Since Clarice's excellent Pieces is about the Repub War on Women, and since the previous thread says the new Dem Taliking Point is "Romney thinks of women like he is in the 1950's", it is worth mentioning that the big scandal on all the channels and papers over here is about some dead BBC TV personality, who is now accused of Sexually Abusing at least 60 women andchildren during his 40 year BBC Career.
"The BBC must be fearless and transparent in its investigation of Jimmy Savile's abuses...there were many warning signs within the BBC that Savile’s behaviour was not merely odd, it was criminal. Those signs were either missed or ignored...the Savile scandal shows (The BBC) turning a blind eye to personal corruption at the heart of its operation, and abuses of trust that left many lives damaged. Savile’s power came directly from his position as one of the BBC’s most treasured presenters."
Nice to see the BBC and their malignant treatment of women inder the gun. Seems to me it makes Mitt's respectful "1950's treatment of women" look like something to be desired and emulated.

Jimmyk, do you know whether they eere using D+7 when they had Romney up 4?
No, I happened to catch yesterday's at the TIPP site before they changed it, and it was also D+7, but the archived results don't show that information directly. My guess is that it's been constant.
Also, they say
Sample Size: 913 likely voters (identified from 1044 registered voters with party affiliation of 37% Dem, 30% GOP, 32% Ind.)
so it's not clear they apply the D+7 to the LVs. But something must be flaky for the poll to bounce around like that.

I just heard a CNN International British speaking reporter (John somebody) saying that General Tommy Franks is now a Romney Military Advisor and that "he is the man who let Bin Ladin go."
Where did that come from? Is that now some indisputable new conventional wisdom that Tommy Franks is the fall guy for Osama? Somehow I have not been hearing that "Tommy Franks is the guy who let Bin laden go" these last many years until CNN suddenly announces he is a Romney advisor.
Amazing the stuff you learn if it can be spun to harm Romney.
Now they are playing the Candy Crowley bail out clip of Obama saying "Can you say that a little louder Candy", so that viewers around the world will supposedly know that the President analyzed Benghazi correctly and Romney did not. WoW! Jets score on the Pats thanks to that guy who is over-rated TEBOW who teed it up for one of the ordinary players to score from the one. Jets 7-0. Wonder if it will hold up:)
Frank Newport of Gallup was very interesting on Chris Wallace today. He said Gallup does not weight by party ID, and never has. They ask respondents their questions, and at the end they ask "do you consider yourself a D, an R or an I," and then they publish the results of the poll answers along with the numbers of D's, R's and I's. Interesting that he says most other major pollsters don't weight by ID either.
He says they don't weight for it because it is so volatile, and is largely subsumed within the choice of candidate.
"Speculation has surrounded a story published last week by the left-wing website AlterNet, purporting to tell the story of women who claimed Mitt Romney advised them in the 1980s, in his capacity as a church leader, against having abortions.
I don't understand why this would be news if it was new. Why wouldn't he advise people against abortions? Can we assume Obama would advise women to have abortions?
Let's see. If Romney's church opposed abortion and he was an authority in that church, should he not follow the church's doctrine?
I don't know that any of that is true, but it would be good to know that someone who purports to exercise authority on behalf of a church or a country feels bound by the rules of those entities.
I thought someone who was saved during an abortion has already testified or spoke up for Romney. Don't have the source or link but IIRC there was a young woman who has done this.
From Eisenhower-Stevenson II through Obama-McCain, Gallup's final number has never varied more than 3.0% from the actual repsult for any candidate, except in two elections involving serious third-party candidates (1980 and 1992).
Lets remember that the only reason the Progs won in 1912 with Wilson was that Teddy ran as a Bull Moose and took in 24% of the vote. Only Perot did better in 92 with 18%.
Thanks for that youtube link. I've had several friends who wanted a way to watch it and the original DVDs are a little hard to find.
On a similar note, my other fave from the same Scorsese series is Red, White and Blues which shows how the Brit invasion was entirely built on our black blues masters. Watching Beck and Tom Jones (!) jamming at Apple never gets old. Lulu? Awesome!
So my impromptu book review, Demille's the Panther, is very good, continuing the series of the FBI duo, John 'O'Conner and

Now, Bowden's 'The Finish is another matter, very dissapointing, I think drinking from the bath salts, at the Atlantic, must be responsible, there are glimmers of the old insights he had from Black Hawk Down, forward, but they are few and far between. One structural problem is there are no notes, as with his earlier books, another is in the nature of his
'scoops' for instance, he reveals that the original source for the 'courier' is a Mauritanian Ould Slahi, who was involved with the Hamburg cell, then he states that
he was tortured, however, the Schmidt-Furlow report, referred by in Thiessen,
shows there was nothing of the kind. There may have been some threats, and allusions but no physical mistreatment. So he was relying on his attorney's account, which
was trumpeted by the Journal's Jess Bravin,
He points out that McChrystal was the one who really created the intelligence system, this is established early on, but his brusque dismissal based on the bogus Rolling Stone report, isn't focused on,
With regards to Obama he is forced to mine

tries to impart wisdom from Ben Rhodes,

Jane, the shooting was about 1 mile from my office. Last I heard 3 dead, 4 wounded. The shooter was AFr-Am with a restraining order from his wife, and is still at large. I only know one person (I think) who went to the spa, and she wasn't there today.
Of course Jane Roe herself (Norma McCorvey) became a pro-life activist after becoming a Christian. Not sure what became of her baby, except that she was adopted, and would be around 42 today. She may not know who her birth mother was.
I just got home and I read enough of the last thread to read Mark Folkstead on the death of George McGovern. I want to add my two cents.
I feel very much the same way about him that Mark does, but I cannot bring myself to give him a moment's notice about whatever service he gave as a bomber. He does not deserve it. He denigrated active duty service members so I will give him no kudos for his own service. I despised the man in the early '70s and I still despise him today. It was his dirty followers who dumped raw sewage on my husband just after returning from his 4th VN tour. It was his followers who dogged us and made our lives miserable. To me he was a slug on humanity.
I hope he is now facing those he had a hand in destroying and that God slams his book of life shut and sends him straight to hell. And may God forgive me for not being able to find any charity in my heart for this blight on humanity.
Gallup back up to +7 today.

Talked to an old Florida politico this morning at brunch and he was all smiles. He says the One's internals in Florida indicate a rout. Like the Gators did on the Gamecocks. He thinks Nelson is in trouble as a result.
Can Romney have coat=tails?

Final Game Recap (Cowboys v Panthers): Obama aired two ads -- both in the first quarter of the game -- same ad twice, a 47% bit lying start to finish.
I'm now on CBS for the Pats-Jets game.

All one needs to know about the Obama Regime and their secret talks with Iran.

Secret talks with Muslims in Obama regime language means give them every thing they want, IMO.
Secret talks with Israel in Obama regime language means try to take all defenses away from Israel, IMO.

WoW! Jets score on the Pats thanks to that guy who is over-rated TEBOW who teed it up for one of the ordinary players to score from the one. Jets 7-0. Wonder if it will hold up:)

Another WoW! McCourty takes the KO back 104 yards against the Jets. All tied up 7-7.
In Chinese: Jets no tackle.

I had never seen Piano Blues before and after your post about it found it on YouTube. Wow.
It was clearly a labor of love on Eastwood's part. And he has enough love to tell people when they mess up too, like he did at the convention.

Just received the news that my brother got a ticket to the Mitt/Bolton event in Pittsburgh. I am so jealous.

Posted by: Jane - Mock the Media! | October 21, 2012 at 05:20 PM
Let's see. If Romney's church opposed abortion and he was an authority in that church, should he not follow the church's doctrine?
I don't know that any of that is true, but it would be good to know that someone who purports to exercise authority on behalf of a church or a country feels bound by the rules of those entities.
Or, is that just so last century?

I wonder if Sanchez said "Standby trying to fix" when he screwed the pooch on that safety.
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | October 21, 2012 at 05:23 PM
I would assume that it was his duty as a Bishop of the church to counsel against the abortion.

" Can we assume Obama would advise women to have abortions?"
Plus urge her to get all her family and friends to have abortions too.

Could it be Tebow time in Foxboro already? Either that or suffer the consequences of overwhelming beatdown by Tom Terrific and his Band of Brudders.

Maybe if a woman came to Obama for advice he's says: "honey you are on your own".
Posted by: Jane - Mock the Media! | October 21, 2012 at 05:30 PM
I hope the person who wasn't aborted would step forward and say: "So you wanted to murder me Mr. President?"

Jane,
I thought someone who was saved during an abortion has already testified or spoke up for Romney. Don't have the source or link but IIRC there was a young woman who has done this.

Dave ( in MA ),
I forgot that the Pats have to have a defense from time to time.

From Eisenhower-Stevenson II through Obama-McCain, Gallup's final number has never varied more than 3.0% from the actual repsult for any candidate, except in two elections involving serious third-party candidates (1980 and 1992).

You're not Danube of Thought for nothing. I like it. I pray for it. I fear the doom of Obama II, The Darkness.

Lets remember that the only reason the Progs won in 1912 with Wilson was that Teddy ran as a Bull Moose and took in 24% of the vote. Only Perot did better in 92 with 18%.

PL,
Thanks for that youtube link.
Lulu? Awesome!
LUN are some of the segments from that episode.

So my impromptu book review, Demille's the Panther, is very good, continuing the series of the FBI duo, John 'O'Conner and
Kate (I forget her name, honestly) this time in Yemen, replicates a little of the previous plot with the Lion,
Now, Bowden's 'The Finish is another matter, very dissapointing, I think drinking from the bath salts, at the Atlantic, must be responsible, there are glimmers of the old insights he had from Black Hawk Down, forward, but they are few and far between.
'meaning' from those ridiculous remarks he made to the Hyde Park journal, about the terrorists lacking 'empathy', he like wise
tries to impart wisdom from Ben Rhodes,
the architect of the Cairo doctrine,
