The NY Times reminds us that for many, history began on January 20, 2009. This is from a profile of an immigration activist turned Obama official (#FoxHenhouse):
Now, as Mr. Obama is in Latin America this week as the first president in decades with a chance to get an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws through Congress...
What, Bush and McCain never had a chance with their push for comprehensive reform? Now they tell us.
To be fair, the Times does note that Obama's contribution has been to threaten to bring his polarizing touch to the process. Her list of accomplishments includes this:
[Ms. Muñoz] has helped draft a bill that the president threatened to introduce if talks on Capitol Hill faltered.
Don't call his bluff!
I hate this man.

I guess I'm in the minority but I'm doubtful that this will become a big issue or dominate news coverage. Hillary's! political career was already over and we still have more than 3 years for the fruits of the Obama Administration's foreign policy to ripen-Europe bleeding out, the psychotic North Korea, crazy Iran, the Arab Winter, and the vanishing redlines in the Syrian mountains-such brilliance is not the stuff of winning political campaigns. Too bad for Obama, but Israel caused a small "road accident" in Syria; without even entering Syrian air space. Instead, very early Friday morning; at 4AM, about 16 Israeli planes shot overhead, in Lebanon. Causing a huge uproar at sea; as Russian and American ships had to decide if "Lebanon was being invaded," or not. I'm sure Putin and Obama were awakened. And, both men knew Israel was smart enough that all her pilots were back home, and in bed.
While this small little road accident became the top of the news.
Obama's a lame duck! This makes most Americans happy. It's like asking for "less government," and now knowing Obama can't do much to Bibi. Or Israel. And? I bet'cha Obama learned a lesson about maintaining threats when you lay out red lines.
Journalists are also sad. Because Israel didn't start a new war. Assad is not going to attack Israel with any retaliation. And, this will leave the news business in the doldrums.

I think you are right, but with the media sucking the air out of anything that might make the new sun king and his court look bad, I'm not sure. I am a but surprised that Obama is going around rallying Mexico to get a US immigration bill passed in Congress (maybe someone can go into his office with a box of crayons and scratch paper and diagram the process for him and show him "I'm just a Bill" from the ole' Schoolhouse Rock for his briefing book).

WASHINGTON — The airstrike that Israeli warplanes carried out in Syria was directed at a shipment of advanced surface-to-surface missiles from Iran that Israel believed was intended for Hezbollah, the militant Lebanese organization, American officials said Saturday.
Twice in four months Israel has sought to disrupt the pipeline of weapons to Hezbollah.
It was the second time in four months that Israel had carried out an attack in foreign territory intended to disrupt the pipeline of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah, and the raid was a vivid example of how regional adversaries are looking after their own interests as Syria becomes more chaotic.

Awesome Clarice. Sort made my teeth grind a bit.
One of the easter eggs buried in Obamacare is that the part time rules blow back on those who have arranged his affairs such that he could work part time for the express purpose of going school but working part time at the firm becomes impossible because of the Obamacare part time rules, even if it is for a good cause. So Bernstein can complain about education and the workforce but he doesn't have to bother navigating the waters of both Obamacare at a private company and a university bureaucracy.

Posted by: Rick Ballard | May 04, 2013 at 06:38 PM
I don't see Benghazi taking down Obama, or even Hillary! They were successful at pushing it beyond the election, and now their common refrain seems to be "who cares?" or "it was so long ago", ignoring that it was so long ago because of the cover up starting at the very top and involving so much of the Administration.
There has always been a lot suspicious there, and pretty obvious that Hillary! signed off, at least implicitly, on the force draw down there in August or so. The threats that they were being told about didn't fit the narrative, and so were filtered out and ignored. And, it has always been quite suspicious that nothing was done, despite what appears to have been military activations throughout the region.
What wasn't clear at the time was why weren't any of those forces deployed. And, it turns out that there were several that were close enough to maybe have had an effect, and were on stand by, thanks to standard orders for this sort of thing. Turns out, apparently, the missing ingredient was the Presidential authorization to move American forces across a national border. Which means that President Obama knew what was going on, and then did nothing (going to bed early for that grueling flight out west for fund raising the next day). His inaction was in implicit denial of authorization for any such aid, and, thus, was the proximate cause for no aid being rendered (except by contractors on their own initiative from Tripoli).
What is finally coming out though is that the misdirection and cover up started almost immediately, probably within hours of the last fire fight, and covered the White House in particular, but also State, CIA, and maybe even Defense. They knew almost immediately that this was a terrorist strike, by al Qaeda associates, but all that information was excised in the revisions of the information being released to the American public, making it clear that there was a concerted effort to lie to the American people - which they believed they had to do, given that they were in the midst of a close reelection campaign.
Finally, the thing that I think will be interesting to ultimately find out is why the FBI, etc. were not allowed over there much more quickly. Whose idea was that? Was the delay in hoping that any evidence in the compound would disappear? Or, just procrastination, delaying that part of the investigation until hopefully after the election?
Posted by: Bruce | May 04, 2013 at 06:44 PM
You're so sweet, cc. How can I refuse your request?
Posted by: Clarice | May 04, 2013 at 06:47 PM
