We're just getting started on Benghazi. What about Syrian gun running? Sounds plausible.
Not just plausible, probable.
The dudes over at SOFREP have a report they put together based on their experience in the SOF community and open source reporting. It breaks down, basically as follows:
1. An undeclared ground war was being conducted in Libya, using "contractors" to train anti-Khaddafi militias. This gave Obama political cover since there was no military involvement. They posit that John Brennan was put in charge of managing it and that it was conducted outside the control of CIA.
2. Stevens was a competent ambassador with lots of first hand experience in Libya, and personally knew some of the anti-Khaddafi leadership. He returned to Libya to use his connections and knowledge to locate weapons that had been given to the militias by the US, via Turkey, and try to recover them. Among these weapons were MANPADs.
3. Post the fall of Khaddafi, KSA started a weapons for cash program, buying up the US weapons and transferring them to Syrian anti-Assad militias, amongst them the Al Nusra Front.
4. Brennan's off the record operations ended up targeting some of the more radical elements, among them Ansar Al Sharia, who retaliated by attacking the Embassy Annex, which was less defended than the Embassy itself, per DoS SOP. Stevens, Petraeus and the CIA, and DoS were all caught with their pants down because Brennan wasn't coordinating or giving information to any of them.
I'm not saying all or any of that is true, but it rings very true to me with my limited knowledge. So I'll let you spin your own theories involving Al Nusra near the Golan Heights, Saudi students in Boston, and the accession of John Brennan to CIA director.
I can assure you there are layers to this we are not even considering yet.
I just caught a replay of Cokie Roberts on Snuffalapugos yesterday with a couple of head-scratchers. First, on Syria, she said something like "Everyone is criticizing Obama for indecisiveness, but then when you ask them what should he do, they don't know." I doubt it's true that they all have said they don't know, but even if it were, it's the President's job to make a decision.
And then she said that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost every American family $45,000. There are roughly 100 million American families. So is she saying that those wars have cost $4.5 Trillion? That must be a Joe Stiglitz-type calculation.
Well I trust your judgement on this, Soylent, since you've been in the Sandbox, the last point seems unlikely, however, Roggio who keeps a track of every major bogey didn't report any activity in North Africa,
Another interesting story concerns that Saudi diplomatic outpost in DC, involved in some shenanigans, some very high profile people, including the Military Attache, a Mr, Amer,
(that was the previous post that Bandar held before becoming Ambassador) happen to live there, this is also the facility that denied
the supposed tip from the GID, and subsequently Prince Nayef early this spring.
Gomez is, imo, a Democrat who is running as a Republican secondarily to create a win-win scenario for Democrats, but primarily because the slot for a Democrat candidate had been filled already ..., you know, much the same as with Scott Brown, Col. West and Mitt Romney to name a few others of their ilk, also. If you'll notice, sneaky Democrats are slyly running as Republicans with increasing frequency all over the country. More than half of the voters can't tell the difference.
This leaves me almost speechless - sailors can't swear anymore and the US Navy is being sabotaged by Obama. Report is about Adm. Gaouette - who is thought to have some relevant info on Benghazi - suddenly removed from post at that time and now his career ended.
"...more than 20 Navy commanding officers were fired in 2012 for inappropriate behavior and misconduct; another six commanding officers have been relieved of duty so far this year."
Good Morning! The story about the three girls in Cleveland is amazing.
There is one aspect of the Benghazi story that really bothers me.Obama went to bed that night.Did he sleep well? Did he toss and turn with concern? If you are a normal person and receive bad news before going to bed, don't you wake in the night and try to get more information? I've come to the conclusion that he just doesn't care. And that scares me.
Jane, is there any local anger at how the two bombing vermin are being sympathetically covered by the MFM? I know how pissed off I am from about 700 miles away.
I haven't heard anyone talk about any of it, but I'm pretty out of touch on a local level. The current furor is about the burial site.
We're just getting started on Benghazi. What about Syrian gun running? Sounds plausible.
I believe that is part of it, and I believe Brennen is at the heart of it. I'd like to know when and why he converted to Islam.
Something that puzzles me, and rather lost in the bigger story is the film and its role in North Africa on Sept. 11. It was first heard of, according to news accounts, as it was pushed by MB in Egypt the night before. Then there was the strange Embassy response, the modification by State, etc. There was the coordinated and well-planed and armed attack in Tunis....we seemed to know about the film immediately and without any investigation. More to it all and why connected to Bengazi?
Captain Hate: I've seen that nasty practice before in other settings. There is more to it than meets the eye.
Including that weasel, Hagel, the current Administration wants to accumulate paper trails of false narratives to viciously frame those naval officers on contrived, bogus pretexts, probably for no other reason than because they were critical of this administration's harebrained policies.
from BR's NYT link - "Concern over the number of high-profile cases across the armed services is so acute that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Tuesday sent an unusual letter to the Pentagon’s top leadership urging a renewed “commitment to values-based ethical conduct.” "
meanwhile -
Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), ...Weinstein will be a consultant to the Pentagon to develop new policies on religious tolerance, including a policy for court-martialing military chaplains who share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops.
What ethics is Hagel talking about? "values-based ethical conduct"? What is that & what is it based on?
Marlene--exactly.
But he is not a "normal person." Per his (largely fabricated)
autobiographies--he was abandoned as a child, both by his father and also, effectively, by his mother.
These kinds of childhood traumas are the source of multiple personality disorders and other severe psychological deviations because of the compartmentalization most children do to try to not be in constant pain and agony.
Which means it would be far easier for him to have decided to let Ambassador Stevens et. al. die and go off to bed--and sleep!-- than for us "normal" people.
(After all, he had that big fundraiser in Vegas to rest up for.)
God bless all parents who make the necessary personal sacrifices to raise children in a stable home.
Jimmy-would you like to guess how often I look to the footnotes to see who the authority is for something I know is not true or is aspirational instead of reality and it is Stiglitz?
Tennessee's excitement reminded me of the Corker golf game. But I read several different newsletters daily tracking this regional stuff. HUD, EPA, Energy, Transportation and Ed are all coordinating actively on this vision. This is what the 2nd term is all about.
WRT Soylent Red's excellent comment last night, here's more evidence of the brilliant outcome of Obama's secret little dirty war. The carrion stench of the Arab Spring continues to grow.
I wondered when this might happen (because it needed to). Via Jake Tapper at CNN:
A few months after turning 50 years old, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie secretly underwent lap-band surgery in February for the sake of his wife and kids, a source close to the governor confirmed to CNN.
Christie told the New York Post, which first reported the story early Tuesday morning, that the invasive procedure came after his family and friends urged him to start improving his health.
I hope it works and we start seeing much less of him.
So the JamesTown foundation, whose purpose is in part to relocate people from the Caucasus, is rubbishing the Tsarnaev/Plotnikov/Nidal connection, why would that be, this follows the same pattern, with Muhajir, Faris, AbdulMutallab,
(Padilla, Lindh, et al) for those without the Rosetta.
Btw, I checked the list, and apparently it's Sara's birthday.
Benghazi-- first the coverup, then the lies about the coverup, next come the 'limited hangout' play. What will that be?-- we are already getting clues-- media reports from unnamed Admin Sources now claim that the 'changed narrative' was FROM STATE-- not the WH. The Obamaniacs are getting ready to blame the babe again-- first Susan Rice took the fall, now it's HildaBeast's turn. So does ValJar kill all the females in the obummer tribe b/c she's in charge? or is she next on the list to go when the SHTF?
Gee, I was just wondering last night why all JOMers were born in March and almost none in April and May. Jimmy breaks the mold - in many more ways than one.
I got to read Akerlof yesterday. Lucky me. Can't imagine that the profs Anonamom mentioned are not together on Akerlof's and Rothstein's and Reich's vision for our 21st century society.
Anonamom-will pick up a print edition while I am out. Red got home from college last night and would rather we shop today. No economics for me once she awakens.
Of course jimmy and I would argue I am not reading valid economics now. Just aspirational political theories looking for implementation with our tax dollars. And those lucrative needs for administering such a vision.
It's quite embarassing for them, to meet up with someone who was foolish enough to believe all the Dezinformatya, they were shelling out from the 70s-90s,
St. Elizabeths Hospital was founded by the United States Congress in
1852, largely as the result of the efforts of Dorothea Dix, a pioneering
advocate for people living with mental illnesses. It opened in 1855 as
the Government Hospital for the Insane.
I guess DHS will live up to the zoning requirements, insane.
I received this terribly racist email yesterday. I've decided to pass it on so no one ever makes the same mistake again:
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
Not fair to make judgment of this, until you see what the Fire Chief said.
In South Los Angeles, a 4-plex home was destroyed by a fire.
A black family of six, all welfare recipients and gang members,
lived on the first floor. They died.
An Islamic group of seven welfare cheats,
all illegally in the country from Kenya, lived on the second floor,
and they, too, all perished in the fire.
Six Hispanic gang-bangers and ex-cons
lived on the third floor and they also died.
A white couple lived on the top floor.
They alone survived the fire.
Jesse Jackson, John Burris and Al Sharpton were furious when they heard about it.
They flew into L.A. and met with the fire chief, on camera.
They loudly demanded to know,
why the blacks, Muslims and Hispanics
all died in the fire and why only the white couple lived.
Jane, my bet is the "terrorist" in Minnesota gets big news coverage... he is exactly what Reno Napolitano is looking for: a rural white guy who is afraid of government tyranny, esp FEMA and TSA shooting people willy-nilly. (No mental health records released on this guy, but he is a convicted felon).
"sneaky Democrats are slyly running as Republicans with increasing frequency all over the country"
They're called the fnork, Nick, and there is no defense against them. They're too smart for us, and they have this uncanny knack of fooling voters into supporting them. And of course Romney is a secret Democrat--his father was a Republican governor of Michigan, but young Mitt slyly broke away from dad in secret.
rse, several WI Tea Party groups are trying to stop Common Core. Unfortunately, some Rs think it is a good idea. The state superintendent of schools (D-unions) got a NLB waiver and cash from the Feds to force Common Core in WI. Its not clear what Walker thinks about it.
Here's the WaPo link to Kessler's 'Fact Checking' Benghazi Lies. It's official now, it's in WaPo-- HildaBeast is the Fall Gal-- the CIA terrorist attack 'narrative' was re-written by State, and HildaBeast perjured herself about that in January. In a Limited Hangout, Obummer will say he's sad that a great public career ended this way-- but hey it's not the first time for the Clintons! Then, with 2016 out, Hillary and Huma sail off into saphic heaven, and BillyC launches himself into a sea of silicon enhanced Vegas Showgirls. Mooschelle for Pres in 2016!!
Drudge has a couple of articles from The Hill about Ted Cruz. None of it's news to anyone here, but I did love this bit:
Cruz’s Senate colleagues fear that he makes them look ready to go along with business as usual in Washington, which makes them more likely to be challenged and defeated in primaries.
That's exactly the point. Going along with business as usual in Washington is why we've got a $16 trillion+ debt, taxes and regulations that suppress employment, explosive increases in the number of people on public assistance, unemployment, disability, etc. And on and on and on...
I also liked this, from an article about Harry Reid's temper tantrum over Cruz:
“My friend from Texas is like a schoolyard bully,” Reid added. "He pushes everybody around and is losing and instead of playing the game according to the rules, he not only takes the ball home with him, but he changes the rules that way no one wins except the bully who tries to indicate to people that he has won."
Harry Reid lecturing anyone on proper behavior is just laughable, or it would be, if he weren't one of the most powerful people in the government...
I'm convinced there was no attempt to help our people in Benghazi because if the attempt failed it would be worse for them politically than no attempt at all.
Glad to see the usual bevy of RINOs voted for the internet sales tax plan: Chambliss, Collins, Graham, McRINO and Portman (maybe his homo son interceded). Proponents of this additional burden are using the same garbage argument that libs use against Walmart; namely about how much it hurts the Mom and Pop stores as if that's a compelling reason to favor yet another tax grab by the state. People saw an opportunity to conduct business on line and now the carpet is being pulled out from under them. Well done, Senate tools.
Janet@1035-- and not sending a military relief mission (sending an overflight SHOULD have been done) into Benghazi because of unknown risks was a legitimate nat seurity decision-- Panetta is right about that. That's why the scandal is the lies -- AFTER 9/11/12-- about the nature of the AQ attack in Benghazi, not the response that night. We need to keep the light on the actual scandal -- otherwise LIVs will say big deal that's a second guess. Take down HildaBeast and Obummer over their repeated post 9/11 lies about the YouTube Video.
Boy I bet the administration is pissed these girls were not found a day later. Now the trick is, can they dominate the news for 2 days, not just one?
Gateway Pundit has an audio of Hannity talking to a drone operator who was operating over Benghazi on 9-11, and also a letter Castro the perp wrote about one of the kidnapped girls after she was kidnapped. Now that is warped.
[[I also liked this, from an article about Harry Reid's temper tantrum over Cruz:

Fascinating really. All the sudden demand for streetcars means surging costs at the the limited number of manufacturers.
narciso-I replied to your link. I find the use of academic disciplines for defensive "defer to us" funny since the reforms themselves seek to trash disciplines.
DoT: For one thing, Mitt Romney's father, George, was an unabashed, old fashioned, Rockefeller Republican, nowadays known as a Rino, and, in fact, in 1963/1964, he was very strongly opposed to Conservative Presidential Candidate, Barry Goldwater, to the extent that he, Romney, supported LBJ, also ..., and for another thing, like Rino Presidential Candidate, John McCain, Rino Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney, was nothing more than Obama-lite, imho, also ....., and for another thing, your point was?
mad jack, I'm sure you can give DoT a quick blood pressure spike by replaying those words from Lurch in 2004.

Level the playing field

Compromise

Benghazi-- first the coverup, then the lies about the coverup, next come the 'limited hangout' play. What will that be?-- we are already getting clues-- media reports from unnamed Admin Sources now claim that the 'changed narrative' was FROM STATE-- not the WH. The Obamaniacs are getting ready to blame the babe again-- first Susan Rice took the fall, now it's HildaBeast's turn. So does ValJar kill all the females in the obummer tribe b/c she's in charge? or is she next on the list to go when the SHTF?

I got to read Akerlof yesterday. Lucky me. Can't imagine that the profs Anonamom mentioned are not together on Akerlof's and Rothstein's and Reich's vision for our 21st century society.
Anonamom-will pick up a print edition while I am out. Red got home from college last night and would rather we shop today. No economics for me once she awakens.
Of course jimmy and I would argue I am not reading valid economics now. Just aspirational political theories looking for implementation with our tax dollars. And those lucrative needs for administering such a vision.

DHS to build new headquarters in SouthEast DC.
Of course, the site does have history.

The Fire Chief said, "They were at work."

And on and on and on...
http://thehill.com/homenews/house/297839-gop-on-cruz-control

Posted by: NK | May 07, 2013 at 10:41 AM
Boy I bet the administration is pissed these girls were not found a day later. Now the trick is, can they dominate the news for 2 days, not just one?
Gateway Pundit has an audio of Hannity talking to a drone operator who was operating over Benghazi on 9-11, and also a letter Castro the perp wrote about one of the kidnapped girls after she was kidnapped. Now that is warped.

Can you make sure WI groups are aware of the ties to the Regional Industrial Policy economic vision http://www.invisibleserfscollar.com/future-common-communicative-competence-with-regional-economies-focused-on-effective-social-relationshipsd/ and the earlier post on revising federal revenue sharing? I have no doubt that is part of what is tying up Kasich in Ohio. Cleveland wants that money but it is fictitious in the long run.
If your contacts want to reach me via the blog I can tell them what newsletters to sign up for to get real time info on the regional Industrial Policy vision.
Fascinating really. All the sudden demand for streetcars means surging costs at the the limited number of manufacturers.
