Bill Jacobson has a lengthy recap. A short but similar version comes from a local news station:
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said it's hard to tell so far which side the state's witnesses are testifying for.
“The defense has managed to turn the state's witnesses and get good testimony that supports Zimmerman's defense,” Sheaffer said.
Well, I'm proud to say I live in a country where the show trials look more like an SNL skit.
Somebody should just shoot these bastards.
There: I've said it.

Wait! Drudge has up a headline that reads "Trayvon's girlfriend" has tweeted she had her "Court nails done." You can't make this stuff up. Her name is Rachel. But if she isn't the new Twana Brawley, who is?

And, sadly, vice versa.

Point of order, it's Bill Jacobsens' blog, but Andrew Braca wrote the linked article. He's a noted self defense attorney.

How was testimony regarding the police trying to save Martin's life admissible? Seems it can only be relevant as emotional influence on the jury.

You know.......I cried today. That's a really really hard thing for me,Dublindave (aka Dave kennedy) to admit.
I cried today.
I cried for America. I cried for Democracy. I cried for my African American brothers and sisters who are no longer elegible to vote.
I cried. It was my own private idaho. I cried.

If you tried crying for your own ignorance and stupidity a little more, you might get somewhere eventually.
Posted by: Coolpapa | June 26, 2013 at 04:52 AM
Amazing day for the GZ defense yesterday. Regarding Salene Bradahoor, surely the State had to know that O'Mara would quickly impeach her testimony by presenting the petition she signed. Branca and Schaeffer are spot on, the State witnesses turned out be more like the defenses witness.
I can wait to hear what Rachel has to say to help Zimmerman out:)

Sbw,
If you are looking for a reasonable hotel in NYC area, another option might be the W Hotel in Hoboken right across the river and a 10 minute PATH ride into the city.

You people are a little slow. Understand, why would the prosecution be willing to sit an all white jury? Unless, of course, they've already decided they can't win the case - or knew it from the start. This trial is just to "appeal" to the black community, while allowing them the back up of screaming "racism". Meanwhile the all white jury placates the white community, and - if he's found guilty - forestalls any cries of a "political" trial.

Posted by: Extraneus | June 26, 2013 at 08:29 AM
Well we can only hope the prosecution is mailing this one in to an all women jury, and we'll get a quick trial (no expert witness deabates about voice ID) and a quick acquittal. The political class gets what it wanted-- Obummer used the killing to help get his vote out in Florida, the Repub governor and prosecutor used it to show good faith and for voter outreach to 'minority' community voters, and by bringing a losing prosecution the Town, County and State mitigate the 'damage' claim made by the grasping Martin family and the grievance industry. George Z, oh, his life is ruined. But the political class is fine with that-- GZ got his CC permit, GZ didn't wait for cops, GZ got out his truck that night, so as far as they're concerned, GZ ruined his owned life. That's callous, but more than a little truth in that IMO.

NK, you forgot to include that the Martin family got the HOA's insurer to give them a million for their loss of their son.
Posted by: anonamom | June 26, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Well, that's what insureres do... payoff to avoid the risk of a much worse juror award. I feel sorry for the HOA, they thought they had their own community, but like many marginal condos it effectively became a rental project, and the resulting tenant issues. I'm sure the HOA is disgusted with both the Martins and GZ.
Posted by: NK | June 26, 2013 at 10:24 AM
Why, at this point, doesn't West play the tape of timid Zimmerman and the newly uncovered Trayvon tape and ask which sounds like which?
Posted by: jwest | June 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM
The prosecution begins the day with an eye witness testifying to hearing three shots fired by someone in a dark top into the back of the other person lying face down.*
I don't believe that's quite close enough even for goverment work.
*
One shot was fired.
Martin was wearing the dark top, Zimmerman was wearing a red jacket.
Martin was shot in the chest.

[email protected]:33-- frankly I'm glad to see that the State didn't coach witnesses to have their testimony match the forensic evidence.
Now, about that putting not credible witnesses on the stand....
Posted by: NK | June 26, 2013 at 10:42 AM
NK @ 9:03 AM - I agree completely.
Why don't we have ANY leading figures on the right who can articulate that - and why it's fundamentally evil?
Posted by: James D. | June 26, 2013 at 10:47 AM
TM nails it--it's a ANL satire of a trial put on to satisfy the race baiters and their friends in the media. I feel so sorry for the Zimmermans and what Crump and his pals have done to destroy them.
Posted by: Clarice | June 26, 2013 at 10:54 AM
Surdyka was a perfect case study of the liberal mind.
She ascertained immediately who the villian and who the victim was using stereotypes that support her worldview.
No amount of evidence, logic or facts will ever convince her that it was Zimmerman crying for help.
Posted by: jwest | June 26, 2013 at 10:55 AM
The next witness (Manalo) didn't see anything until the third time she looked out . . . and her neighbor (presumably "John") was already there.
I suspect the reason we aren't getting the guy who was obviously the best witness is that he isn't testifying for the prosecution (but for the defense). If so, the prosecutors ought to be disbarred.
Posted by: Cecil Turner | June 26, 2013 at 11:11 AM
Just these 2 eyewitnesses? Is that it? Acquittal?-- there should be a directed verdicted granted for failure to make out a case of Murder 2.
Posted by: NK | June 26, 2013 at 11:23 AM
"...the prosecutors ought to be disbarred."
If there is anything resembling justice in Florida, the prosecutors and the investigators who signed off on this case should be led out of the courthouse in handcuffs.
There needs to be consequences for ruining someone's life for political reasons.

They weren't. At least two jurors were seated over prosecution objections.

This seems to be another instance where the witness isn't about to consider the possibiity of being wrong.
Zimmerman was the larger person when Trayvon was shot. "I don't know who is bigger now."

I'm not an attorney - never been a juror - Zimmerman has an idiot for an attorney. He is letting this girl, Rachel, walk all over him - he is not going after her lies and inconsistencies.
He acts like he knows nothing about the case - he doesn't seem to know what questions to ask.
Is he doing this intentionally, is it some kind of an act to disarm the witness? What is he doing?

"OMG - Rachael Dee Dee Jeantel - whichever fake name she is using, is really something. Not sure what."
Wow - just wow. What has been reported on ALL the States witnesses so far is incredible. 2 have changed their testimony. 1 even thinks there was more than one shot. And Star Witness #8..just unbelievable.
I guess a young black child calling a White Hispanic a Crazy Ass Cracker, and a Ni**er is the epitome of non-racial innocent children.
This trial is an absolute travesty.

Did DD just give the defense and opening to get into all of the texts between DD and Skittles?
By the prosecution bringing up texts, AND the Defense getting the witness to say some are hers, some not... it opens up all the texts for later questions...
They can read them one by one, asking her if she sent them or not... backdoor way of getting that info in front of the Jury...
Well played...
Posted by: Stephanie | June 26, 2013 at 04:45 PM
DD testified that she wanted to help the Martins have Zimmerman arrested.
I found that to be a great grab for the defense.

This is a cooler alternative for St. Jane's Island. No chance of sovereignty, and even under Harper's government, Canada isn't going to be perfectly acceptable to gun-loving Yanks. But maybe The Committee for the Acquisition and Establishment of St. Jane's Island would consider having both a tropical and a temperate locale, to suit all tastes. Interesting to look at what is available, though. I'm still working on my Flawed Mark's Island project/acquisition, which will be, at most, 76 acres on a small island. Consider it a fall-back position for JOMO tribe gatherings.
