There will come a day when sugary sodas are utterly stigmatized.
There will come a day when no responsible adult will consume a soda pop, or give one to a child.
But this is not that day. This day, we fight!
FILM AT ELEVEN: Prior to the judges ruling AllahPundit had a post mocking the absurdity of Bloomberg's new sugar inspectors with their bespoke 17 ounce measuring cups. However, he overlooked this classic video of a Sugar Inspector on the beat, with a memorable reaction to overly sweet coffee.
Bloomberg is an ass!

Meanwhile, I just went to get diet coke from the dispenser in the lunchroom and it dispensed a cup of regular. There will come a day when they fix it, but this day will have to switch to the unsweetened iced tea.

"The board may supervise and regulate the city's food supply when it affects public health, but the City Charter clearly outlines when such steps may be taken: According to Judge Tingling, the city must face imminent danger due to disease."
But, your honor, it does face imminent danger from the disease of Statism, Fascism and Bloombergism.

"we're not banning anything. We call it portion control"
This kind of comment, along with Jan Schakowsky's comments on the true agenda of the gun banners shows just how anti-Constitutional the American Left is today.
They regularly use the Constitution as toilet paper. They are out and out statists with zero respect for our nation's laws and our rights and liberties.

Matt- @ 5:18 I agree with your take completely.
Posted by: NK | March 11, 2013 at 05:22 PM
matt,
I think its only going to get resolve by a death cage match. Really. I see no other way since we have at least 50% of the electorate (i.e. citizens) who feel this way is honky-dory.
The civil war was fought over the same tramplings and exerctions of freedom and liberty. Don't want to see it happen but we are gingerly creeping closer and closer to both cultural and political conflict ala Venezuela and Argentina.
Imagine Michelle singing "Don't Cringe for Me, America".

clever. I'll be binge drinking in a few hours. Won't help but who cares.

matt-one of the Leftist schemers whose blueprints I have read in the last 2 weeks actually wrote that no generation should have an ability to bind a subsequent generation when it comes to how the Constitution is viewed. No need to amend. Just change how it is viewed. Which this stupid Civic Mission of the Schools does a great job of defining everything in terms of Dewey's idea of democracy. I am so tired of people who call themselves conservative signing on to policy initiatives without reading documents involved because they like the idea. And just assume the definitions are consistent with their assumptions.

Right you are, matt. Portion control. Does Bloomberg see himself as a cafeteria worker?
Posted by: Clarice | March 11, 2013 at 05:52 PM
Is there any possibility that the costs of appealing the ruling can be charged to Bloomberg's personal account, vs. making tax payers fund both the appeal and the courts (who we hope rule against it) yet again?

Why the hell do they think the Founders spent months and months praying and arguing and writing about their exact views on our rights?
The Constitution is considered the blueprint for democratic republics; the gold standard.
Despite its imperfections it has been a beacon for the world. This is one reason I despise the Left so. They are antithetical to our values.
Perhaps the muddle has been re-educated to a point of no return, but nevertheless every time someone shouts 'Murica they all join in. What is our American form of government if not the embodiment of our ideals salted with practical realities?
Life, as long as you're not born yet. Liberty, except from drones and an ever more intrusive internet. The Pursuit of Happiness as long as it's in pill form or can be smoked or drunk.Pretty damn pitiful.
And yet the potential for greatness is still alive. We are living with a leadership who really believe that our best days are behind us. This sucks.
I have a copy of the MIT Technology Review in the office. The cover has a picture of Buzz Aldrin and the title. "You promised me Mars colonies. Instead I got Facebook".
Sums it up for me.

Matt, I saw a headline today. Dem Congresswoman says Assault rifles just the beginning.
I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT of Schakowsky. She is a commie, and her husband a felon.
In the irony department, as I turned on the computer just now, I got myself a glass off 7UP/10. Low sugar/low calorie. I "CHOSE" that, as opposed to Obama's choice of choosing for us, and Bloombergs'control "freakishness.

AIG shareholder suit vs US for $25 Billion gets class action status for 5th Amendment violations. (That would be June, 2009, under Timmah!) LUN

MelR-- much as I detest his politics, my firm has been co-counsel with Boies-Shiller for a client. He an his crew are relentless and painstaking. the Discovery in the AIG lawsuit will be delicious. Now we know what Timmie G will be doing the rest of his life... giving depositions.

I regard Trump, with almost the same level of dread as Danube, I know others disagree

Mel,
Of all the people in the Administrartion, i'd love to see Geithner go down some how in a felony if only to put a permanent snark on his face. I can't say that about Holder since I am not a racist. But.

David Boies is absolutely, incandescently brilliant.
Posted by: Danube of Thought iPad | March 11, 2013 at 07:51 PM
A little food for thought via Greta and her tweets:
Fed workers owe $3.5 billion dollars in unpaid taxes in 2011
22.5 thousand postal workers owe 215 million in taxes 2011
congressional staffers owe 10.8 million in taxes from 2011
40 who work in Exec Office (Obama Admin) owe 333,000 in back taxes 2011
Posted by: centralcal | March 11, 2013 at 07:57 PM
Boies may be brilliant, and I hope the suit is successful, but I would expect the government to argue that but for the bailout, the shareholders would have gotten nothing, as AIG would have gone belly up. I suppose the counter would be that even if that were so, it doesn't give the government the right to stab the existing shareholders in the back. Should be interesting.

Bloomberg is nothing but a petty wannabe tyrant who should seek psychological help for his control freak tendencies.
Posted by: Chubby | March 12, 2013 at 02:00 AM
So Bloomberg says if you order a meatlovers extra large pizza that's fine but it can't come with a two-liter coke.
Shouldn't you NOT be able to order a giant pizza then? Perhaps only be able to order two slices per person in the household.
You can allways order two more slices later, but you'd have to think about it...
Posted by: Pops | March 13, 2013 at 06:44 AM
Bloomberg's goal is far more than this; he is a dictator in a business suit. He wants to control his people, drinks, cups, baby formula, and how about cars, number of passengers, frequency of trips. He'll come up with any number of orders and back them up with something that someone somewhere thinks might be reasonable...and he will lead the sheep to slaughter. When will he control our mode of dress and other social aspects. What does it take to fight back against tyranny of any kind?
