Mohammed Al Julani, except he was likely from the Golan, we know most recently that Feiz Mohammed, the Lebanese bantam boxing Imam, died with the rebels last year, he was T-Dog's favorite preacher.
I agree. Our media is who I hold responsible. Obama knows he can do anything and get away with it. They took him at his word when he told them to let him eat his waffles.
Jane's observation illustrates the problem for the GOP. The seemingly pathological desire of much of our educated and professional class to live in political ignorance and avoid uncomfortable truths allows the shallow, "can't we all just get along" message of the D's to dominate.
When Amy first came to work for me she had just left a job working for a very liberal state senator who was a friend of mine. It took about 2 minutes to figure out she was conservative, and maybe more conservative than I was at the time. For years we talked politics endlessly.
After the birth of her 2nd child she told me she had to focus her attention on their lives and politics only brought her down. We made a deal that I would tell her what she needed to know, and no more.
I have violated that deal nearly every day since then, which she generally withstands with grace.
I get her point tho. Politics truly bums us out. It is sick, ugly and perverted these days. It is undoubtedly healthier to look the other way.
JIB: OT question. Playing on our very crowded local muni yesterday when a single came up behind us. Our foresome let him play through but let him know he was on a fools errand as it was all foresomes in front with no open holes. The single was insistent that everyone was obligated to let him play through. I know single players are no longer considered non-persons under the rules but was this guy right? I assume there would have to be open holes ahead for him to have a case for his claim.
You are dead on about the media. I've got O'Reilly on in the background, who is interviewing Bernie Goldberg. I swear I know more of what is going on in the world then both of them combined - and I'm not that well informed.
(Bernie Goldberg was the only person I've ever seen booed on an NRO cruise). I relish that memory.
Too bad, I preferred (so to speak) the story that Hillary diverted the security money for green energy. Given this despicable behavior, I'd rather the back story be one that can get legs in the media, and that might have done it.
How much 'juice' does Barry have left... Let's hope and pray the Benghazi hearings awaken the sheep and sharpen their senses, because our 2nd amendment is still in jeopardy:
Fast & Furious had a body count roughly two orders of magnitude higher than Benghazi. The dead were dark-skinned foreigners rather than mostly white Americans connected to the military or the CIA. The correct thing for the Administration to do in Fast & Furious didn't depend on reviewing threat assessments or examining the logistics of deploying military assets several hundred miles over the course of a few hours. Fast & Furious could be reported on at length without the name "Hillary" being mentioned once.
All four of those factors should make F&F a more attractive story for JiB's hypothesized hungry left-wing media than Benghazi, especially for the not-insignificant portion of the press that had a strong preference for Hillary over Obama in 2008 before the Party unified.
So how much of a national scandal is Fast & Furious? And is there any reason to expect Benghazi to get a tenth as much press?
here is the article on anti-terrorism centers. Sounds like Walker is trying to fund them anyway... maybe with money that UW won't get now. Right now they apparently do some good in coordinating LE activities.
On Gomez and Brown. Let's face it. MA is 11/1 democrat. No one other than a Northeast "moderate" GOP candidate has any chance whatever to win a state wide election there. Sorry, Jane but you and my equally conservative brother will be forever frustrated.
I was in law school during Watergate and two of my classmates were Sirica's clerks. I knew immediately what had happened and how it was being covered up. I knew that about Benghazi as well. Only a true believer would have swallowed the Obama story.
It took years for Watergate to spill out and it was on the front page of every important paper. I recall checking my watch to listen to the CBS news on the hour. There was no Internet.
While it is discouraging to see the media ignore this cover up and the crimes involved, it is even more frightening to realize the depth of corruption in the media and government and the consequences to America of this nasty co-operation between brothers at CBS.
I have never trusted the government, even under the GOP. It is a constant threat to individual liberty. The corner on media and the assault on free speech (such as the latest graduation imprecation to reject those who criticize government), must be rejected in the most vigorous manner.
Jane as you know Mass is hopeless. Watertown, the scene of Speedbump and Flashbangs swansong will overwhelmingly vote for Markey; who thinks global warming is the biggest present threat to the country's security.

I get her point tho. Politics truly bums us out. It is sick, ugly and perverted these days. It is undoubtedly healthier to look the other way.
That makes it a very uphill battle.
I think the amount of time I spend on politics is unhealthy; I'd much rather spend it on something else. Unfortunately the country is being run into the sewer by a political party that would be hanging from lamp posts by an educated population that believes in freedom. Hence my quandary.

Yes, but what DoT said before is all that matters: Nixon was a Republican and hated by the press; Obama is protected by being a Dem, the race card, and a media that is far more in the tank than in Nixon's time.
In other words, Obama is in dead girl/live boy territory.

Jane, you've done far more actual work than I have in that area; I feel like a piker by comparison.
Father Hate once ran for the House of Delegates when I was a teenager. Being a Republican he had no chance. I remember feeling disappointed and empty when it was over. It taught me the perils of getting emotionally involved in politics. I've gotten better at keeping it at arms length but some times, like last November, it still gets to me.
Mark I'd forgotten how good Lucas was in tennis. Man did he crash and burn, I mean *really* bad, with drugs only to rise from the ashes and get his life and family back. It's a fairly inspirational story once you get past how stupid he was to get involved with drugs in the first place (although it was very much a product of the times).
The NRA is just an advocacy organization...like thousands of other advocacy organizations. They are not voting Congressmen.
I am pretty sick of politicians & the MFM demonizing Conservative advocacy organizations - NRA, Focus on the Family, The Family Research Council,...

this quote from a Melanie Phillips article fits - "This resort to crude insult against anyone who dares to challenge their shibboleths is typical of the Left.
It doesn’t argue its case. It simply tries to shut down debate by bullying its targets and labelling them as extremists and enemies of humanity in order to frighten people away from listening to them."
They had Nixon's number because he had uncovered Hiss, the very model of an entitled lefty WASP,
he subsequently went after Dean Acheson and Stevenson, the nuanced political statesmen of the era, snarc.
Lebron needs to lose the drama queen act; it's the only negative part of his game. He gets more calls than Jordan ever did. That garbage where he went for X number of quarters without committing a foul was evidence that Donaghy wasn't the only ref on the take. When you play tough D like James does you can't help but commit an inadvertent foul in the course of the game no matter how good your reflexes are.
I think most people still know very little about the Benghazi lies. Just saying.
Agreed, but how will they find out, and in a way that will make them care. It will be continue to be depicted at worst as tragic mistake arising out of confusion and conflicting reports. No coverup, just trying to sort through conflicting information. And how about the courage of that Jason Collins!?
Well since I rubbed it in TC's nose last night, the Cubbies are whoopin' up on my Rangers. So I switch over to watch the Bulls best King James. Not a bad trade off.
Jane, is there any local anger at how the two bombing vermin are being sympathetically covered by the MFM? I know how pissed off I am from about 700 miles away.
There's a big local story in Cleveland tonight as 3 girls who were abducted as teenagers have all been found a decade plus later. They were being held not far from downtown and one of them was able to attract the attention of a neighbor by breaking out a screen. One of the girl's mother has died since her disappearance and she has two children, I assume by her kidnapper. I'm sure there's a lot that will come out.
A major difference with Watergate was that the burglars were squeezed in the criminal justice syatem until they sang, and they sang about many, many additional crimes (breaking into Ellsberg's shrink's office, e.g.). The story was the gift that kept on giving to the ravenous and rabid press. There is no specter of criminal prosecution here (more's the pity), and no real reason to expect that crimes will be revealed.
It was a sleazy, disgraceful act of deceit for purely political purposes, and revoltingly disrespectful of those who were killed (and those who will be at future risk). In today's America that gets you a large yawn.

side note-obama goes to bed. this is a 'who's in charge' moment. somebody had to be in control of the military. surely they had standing orders to 'invade' libya, or 'NOT invade' libya.
was there anyone qualified, legally to order troops, while the president slept? if he isn't 'available', who was running the show?
smaller tangent-
where was biden? he's the type of guy who leads me to believe he enjoys this stuff. was he in the meetings? and while biden might seem the type to enjoy the intrigue, would obama's interest have been piqued, more than slightly, when he was told that the embassy was under attack and the ambassador is missing?
hard to believe his last involvement was telling his staff 'goodnight', hours before the outcome has been determined.
There is no special prosecutor statute any more. The fitzmas route was possible because he was appointed to do that my his friend Comey who was then acting AG. Do you seriously imagine Holder would do the same thing?

Remember "Follow the money" - Watergate's at least had more pizzazz with Dorothy Hunt and other CIA money secrets. Ha, this one only has a green dragon.

Nixon took 2 years to invoke Executive Privilege; it took Obama 1.5 years on Fast and Furious.

They had Nixon's number because he had uncovered Hiss, the very model of an entitled lefty WASP,
he subsequently went after Dean Acheson and Stevenson, the nuanced political statesmen of the era, snarc.

Poor little LeBron. He's pouting because he can't drive unimpeded to the rim. Those bad Bulls are fouling him. Drat.
Not since Kareem have we had such a pouty MVP. And I actually like them both.

Maybe Blumenthal can entertain us with more Viet Nam stories...

Now, now, we know from MarkO's graduated nincompoop scale that Markey, being barely sentient, must fall into the complete idiot range.

In today's America that gets you a large yawn.

what if the gop follows the fitzmas route?
fitz was given a bogus charge, but got to question the witnesses, in pursuit of justice*.
*or he never considered whether a crime had been committed and went about establishing a web for trapping anyone in obstruction/perjury. answering whether a crime had been committed was a secondary matter.
**********
side note-obama goes to bed. this is a 'who's in charge' moment. somebody had to be in control of the military. surely they had standing orders to 'invade' libya, or 'NOT invade' libya.
was there anyone qualified, legally to order troops, while the president slept? if he isn't 'available', who was running the show?
smaller tangent-
where was biden? he's the type of guy who leads me to believe he enjoys this stuff. was he in the meetings? and while biden might seem the type to enjoy the intrigue, would obama's interest have been piqued, more than slightly, when he was told that the embassy was under attack and the ambassador is missing?
hard to believe his last involvement was telling his staff 'goodnight', hours before the outcome has been determined.

"You got what I need". Song by BizMarkie not Ed Markey. I'd rather have Biz as my senator all things considered.

I hadn't thought of that, sort of like the Yom Kippur War intervention in reverse.
Posted by: narciso | May 06, 2013 at 10:31 PM
There is no special prosecutor statute any more. The fitzmas route was possible because he was appointed to do that my his friend Comey who was then acting AG. Do you seriously imagine Holder would do the same thing?

Despite it all, Nixon would have survived but for the testimony of one Alexander Butterfield.
Who knew? It pays to ask.

No it was me! Stupid IT Guy from Southern Indiana.
Now, about that all expenses paid trip to S. Cali... We are gonna have to bargain over the 'lights punched out' thing, but...
I have three kids, 17, 11 and 9, but the 17 year old is the only one that's gonna cost you.
Let me know. In this economy, I might let let you black my left eye ( they bad one...) if it's truly 'all expenses paid'.
