil and gas deposits"
False. Proven reserves increased more last year than they have in decades. They did so without accounting for the Chukchi or ANWR fields and without adding much from the GOM deep water increases. That's just oil of course. The really big increases in reserves pertain to natural gas.
You don't exhibit much imagination, Steve. Are you sure you wouldn't be happier hiding in a closet rather than exposing your ignorance?
It's important to consider, that the Islamists didn't win the first round as in Egypt, this is why I've surmised that Bel Hadj might be involved in some way.
"... The Taliban's weekend assault on a major coalition base was one of the most determined and effective ever seen in Afghanistan, according to details released Sunday, destroying six U.S. combat jets and damaging two others. ..."
Will Romney maintain radio silence on the Afg issue? Does he have a plan?
"... False. Proven reserves increased more last year than they have in decades. They did so without accounting for the Chukchi or ANWR fields and without adding much from the GOM deep water increases. That's just oil of course. The really big increases in reserves pertain to natural gas. ..."
I am aware of this. Kind of ironic isn't it that the US oil industry is the thing that is growing the economy the last few years. Obama would have a recession on his hands if not for the ingenuity of American oil engineers.
I want US policy to look ahead 50, 100 years. If we did not have so many immigrants the population would remain steady and the oil and gas we have would last much longer.
Perhaps someone would ask Susan Rice, that genius, how many Libyans she thinks have internet access..without it they couldn't see the utube video. I think the number is astonishingly small, but then the thing about these geniuses, is they just think the M.E. is full of people like us with the same level of development who just choose to walk around in pajamas with towels on their heads.
So they are still projecting the shadows on the Cave wall, in Kipling's time, snd even
in doyle's they were more honest with what we were facing, they called them the ghazi and their weapon was the ghezail
". . .rapid cognition, about the kind of thinking that happens in a blink of an eye. When you meet someone for the first time, or walk into a house you are thinking of buying, or read the first few sentences of a book, your mind takes about two seconds to jump to a series of conclusions. . ."
Warriors call it a sixth sense or the hair standing up on their neck, or gut feeling.
Whatever.
After the last week, and in particular the bomb threats across four campuses on Friday, I feel at great unease. I have not felt this way, inside America, since the immediate aftermath of the 2001 attack. Back then, all were certain that a second major attack would occur in short order. On the east coast we had the sniper (resolved) and the anthrax (unresolved). I don't think any of us thought we'd go so very lonbg without another significant attack (notwithstanding Ft Hood "workplace violence" etc).
What I am saying is that my personal alert has been raised, and I suggest to all that you review your personal alert levels as well. Ultimatley, we are most responsible for our own security. When second count, security elements are only minutes away.
yeah, Romney will win the election for sure. You guys can't defend him. He is showing himself to have a 100% Israel focus for his FP. He has nothing to say about immigration. Nothing on the Afg war. He has allowed all the stuff Clinton said at the convention to be unrebutted.( the GM bailout was a bad thing. A union free GM would have been much better for the US and workers. )
(Sloppy editing. Too many typos to both to correct all, must need more coffee 'cause I swear after several proof-reads it was good to go. But, hopefully my point comes through adequately.)
The challenge for Republicans is how to support Israel without getting the US entangled in all of these foreign countries. And how to limit the influence of the policy specialists who consistently want to push the US to act on the behalf of Israel.
Funny, but they have already changed the text of the story. In it's original draft, they stated that what the Libyan president said "appears to controdict" Ms. Rice. Now they are leaving it up to the reader to make that connection (can't be too critical of JEF, or your Washington staff might wind up getting called in for questioning at 1 am).
Remember, it only takes a phone call to make those threats, Sandy. Some punk Saudi undergrad driving an Audi A8 could have made those calls from an anonymous phone. Same result; Defcon 3 at the universities.
However, the attack at Bastion should have General Allen freaked. The Tollybons just destroyed almost half a squadron and their refueling points. There aren't that many Harriers left and that is a lot of firepower that we may or may not have ready replacements for. This directly damages our ability to wage war on the Taliban.
Someone knew exactly what they were doing and just penetrated perhaps the most secure base in the country. A massive FOB, for God's sake, with a team wearing American uniforms and obviously with the right passwords, ID, etc.
This was the equivalent of a one way SEAL mission. They were very well trained and briefed, very well coordinated, and there was inside information. This just upped the war to a new level at a time when Bammers isn't even paying attention.
Pakistani involvement? Almost certainly planned, funded and owned.
Front page of today's LA Times? Alleged Buy Scout molestations 40 years old.
And it is not just the Middle East. There are many territorial disputes in Asia that are simmering. From the WSJ (again):
BEIJING—Several thousand protesters pelted Japan's embassy in Beijing with eggs and plastic bottles, and crowds attacked a Japanese-owned department store in central China, as popular anger escalated over Tokyo's plans to purchase contested islands in the East China Sea.
Hundreds of police struggled to maintain order outside the embassy in central Beijing. Groups of protesters confronted police in full riot gear, berating them for protecting the building.
A demonstrator threw a traffic cone in front of the fence set up by the line of Chinese Paramilitary policemen during an anti-Japanese protests outside the Japanese Embassy in Beijing Saturday.
"Smash Japanese imperialism," the protesters chanted as they marched through the embassy district. Some sang the Chinese national anthem and held high portraits of Mao Zedong. Young protesters climbed into trees outside the embassy's gates where they burned a Japanese flag to the crowd's cheers.
At least the embassy was protected, and no heads appear to have been lost or bodies sodomized.
We interrupt Steve's ravings to bring you a brief but important message...
A recent study conducted at the University of Groningen has found that women experiencing sexual arousal are less likely to experience feelings of disgust.
The beauty of Steve's ravings is clear--he'll vote for Obama who's expanded medical coverage through Obamacare to illegal immigrants so that while he is compelled to buy insurance, they aren't and yet both will be covered and provided the same cap level of care.
Think that will increase or decrease the amount of immigration?
I am convinced the eruption across the ME was coordinated to 9/11. Perhaps a day or two off, but this was the Salafists declaration of war. Incite the masses. Humiliate the Great Satan.
Haa'retz was featured on Drudge with an article on the pollyanna/misleading and completely failed US foreign policy in the ME. And it now exploding like a trick cigar in their faces.
"... We feel that America and England are more threatened by internal demographic erosion than we are by primeval religious nonsense that’s occurring thousands of miles away. We’re bitterly bemused at the fact that war-hungry stooges in the US and England are eagerly sending their soldiers over to die at the same time they’re allowing the Ummah to colonize us. Due to our half-assed and ultimately suicidal notions of tolerance and cultural sensitivity, the number of Muslims in the USA has more than doubled since 9/11. And we sincerely doubt that all, or even most, of them come with the noblest of intentions and an eager willingness to adjust to our culture. That’s simply not how Islam works. It’s not how Islam has ever worked. This is a real demographic threat rather than a vague existential one. Rather than further destroying our economy with endless and total wars of imperialism, we feel it’d be much more practical to immediately end all immigration to the US except for, say, scientists who have a cure for cancer.
No one who’s in favor of continuing all the wars in the Middle East can possibly be sincere about budget reduction. For the most part, we’ve stopped listening to our politicians.
We don’t want to kill ’em all and let God sort ’em out. Let’s get the hell out of there and let’s prevent them from further demographic encroachment here. Let them kill each other and let Allah sort ’em out.
..."
"... There are many territorial disputes in Asia that are simmering. ..."
which raises the issue of why does the US has such a large military presence in Eastern Asia? Why have troops in Korea and Japan? Why is the US Navy patroling the sea lanes there?
Why were there no republican candidates for president who supported a minimalist US FP? ( I don't like Ron Paul's domestic policies. )
I suspect Steve will write in the delightful Pat Buchanan's name before he votes for Barry.
He and Pat both think the US crashing and burning will be a good thing leading to a Phoenix like rebirth.....just like Rome and Carthage and Egypt and Assyria and the UK and .....
I'm surprised Susana Rice can get the oatmeal in her mouth without dribbling it all over her dress. She's out there selling camel dung "attack was not premeditated" and she expects us to believe it.
All "spontaneous protests" in the Middle East come with RPGs and mortars and people who know how to use them attached.
"Obama would have a recession on his hands if not for the ingenuity of American oil engineers.
I want US policy to look ahead 50, 100 years. If we did not have so many immigrants the population would remain steady and the oil and gas we have would last much longer."
Do you know how many of those oil engineers are immigrants? Legal immigration is a good thing, probably why most of us are here. Barry has shown himself to be pro-illegal immigration, with his amnesty by exec order. Yet you favor him because he'll tank the economy thereby redusing our fossil fuel usage (and exploration and innovation) and make the US so unattractive that even starving Africans won't want to come. Ok, got it.
“This is the latest triumph of politics over principle by the Obama administration,” Turley told The Daily Caller in a phone interview. “The position of the White House is rather transparent. It does not want to be seen as limiting free speech. This request was couched as a review.”
“The film was simply an act of free speech. The position of the United States should be clear. Violence was not caused by any film,” said Turley. “Free speech is not a characteristic of America. It defines being an American.”
Turley added that the administration has done “unprecedented harm” to principles of free speech.
"... I suspect Steve will write in the delightful Pat Buchanan's name before he votes for Barry. ..."
Pat is pretty good. Better as a pundit than politician. One big problem I see is there are too many people behind the scenes in the republican party who are working to focus US policy on protecting Israel. No candidates who spoke to issues I think are important, limit FP entanglements, limit immigration, limit imports from China, were on the primary ballot.
As influential as the tea party was in 2010, it appears to have been marginalized or even shutout in the presidential primary.
Excellent Pieces clarice.
I found this by Krauthammer interesting;
Which was an insult to the United States, which had gone to war six times in the last 20 years on behalf of oppressed Muslims, in Kuwait, in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
Do you think maybe there's a lesson there?
Like maybe going to war on behalf of oppressed muslims is a fool's errand?
Very well done, Clarice. These are troubling times.

--You are not responding to my point.--
More stupid stuff?
Your point was explicitly made when you said a good case could be made for not voting for Romney, the result of which of course will be a second Obama term.
One of the reasons you gave was that Romney would grow the economy which would result in more immigration. You didn't even specify illegal immigration.
My reply was precisely on point. If we follow your point to its logical conclusion our economy will be smashed and we will still have done nothing about illegal immigration.

Posted by: Steve | September 16, 2012 at 10:45 AM
So, you claim "I an more tea party than anything else." But you seem to be okay with the JEF even though he "is a disaster" because "by harming the economy the way he is doing, immigration into the US has slowed."
So, do I understand you are a single-issue voter and that illegal immigration trumps all, and for that reason, you encourage republicans to not vote for Mr Romney, and by implication give the JEF a second term?
Does that sum your position?
Make your case.

Just terrible that Romney could not address Afg at the convenion and on the campaign trail. That tells me that he would keep the troops over there.

Romney should focus his criticism on us not having enough security resources available at the embassys and as quick reaction forces to protect against an attack. As it is, they sound incoherent by saying the US should never apologize for our free speech or whatever. Romney is too entangled with Israel first FP advisers.

Well, after demoting Egypt from ally status, the administration seems to now be calling the president of Libya a liar.
Libyan president: 'No doubt' attack 'preplanned'
"The way these perpetrators acted and moved -- I think we, and they're choosing the specific date for this so-called demonstration, I think we have no, this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, determined," Magariaf said on CBS's "Face the Nation."
"And you believe that this was the work of al Qaeda, and you believe that it was led by foreigners. Is that what you’re telling us?" CBS host Bob Schieffer asked.
"It was planned, definitely. It was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago. And they were planning this criminal act since their arrival," Magariaf said.

who is JEF? Immigration and import controls are very important issues. I do not hear Romney addressing either. And Romney is all in with Bibi and the attack on Iran.
It honestly may be better in the long term for the US to fail and break apart. Then the US could be reorganized along EU lines with a lot less foreign entanglements.

I am aware of this. Kind of ironic isn't it that the US oil industry is the thing that is growing the economy the last few years. Obama would have a recession on his hands if not for the ingenuity of American oil engineers.
I want US policy to look ahead 50, 100 years. If we did not have so many immigrants the population would remain steady and the oil and gas we have would last much longer.

A lot of what we do is by instinct, as Malcolm Gladwell in Blink called:
I'm at orange, trending higher. So is my family.

Almost certainly planned, funded and owned.

http://takimag.com/article/wagging_the_dirty_infidel_dog_takimag/page_2#axzz26XneBY9R

Do you know how many of those oil engineers are immigrants? Legal immigration is a good thing, probably why most of us are here. Barry has shown himself to be pro-illegal immigration, with his amnesty by exec order.
