Just when you think he can't go lower, Obama does.
The Drudge headline, taken from RCP, is that Obama is blaming the Mexican drug violence on American guns.
What a low life bastard.
Posted by: matt | May 03, 2013 at 01:54 PM
Matt, he's campaigning in Mexico. Literally. He is talking to the Future Democrats of America. A.k.a. Mexican College students. Meanwhile, John McCain is saying something about how HONORABLE he is or some such crap.
Posted by: Gus | May 03, 2013 at 01:55 PM
Matt, they've been making that claim for YEARS. That was the reason for "Fast and Furious" -- they wanted to fluff up the number of guns traceable to the US because not enough were showing up on their own.
Posted by: Rob Crawford | May 03, 2013 at 01:57 PM
Gus, you forgot one.
d)Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States
Makes me wonder, did F&F ever stop?
Posted by: henry | May 03, 2013 at 01:59 PM
Matt, he's right. Of course, he's omitting the fact that his Department of Justice GAVE the guns to Mexican drug criminals with the expectation that they'd be used to commit crimes.

This demonstrates the difference between a cagey slimey creep like Clinton and a nutjob Marxist like Barry.
BJ had the good sense to steer clear of gun control once it bit him profoundly in the ass in 1994.
Barry is doubling down. I'm afraid, if he persists, he is going to learn that motivating his base against a cipher like Romney is largely without risk. Attempting to motivate it against people far more tenacious and numerous in their love of guns than the few gun grabbers on his side is a sure path to congressional destruction in 2014.
What I've never understood about people like Barry who follow the Big Lie strategy is, do they forget how things turned out for its earlier adherents?

No, they think that if they keep trying, when circumstances align, eventually they'll win.

I'm talking about the views of bleeding heart, do-it-for-the-children liberals here. The hard left of course has much more sinister reasons for wanting to take away guns; to them the bleeding hearts are just useful idiots.

At least being the MSM favs, they can bang the Benghazi drum. If we have to choose between Schumer and Rubio pushing Immigration reform or Sibelius and Von Halen calming the Obamacare waters or Graham and McRino demanding answers on Benghazi then let them roar.
The problem is that once they start talking about things "from so long ago" the MSM will quickly turn to Immigration or bipartinsip or any other squishy thing those two specialize in.
I am still waiting for the Sunday show that features Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Trey Gowdy talking about guns, Benghazi, dereliction of duty (not Obama but the GOP senators), that pesky thing called the Constitution and how the United States is teetering on the prospect that 29% of its citizenry see the prospect of change by an armed revolution.
Wonder if that will tempt some 26 year old producer at FNC? Doubt it.

I'd gladly hit Shemp with a brick at the drop of a hat but I have to give him a little slack here if only because when calculating volume of timber per acre it's common to set up plots of 1/4 to 1 acre in size which are circular.
However, when discussing thousands of acres calling them square acres is pretty much like describing round circles.
Let's give Shemp three eye gouges out of a possible four for this particular stupidity.

Posted by: Porchlight | May 03, 2013 at 04:59 PM
Ignatz, I don't think that Shemp was intending to say that each acre was in the shape of a square. He stumbled, starting by saying square miles, and then went with square acres, as in acres squared (acres to the fourth power???) Many years ago, I got into a discussion with a couple of rich kids on a Minneapolis bus (no idea why they weren't in the family limo), one of them the son of financier Irwin Jacobs. The other kid was talking about how his great-grandfather owned several "bonanza farms" up near Fargo, which were over, in his words, "a hundred thousand square acres". Same confusion of terminology, thinking of square miles, not realizing that that represents a square of a linear measure, while an acre is already a square of a linear measure.

I have not pointed this out before but I have run into Bain as a rah rah advocate for this ed/Industry template. I know Romney is no longer affiliated but neither is he likely to rain on their anticipated parade.

Great idea. We need to play up every single story of armed citizens stopping crimes in progress. They happen every day.
Not that the MSM will give us a bullhorn or anything.
But every single time a Repub is asked about gun control he should rattle off three different recent incidents in which a good guy with a (legally-owned and licensed) gun has stopped a bad guy with a (probably illegal) gun. Make it about stopping crime. Everybody wants lower crime. Everybody cheers when someone takes out a bad guy.
