CH - I could not vomit in a public place. Yesterday at Trader Joe's, a wimpy little old lady (my age) had a button on her hemp shoulder bag with a "Vote No on the War on Women." In an alternate universe, I took her down at the register and hit her about her mealy-mouthed head with a bag of multigrain chips. She drove away in her Cleoville-approved Prius.

I picked this question as the stupidest of the night:
QUESTION: Hi, Governor. I think this is a tough question. To each of you. What do you believe is the biggest misperception that the American people have about you as a man and a candidate? Using specific examples, can you take this opportunity to debunk that misperception and set us straight?
I could change my mind and pick the equal pay question as the stupidest.
Sue:
When this stupid question was asked, I turned to my husband and said "This is the dumbest question of the night and has nothing to do with the present state of our country."
after this "discussion" last night, i asked myself, "whatever happened to that non hack christina romer?" oh yeah, she was run out of the west wing because larry summers and goolsbee wouldn't give her the time of day. not that christina romer is the second coming, but at least she's not a hack leftist. and the thing is that larry summers really isn't a leftist apologist either, but it's instructive of the place where non ideologues who happen to be women fit in the white house.
this is almost as interesting at the huge numbers of pasty white staffers in this administration.
LOL @ the biggest misperception about the JEF? That he's smart? That he cares about anybody other than himself? That he loves the country? That his entire life isn't a lie? No wonder he went into a stump speech.
From what I've heard about last night, isn't Romney such an improvement over that idiot McRINO? I hope it gives McStain pain to watch how a real candidate conducts himself.
Btw ratings were down 6-8% last night from the first debate
Every time I see anything on the "war on women" I am as offended as is humanly possible. You don't get to equality by making people unequal with legislation. Just ask any sane minority.
We chicks have had every advantage since back when I became of age, a long long long time ago. The only war in progress is a war on white men.
(I know I say this all the time but it really really really bugs me.)
" Now consider that sentence again “we’re going to coerce faith organizations to tell us things possibly told them in confidence and we’re going to coerce local law enforcement into working with us so we can stop violence ‘on the streets.’” Um… mkay."
Coming from the background of the deadly streets of Chicago every single American needs to realize that the Obama regime wants to get every single confidence given to anyone into their vast data bank.
Obama is circling the wagons. Has now canceled ad buys in NC and FL (Suffolk is now 1 state away from batting a 1000) and is concentrating on OH IA NV NH. I can't tell where Ace is getting that information.
Back on Candy Crowley...(not literally thank goodness)
Her statement at the time:
1) Crowley to Romney last night: “It did as well take — it did as well take two weeks or so for the whole idea there being a riot out there about this tape to come out. You are correct about that.”
Her covering her butt statement afterwards:
2) "right after that I did turn around and say, but you’re totally correct that they spent two weeks telling us this was about a tape and that that there was a, you know, this riot outside the Benghazi consulate WHICH THERE WASN'T."
Is it only me that sees a big difference in those 2 statements of hers?
It seems to me she is heavy into damage control and spin in the second comment. It seems to me she is pretending to have said something which she did not say. If she had said statement (2) she would partially have made Mitt's argument for him especially with that "Which There Wasn't" part. But she didn't say that, so when I view her statement (1) it interrupts Romney and deflates his talking point, letting Obama off the hook much more than she would like us to think. She did not at all make the specific point last night that there were no protests outside the Embassy in Benghazi.
I ask just because I haven't heard that point made on TV or Radio today and it is one that leaps out at me, so I'm wondering if I'm reading something into the 2 different statements that isn't really there. For a gal that is so damn picky about words, I think she should be held to the same verbal standard she demands of Mitt Romney, and thus she ought to be hammered for her actual words.
99From what I've heard about last night, isn't Romney such an improvement over that idiot McRINO?))
I was disappointed that Romney didn't win the primary last time around, but now I'm glad that he didn't and was spared being rolled by the Obama juggernaut. Instead we have him now when his experience and skills seem to be exactly what is needed at this point in time.
Sue: Obama is circling the wagons. Has now canceled ad buys in NC and FL
"There are a lot of ad buys that have already taken place -- so I don't expect to get a reprieve on those watching today's football games. But as long as Obama's spending money here that could probably be spent more effectively somewhere he still has a plausible chance of winning -- I'll gladly bear that burden."
--stuff hit and run said on Sunday an hour before Baumgartner jumped out of a capsule at nearly 128,000 feet above the earth, and immediately following his comments on NC early voting showing Obama getting beaten about the head and neck. Figuratively, from a voting perspective, of course.
Pretty sure "circling the wagons" is not the metaphor anyone likes people to be using about your campaign in October, unless you're Fauxcohantas maybe.
Daddy: I ask just because I haven't heard that point made on TV or Radio today and it is one that leaps out at me, so I'm wondering if I'm reading something into the 2 different statements that isn't really there.
Speaking of the end of AQ and the end of the Jihadi terrorist threat-- FBI sting indictment today of a Bengladeshi plotting to bomb the Fed Reserve Manhattan. Bam reallt is on a roll here, idn't he.
Using Howard Rosenberg's standard, Candy Crowley certainly fills the screen--so much that it looked as if she had hidden someone inside her plus-size coat. It reminded me of Commissaire Adamberg's unexpected escape from the villain in "Wash This Blood Clean from my Hand."(Fred Vargas LUN) Of course, police officer Violette literally embraced the good side of the force.
IMHO- narciso scored twice with his "Silent Running" references.
"By dawn's early light" today, we checked in the religious left retirement settlement to see if the one and only Romney sign was still standing. It was and seemingly unscathed. Now there's someone who refuses to give in to social-justice-one-world-govt. peer pressure carp.
Where was BOzo before Benghazi?
9-3 > OH then to NOLA "KatrinaKatrinaKatrina"
9-4 > VA
9-5/6 > Dem convention Charlotte
9-7 > NH then IA then FL
9-8 > FL
9-9 > FL
9-10 > back to DC
9-11 > 9-11 rounds. Panetta to WH late day
On at least 6 of those days there's no indication he received a daily briefing.
He's not getting New Hampshire and after last nights focus group (which I think was from Nevada) he's not getting Nevada either. Maryrose and the Capt have pledged Ohio, so I'm not worried. But they sure are.
Then all Romney has to do is flip either OH (18 EVs), or WI (10 EVs), or NV (6 EVs), or IA (6 EVs), or even NH (4 EVs). In other words, Bam has to hold onto all 5 to win, while all Romney has to do is win one of the five. I like those odds.
Porch, that site looks like it will be a big nothin'. If they had somethin' they'd out with it.
I'm starting to get cocky, or as they pronounce it in Minnesota, khaki. You can't fool over 50% of the electorate forever if you're a dirtbag. There is a finite number n such that after n years the public will figure out you're a dirtbag.
Seems like it, Jim Ryan. But it's set to go off before the last debate. If they have anything that would be a good time to break it, esp. if it's foreign policy related.
TC:
I loved your post. Best comment of the day.
Ohio will come through for Romney. The crowds here are huge for Romney and Ryan.
Mandel and Brown could be a sqeaker because of Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati.
I'm just among those who has never thought NH looked like a gimme for Mitt, despite the conventional wisdom on that score. It seems reasonable to expect better odds in formerly red states that went blue '08.
8K people in Leesburg, Virginia for a Romney rally?
I know that are well. Just drove through it on my way to Frederick from Dulles Air and Space when in DC a few days back. This is "suck the hind teat of the Federal Government" land. This is a big deal for Romney to muster that kind of crowd in the backwater of Loudon County.
This is not good for the Obama campaign who depends on community college backdrops instead of enthusiastic adults and likely voters.
That is a hell of a good point. It's true that Obama has relied very heavily on the window dressing and close focus this time. There does not seem to be the adulation, and as he won with only @52% of the vote last time, it was by no means a gimme.
It's the casual voter who tends to be the closer, and in this I think there are huge cracks in Obama's base.
Plus, NH's motto is "Live Free or Die". They hate taxes. They hate Massachusetts. Why would they vote for Obama.
Jane, you might know better than I, but I had the impression that lots of Bay Staters have moved to NH and made it more Democrat than it was 15 or 20 years ago.
The change in weighting by Marquette was rather revealing. The actual "firewalls" for BOzo were Dane County, Milwaukee, Cuyahoga County and NoVa. Marquette's attempt to salvage their reputation strongly suggests that Dane County and Milwaukee won't be enough, NoVa was not enough to hold Virginia and Cuyahoga cannot overcome the wave building in the 'burbs.
It would be a different story if a real Blue Hell like Philly were involved in the "firewall" but there isn't.
Here's what the FB poster says about the poll Hannity referred to FREAKIN' BIG BREAKING NEWS!!! Florida just went RED!!! Poll out 4 hours ago: Romney 51%, Obama 44%!!!

So the War on Wimmen includes funding the Planned Parenthood abortion mills? 3rd trimester abortions? $9/month for birth control?
What about increased breast cancer research? by billions? Cervical cancer research?
The funding for women's cancer research seems to be largely driven by private foundations. Why?
How is it that the Republicans did n=more to empower women under the Bush Administration than the entire Obama Administration?

Obama comes up with a reason to pull out of the next debate. No way he shows up for a foreign policy debate
Posted by: MG | October 17, 2012 at 06:26 PM
MG, he'll show up... he thinks he won both debates and has Scheiffer in his pocket.

My favorite meme today.
Posted by: Charlie (Colorado) | October 17, 2012 at 06:50 PM
It reminded me of Barbara Walters asking Katherine Hepburn if she was tree, which tree would she be.
Actually, that one made sense. People who trained in The Method spend lots of time trying to answer questions like that.

LOL. I had to do a modern interpretive dance one time. As a chair. Never felt so stupid in my life.

Chaco-
I left you an apology on PJT with regard to the non-farm figures.
And I apologize for what I put up there, here and now.

Jane, are you not worried about NH then? I confess I thought Romney would be polling better there by now.
I just don't think any undecided will vote for Obama if they are paying attention. And if they are not paying attention then why vote at all?
Posted by: Jane - Mock the Media! | October 17, 2012 at 07:11 PM
Plus, NH's motto is "Live Free or Die". They hate taxes. They hate Massachusetts. Why would they vote for Obama.
Posted by: Jane - Mock the Media! | October 17, 2012 at 07:12 PM
rse, no. It's tweets about some October Surprise that seem not to have anything to do with the moonbattery stuff.

Jane:
"Why would they vote for Obama."
Because they voted for Obama in 2008 and Kerry in 2004?

If that's the criterion then Mitt may as well fold his tent and tuck his tail right now.

Very different times I think JMH. People had work back then.

TC:
I loved your post. Best comment of the day.
Ohio will come through for Romney. The crowds here are huge for Romney and Ryan.
Mandel and Brown could be a sqeaker because of Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Ignatz:

Obama's war on women.
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obamas-female-debate-coach-complained-about-hostile-workplace-white-house_654745.html
Still we hear of Americans who plan to vote for:
"Obama himself is responsible for a work atmosphere that marginalizes and ignores women,"
This is truly insane!
Posted by: pagar | October 17, 2012 at 07:56 PM
JiB;

Jane, you might know better than I, but I had the impression that lots of Bay Staters have moved to NH and made it more Democrat than it was 15 or 20 years ago.
Posted by: jimmyk | October 17, 2012 at 08:01 PM
Porchlight,
The change in weighting by Marquette was rather revealing.

That too is true. I could be all wet but I don't think this is a static election. If you are an independent you are leaning Romney.

"The voice of one crying in the wilderness."
Far more time than Moses spent leading people thru the wilderness, I've been explaining that hoping for good things from Democrats is a waste of time.

Why is that, do you think?
I heard there will not be street money in Philly this year.

No candidate has ever been above 50% this late in the campaign and lost.
Who wants to volunteer to help Obama pack?

Hannity has a Fla poll showing Romney with a huge lead but i cannot find out what pollster was involved or any of the details.

Golly, it must have been good to require all this apologizing. And apology accepted.
But I haven't the foggiest notion what this is about.

Here's what the FB poster says about the poll Hannity referred to FREAKIN' BIG BREAKING NEWS!!! Florida just went RED!!! Poll out 4 hours ago: Romney 51%, Obama 44%!!!
No idea what pollster or anything else about it.
