New York's new gun laws are already creating consternation and confusion. The Blaze tells us of a NY man who was ordered to give up his guns because he is on anti-anxiety medicine (which introduces some medical privacy questions).
Rochester YNN follows up:
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thursday, a state Supreme Court Judge ruled guns seized from David Lewis, 35, must be returned to him after he was incorrectly identified as violating the mental health provision of the SAFE Act.
"We know that from the health care agency to the State Police, there was some kind of breach," said Lewis' attorney, Jim Tresmond.
Tresmond says his client was ordered to turn in his weapons last week because he was once on anti-anxiety medication, which is a violation of the SAFE Act. Wednesday, State Police informed the Erie County Clerk's Office that it made a mistake when it said Lewis was in violation of the state's new gun law.
Ooops. The State Police are engaged in a bit of finger-pointing:
In a statement, State Police say they were simply following the law. The statement says, in part:
"The State Police was very clear in its letter to the Clerk's Office regarding the need for due diligence and the need for a positive identification by the County before they removed any weapon. The final determination on whether to revoke or suspend a pistol permit or license rests solely with the County and the licensing officials."
"My impression still stands from when they called last night – they made a mistake," said County Clerk Chris Jacobs.
My impression is that this will get zero coverage.
LESS THAN ZERO: Ok, this is non-coverage.
Listening to all the media hype this morning tell us that Polls show that 90% of all Americans want this background check Legislation.
it strikes me that with our Media, if we were to take a Poll as to who is the most offensive Black Doctor in America this week, Polls would answer Ben Carson, the disinvited Commencement Speaking Homophobe from Johns Hopkins, and not mass murdering abortionist Kermit Gosnell.
I think it would be interesting to compare the comments made about the 2 Doctors by members of the Media just this week.
For instance, here's Bill Maher:
""It turns out that Ben Carson is as stupid as every other conservative hero...I kind of like that Dr. Ben is both an amazingly talented neurosurgeon and a drooling moron," Maher wrote. "Because people need to be reminded that doctors (and other 'professionals' like lawyers) can be just as stupid as everybody else."
And here's his comments on Gosnell. " "
Etc.

Don't forget the story I linked to on another thread about the soldier stationed at Ft. Hood and lives in Temple, TX who had his lawfully owned and borne rigle confiscated by the local police because someone saw him with and was "alarmed". For that reason only, the police used that as justification to take his weapon.
Texas. Not New York. Not California. Not Connecticut. Texas.

Those medical privacy questions will of course disappear once Obamacare is implemented. Privacy? That is where the Constitutional Sacrament of Abortion comes from, Silly; it has nothing to do with actual health care or, god forbid, whether the State should permit you to bear arms.

There have been more eye popping stories of Leftist madness in the past few weeks than at any time in the history of the Republic.
The madness of the immigration plan; the utter depravity of the president and his allies on the gun control bill; the EPA's rampage against conventional energy; the growing number of green energy frauds. The Gosnell non-event. It just goes on and on.
And nowhere in the muddle is there any outrage.
The McConnell wiretap brings plaudits from the MSM for Corn's audacity in stenography.
It is a very sick society we live in and we must resist against this evil any way we can.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to the Bishops objections to the birth control mandate?

I've really had enough of these Newtown people. They've made themselves public figures, they made themselves part of Team Dem, they should be treated as such. Let's talk about how the swells in Town, including some of these families and some of the dead school staff no doubt, treated Adam as a freak to be ridiculed and then ignored. Unfortunately for them, the little freak was a homicidal maniac and they were irrevocably hurt. These newton families demand that the rest of the world has to lose freedoms because their smug little town marginalized a kid who turned out to be a maniac. These people have too much self-regard. They should shut up and suffer in silence-- that's what they told the Lanzas to do.

If by chance you were wondering about the differences between our First Lady and Miss Mexico, this link will clear that up for you, but allow me to post a bit of it.
Differences
One of the largest differences between these two women is the legacy they’ll build as first ladies of their countries. Before her husband took office, Obama was already known for her intelligence; she worked under Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Even so, she had to work to make her role as first lady a meaningful and involved position. She’s carved out her niche promoting healthy foods and eating for families and their children, and even authored a book about the White House garden and gardens across America.
Rivera, on the other hand, might have a harder time moving beyond her celebrity to be taken seriously as a first lady who’s more than just a figurehead. Unlike Obama and her predecessor in Mexico, Margarita Zavala, sitting President Felipe Calderon’s wife, Rivera doesn’t have a prestigious intellectual career on which to build her own policy initiatives.
FWIW the statements "Obama was already known for her intelligence" and "Prestigious Intellectual Career" are both bolded in the original story in order to make sure you don't miss it.

The biggest problem for Democrats on gun control is Democrats.
Brian Walsh explains
Just a sample:
"As newly-elected Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp tells the New York Times today in explaining why she disagrees with the gun control lobby despite entreaties from several Newtown families:
"In our part of the country, this isn't an issue...This is a way of life. This is how people feel, and it is extraordinarily difficult to explain that, especially to grieving parents." Bottom line, she said, "I'm going to represent my state."
Posted by: Jack is Back (Again)! | April 12, 2013 at 04:32 PM
That case has gotten a lot of coverage around here, TC, and it's a strange one. The guy sounds like a real jerk (which isn't a crime or we'd be one giant penal colony) and I've never figured out what his point is because the Amish aren't exactly Schooooomer-esque in their demeanor. I think they'd have rather handled it internally but it just got out of hand. Imo the hate crime statute would be ill applied here although I'm not a fan of it ever being used.

matt, it was a bit stranger than that. First of all, yes to everything you said on the hate crime nonsense; that it was even contemplated shows a disturbing mindset permeating the entire DOJ. Second, shunning was probably attempted but the perps kept insinuating themselves back into the community; kind of like a breakaway sect who refuses to break away. Finally, every photo I saw of the accused made him look like he wasn't right in the head or was doing it for a lark. Keep in mind that the Amish are continually beset with how to deal with the modern world of Yankees and family trees that are shaped like telephone poles.

With Mengele, once the US Press found out about it, they publicized it as horrible. With Gosnell, the US Press know it's horrible, so they refuse to publicize it.
Other than that I don't see a difference.

daddy, they're still a considerable presence in towns like Middlefield and Berlin so they're not in any immediate danger. They seem to be pretty smart so I imagine they're not unaware of the perils they face and probably have thought out ways to deal with it while still remaining true to their culture. I've had nothing but positive experiences interacting with them so the last thing I want to do is be inadvertently condescending or patronizing toward them.

The Amish have been around since around 1639, and began coming to this country in the early 1700s. According to wiki:
As of 2000, over 165,000 Old Order Amish live in the United States and approximately 1500 live in Canada.[5] A 2008 study suggested their numbers have increased to 227,000,[6] and in 2010 a study suggested their population had grown by 10% in the past two years to 249,000, with increasing movement to the West.[1]
Over the centuries, many former Amish (including many of my ancestors on both sides of the family) have broken off and been absorbed into less strict protestant denominations such as Mennonites, Brethren, Lutheran, etc.

Amish in our area aree growing but are in the news because their iron wheels are hard on the roads and the horse manure in the road seems to bother some people.

matt -
There's this from Jan. 2011 @ Philly.com-
"The bigger the baby, the more he charged; his fees ranged from $325 to $3,000 per abortion, Williams said. Anesthesia was additional, although he and his staffers would "sedate to stupor" patients who screamed or moaned too loudly, according to the report. Investigators estimated that Gosnell's salary for one year was $1.8 million."
and
"That's because Gosnell routinely destroyed his files, according to the grand-jury report."
So I'm not sure they know much.

It really has been a disheartening week, the response to Thatcher's death, the pathetic RINO
collapse, not surprising but dissappointing nonetheless.

When it comes to the GOP, failure is always an option.
And they wonder why I will not support any of their causes financially. If you want to support then do it by individual candidates and causes. But we really need to send a message to the GOP, either fight and be mean about it or go to the Koch Brothers regularly but we are out of money for your cowardice.

This is tacky but...
In the picture with this article they didn't bother to digitize the girl with the bozo nose's boob.
Is that an insult?
Digitize those girls boobs...but just leave Sad Bozo's boob showing...nobody cares.

"Who the hell is Amanda Marcotte?"
The woman (formerly of Pandagon) who has the distinction of being thrown off the Edwards campaign team for anti-Catholic blogs.
Imagine being not clean enough for Edwards.

Take our Florida delegation please, for every right thing they do, they do something stupid like pledge another 100 million for another stadium, and apparently let Citizen's hike our insurance another 30-50%, 'winning the future'

Generally speaking, I will not contribute my money that I have earned to PATHETIC REPUBLICAN PANSIES. Just a general rule. I think Jack concurs.

The GOP is not Conservative. It's not that the Party is afraid, it's just that the GOP is full of limp dixed losers who lack balls.
