Obama does not intend to trip over any red lines:
Obama Not Rushing to Act on Signs Syria Used Chemical Arms
WASHINGTON — President Obama said Friday that he would respond “prudently” and “deliberately” to evidence that Syria had used chemical weapons, tamping down any expectations that he would take swift action after an American intelligence assessment that the Syrian government had used the chemical agent sarin on a small scale in the nation’s civil war.
And who among us can object to prudence and deliberation? On the other hand...
But Mr. Obama is also trying to preserve his credibility after warning in the past that the use of chemical weapons would be a “game changer” and prompt a forceful American response.
“Knowing that potentially chemical weapons have been used inside of Syria doesn’t tell us when they were used, how they were used,” Mr. Obama told reporters in the Oval Office. “We have to act prudently. We have to make these assessments deliberately.”
“But I meant what I’d said,” the president added. “To use potential weapons of mass destruction on civilian populations crosses another line with respect to international norms and international law. And that is going to be a game changer.”
Presidential talk should not be so cheap.
Duh.

Has he called in Powell yet? Or fat boy Plame and his file clerk? That should work.

"Presidential talk should not be so cheap."
I suppose I might agree with that as a generality but the instance at hand requires some evidence of the existence of someone, somewhere in the world, who actually relies upon words uttered by President Red Lyin'.
Is further debasement of the office which he holds actually possible?
Posted by: Rick Ballard | April 27, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Well remember Plame was all about misdirection, tantamount to the DIA analyst, who tried to make it look like the Iranians were responsible for Halabja,

Chemical munitions leak, so just deployment is going to create casualties for people near to transports or distributed storage sites (artillery batteries, etc). The line that should have been drawn was withdrawl from the ammo dumps of the munitions, but that presumes that Assad Alawites actually controlled all those dumps still.
But we didn't draw the right line so some casualties became inevitable, including the US's shortsighted Syrian policies.

Our first sequester brush fire has begun about 4 miles north of me. 1 hour later and no air support.
They say that the tower in Ramona was spared so this may just be California's patented government laziness.

in re Plame/Wilson
US policies in SW Asia in the 1990s was all about misdirection, except for USAF trying to enforce the no-fly zone. When GWB got really clear about doing something there, all the wonks in the CIA and DeptState saw their circular arguments go up in smoke.
Ironically, GWB found out that sometimes in the Mideast, circular results are all you can get (Palestinian states, and the like). But that didn't make CIA artifacts like V Plame or her Ambassador hubby right either.

We know when Quaradawi, of Doha, yell, he says how high, but after Libya and events stateside, he has to be a little more circumspect.

I'm less concerned about them not being right, and more concerned with them spreading enemy propaganda in the middle of a war. Sometimes the means are the ends, and horsewhipping is too good for 'em.

Obama has no intention of honoring any red line statements. He doesn't even know what a redline is. And yes ,I stand corrected. Between 80,000 and 90.000 civilians have been killed We are at the Rwanda stage right now.

I really enjoyed Iggy's installment today of his pursuit and conquest of the lovely Susan. The description of his religious awakening was both touching and hilarious.
Nice that the multi-named troll seems to be quarantined on the other thread today. When will the attendants notice that she/he/it has been sneaking unauthorized online time?

Carlos Slim's dancing primates magazine section has an article about a disgraced Dutch scientist who faked data, Diederik Stapel. The author refers to the subject as an audacious fraud. The Article is entitled, "The Mind of a Con Man." Wonder if the Slimes will ever wake up to another certain con man?

Who wants to send American troops into this dog fight? Obama can read the polls. If anything, the war song hurts the GOP even more than it is hurting now.

You're thinking of "The Mind of a Con - Mann". You'll never see it in the New York Skydragon Times.

Narciso, I started reading the story on your link, and it seemed so absurd to me from the get go, that I had a hard time getting through it. Obama has NO CLUE. He isn't weighing various policy options. Much like your aforementioned Solon of Scranton, Obama is a BLOW HARD. Obama's game is control. Marxist power grabbing control. It's 100% internal. He has ZERO CLUE about foreign policy. LITERALLY.

About the only thing Obama has done right is keeping us out of Syria. Why should we support the throat slitting, head chopping rebels? Because a clown like John McCain says so?
