This is pretty good - Nothing Makes Liberals Happy

COLBY LEIGH

Thanks for sharing this post with us. It's really an amazing post. Keep posting the good work in future too.

Janet

and I love this post from Rick - It's simply a reflection of the incredible rate of devolution since Lawrence. Things are moving even faster than the rate at which Detroit has turned into Port au Prince.

When figurehead Barack Hussein Obama was elected it was like a giant "GO!"...& every leftist fantasy started to be implemented. Brush aside laws, demonize opponents, & just git 'er done. Who would stop them? Just keep moving ahead.
What are Republicans gonna do?...hold hearings? Hahahahaaa Even if some of the things get turned back a bit - 10 yrs later with a court case - so what? Most of the crap stays.

In that link, Janet, Brandon was right to single out the Michelle Obama comment about "occupying" the White House. She WAS sending a message.

I see that Gov. Scott has called for an investigation into the stomp on Jesus incident - basically saying the apology wasn't good enough and that he needs to know that institutions of higher learning are respecting freedom of religious belief. Good for him.

hit and run

Huh. I saw the headline about the dude who died swinging from an Arch in Utah.

Just got around to reading an article about it. Corona Arch. It's not in Arches National Park, but off a trail you get to on Potash Road outside of Moab.

Years ago, mrs hit and run and I made the trip from Denver to Moab and did some car camping on the Colorado River. One of the days we made the hike out to Corona Arch. The arch is very impressive.

I wanted to climb it. mrs hit and run is afraid of heights. So she waited at the base as I made my way up. I also wanted to explore the area above and behind the arch. She didn't want me to. We argreed that I would intermittently yell as I explored so she would know I was ok. Seemed like a good plan -- in a canyon surrounded by nothing but rock, the echoes should be easy to hear.

Oops.

I was gone for maybe two hours max. But she stopped hearing my voice after about a half an hour after I disappeared from view.

By the time I returned she was shaking and crying nearly uncontrollably. She just knew that I was dead, having fallen and broken my neck. She had spent the previous hour figuring out what she needed to do -- hike out, go to a police or fire station, lead a recovery team (forget the search and rescue team, I was dead) to the place where they would begin the search for my body.

Once she had that down she began planning the funeral. Would it be in Denver? Or Texas? Where would she bury me? Or should she have my remains cremated?

Then she began planning the rest of her life. It was pre-kids, but she would have to quit her job, sell our townhouse and move back in with her parents.

It's one of those things that you think at the time, some day we'll look back on this and laugh. It was 15 years ago. mrs hit and run hasn't yet reached the laugh part of it. If you ever meet her, please don't mention it.

Something to look forward to, Walker is writing a book about the last two years in WI: "Unintimidated: A Governor's Story and a Nation's Challenge," is tentatively scheduled for release late this year. The whackos here are losing their minds over the very idea of it.

NK

Haven't read all comments so if this is redundant apologies. Disgusting Jim Carrey is also a hypocrit of massive proportions-- he employes a bodyguard who is armed with a firearms. But we knew that going in, didn't we.

Oh, and ZH reports that the Ruskies got their money out of Cyprus before the deposit 'haircut'-- mais bien sur.

Russians consider lawsuits over Cyprus losses
Reuters – 4 hours ago.. .

((By Megan Davies and Katya Golubkova

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian businesses and banks that face losses from the European Union's bailout of Cyprus are considering legal action but may have a hard time making a case, say lawyers who are combing through treaties find strategies to recover funds.

Big depositors - many of them Russian - face losses of up to 40 percent as the result of a so-called 'bail-in' to back 10 billion euros ($13 billion) in EU financial aid to stabilize the Cypriot banking system.

"It's worth trying, it's not going to be easy, its not going to be a one-off, 24-hour court case, but the nature of the action itself sounds like expropriation," said Andrey Goltsblat, managing partner at Moscow-based law firm Goltsblat BLP...))

"So far as I know no one has contended that Congress, upon repeal of certain language within the citizenship Naturalization(FTFY) Act of 1790, and enactment of the Naturalization Act of 1795 was exceeding its naturalization power."

And with good reason: in both instances they exercised, under the naturalization clause, the power to declare who shall and shall not be a citizen at birth, just as they have done repeatedly in Title 8 of the U.S. Code. Anyone who wanted to challenge that power was free to do so. With the latter statute they still are. But the loons can't find a reputable lawyer to sign a complaint stating that challenge.

There's a reason for that, and it ain't an MSM conspiracy.

Threadkiller

What congress has never done repeatedly is use the term "natural born citizen" in any law they created. They used it once...they repealed it four years later...and never used it again.

I've got a dumb question. The Congress passed, and Zero signed, another continuing resolution this week, to fund the government through September.

Wasn't the House Rep leadership swearing, after rolling over on Zero's tax increases in December, that they were just preparing for the big fight in March, where they'd use all the leverage they have to force real spending cuts?

What happened to all of that? Did I miss something?

Melinda Romanoff

The losses will surpass 50% of deposits. This is by design.

And the rope by which the EU will suicide. Note the charts at the bottom of Pawel's post. He uses the verb "stampede" quite aptly. Now off to find the appropriate gif.

Clarice, the charts at the bottom are the real nugget in Pawel's piece. The level of deposits in each country that are insured. The ratios will revert to 100 as cash is moved to get under the 100K threshhold, where upon, as matt noted, the goalposts will be moved down to a level that garners the right amount of cash for the crisis du jour. Hollande, truthfully, called it a wealth tax, this is just using the Theodoric of York blood letting to achieve the same ends.

Federal Spending-- there is just too much ignorance everywhere about Federal spending. below are 2 links by Conn Carrol about what the Repub House has done since Jan 2011, and what it can do July 2013 when the debt ceiling is hit again. Bottom line-- about 70% of federal spending is Entitlements (Soc Sec, Medicare/caid, Disability is huge now, food stamps, welfare), PLUS interest on the debt. The Congress appropriates about $1T out of $3.6T spent (approx.) See the links below-- with control of 1/3 of the gov't The House has cut spending, and July Ceiling is coming. In July, nothing will happen on Entitlements, interest on the debt can only go up, so 'Budget' spending will drop. Ryan's Budget is shooting for 2001 spending level (pre-9/11) PLUS inflation-- a good target to cut Leviathan Down. Even with 'Budget Cuts" the Road to national Bankruptcy continues until the Federal Gov't credit runs out and entitlements are cut. That's the Budget reality for the foreseeable future: http://washingtonexaminer.com/conn-carroll-what-the-tea-party-congress-accomplished/article/2525172 -- and -- http://washingtonexaminer.com/morning-examiner-looking-ahead-to-the-next-spending-fight/article/2524884

James D.

Janet, I'd love to go, but I think we'll be at church tonight.

NK

One more thing-- Obummer's failed Sequestration Nightmare campaign will allow for more cuts in July-- the people heard the scaremongering, and were unaffected. There may be some sizable cuts in July to Ethanol/Farm subsidies, 'GreenEnergy' subsidies and the Federal worforce.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

I have long maintained, that despite government attempts to extract maximum pain from any budget controls, the one thing the left fears most is for draconian cuts to go through and the populace waking to find the sky still blue, the roads still paved and their heads still intact.

Once the sky hasn't fallen and government doesn't seem so necessary it's kind of the end of the left.
Too bad so few Republicans get that.

Iggie, what I am afraid of is that The Party of Stupid is incapable of delivering on what should be a totally doable goal, which is to use the bully pulpit to punish the Dems for using the cuts to punish the citizens.

Look, the sequestration in a sound bite: "We had a carefully-constructed plan to cut spending in the places least painful to ordinary Americans. Mr. Obama insisted that HE be given sole authority to decide what to cut and what not to cut. So if you think he cut the wrong things -- like White House tours for school kids rather than government subsidies for his rich friends -- you need to vote Democrat senators and representatives out of office so that we can pass a responsible adult budget rather than temper tantrums. And you need to write and call the White House and demand that Mr. Obama stop acting like a 2-yr-old who has been told that the family has run out of candy."

Melinda Romanoff

Ig-

No, the cuts are directly tied to the industry of productive electoral results.

Rick Ballard

Happy Birthday, Cathy.

Mel,

The takeaway from that piece is that the L'Ecole Polytecnique credentialed moronacracy may be even dumber than their Ivy League counterparts. If the European oligarchy has, like the American oligarchy, interbred itself to a level of stupidity where it cannot protect itself, then why should any attempt be made to "save it"?

The EUrocommies and their US Demcommie counterparts are going to do a lot of damage prior to bankruptcy but I don't see a particularly high value to protecting cretinous oligarchs from reaping their just reward.

Haven't got any prices for logs yet so don't know if lumber price increases have reached raw log prices yet. They didn't last year because it was the first year in a while that a lot of mills became profitable again. Maybe if they're actually making a little "overhead" as Barry might call it they can pass a little along to we poor timber owners.

Melinda Romanoff

I fully understand not wanting to reward thiev, I mean oligarchs, for their actions but the complete destruction of trust in government to prevent payment for the cuteness of credit regulation of the last 20 years by Euroklepts might just be one step too far for even me. Sometimes, the arrogance of the unelected can take your breath away.

MelR-- the 'European Experiment' was always about running everything with 'technocrats'. Its inception is understandable-- the Charlemagne 'Divine Right of Kings' ultimately led to the slaughter on Flanders' Fields in the West and to Lenin in the East; 'democracy' led to Hitler, Mussolini and whatever number of French republics-- so, by the 1950s the 'technocrats' in Europe (as in MITI-dominated Japan) had alot of cred. Course, with the creation of the EU Parliament and ECB, those Technocrats morphed into grasping-corrupt crony rent seekers. That's the killer of every centralized system. The way back? I don't see one for Europe- the USA? we'd all be well-served to re-read 'Black Swan'. The trend to an overly centralized USA is a disaster too long in the making-- Real federalism is a way back for the USA..

Chubby

((BC anchor calls DOMA the EPITOME (as in Epi-TOAM) of big govt. #facepalm))

imv the epitoam :) of big government is government using its power to force laws on the people that the people don't want. when a government merely reiterates in a statute its support for a principle that the people have voluntarily and unprotestingly practiced since since the first day of nation's founding, and even before that, I can't see that a something forced on the people by "big government".

Threadkiller

MmmmmHmmmmm!!!

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

The left's project as it has been from time immemorial is the destruction of traditional God-centered civilization and its replacement with their secular, man (read self) centered dystopia.

Hence the tremendous value in being a knee-jerk reactionary; because everything the left is for should be fought hammer and tong as inherently wrong and harmful.
Even in the handful of cases where they are on the right side of any issue, they are there for the wrong reason and any common cause can be no better than a temporary marriage of convenience with evil, like Stalin joining the allies.

NK

Last years's articles about the Obamacare decision should be a good guide of when Prop 8 will be handed down-- (unless the appeal is dismissed for procedural reasons-- that could happen much sooner)
