“I believe that the Palestinian request from the United Nations is congruent with the basic concept of the two-state solution. Therefore, I see no reason to oppose it. ``Once the United Nations will lay the foundation for this idea, we in Israel will have to engage in a serious process of negotiations, in order to agree on specific borders based on the 1967 lines, and resolve the other issues. It is time to give a hand to, and encourage, the moderate forces amongst the Palestinians. Abu-Mazen"—an alias for Abbas—"and Salam Fayyad need our help. It's time to give it.” --Ehud Olmert, former prime minister of Israel.

...2. This is exactly why I don't read!--

I like to read and so I read the very next line...

In fact, outside of that post-WWII era, the only time the deficit has fallen faster was when the economy relapsed in 1937, turning the Great Depression into a decade-long affair.

Sorry about the camper top :(

Oh, me too, Clarice! Maybe instead of the JOM island, we could all board daddy's FedEx plane and head out to adventures across the globe.

Seriously, how could they ever find us to tax us? We would certainly eat well and be entertained!

Republican math: all the Trillion-dollar deficits belong to Obama, who has now borrowed more than all presidents from Washington to Bush 43.

But who cares? Didn't this moron tell us the other day that neither Ford Motor Company nor the federal government ever pays its debts?

Where do we find simpletons like this?

Clarice,

I keep thinking I will rally, but I'm having a very hard time. Had a family crisis before I left on vacation which didn't help my mood. All I feel right now is doom.

I'm tempted to write Governor Romney a letter to tell him how much his candidacy meant to me. I never ever expected to feel about it like I did.

"Where do we find simpletons like this?" Ahem. right here I'm sorry to say, DoT.

Yeah, cc, we could hijack a big Fed Ex plane and travel the world living off the fat of the land.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to everyone!

Legal Beagles, I am way behind so if you've covered this lately please SOB.

Over at Althouse they are discussing this story about the ramifications of States not setting up ObamaCare Exchanges: If States Don't Set Up Insurance Exchanges, Will 'Obamacare' Implode?

Althouse highlights this bit:

"Stuart Taylor Jr. explains the glaring problem with the federal exchanges. I'll just quote his parting shot:"

And in the perhaps unlikely event that the dispute over the powers of federal exchanges reaches the Supreme Court, would Chief Justice John Roberts -- having made his uneasy peace with "Obamacare" in June -- have the stomach to resume hostilities based on a legal analysis that even lawyers find hard to follow?

"The stomach to resume hostilities? I would not assume that Roberts "made peace" with Obamacare. He may believe he delivered a wound that escaped notice but will prove fatal."

I have no clue. I "feel" that it's ultimately going to be implemented and push us toward a single payer system regardless how bad the written Law is. Do you Legal folks think we "legally" still have a chance of sticking a fork in ObamaCare?

And now we have this revolting 'show', and it's nothing but pure, gut-wrenching, vile propaganda:

Good evening all.

An early Happy Birthday to Clarice and Mrs. Hit-and-Run. Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Frau (of the many German names). daddy, that bar crawl looked like a blast.

Yoo Hoo, Mrs. Feldman!
I'd gladly pay to go on a daddy-led tour, Clarice.

BTW I was of the *radio* era and never saw the Goldbergs on TV. We didn't have a set. My brother and I watched 'Kukla, Fran and Ollie' while standing outside a radio and TV store. Later on, continuing with the classics,I watched Phil Silvers on a hand-me-down TV.

RichatUF

I don't even know if these are on the table for the fiscal cliff negotiations.

My understanding is that those Zerocare taxes are "not on the table". Should be interesting over the next couple months.

Daddy,

As I understand it, Catherine Sebelius is rewriting the law as we sit here. Apparently she has been given law-writing authority which is utterly unquestionable. If you doubt me, just ask the media.

Frau, I'm trying very hard to find something uplifting. Trust me, Christmas won't do it. I did buy 4 bottles of vodka last week and may have to rely on that.

Clarice, I'd very much like to visit you sometime this year. But not until I am in a better mood.

Frau Regenmantel

A JOM aerial road trip with daddy???

Count me in. I'm reserving my seat now. It can be a Fahrt ins Blue (mystery tour) as far as I'm concerned.

After a historic and (almost) unprecedented! reduction in the size of the deficit as a percentage of GDP, it is now only slightly worse by that measure than the two worst years of the Bush administration combined. Those years were 2003 and 2004; Bush and the Republican Congress had reduced the deficit to 1.2% of GDP by 2007, shortly before Barack Obama said the accumulation of debt during the Bush administration was "unpatriotic".

Deficit as % of GDP now stands at 7. Since 1946, there have been only three years during which that figure has been worse; all three were during the Obama presidency.

Clarice

Jane, whenever you're ready. You don't even have to talk except to say what you want to eat. You can occupy yourself visiting the museums if you want.

If it wasn't true they wouldn't let me put it on the internet.

Frau Regenmantel

Jane, I dream about one unifying sign or bumper sticker that will connect us all over the nation. (The early Christians had their sign.) We feel too isolated. I've mentioned to Janet that I felt the Tea Party needed/needs to have another mass gathering in D.C. and this time to overflow the mall and/or surround the fracking WH. We must redress our grievances. NO secretary should have the power to "shall" our behavior, nor should the Congress pervert established rules by "deeming" action.

Obama did *not* receive a mandate. He must not be allowed to assert it. Believe me, I'm tired but not about to roll over for these crooks.
If it's racist to criticize Obama, let's criticize and ridicule the carp out of Reid and all the others.

narciso

So it's an Andy Dufresne move, when he commandeered the Warden's record player,

Wisconsin is taking the Huskers to the woodshed. Ouch.

Rich, Nebraska could outscore Wisconsin 33 to 0 in the second half.

Theoretically.

Clarice,

Just pulled up the Satellite shot from out companies excellent weather service. That storm looks very ugly, bright red on my computer, and when I hit the button that moves it in a time lapse sequence over the last few hours it shows it is heading dead on for airport PTKR, (KOROR PALAU). I think they are going to need some prayers.

"ELIGIBILITY CHALLENGE RETURNS TO HAUNT FLORIDA

The case earlier this year was dismissed by Circuit Judge Terry Lewis, who said Obama’s eligibility could not be challenged at that time because under Florida election law, technically, Obama hadn’t been nominated to the position.

As WND reported, Michael Voeltz, who identifies himself as “a registered member of the Democratic Party, voter and taxpayer in Broward County,” had challenged Obama’s eligibility, arguing that the “natural born citizen” clause was rightly understood in historical context to mean a child not only born in the U.S., but born to two American-citizen parents, so as not to have divided loyalties. Obama, however, readily admits to being born a dual citizen because of his father’s British citizenship.

In his decision then, Lewis noted that the United States Supreme Court has concluded that “every person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, becomes at once a citizen of the United States.”

However, attorney Larry Klayman, who is representing Voeltz, said, “The judge equated being a ‘citizen’ with a ‘natural born citizen’ and cited no authority to conclude the two terms are the same. He quotes other state’s cases, where judges reached that conclusion, but that’s not precedent for him. What other courts said in lower cases means nothing to him.”

Klayman also had been concerned that the judge determined the burden of proof that Obama is ineligible fell on Voeltz – but then refused to authorize discovery in the case which could have confirmed that eligibility status."

Jim R, that means back to the rose Bowl I guess. The wolverine goes to the UCLA lab school and my husband got a rise out of her this morning when he said Stanford had creamed the UCLA lab school. She was very indignant that it was UCLA, not her elementary school that was beaten.

He did leave his feet to hit the Wisconsin player, and he used far more force than necessary.

Soon enough, the Dems will propose a legislative "fix" for this problem. This is the kind of thing Bob Michel would have happily agreed to. One of my last, gasping, dying hopes for the GOP is that they will say "this is your baby. You wanted it, and you got it. Don't expect us to help you out of your mess."

The death of common sense continues.

In Bethel, Alaska (population 6,080) the Post Office has been forced to change their policy because of a complaint.

"Usually the process of getting packages is relatively simple: the postal worker at the counter calls for all the slips from customers in line and goes back to get all the packages. That is until recently when a complaint changed the whole process."

Bethel Postmaster Alan Murphy said a customer filed a formal complaint with the Anchorage PO saying that he or she disapproved of this method.

Murphy said the person was not satisfied with customers not getting their packages in the order of where they were in line.

So Murphy said the Anchorage Office told him to instruct his employees to collect the slips and deliver the packages one at a time.

“It’s in the post office manual. It’s first come first serve,” Murphy said."

I'm moving to Palau.

Frau Regenmantel

Thanks, Elliot. My first marriage--the civil one-- was 14 Nov 1956 performed in the Cologne city hall, the oldest one in Germany. The officiating bureaucrat had a difficult time pronouncing "Gardner," my family name.

The religious ceremony was done 1 Dec 1956 at the Knechtsteden Abbey (a former Premonstratensian abbey in Dormagen outside Cologne). Boy, was it cold.

narciso

Hey, Danube, how far have you gotten with 'Back to Blood' it's kind of a long slog, unlike Cryptonomicon,

Danube of Thought on IPad

Here's a plausible scenario: the Florida judge will agree with Klayman, declare Obama ineligible for the presidency, and order him removed from office. The Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court will affirm.

There are actually people in this country who really expect that this could happen. If I were to tell them that they were utterly insane, and explain in detail why their hopes are entirely in vain, they would refuse to believe me. So I won't. I'll just tell them the outcome in advance, so that maybe down the road they'll begin to pay attention.

I just wonder why one man has made this forum a clearinghouse for birther goofballism. I think it diminishes JOM.

RichatUF

Oh...but shouldn't it be over the last 3 games. The graph was from OMB...so it was some WH talking points that got into IBD.

The Dems can't be comforted with the fact they won. They now have to humiliate their adversaries. Look at the proposal on the table ($160 billion in new taxes and more stimulus spending), a proposal so ridiculous that the out going Treasury secterary was laughed at.

Danube of Thought on IPad

"However, attorney Larry Klayman, who is representing Voeltz, said, 'The judge equated being a ‘citizen’ with a ‘natural born citizen’ and cited no authority to conclude the two terms are the same."

Actually, the judge equated being a "citizen AT BIRTH" with being a natural born citizen.

But I'll leave it to the dopes to figure out why they were wrong after they lose again. I personally don't care if they ever do: there's some high entertainment to be had in watching the invincibly ignorant batter their heads against a wall.

In the meantime, I urge visitors and newcomers to JOM to recognize that it is really only one obsessed individual who keeps bringing this stuff up here. No other poster at JOM ever links to such websites as "Obamareleaseyourrecords."

RichatUF

TK-

I find the links and the subject annoying. I don't read them nor do I care to. The simplest solution was to get about 65 million people to look at their own personal circumstances and the circumstances of their communities and have them vote for Romney. Many did, but not enough. No amount of wishful thinking or legal wizardry is going to undo the damage of the last 4 years or the continuing damage of the next 4. Going over the same well tilled ground is unproductive, and frankly, at this point, rude to others here who have asked you to stop.

Frau Hochzeitstag

I'll try one last time to show the Cologne city hall. The last one showed in preview and then disappeared with post.
