Appalled

Birthers may not be going anywhere. Can't say I'm surprised. The whole global warming thing kind of demonstrates that a lot of very smart people will believe an outlandish theory, if it dovetails with their prejudices, doesn't it?

Dave (in MA)

Uh, oh. Could tip over.

Dave (in MA)

The bastard can't resurrect into Hawaii soon enough.

hit and run

Take out the definite article "the", and I would answer the poll question in the affirmative.

Porchlight

Since we're passing time, totally OT:

I would like to report a microtrend in urban landscaping.

The hipsters are placing sets of two chairs in their front yards.

Well, that's not very newsworthy, you say. After all people have liked to sit and watch the world go by since time immemorial, right?

The difference is, they are now placing the chairs so that they are facing the house.

That's right folks. These people want to sit with their backs to the sidewalk/street and admire their own home.

Still only happening at a handful of houses that I've seen in my neighborhood, but the number is growing.

bgates

The hipsters are placing sets of two chairs in their front yards.

Twice as racist as Clint Eastwood.

Gus

I'm sorry, but although I thin TK goes to far sometimes (and that is my humble opinion only), who among you is honestly satisfied with any of the PACKS OF LIES about Obama's past??? Before you start the birther beat down, take a moment to ask yourself why Obama has so many hidden secrets and so many disjointed lies?
I'm not saying he wasn't born in Aug 61 in Hawai'i, I'm saying that 2 down is more likely to find you 3 across, than calling TK a BIRTHER will do nothing but give Obama cover for 3,4,5 and six across.

Gus

Bgates? If you are talking about a homosexual "statement", the MALES put their chairs in the BACK YARD.

NK

This is the most stunningly hilarious thing I've seen in ages; The Left are proud of the fact that 13% of Obama voters either flat out believe or are open to the possibility that Obama is the Anti-Christ, and yet they vote for him anyway. They aren't LIV-- they are just LOW voters.

Rob Crawford
why Obama has so many hidden secrets and so many disjointed lies?

Because his real political beliefs are from the farthest of the far left and it's easier to let people hunt for truffles in birth certificate records than to explain his educational, professional, and political background.

See also "LA Times, videotapes held by".

Old Lurker

Two chairs in the yard ain't nuthin.

How about two bathtubs?

cathyf

How about a toilet, with flowers planted in the bowl and flowers and vines planted in the tank?

RichatUF

Humm how about a tree growing through a car.

Evening all. Saw this article at CNBC:

New Silicon Valley headquarters or expansions are under way at most of the area's major firms, including eBay, Intel, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Netflix, Nvidia and Oracle. Many will be huge: Apple Corp.'s 176-acre campus will be one of the world's largest workplaces. On the outside, many of the new buildings boast striking architectural designs and will collectively be among the most environmentally friendly in the country. Inside, there are walls you can draw on, ping pong tables, Lego stations, gaming arcades and free haircuts.

Isn't it usually a sign of a top in an industry when a building spree like this occurs? At the very least, it seems to be unreality.

RichatUF

Porch-

That's strange. Any ideas as to why?

RichatUF

Steady OL!

Thomas Collins

So, why is Sun Tzu Obama moving all these anti-missile missiles around to protect South Korea and our Pacific territory? Isn't Obama one of the Dems who scoffed at missile defense when he was in the Senate? At the very least, he scoffed at missile defense for Poland against the Russkies who, last time I checked, had a few more BIG ONES than the NoKos.

bgates

If you are talking about a homosexual "statement"

I don't know what that means, nor why my comment would lead you to type those words.

Thomas Collins

Now, now. This is a family blog. At this rate, we'll be referencing chairs in back doors.

Rob Crawford

RichatUF, correct, a brand new headquarters building is associated with near term decline. Maybe caused by distraction, maybe caused by smugness overload, maybe urban legend.

An unseriousness too. Insty had a link up to a Washingtonian article about the "permaturn". Those unlucky 20 somethings that are drifting among food service, unpaid or extremely low paid internships, and school. An interesting contrast.

Sorry bgates. I can't keep up with the liberal crisis du jour, the coordinated liberal smear the right subject du jour if you will.
I thought you might have meant....2 chairs in the front yard, in reference to our liberal friends current homosexual marriage urgent crisis. We have wars on women, tea baggers, bigot, every couple days a new poll tested LIBERAL/AXLEROD/OBAMA attempt to marginalize anyone who isn't "on message". Carry on.

Extraneus

Well ok, nobody here, so I'll add this:

The biggest chunk of money in the Sandy bill was $16 billion for HUD community block grants. Of that, about $12.1 billion will be shared among Sandy victims as well as those from other federally declared disasters in 2011-13. The remaining $3.9 billion was solely for Sandy-related projects.

Those grants can pay for rebuilding roads and hospitals, other public works projects, helping small businesses reopen, restoring utilities and providing rental subsidies. The grants are popular with state and local governments because of their flexibility on how the money is spent.

I'm sure they're popular, but did Sandy destroy roads and hospitals?

X% of the population are hard core Leftists who will deny anything as long as it advances their agenda. Y% are so clueless they can't understand the poll questions. Z% are so stoned on high grade pot they are sure they saw zebras lurking outside. W% are low information voters who get most of their information from TMZ and Perez Hilton. And on the other side of the dial there is AA% who think the commies are coming over the wire.

Is it any wonder the poll results are so whacked out?

henry

Matt, add (subtract) the H, I, J, K% who hang up, ignore, lie to, or prank polls to your mix.

Jim Eagle

Watching the Yankees v. Red Sox and do they look totally unorganized and without any kind of effort on offense. A little unlucky having their starter making a reflex play and losing the feel in his fingers but outside of that they have major problems. Its so cold even the broadcast crew have gloves on.

Thomas Collins

bgates

In a Budget Gesture, Obama Will Return 5% of His Salary

Super! Now, if he can get another 5.8 million people to give the same amount, next year's deficit should be reduced all the way to...
...five hundred billion dollars.

Higher than it was at any point in our nation's history, except for the first four years of the Obama presidency.

This is a more pathetic stunt than his first cabinet meeting (which may have been his only cabinet meeting), when he asked those crooks to cut a whopping hundred million dollars from their budgets.

Thomas Collins

The Yankees may well be toast this year. But one and one-half games is a little early to be giving up on anyone or promoting anyone as the MVP. Otherwise, I'd say that Jose Iglesias, the Red Sox slick fielding shortstop, who is current hitting .571 with a slugging percentage of .714, is in competition with Yu Darvish for AL MVP.

James D.

TC, I'd agree except that half the Yankee roster is closer to collecting Social Security than thy are to the prime of their careers. It's 1965 all over again.

Obama has yet to work a day in his life. He has NEVER held a job that wasn't in some way subsidized by THE STATE. He has NEVER been held to account for his work ethic or some measurable result. He has a future filled with MILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLIONS of dollars for NOTHING. He is clearly a narcissist, and I believe he is a sociopath. To conclude that Obama was born in Hawaii, it is not necessary to believe a word Obama himself says. It is only necessary to believe two contemporaneous newspaper reports, or two separate seal-bearing certified copies of two different state certificates, or the people who have officially attested to the authenticity of both of them, or the people who have seen and touched them, or the photographs that were taken of them.

To believe he was not born in Hawaii, you must disbelieve not one, but each and all of those sources--every one of them. For example, unless you believe that the newspaper reports were contrived, all the rest is irrelevant. It is not sufficient to believe that it would have been possible to contrive them, you must believe that it actually happened (and it would be nice if you had a shred of evidence to support that belief). Keep that in mind: unless those newspaper reports were in fact corruptly contrived, it is game over for you without going any further.

And if the game ends at that point, it is unnecessary to list all of the separate individuals who necessarily have committed felonies if your disbelief in the other sources is warranted. If you show me some evidence that the newspaper announcements were in fact not genuine, then I will ist for you all the people who have risked disgrace and imprisonment to keep the lie going, all without any benefit to themselves.

Just went and saw the screening of The Searchers at UT that I mentioned a little while ago after you talked about hearing Glenn Frankel on Dennis Miller's show. It was terrific seeing it again and I liked Frankel but of course the discussion afterwards got onto the racism topic just about immediately. "Isn't it just so interesting that the protagonist is racist and thus the film forces us to identify with a racist" etc. I mean this was sophomore-level analysis. More than a few eyes were rolling including my own (it was a gray-haired audience which more than likely included some folks who don't conform to campus politics).

In Frankel's defense it mostly was his interviewer (a UT film prof who I've met who is a nice guy) who took the conversation down that path. I still might read Frankel's book on the movie.

Ouch, hit. That sounds rough. Hope it heals fast.

It never gets that far for some weird reason.
