ABC News reports on the drafting process for the Benghazi talking points:
Exclusive: Benghazi Talking Points Underwent 12 Revisions, Scrubbed of Terror Reference
That said, the first paragraph of the first draft does focus on the Muhammed video protests in Cairo; terrorists and extremists are only introduced in the second paragraph. Admin apologists can argue that Team Obama buried the nuance and emphasized the lead until reality overtook them.

So, the IRS is "apologizing" for targeting conservative groups in 2012?
Posted by: centralcal | May 10, 2013 at 11:22 AM
Before this is over I bet we find out those killed in Benghazi were murdered with weapons supplied by Obama.

Please Tom, fix or replace this infernal, demonic machine from the Stygian abysm.

From Sharyl Attkisson tweet:
IRS flagged conservative political groups for extra reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status.

TomM-- you're joking right? Benghazi was a debacle from the get go for every bureaucrat at State and CIA -- first Ambassador assasinated since what 1982?. They all had motivation to downplay AQ, so the 1st Draft listed the riots first, but then the State bureaucrats had the integrity to reference AQ activity in eastern Libya to give proper context and credit to the initial reports that this was an AQ attack. The scandal is the 11 subsequent iterations, when the Obummer/Hillary! people turned this Draft into a lie and a propaganda sham to make the State report consistent with the lies Obummer/Hillary! had decided to tell at Andrews AFB and had instructed Rice to tell on TV Sunday. C'Mon, you've got to be kidding me-- the ABC printout of the 12 iterations PROVES Obummer/Hillary's deliberate lies to the dead's families and to the rest of us. meanwhile, AQ --knowing Obummer was lying his ass off-- threw back their heads and laughed and said: "we got this... we can do ANYTHING, and get away with it."

Did anyone else get the sense in the hearings yesterday that the Republican Congressmen were strongly urging "other" whistle blowers to come forward? It seemed to me that they were aware of a number of other members of State, CIA and perhaps other agencies as well who have much more to contribute/reveal, and they wanted to assure them of protection.

Clinton and Obama both swore oaths to support and defend the Constitution. But after failing to support and defend Americans left to die, they blamed the Constitution for their failure. That’s what difference it makes.

"Congressmen were strongly urging "other" whistle blowers to come forward?"
well there was a 4th witness State refused to allow to testify at a public hearing. I'm sure there are more.
Posted by: NK | May 10, 2013 at 11:33 AM
NK: I think the 4th witness, represented by Victoria Toensing, was being held back by State dragging its feet in releasing classfied docs to Toensing.
Posted by: centralcal | May 10, 2013 at 11:39 AM
CC-- correct-- State is controlling the data flow, and they used that control to keep that witness from appearing Thursday. Why?
Posted by: NK | May 10, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Maybe Toensing's witness is very close in and credible? Something about her witness is scaring them.
Posted by: centralcal | May 10, 2013 at 11:49 AM
I am sure there are witnesses from the black community who could testify in detail, but their security clearances and operational security prevent it.
But maybe somewhere the cracks in that edifice will begin to appear. That is when it gets nasty.
For the past 5 years the Administration has been dumping all over the professionals. My readings indicate that the WH staff hate the pros and thnink only in political terms. Woodward et al confirm this.
At some point payback begins. I'm not interested in the petty stuff, but these scum have taken our nation to a new low.
Posted by: matt | May 10, 2013 at 11:50 AM
Matt-- I doubt any intel community whistleblowers will come forward. That was a major reason to knockoff Petreaus IMO-- if the Obummers could expose the hero of the Surge, what can they do to a midlevel operative? This is one area where MelR's ChiTown rules definitely have an effect.

Another example of the media 'Narrative'. The Media portray 'pro-choice' as a normal worldview and 'pro-life' as nutz fringe. In fact, more Americans self-ID as Pro-Life right now-- only 20+% would ban abortion in all circumstances, but as a worldview, more consider themselves 'Pro-Life': http://www.gallup.com/poll/162374/americans-abortion-views-steady-amid-gosnell-trial.aspx

Any of the stories happen to mention if those "low-level employees" were fired?

Hicks testified that no one from the FBI has interviewed him about the events of that evening.
I realize it was a long time ago and all, but don't you think that in eight months the people in charge of the investigation would find time to interview the most senior US official on the scene?
Posted by: Blue Ox | May 10, 2013 at 12:24 PM
"but don't you think that in eight months the people in charge of the investigation would find time to interview the most senior US official on the scene?"
That would depend on the reason for conducting certain interviews. With Obama, it is never about the stated purpose.

I thought whistleblowers were supposed to be protected. IMO, the Democrats attempting to smear whistleblowers should be fired and their records not suitable for rehire at any level of government.

I'd like to hear more about the ambassador's gay lover. The whole coverup was to keep his affair secret, is the way I see it.
We could change the name of this site from JOM to Gayloverreleaseyourrecords, and start off with proof that the opinion in Roe v. Wade is a forgery. Hell, it's time our side got serious.

Blue Ox, you got any connection with the double-black-diamond run at Vail?
Posted by: Danube of Thought | May 10, 2013 at 02:37 PM
On one chart/timeline someone posted here I saw her name at the top of the list for investigative reporting for Benghazi, Rocco.
I get a kick out of Herridge's saying "you're welcome" whenever Brett Baier thanks her for a report. Think it drives him nuts :)
And I think she's terrific also.
The powers that be at Fox may have wanted to bury her as the 'terrorism' reporter 'cause some time ago she had some sort of lawsuit going against someone in the network or the network itself as I recall. Think she fooled 'em.

I had forgotten that but I'll certainly keep an eye out for her and Baier's interaction. I don't think fences are easily mended when lawsuits are involved.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Jonathan Karl's story is the person or persons who gave him the various revisions of the talking points memo. Who are they? Who do they work for? Maybe the Department of State... Maybe some other agency... I'm interested to see where the cracks in the bureaucratic dam are starting.
