Lefty lies are printed, spread, & amplified daily...I'm just gonna choose to believe this story to balance things out a bit.

NK

It's a satirical story that didn't happen... but SHOULD HAVE*.

Perhaps Collegno's Pizzeria is in Russia where Tina Fey can see it?

Anyone who cares is welcome to forward it to Larry Sabato.

I'll consider this story .000000027% payback for the lie that Reps. Lewis, Carson, Cleaver, & Clyburn told about Tea Partiers on 3-20-10.

James D.

I'd like to see the story become inspiration, and for business owners to actually shut their doors in Nanny Bloomberg's face.

Just when you think he can't go lower, Obama does.

The Drudge headline, taken from RCP, is that Obama is blaming the Mexican drug violence on American guns.

What a low life bastard.

Gus

Matt, he's campaigning in Mexico. Literally. He is talking to the Future Democrats of America. A.k.a. Mexican College students. Meanwhile, John McCain is saying something about how HONORABLE he is or some such crap.

Rob Crawford

Matt, they've been making that claim for YEARS. That was the reason for "Fast and Furious" -- they wanted to fluff up the number of guns traceable to the US because not enough were showing up on their own.

henry

Gus, you forgot one.

d)Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States

Makes me wonder, did F&F ever stop?

James D.

Matt, he's right. Of course, he's omitting the fact that his Department of Justice GAVE the guns to Mexican drug criminals with the expectation that they'd be used to commit crimes.

Porchlight

Imagine if F&F were the only truly despicable thing Obama had done in office. In a sane world, it would have brought him down.

Instead it's one of 100 things - 1000 things - and he's sitting pretty in his second term.

Harrumph! Wasn't someone (I'm sure it was Hit) supposed to publish a JOM dictionary? No matter how often you guys use these words I can't figure out the definition, (or remember it) because the people you describe deserve so many adjectives.

They are expecting a verdict in the Gosnell trial any minute. Since there were about 200 counts to deliberate I can't say I think that is a good thing. Let's hope it was a slam dunk.

Gus

henry, Obama was a drug user. He paid no price, yet he grandstands to College aged kids in Mexico. He is campaigning for 2014 votes for Congress.

This demonstrates the difference between a cagey slimey creep like Clinton and a nutjob Marxist like Barry.

BJ had the good sense to steer clear of gun control once it bit him profoundly in the ass in 1994.
Barry is doubling down. I'm afraid, if he persists, he is going to learn that motivating his base against a cipher like Romney is largely without risk. Attempting to motivate it against people far more tenacious and numerous in their love of guns than the few gun grabbers on his side is a sure path to congressional destruction in 2014.
What I've never understood about people like Barry who follow the Big Lie strategy is, do they forget how things turned out for its earlier adherents?

NK

If a North Phila jury nullifies the facts and acquits Gosnell.... at least masks would have been torn off.... we'll see.

Ig.... one word of caution... the Obamaniacs are convinced that the cultural mores of under 30somethings are so corrupted by shite like the 'Mountain Dew Advert' culture, that he can get away with things unimaginable to leftist elites like Slick Willy 15 years ago. I think the Obamaniacs are wrong, but yet TBD.

No, they think that if they keep trying, when circumstances align, eventually they'll win.

(Which, in itself, is fine and even noble. I mean, we keep trying to convince voters and elected officials to come around on our preferred policies as well.)

I'm talking about the views of bleeding heart, do-it-for-the-children liberals here. The hard left of course has much more sinister reasons for wanting to take away guns; to them the bleeding hearts are just useful idiots.

BJ had the good sense to steer clear of gun control once it bit him profoundly in the ass in 1994.

Clinton's goal was to stay in office and set himself up for a life of easy cash and babes.

Obama's goal is to goad Americans into something rash.

Thus the insistence that every one of his legislative initiatives skips the normal processes. The drive for gun control. The "budget" opening the Pandora's box of confiscating from people's retirement accounts.

Jim Eagle

Jane,

At least being the MSM favs, they can bang the Benghazi drum. If we have to choose between Schumer and Rubio pushing Immigration reform or Sibelius and Von Halen calming the Obamacare waters or Graham and McRino demanding answers on Benghazi then let them roar.

The problem is that once they start talking about things "from so long ago" the MSM will quickly turn to Immigration or bipartinsip or any other squishy thing those two specialize in.

I am still waiting for the Sunday show that features Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Trey Gowdy talking about guns, Benghazi, dereliction of duty (not Obama but the GOP senators), that pesky thing called the Constitution and how the United States is teetering on the prospect that 29% of its citizenry see the prospect of change by an armed revolution.

Wonder if that will tempt some 26 year old producer at FNC? Doubt it.

Jane -

I can't believe you don't know what Fnork is!

--Shemp talked about thousands of "square acres" on fire in California. Anyone from our farming and logging contingent care to comment on that new areal measurement?--

I'd gladly hit Shemp with a brick at the drop of a hat but I have to give him a little slack here if only because when calculating volume of timber per acre it's common to set up plots of 1/4 to 1 acre in size which are circular.

However, when discussing thousands of acres calling them square acres is pretty much like describing round circles.
Let's give Shemp three eye gouges out of a possible four for this particular stupidity.

henry

Jane, all I know is that fnork is whatever Duke & Duke and the R establishment (which doesn't exist) are, except instead of using a word that exists for something that doesn't, we chose a word that doesn't exist for something that does. I think that makes it Shrodinger's Establishment Cat.

Ignatz

On the MarkO Intelligence Scale Shemp would be a low grade imbecile but not an idiot.

Ignatz

Porchlight

There is nothing fine or noble about the level of stupidity required to believe in Unicorn Utopia.

I agree, Rick. I probably wasn't clear - I was referring to the "if at first you don't succeed" approach generally, not the specific goals involved.

And I was thinking more of the regular libs. But lyle and Rob C make great points - Barry thinks that the failures of the mere mortals who preceded him aren't anything he needs to worry about.

Mark Folkestad

Ignatz, I don't think that Shemp was intending to say that each acre was in the shape of a square. He stumbled, starting by saying square miles, and then went with square acres, as in acres squared (acres to the fourth power???) Many years ago, I got into a discussion with a couple of rich kids on a Minneapolis bus (no idea why they weren't in the family limo), one of them the son of financier Irwin Jacobs. The other kid was talking about how his great-grandfather owned several "bonanza farms" up near Fargo, which were over, in his words, "a hundred thousand square acres". Same confusion of terminology, thinking of square miles, not realizing that that represents a square of a linear measure, while an acre is already a square of a linear measure.

Ignatz

The Urban Dictionary definition of fnork I have to add is of course taken from Tim Conway's bit on the Carol Burnett show.
UD did not credit him with the gag.

Captain Hate

Answer me this: How does Lindsay Lohan get away with ignoring judge after judge? Huh?

I'm guessing that her traffic mishaps haven't resulted in anybody getting seriously hurt. If that ever happens there will be a compelling need to get her behind bars along with the usual finger pointing of why wasn't it done sooner.

I think a great deal of what is wrong would have gone on under Romney. He would have deferred to jeb on ed and then the coming crash would have been truly bipartisan. An awful lot of nominal Reps love the idea of being players in an Industrial Policy economy. They love the idea of public-private partnerships.

I have not pointed this out before but I have run into Bain as a rah rah advocate for this ed/Industry template. I know Romney is no longer affiliated but neither is he likely to rain on their anticipated parade.

We need politicians who can make the case why all these policies are bleeding all of us not getting remittances from our business with or on the payroll of govts or NGOs.

Heh. I love the back-chatter. Porchlight just shared with me that her parents live next door to Irwin Jacobs. Small world.

Porchlight

Conservatives are letting the debate be about lawful licensed gun use-- it needs to be about CRIME

Great idea. We need to play up every single story of armed citizens stopping crimes in progress. They happen every day.

Not that the MSM will give us a bullhorn or anything.

But every single time a Repub is asked about gun control he should rattle off three different recent incidents in which a good guy with a (legally-owned and licensed) gun has stopped a bad guy with a (probably illegal) gun. Make it about stopping crime. Everybody wants lower crime. Everybody cheers when someone takes out a bad guy.

From Jane's link:

The Weekly Standard has confirmed the identities of the authors of two critical emails—one indicating the main reason for the changes and the other announcing that the talking points would receive their final substantive rewrite at a meeting of top administration officials on Saturday, September 15.

The White House provided the emails to members of the House and Senate intelligence committees for a limited time and with the stipulation that the documents were available for review only and would not be turned over to the committees. The White House and committee leadership agreed to that arrangement as part of a deal that would keep Republican senators from blocking the confirmation of John Brennan, the president’s choice to run the CIA. If the House report provides an accurate and complete depiction of the emails, it is clear that senior administration officials engaged in a wholesale rewriting of intelligence assessments about Benghazi in order to mislead the public.

Even when they're providing documents as part of their responsibility for oversight purposes, they're still playing political games with them. Frankly I'm embarrassed by the gutlessness of the Repukes in playing along with this rather than telling them to fuck off and then go screaming to Sharyl Attkisson. Our "side" plays this game about as well as Jason Collins did in the NBA.
