Well, they haven't been sued yet:

Bradley E. Manning, the former soldier convicted of the biggest leak of classified documents in history, will serve his sentence as a man, not as the woman he now claims to be, Army spokesman George Wright told The Washington Times Thursday.

He noted that the Army provides no sex-change surgery or hormone therapy but said Manning will have access to psychiatrists and other mental health professionals.

“The Army does not provide hormone therapy or sex-reassignment surgery for gender-identity disorder,” he said.

Obama's NSA watches 75% of the USA interenet and downloaded, read and kept 56,000 USA emails -- so found the FISA Court. Manning and Snowden are irrelevant. They are mostly accidents of history.

The NSA and governmental spying apparatus that has been and continues to be built should be the object of our concern and effort. Yet, many are content to believe that with such programs we remain "secure."

Asbury Park, NJ, August 22, 2013 -- The Rasmussen Reports, LLC Board of Directors today confirmed that founder Scott Rasmussen left the company last month. In part, the move reflects disagreements over company business strategies.

Mike Boniello, the company's chief operating officer, will assume a broader leadership role until a replacement for Mr. Rasmussen is named.

The Company emphasized that Mr. Rasmussen's legacy remains intact. His polling methodologies and protocols, widely acknowledged as among the most accurate and reliable in the industry, continue to guide and inform the company’s public opinion survey techniques. In addition, the editorial culture of excellence that he built is still very much in place.

Just read from the WP "Conservatives don’t get that some problems are public, and it’s hurting them" By Mike Konczal.

Konczal's blinders make him set up a weak strawman to knock down.

I wonder if it ever occurred to Konczal that there are other ways government might intervene to "help" people in ways that don't undermine capitalism with poor regulation or warp the market with unintended consequences.

Defining an issue to be "public" doesn't mean we are obliged to have expensive, ineffective, unworkable non-solutions down our throats.

White House spokesman jokes about Islamic attacks on Christian churches in Egypt

“Well, I didn’t bring my red pen out with me today,” Earnest joked.

Old Lurker

SBW...how are you feeling?

Extraneus

Read Taranto's response, sb.

But when you consider the social problems Murray identifies--problems that are worse among nonwhites than among whites--a lot of them implicate what most liberals would consider private decisions: decisions, that is, about sex, marriage and reproduction.

Aren't these decisions "public" by the Dewey-Konczal definition--particularly under a welfare state? Most obviously, a decision to have sex can produce a child; a poor woman's decision to have sex outside wedlock greatly increases the likelihood that the child will be a burden on the public fisc.

But it's not just poor people whose sexual, reproductive and marital decisions have effects beyond themselves. Sexual-marketplace theory teaches that prevailing mores and expectations are not simply handed down by "elites": They are an effect of individual actions (in the aggregate) as well as a cause.

Nor is the public effect of reproductive choices limited to those poor enough to be on what we usually think of as "welfare." Declining fertility threatens the long-term solvency of the middle-class entitlements, Social Security and Medicare. Thus every person's sexual behavior, every decision to marry or not, every woman's decision about whether to have children has a public effect.

Looking forward to Konzcal's response to that.
