Gallup back up to +7 today.

Captain Hate

Go Redskins! I heart RG3.

daddy

Thought it worth noting that in Milan Italy you get the Baseball PlayOffs live on TV, but in England you are SOL for anything but 'footy' and rugby. I doubt we'll ever civilize the Poms.

GMax

One good thing about all these pollsters needing to come clean, all the movement talk will be hugely depressing to the progs, and some of their voters may just say to hell with it and stay home.

henry

Mass shooting in Brookfield, across the street from the mall at a spa. Shooter still loose. Big response, 10 ambulances & flight for life helicopter. Multiple victims, happened at 11:30.

daddy

Hit,

If you have a chance can you post that website to North Carolina voters. My mom from Morehead passed away a few years back but I would be interested in seeing if she is still on the rolls.

Danube of Thought on Ipad

I note that IBD/TIPP now has Obama up 6, whereas less than two weeks ago they had Romney up 4. Do you suppose they ask themselves, "can this be real?"

Jane - Mock the Media!

Henry,

Is that near you? Fox is saying it was someone's father or step father. The daughter escaped and reported it.

jimmyk

"can this be real?"

As real as a D+7 sample, DoT. (Can't tell from the site what the previous polls were.)

daddy

Since Clarice's excellent Pieces is about the Repub War on Women, and since the previous thread says the new Dem Taliking Point is "Romney thinks of women like he is in the 1950's", it is worth mentioning that the big scandal on all the channels and papers over here is about some dead BBC TV personality, who is now accused of Sexually Abusing at least 60 women andchildren during his 40 year BBC Career.

Here for instance is the Telegraph's latest take: Questions the BBC has to answer:

"The BBC must be fearless and transparent in its investigation of Jimmy Savile's abuses...there were many warning signs within the BBC that Savile’s behaviour was not merely odd, it was criminal. Those signs were either missed or ignored...the Savile scandal shows (The BBC) turning a blind eye to personal corruption at the heart of its operation, and abuses of trust that left many lives damaged. Savile’s power came directly from his position as one of the BBC’s most treasured presenters."

Nice to see the BBC and their malignant treatment of women inder the gun. Seems to me it makes Mitt's respectful "1950's treatment of women" look like something to be desired and emulated.

PD

Steyn on "1950s Mitt." His skewers are well sharpened.

Jim Eagle

daddy,

Ain't so in Old Blighty. You get American football on Sky plus they have ESPN for Monday Night Football. You need to find a hotel or pub with Sky Sports.

Captain Hate

DoT, I can't remember a more enjoyable Redskins offense to watch since the Fun Bunch. Santana Moss: Core Redskinz

Jim Eagle

CH,

RG3 just threw a bubble screen to Santana Moss who took it for the score untouched. Tremendous downfield blocking and that kid Paulson at TE is making the loss of Fred Davis easier to take.
10-7 Skins over the Gmen.

Captain Hate

I'm watching it JiB; my boycott is over.

Danube of Thought on Ipad

Every poll in today's RCP horserace has Obama in the range of 45-49, withe the sverage being 47.1.

Jimmyk, do you know whether they eere using D+7 when they had Romney up 4?

daddy

JiB,

Off to Pub crawl in Cambridge, but have been unable over the last 2 days to find anything but Soccer and Rugby. It is a fun task searching though and thankfully I am up to that challenge:)

narciso

Well a spirited match is always worth watching, bte, can Saville look any creepier in that BBC pic.

glenda

Wouldn't you love to see Clarice in a debate with say, Eva Longoria-fluke-streisand?..

I know--not a fair fight--but neither would be DWS, NancyP of CA or JanW of IL or Candy/Martha...

And Jane or bgates could be the moderator :)

great pieces today!

Jim Eagle

Houston is putting a real hurting on Bal'damore. And the Gmen have tied it up with FG.

daddy,

Jimmy Saville was a real slime ball but he was revered for his off-hand humor on a stupid game show he was the MC on. I always thought he was either a pederast or clinical psychotic. But the Brits love their comedians to be a little goofy and unconventional. Remember Benny Hill:)

Jim Eagle

RG3 29 yard rush and then the RB gets a big gain. NOw on the Gmen's 19. 2 minute warning for the half.

daddy

"can Saville look any creepier in that BBC pic?"

No. He is one creepy, creepy looking dude, Narciso.

I don't know how he was so popular. In all the video clips that they run, his demeanor and attitude seems perfectly attuned with his creepy looks.

BTW SkyNews this instant is telling us that the Math's favor Barack Obama in the Presidential Election. Don't know what polls they are looking at.

Danube of Thought on Ipad

RG3 is already better than Vick has ever been.

jimmyk

Jimmyk, do you know whether they eere using D+7 when they had Romney up 4?

No, I happened to catch yesterday's at the TIPP site before they changed it, and it was also D+7, but the archived results don't show that information directly. My guess is that it's been constant.

Also, they say

Sample Size: 913 likely voters (identified from 1044 registered voters with party affiliation of 37% Dem, 30% GOP, 32% Ind.)

so it's not clear they apply the D+7 to the LVs. But something must be flaky for the poll to bounce around like that.

narciso

Honestly, jiB, Baltimore is 'punish for gluttonment, someone should just yell, 'no
mas, Roberto Duran style.

Jim Eagle

Skin's FG. 13-10. Tuck sacked RG3. Less than 2 to go.

Jim Eagle

narciso,

Ah, Duran = manos de la piedra:)

daddy,

Maybe Sky mean't to say that the Math Brothers are favored over the Gaffe Brothers.

GMax

o + 6 from R + 4 in a week? that's not movement that is whiplash! Has any other pollster found any movement for 0? None I can think of.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

RG3 is already better than Vick has ever been.

And RG3 will get better, DOT. Vick never did.

daddy:
My mom from Morehead passed away a few years back but I would be interested in seeing if she is still on the rolls.

You can go here, and with first and last name, date of birth, and county get voter info.

That's different than the file I'm using which is a .csv containing a row for every voter who has voted or requested an absentee ballot. 587K rows. My old version of excel craps out at 65K rows, so I'm having to use Access. At least until the state updates the files that aggragates by county. ::taps fingers on desk::

Jim Eagle

Too bad that tomorrow's debate is Foreign Policy because The One could show how this one industry is growing and prospering in large part to his own administration and policies.

I'd love to hear them brag about this to his base:)

Gmen tie it at the half 13 all.

Captain Hate

Have the refs just decided to not call holding against the Ginats? Kerrigan is having his jersey hoisted over his head.

Can't see where they are getting this, but if this 'rocket surgeon is any indication;

daddy

Watching CNN so you don't have to.

I just heard a CNN International British speaking reporter (John somebody) saying that General Tommy Franks is now a Romney Military Advisor and that "he is the man who let Bin Ladin go."

Where did that come from? Is that now some indisputable new conventional wisdom that Tommy Franks is the fall guy for Osama? Somehow I have not been hearing that "Tommy Franks is the guy who let Bin laden go" these last many years until CNN suddenly announces he is a Romney advisor.

Amazing the stuff you learn if it can be spun to harm Romney.

Now they are playing the Candy Crowley bail out clip of Obama saying "Can you say that a little louder Candy", so that viewers around the world will supposedly know that the President analyzed Benghazi correctly and Romney did not. No playing of the bit just after of Crowley saying that Mitt was correct. (Nice edit CNN).The CNN guy asks his guest if that clip will prove damaging to Romney, and the guest is not sharp enough to respond "Keep running the clip."

Oh well.

daddy

Thanks Hit.

Looks like Mom and Pop are no longer voting in North Carolina. Whew!

GMax

That TIPP poll has Romney up 1 in the South when McCain won by 11. It wont surprise me if Romney does not win the South by close to 20. You have wonder if all the calls in the South went to Austin...

Jim Eagle

narciso,

Green Bay is back and so is N'olens. Two great games for them, so far. And is there a better, badder, smart defensive lineman in the game than J. J. Watt?

Yeah, this is who I would use, snarc;

No. Inexplicable.

GMax

Well remember 1 out 20 polls taken is a real doozy well outside of the MOE...

Crazy TIPP poll alohas Romney down with men I think. Trash poll. Today 5 other trackers all moved towards Mitt. Gallup, ras, and rand all plus 1 and Reuters/Ipsos and Papp up 2 . RCP won't use rand, Ipsos or Papp. Upi not in yet but had Romney up 2 yesterday. RCP skips that one also.

Danube of Thought on Ipad

How 'bout them Redskins?

Jim Eagle

What a throw. After converting 4th and 10 RG3 throws a bomb to Santana Moss with 1:30 to go. Only have a 3 pt. lead though.
Incredible.

It's sweet listening to my sweetheart see her Giants recover from RG3's stellar play. She gets such enjoyment out of the game.

Jim Eagle

Manning does it again in the 4th Q. Gets Cruz on a 75 harder. But RG3 has 1:13 left.

Jim Eagle

Gmen recover a Moss fumble after he gets the 1st down. 5 TO's by the Skins. They will remember this game with the Gmen come to DC. RG3 is too good. Eli lucky the Skins have such a leaky secondary.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Whadda game.

Captain Hate

Redskins were dropping like flies with injuries; I hope London Fletcher is ok. Gutsy effort but there's a reason the Ginats are defending champs.

I thought San Diego had a bye week. Looks like they put on Redskins uniforms instead.

Jim Eagle

TK,

You should only hope you have a QB like RG3. But then you have Norm.

Breitbart:

"Speculation has surrounded a story published last week by the left-wing website AlterNet, purporting to tell the story of women who claimed Mitt Romney advised them in the 1980s, in his capacity as a church leader, against having abortions.

"There is only one problem: the story is not new, and Breitbart News already discussed several aspects of the tale in January 2012, including the false claim that Romney had been insensitive to women in his congregation. One woman he had counseled against having an abortion, and who carried her baby to term, told Vogue in February she was grateful to Romney for his help, though she later decided to leave the Mormon church."

Allred is a life-time member of the First Order of Skanks and will, of course, get the MFM to make a BFD out of this but the electorate are not interested except the Fluke's of this world and the other ten idiots who showed up for her speech in Reno.

Talked to an old Florida politico this morning at brunch and he was all smiles. He says the One's internals in Florida indicate a rout. Like the Gators did on the Gamecocks. He thinks Nelson is in trouble as a result.

Can Romney have coat=tails?

Final Game Recap (Cowboys v Panthers): Obama aired two ads -- both in the first quarter of the game -- same ad twice, a 47% bit lying start to finish.

I'm now on CBS for the Pats-Jets game.

Secret talks with Israel in Obama regime language means try to take all defenses away from Israel, IMO.

WoW! Jets score on the Pats thanks to that guy who is over-rated TEBOW who teed it up for one of the ordinary players to score from the one. Jets 7-0. Wonder if it will hold up:)

Frank Newport of Gallup was very interesting on Chris Wallace today. He said Gallup does not weight by party ID, and never has. They ask respondents their questions, and at the end they ask "do you consider yourself a D, an R or an I," and then they publish the results of the poll answers along with the numbers of D's, R's and I's. Interesting that he says most other major pollsters don't weight by ID either.

He says they don't weight for it because it is so volatile, and is largely subsumed within the choice of candidate.

"Speculation has surrounded a story published last week by the left-wing website AlterNet, purporting to tell the story of women who claimed Mitt Romney advised them in the 1980s, in his capacity as a church leader, against having abortions.

I don't understand why this would be news if it was new. Why wouldn't he advise people against abortions? Can we assume Obama would advise women to have abortions?

MarkO

Let's see. If Romney's church opposed abortion and he was an authority in that church, should he not follow the church's doctrine?

I don't know that any of that is true, but it would be good to know that someone who purports to exercise authority on behalf of a church or a country feels bound by the rules of those entities.

Or, is that just so last century?

Dave (in MA)

I wonder if Sanchez said "Standby trying to fix" when he screwed the pooch on that safety.

PL,

Thanks for that youtube link. I've had several friends who wanted a way to watch it and the original DVDs are a little hard to find.

So my impromptu book review, Demille's the Panther, is very good, continuing the series of the FBI duo, John 'O'Conner and

Now, Bowden's 'The Finish is another matter, very dissapointing, I think drinking from the bath salts, at the Atlantic, must be responsible, there are glimmers of the old insights he had from Black Hawk Down, forward, but they are few and far between. One structural problem is there are no notes, as with his earlier books, another is in the nature of his
'scoops' for instance, he reveals that the original source for the 'courier' is a Mauritanian Ould Slahi, who was involved with the Hamburg cell, then he states that
he was tortured, however, the Schmidt-Furlow report, referred by in Thiessen,
shows there was nothing of the kind. There may have been some threats, and allusions but no physical mistreatment. So he was relying on his attorney's account, which
was trumpeted by the Journal's Jess Bravin,
He points out that McChrystal was the one who really created the intelligence system, this is established early on, but his brusque dismissal based on the bogus Rolling Stone report, isn't focused on,

With regards to Obama he is forced to mine
'meaning' from those ridiculous remarks he made to the Hyde Park journal, about the terrorists lacking 'empathy', he like wise
tries to impart wisdom from Ben Rhodes,
the architect of the Cairo doctrine,

Jane, the shooting was about 1 mile from my office. Last I heard 3 dead, 4 wounded. The shooter was AFr-Am with a restraining order from his wife, and is still at large. I only know one person (I think) who went to the spa, and she wasn't there today.

Of course Jane Roe herself (Norma McCorvey) became a pro-life activist after becoming a Christian. Not sure what became of her baby, except that she was adopted, and would be around 42 today. She may not know who her birth mother was.

I just got home and I read enough of the last thread to read Mark Folkstead on the death of George McGovern. I want to add my two cents.

I feel very much the same way about him that Mark does, but I cannot bring myself to give him a moment's notice about whatever service he gave as a bomber. He does not deserve it. He denigrated active duty service members so I will give him no kudos for his own service. I despised the man in the early '70s and I still despise him today. It was his dirty followers who dumped raw sewage on my husband just after returning from his 4th VN tour. It was his followers who dogged us and made our lives miserable. To me he was a slug on humanity.

I hope he is now facing those he had a hand in destroying and that God slams his book of life shut and sends him straight to hell. And may God forgive me for not being able to find any charity in my heart for this blight on humanity.
