Thanks Sue for the Iowahawk link. That reinforces what I said this AM, its Romney Ryan 2 Zero Sneer 0 and Biden may just have sunk the ticket. When lefties figure out their messiah and Mr Foreign Gravitas/ The Shining have destroyed the party will they turn on them? Will the Hillbots be pissed at the rump left for them?

BREAKING NEWS: Obama Yard Signs See Explosive 200% Growth In Northern Guilford County
Romney Signs Grow At Comparatively Paltry 27%

I took a bit of a different route home from work today, covering some new ground. I saw two new Obama signs and eight new Romney signs.

Yard Sign Scoreboard
Romney: 38 | Obama: 3

I think you may be on to something, Extraneus.

henry

I saw one new sign today... Obama with the red circle and slash.

fdcol63, what you say rings true for all the interactions I've had with them and their owners. Maggie is very sensitive to thunder and fireworks to the point where we give her tranqs around July 4. I'm sure if you'd had your son when you got Nikita, she'd consider him part of the family pack.

Hit, Ginger was an Airedale I had when a teen. When our Hatettes were just at the age when we were thinking of leaving them without a babysitter, we got Trane, a very large male who reacted very sternly to anybody around the house that didn't belong there (I've subsequently met a medical student from Belarus who told me they're very popular there and make short work of any burglers). Subsequently we had Emma, a rescue, and now Maggie.

Yeah. Obama converted my Mom earlier this year, as I've reported previously. Converted her so thoroughly that she didn't watch the first debate because "I can't stand to listen to him."

Way to go, Worst President Ever.

Romney: Four More Weeks, Not Four More Years

You don't really have to check the link, I am only linking because Breitbart used my all time most favorite picture of Romney as part of their headline and I hate missing an excuse to repost it. :)

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

That's very good, maybe even Providential news Porch. :)

centralcal

One. Yes, I said one. Here in a Californication city of +500,000 where I travel daily I have seen one and only one yard sign. Yep, it is Obama/Biden 2012. Scads and scads of signs for City Council and for infamous Cali referendums that keep us insane, but no others.

My boss, who lives in yet another area of town, reports two. One each - Obama and Romney.

Not at all like it was in 2008.

Tea Party bumper stickers on 1 out of every 10 autos I encounter on my daily commute.

Our side has in recent years played it quiet and subtle, while the left shouted. Not much shouting going on in this blue hell this year. Cali is, sadly, a given for liberals. But, they are depressed this year, I think.

Captain Hate

Am I the only one who thinks "Al Qaeda" was a complete misnomer - a smokescreen and phony enemy - invented by someone in the Bush administration in order to avoid calling the lot of them run-of-the-mill jihadis?

I've always thought of them like gangs. Plus you have the Sunni/Shiite thing...

daddy

Re: This non-mention of Al Quaida by the Administration

Just to educate myself I clicked on a map of Northern Africa:

Then I opened a second window and googled "Al Quaida in Niger, Al Quaida in Algeria, Al Quaida in Mali, etc---all the surrounding countries.

In each search I immediately got back stories from major news networks (ABC, BBC, etc) of mention of Al Quaida terrorists and terrorist activities within each nearby country and all those stories within the last month.

That being the fact, it is even more worthy of asking why the heck the administration is refusing to say the words Al Quaida in regards to Benghazi and Libya? The only possible answer I can come up with is the reason that Stephanie Cutter attributes to Romney/Ryan---Partisan Election Politics.

Pot smoker-Kettle.

Jim Eagle

Here is why I am so confident.

Its not a community college or a major university or an SEIU set up but a small town in Ohio, downtown. No need for the obligatory background of a diverse group of groupies. This is the silent majority redux 2012.

Plus, I am now convinced that the RR rope-a-dope strategy drew out the Obama-Biden strategy on how to resurrect the campaign and now Romney is prepared more than ever.

narciso

Here's the thing, Ext, the common element is Salafi radicalism, and the umbrella group in the Moslem brotherhood, the Ikwan

PD

Cutter, Biden, etc., have tried to criticize Romney in the Benghazi affair for being quick on the draw in commenting on it. And using that as a lever for asserting that it's somehow unpatriotic to the president to do that.

Did Romney say something that was actually *incorrect*?

Now kids can't drink until 21 so its a challenge and they are away from home. Clue?

As someone who consumed copious quantities of alcoholic beverages of all kinds in college, law school and in the Army (all in good fellowship, of course), I regret to say I have not seen an appreciable difference in student drinking habits in over 50 years.

From stories told by my mother and dad, who went to college and grad school in the thirties, their experiences weren't much different than mine.

Is there any evidence that there is more of a student drinking problem now than in days of yore?

"The State Department security officials who testified before House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's panel Wednesday never said they had made their requests to the president, Rhodes pointed out."

The questioning by the Repubs. was amazingly incompetent. They did not pursue, at all, who made the original choices not to have "security" and instead use the "militia" which of course involves paying "money." IOW, why did the staff have to plead at all? Decisions were earlier made.

Could the State Dept. decide to hire militia as guards without Obama's signing off?

Again, the questioners were bumblers. Some many holes. OK, Obama was not told about the new requests just before 9/11. What about earlier???

Jeez.

Jim Eagle

Jane,

In an exchange with Perino it got a little heated about who knew what about Benghazi and he raised the point that Bush should have known what the Intel guys knew about the attack on 911. IOW's a veiled truther statement.

daddy

Glad to see Ichiro make it to the post, post Season.

On reflection I do not believe that there is anyone in the Romney/Ryan Campaign who is not genuinely and honestly pleased with Paul Ryan's performance last night.

On the other hand I believe that there are tons of people in the Obama/Biden Campaign that are genuinely and honestly very concerned about Joe Biden's performance last night. And they ought to be:)

To the dogs...

Janet

DiploMad asks - "Why was the Ambassador visiting Benghazi on 9/11 if he had serious concerns about security? Again, what was so important? Did the Ambassador let down his staff?

As noted, I didn't watch the whole thing; couldn't stand the State Department statements--they read too much like slick nonsense. From what I can tell, the real question is not being asked--maybe it is in a classified hearing. What was the facility in Benghazi? What made it so important even in the face of mounting threats? If it was important enough to operate, why wasn't it important enough to protect? Did the Ambassador ever threaten to close it down if it weren't protected? The real issue, however, is that the site could not be protected from the sort of attack we saw on 9/11 short of 30 or 40 well armed US troops. Why was it so important to risk so many lives?"

Al Qaeda are the New York Yankees of the Salafists. Just like the little punks all over the world I see with backwards Yankees hats who need a good slap upside the head.

It is a distributed, franchise operation. You send an e mail to a certain address and get a response and then communicate with Al Jihadi central.Every now and then maybe someone shows up to run a bomb course or drop off some explosives or take over a country.

But more importantly, it is an ideology. It is almost impossible to kill ideologies. Many in the far Left of the Dem party are still card carrying communists with a dose of Stalinism. They are true believers who can attract recruits with flashy successes.

The Taliban and the Salafists happen to have the same values so it's a natural alliance.

Bush era Salafist/terrorist problems: Afghanistan, Pakistan, UK, Germany, Spain, Phillipines

Obama Era Salafist/terrorist problems: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Somalia, Mali, Nigeria, Mauritania, Libya, Yemen

are we better off than we were 4 years ago?

Jane - Mock the Media!

Ahhh JiB, thanks. The person who should have known is Clinton but c'est la vie.

I was in a bar having dinner tonite talking to a friend. Someone mentioned Fox news. The guy sitting next to my friend chimed in that every day he checked the republican talking points on the RNC website and Fox reiterated them all day. (Has anyone here ever checked the RNC? Do they publish daily "talking points"?) I asked him if he watched the news hour on Fox and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Then he told me that the "Kox" brothers started the tea party and he had irrefutable evidence. When asked he said "Kox" hired a PR company who came up with the idea and started it.

I had no idea I've been so duped.

Janet

and this from another DiploMad post - "State is a notoriously bad manager under Democrats and Republicans. The State Department is a bloated bureaucracy increasingly removed from its core business of foreign policy and defense of US national interests."

That's a big piece isn't it? All these institutions are mired in nonsense. They don't even do their basic functions anymore. Buying Volts? Putting in electric stations for Volts? Holding late Ramadan dinners? You know there is "green" stuff & sexual orientation stuff & you-name-it,....nonsense.

"The facility in Benghazi was not a regular consulate despite what the press has been saying. It is not clear what exactly that facility was--it does not appear on the Embassy Tripoli website or in the State Department's list of consulates--but appears to have been operated on the bureaucratic sly to enable it to avoid expensive and time-consuming security requirements."
Sara

JiB:

A week or so ago while channel surfing, I stopped briefly at a cSPAN panel event. San Nunn was on the panel, as was Jim Baker and a few other old names from the Reagan era past. It was the very tail end, so I never really got the purpose of the panel discussion other than to get a sense that the country is in very dangerous waters and someone (can you say adult) needs to get a handle on it fast.

I thought Sam Nunn looked younger than he did the last time I saw him, which was about the time he retired, several years ago.

I'm sensing a preference cascade in the next two weeks that will make election night a lot less of a nail-biter. I think Biden just made it OK for a lot of fence-sitters on the distaff side to jump ship.

And don't underestimate the importance of the unavoidable Hillary v. White House rift that Biden so memorably cemented last night. There are millions of Hillary supporters who would much rather see her oppose Mitt in 2016 than try to extend the Obama disaster to twelve years.

Forget the snap polls. The VP debate was huge.

Janet,

LIke I and narciso have pointed out a number of times here, the Benghazi compound was a "hunting lodge" for the MANPADS and the bad boyz - AQIM and AAS as well as the camel jockeys from Northern Mali. The NSA had a listening post and the ex SEALS were "big game hunters'.

The Turks were doing our HUMINT and Stevens was there to follow up on shite they were hearing (on purpose) - that was the lure.

This is so TSC that even they didn't bring in Hill and the One. That is the reason Patreaus is pushing the video to protect his ops.

Interesting question about drinking since you and I both used to close the Tally Ho in Bethlehem. And since our parents and grandparents before.
