Yike:
(Reuters) - The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a massive blow to their NBA title hopes on Friday when All-Star guard Russell Westbrook was ruled out indefinitely because of upcoming surgery on his right knee.
...The top-seeded Thunder, who won the Western Conference last season, are widely regarded as the biggest challengers to the NBA champion Miami Heat during this campaign.
That is oxygen for the Spurs, but I don't think anyone stops LeBron's freight train this year.
Grrrrr....,I hate King James.

I got nothin for the Thunder after Ibaka nut-punched Blake Griffin earlier in the season. No class.

I like Durant. After the Mavs didn't make it I don't care except I really want King James to lose.

Are there more serious injuries in the NBA now than in olden times, like 2 or 3 years ago? If so, why? Steroids?

I really like Russell Westbrook; why can't this injury happen to Douche Wade and see if LeBron can carry a team to the title. Dammit.
I don't think the injuries are steroid related. Kobe was playing too many minutes under that idiot D'Antoni.
LOL at the Jets second round choice. They now have 4 QBs of which Tebow is probably the best

I was lucky enough to see a number of games up at Pauley Pavilion with Westbrook, Love, Collison and Mbah a Moute and considered it just a step below the old Alcindor and Walton teams for the one season they were together.
These kids are twice as strong as they were back in the day and the pressure they put on their joints is incredible. The level of conditioning and the focus are incredible.
Kobe calls the shots on the Lakers, so it was on Kobe to back off on minutes. His drive is among the most incredible in the history of the game, so I am not surprised his achilles finally gave way. an achilles is one of those completely unpredictable injuries, so I hope he will be able to play again.
Chauncey had the same issue and is only now coming back. If anyone can it is Kobe.

Just FYI,
They cancelled some legs on my current trip, so I am heading home commercially on a Chinese Airline, and at the bottom of the E-mail generated ticket I just received I notice this verbiage:
Duration: 12 hour(s) and 30 minute(s) Non-stop
Status: Confirmed - China Southern Airlines Record Locator: XXXXXX
Meal: Dinner, Dinner, Dinner
Equipment: Airbus Industrie A380-800 Passenger
Seat: Assigned at Check-in
Distance: 7226 miles
CO2 Emissions: 2,702.52lbs/1,228.42kgs
Have I somehow missed this CO2 Emissions nonsense, and if so is this scam actually being applied in some form as a tax to the price of my tickets? Beats me.

I hate to say it, but I think TM is right about the Heat.
At least the Knicks are (barring an epic collapse) going to win their first playoff series in 13 years, so that's something.

LOL at the Jets second round choice. They now have 4 QBs of which Tebow is probably the best
Don't the people running the Jets remind you of the people running the administration?
They've got a QB who underperforms and can't do the job required of him. So, last summer, what do they do? Grossly overpay him with a massive contract extension with enough guaranteed money that it makes it impossible to trade him.
The ink is barely dry on the new contract when they trade for Tebow, which can only create controversey, since he plays the same position as the guy they just gave all the money to. Then they don't use Tebow at all, throwing away whatever fan interest or goodwill (or football talent) he might have brought to the team.
And now they draft another QB, who may be terribly overrated, and have attitude problems.
If Zero ran a football team, that's about what he'd do, isn't it? Overpay for things that are useless and don't work...

And now they draft another QB, who may be terribly overrated, and have attitude problems.
He's undersized like Sanchez and played in some gimmicky offense that got thoroughly exposed by some Big 12 teams. The Tebow move was extremely dumb even by Jet standards; I've yet to see one aspect of it that made sense.

daddy,
It appears the Chinese implemented a calculator to determine the precise cost of the EU proposed Dragonbreath Fees for airlines. The deteriorating world economy made implementation unfeasible - at this time.
Take a look at the "study" linked by RSE to get a glimpse of our unionized make work future. Remember - all the peasants we're proposing to import need to keep their hands busy and their union dues current.
Skoot,
The Baucus decision to let the cup pass seems to have unleashed proglodyte criticism of Ear Leader. Perhaps proglodytes should be encouraged to peruse the last chapters of Phaedo to assuage their fears of what the future holds for them?

Anyway...got to thinking that before Palin & Bachmann & others....there was the over-the-top hatred & tearing down of Schlessinger. Who else? Anita Bryant? I wasn't political then, but I can remember the stories. Boy, the left really hates certain people.

I just finished tracking this all as a back door means to make the 21st century the century of social democracy globally. Even got the acknowledgment that is what all the references to lifelong learning are about.

I will pay your way.
After your arrival I will even drive you to the hospital myself.
Posted by: Ignatz | April 27, 2013 at 01:19 PM
BTW, JiB, I responded to your response a few days ago, but you might have missed it.
Posted by: Manuel Transmission | April 27, 2013 at 01:52 PM
Icky @ 1:19 pm today - Okay, but first you will blow me.
(sigh) Icky, Icky, Icky, some people would say that since you had dug yourself into a deep enough hole at 9:42 am today already, you really, really should have stopped digging.
Other than making a complete fool out of yourself and providing definitive proof that you are certifiably psychotic, what could you possibly have hoped to have accomplished with your empty threats at 9:42 an and at 1:19 pm today?
BTW, by proclaiming their solidarity with you, Jack and Rose showed that they are as slimy and as unstable as you are. But we already knew that. Like you, they aren't even rational.
Posted by: Brian | April 27, 2013 at 05:40 PM
Holly @ 11:45 am - ;)
Posted by: Brian | April 27, 2013 at 05:45 PM
I haven't made any threats. They're a sincere invitation.
It's easy to mouth off on the internet.
I'll set up an email account you can write to and I will give you detailed instructions on where to meet me.
Once here I will reimburse you for your traveling expenses and then you can say anything you'd like about my wife to my face.
I'm sure a guy with a mouth like yours can back up what he says and I'm sure he'd be eager to do so in person rather than through this impersonal method.
What have you got to lose?
Posted by: Ignatz | April 27, 2013 at 05:55 PM
You don't have a wife, or even a girlfriend,
you loony. So it is a moot issue, Sir Daffy.
Posted by: Brian | April 27, 2013 at 06:05 PM
Come on out and meet her or in the alternative you can prove I'm a liar.
What are you afraid of? Meeting her or saying what you like to say here without consequence, to my face?
The offer stands and is quite sincere. I look forward to you taking me up on it and not just being one of those all-talk paper internet tigers.

Getting back to the OP, Kevin Durant is doing his best to carry the team in Westbrook's absence. It probably won't ultimately be enough but he is one incredible player.

You are so right, Brian. Itchy is around the bend.

He is soooooo creepy. He gives me the shivers.
Posted by: Holly | April 27, 2013 at 11:45 PM
Holly, even though I'm paying the fare you are invited also. I'm pretty sure the airlines will let you both ride in the same seat, especially with a note from your doctor.
But enough with all the ditzy internet chatter.
A guy as opinionated and outgoing as your friend and roommate Brian must be used to spirited first hand discussions.
I've had one JOM meetup and found it quite fun.
If your very close friend Brian is really as outgoing in person as he is when typing safely behind a monitor I think I would enjoy my second meetup a great deal more.
What do you say?
Posted by: Ignatz | April 28, 2013 at 09:43 AM
WTF? You're still here?
Why not, I suppose? You're a lonely, lecherous and dirty old man who wants somebody, anybody to talk with you.
I'm sure that your crazy remarks make perfect sense to you and to the other crazies here, but they won't make sense to any rational people.
You are soooo weird.
