Given a choice, I'd rather watch the Yankees on top of the Sox at 5 to 1 in the top of the 5th, than watch the debate.

LIVE FEEDS: The Presidential Debate from Denver, CO (Wednesday 10-03-12)
Posted by: Sara | October 03, 2012 at 08:33 PM
Obama will appear aloof and uncomfortable-Romney will do fine and get a three point bounce.
Posted by: dublindave | October 03, 2012 at 08:34 PM
Go Sox! Go O's!
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | October 03, 2012 at 08:36 PM
Thank you, Tom Mcguire!
For what it is worth, I think we should all be thankful that Mitt Romney and his family love this country and are brave enough to take on this job.
Why would anyone want to go through this?
Posted by: Ann | October 03, 2012 at 08:42 PM
Swiss Mitt cannot sink any lower in the mud of his own incompetence.... he'd have to turn up in his dressing gown, unshaven and drunk to screw this one up (believe me I know).
It's Mitt's night, but only by default.
Posted by: dublindave | October 03, 2012 at 08:45 PM
Is anyone live blogging tonight? I'd rather read the comments than watch the "debate."
Posted by: DrJ | October 03, 2012 at 08:46 PM
A backer of Zero wants to throw the incompetence label around. Well at least he single handedly killed Osama with his bare hands.
Posted by: GMax | October 03, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Hasn't the result already been determinded?
I can see it now:
'Mr Romney, what event in your early life lead you to detest the American middle class?'
Or something to that effect.
Posted by: Not_Bubarooni | October 03, 2012 at 08:47 PM
I'm just tuning in the six "Zingers" the Romney campaign said they'd been working on and the Governor would preview tonight.

'Mr Romney, what event in your early life lead you to detest the American middle class?'

I'm babysitting until about 9:30 so I'm going to be interrupted mid debate. Maybe Janet or Daddy will do it.
Posted by: Jane | October 03, 2012 at 08:53 PM
Oh yeah, isn't he like leading a War on Women or something too?
Posted by: Not_Bubarooni | October 03, 2012 at 08:54 PM
Dudu, I'm pretty sure Romney has spent a heck of a lot more time with the middle class than Obama.
Posted by: Jane | October 03, 2012 at 08:55 PM
DrJ, you can pick up liveblogs over at Powerline, or try Stephen Green's drunkblogging over at PJM.
I'm sure the morons over at Ace's will have something going as well; they're always good for a laugh or three.
I'll probably just lurk here and read the comments. You could definitely do worse.
Posted by: Eric in Boise | October 03, 2012 at 08:55 PM
Mr. Romney, are you prepared to start a war in Iran? If so, how do you intend to pay for it?
Posted by: bunkerbuster | October 03, 2012 at 08:59 PM
I'm not gonna watch (not good for me). My love will, and will give me her thoughts. And of course I'll watch the FNC post mortem.
Posted by: Danube of Thought | October 03, 2012 at 08:59 PM
Some talking head on CNN just said that Obama was like Moses and that people are looking for Moses. Geez it is deep over there.
Posted by: daddy | October 03, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Thanks, EiB. We turned on C-Span, so I suppose we'll suffer through it. I hate the debate format, where all that you get are sound bites.
Jane, I'll look for your comments!
Posted by: DrJ | October 03, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Godspeed, Mitt. Our country is lucky to have you, and we need you.

Posted by: peter | October 03, 2012 at 09:08 PM
R: O believes in "trickle down government"
Posted by: hit and run | October 03, 2012 at 09:09 PM
What are the main diffs between the 2 of you as to how to create jobs.
Obama: 20 years ago I married Michelle. Weak joke follows.
4 years ago it was Bush's fault. We have begun to fight our way back. Auto industry is roaring back and housing is improving. Romney sez we should cut taxes but that is the wrong plan. My plan is to go to alternative energy and blah blah, blah. Are we going to do what got us into this mess in the first place or do what I want.
Romney: Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. I can help but it will take a different plan than what we have been doing the last 4 years. Lays out a 5 part plan in quick sentences. Sez we must champion small business and that new business startups are at a 30 year low. Presidents idea is do "trickle down Government". Thank you.

Gains in some of the toughest schools, like in Chicago.

Obama is into "trickle down government".
Comment on that MR, President.
No thanks, I'm going to talk about education. and more government jobs which is of course trickle down government but I won;t admit it.

He doesn't have an answer that doesn't involve ,ore govt.
Posted by: Pofarmer | October 03, 2012 at 09:10 PM
I don't have an answer memorized for that question, so I'll just jabber about some class warfare crap.
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | October 03, 2012 at 09:10 PM
Obama: "Let me talk specifically about what we need to do." Followed, of course, by meaningless generalities.
Followed by the Big Lie about companies being given tax breaks to ship jobs overseas.

Posted by: peter | October 03, 2012 at 09:13 PM
Yeah! Romney agreeing with Obama that domestic energy production is up. Then points out that it's in spite of, not because of Obama's policies.

What you do not understand is the the Democrats have redefined "Middle Class" on us.
They mean senior union workers who get paid $50k to $75k to screw, often in 40 bolts an hour (actually they may often watch...er...ah...supervise someone else screw in those bolts).
The older, accepted and more plausible definition of "Middle Class", that being those who own their own small or medium size businesses, have now amazingly turninto "The Rich".
These are the people that Obama wants to tax, and all the statistical legerdemain about "the 1%" is really just a dodge to hide this assault on the taxpayer. The "real rich"? Well, a great many of them are Democrats, and most of them buy T-bill anyway. This whole talk of "The Rich" is nothing but misdirection.
It is a curious thing that we are calling people who make $250k a year "The Rich", but the way things are going perhaps soon that will be all "The Rich" are worth.
This redefinition of middle is one of the more bizarre perversions of language we have let the Democrats get away with the last 15 years or so, and all the more bizarre for the fact that it is completely unacknowledged. It is the source of much confusion to those outside of Democrat circles.
This is why Obama with conviction can stand up and say that he his "defending the middle class"--he mean he is defending the unions. Democrats get this; the rest of us scratch our heads.
The real middle class? Why those people are either Kulaks or the "Petite Bourgeoisie", and as such deserve to be crushed into pulp.
Posted by: squaredance | October 03, 2012 at 09:17 PM
Romney just called Obama, in effect, a child.
Posted by: PD | October 03, 2012 at 09:17 PM

God bless you who are watching. I opted for the Yankees game and am very happy for the moment. 7-1, bases loaded with Yanks with one out in the sixth and the O's are losing.
I am praying the debate will go as well for R, and from the sound of things, it has so far.
Posted by: Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet | October 03, 2012 at 09:18 PM
"Obama has no ideas on how we create jobs."
Meanwhile there are still Americans who claim they will vote for him.
This is insane. Why are we putting up with this garbage.

Posted by: OldTimer | October 03, 2012 at 09:20 PM
Obama has no clue. He's just not that smart. He makes a claim and can't back it up. Romney is making great points. I'm somewhat relaxed. OK. I'm not.
