Outstanding, Hit.

Jane on Ipad hi there NSA

I cannot understand anyone supporting this war on the basis of competence alone. What is good for the nation is survival, and there is no part of me that thinks Obama cares or understands that is at stake.

I don't think we have to support this action to bolster Obama's credibility . He has destroyed his own credibility and that's his fault and the idiots who swoon over him, particularly the press.

We may lose our country either way. I'd rather risk it doing nothing.

I don't get it, I've noticed this with people I generally repsect like Eliot Cohen, Carlos Alberto Montaner, in my local paper.

So IF we attack Syria, and NUMEROUS NATIONS, including Syria and Iran, think they have an excuse to attack ISRAEL.

What is the Douche Bag in Chiefs plan??

Hint: Raising the DEBT LIMIT isn't the correct answer.

Taranto notes this passage from Landler,

"Mr. Obama, who has been reluctant for the past two years to get entangled in Syria, had qualms from the start. Even as he steeled himself for an attack this past week, two advisers said, he nurtured doubts about the political and legal justification for action, given that the United Nations Security Council had refused to bless a military strike that he had not put before Congress. A drumbeat of lawmakers demanding a vote added to the sense that he could be out on a limb."--Mark Landler, New York Times, Sept. 1

Gus.

Who are our ALLIES now? Which countries are OBAMA'S COALITION in this endeavor?
Why would AMERICA under OBAMA, do this WITHOUT U.N. approval.
If we attack Syria, how do we evaluate the SUCCESS or FAILURE of the mission?
If Israel is ATTACKED as a CONSEQUENCE of COWBOY BARRY'S go-it-alone policy......WHICH OF OUR ALLIES are PREPARED to defend Israel?
Does OBAMA intend to DEFEND ISRAEL??
If not, Israel has a TRUMP CARD.
Has Obama discussed these possibilities with Benjamin Netanyahu????

Narciso,

A good thriller would have Putin poring over a FSB pysch profile looking strangely similar to Ignatz's diagnosis while plotting the move which pushes Obama into a very long sleeved jacket.

I couldn't figure out what Putin's motive for the savage mockery concerning Egypt might be any more than I can figure out why Assad would use nerve gas when attrition was working in his favor. Is he knocking Obama off his perch in the hope it will ruin the Red Witches chances in '16? The thought of continuing to have to deal with the fantasies of prog cretins and halfassed fascist enablers is sickening but can the motivation be that simple for Putin?

IF . . . Pres. "No I didn't, the world did" oBOzo goes ahead and launches some kind of attack against Bashar Al-Assad's forces, just *what* would oBOzo do if Assad were to be toppled from power?

oBOzo was given the opportunity to work with democratic forces in Egypt in 2011, to bring about a secular democratic government that protected women's and Christians' rights, but oBOzo supported the Muslim Brotherhood's rise to power.

IIRC, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn - two of oBOzo's close friends - went to Egypt to assist in the MB's transition to power.

Q - Can we expect oBOzo's administration to act any differently in Syria?
Q - Is a similar result in Syria in the national interests of the United States?

There's ample evidence to suggest that 9/11 would have never happened under a Gore Presidency. President Gore might have actually read the daily brief that warned of the imminent danger of an Al Qaeda attack.

Saletan, who blows hot and cold at times, points this out from a Rand assessement of Kosovo;

“prior to the air war’s start on March 24, 1999, only some 2,500 civilian innocents had died in the Serb-Albanian civil war, whereas during the 11-week bombing effort, an estimated 10,000 civilians were killed by marauding bands of Serbs unleashed by Milosevic … There is no denying that the Serb ethnic cleansing push accelerated after Operation Allied Force began. It is even likely that the air effort was a major, if not determining, factor behind that acceleration.”

Despite the false bravado of Double Douche ( or is it just that the delusions have returned?), it would appear that former Cheif of Staff to the long time Speaker of the Houses sees that a bunch of Democrats in vulnerable places in the Senate are going to have to go out on the gangplank:

Chris Matthews of MSNBC, who served on Capitol Hill for years as a top Democratic aide, put the party’s dilemma in stark terms on Wednesday: “I think the Democrats are going to be forced to sacrifice men and women who really, really don’t want to vote for this. They’re going to have to vote for it to save the president’s hide. That’s a bad position to put your party in.”

All I have to say, is "awwww."

NK(tryin')

Per the earlier comment-- I too believe Putin's public statements are more factual and credible than anything from the Obummer/Effin' Kerry/Hagel crew. That
's primarily because Putin knows what he's doing, so his public statements are part of his plan-- he's not making it up as he goes along. Hence-- he states more 'truth' than anything from the Obummer crew who's public statements are only the expediency of the moment (See-- 'No Red Line'). And like the Old USSR-- the USA Legacy Media won't call Obummer/effin' Kerry on any of their BS.

They bandied about the Aug 6th PDB, but it had less information, then the one 2 1/2 years before, with names of operatives . . .

Yeah, and that was in response to a direct question from W from an earlier vague assertion (that bin Laden wanted to attack the US). If Fat Al had been sitting in the chair, it's extremely unlikely the question would've even been asked, or the follow-on (rather useless) brief given.

The fact that progs think this sort of thing is telling just underscores that it's all about politics for them. They don't even care whether or not it's good for the US or its citizens . . . just whether it'll help elect another Democrat.

It is even likely that the air effort was a major, if not determining, factor behind that acceleration.

That statement is far too hedged. It is absolutely certain that the bombing campaign in Kosovo was the causative factor in the initiation of the ethnic cleansing campaign. Milosevic miscalculated, and took Clinton at his word that his primary concern was for the welfare of the Albanian population in Kosovo. In fact, Clinton was just being the pissy little teenager he always was, and was angry that Milosevic wouldn't roll over on Kosovo and give him a big "peace agreement" to hang on his wall. Clinton wanted Kosovo to be his Egypt-Israeli peace accord that would wipe away the stain of impeachment. Milosevic was threatening the ethnic cleansing campaign as the only deterrent he had against a US attack. Unfortunately for the Albanians and Serbs of Kosovo, the only thing Clinton ever cared about was himself.

Actually, Matthews was talking about the house. He sees clearly at this point that the Dems have to make a choice, do they want to support Obama on this or do they want to be competitive in 2014 in house races. Narc, one of the most interesting new bits I ever heard was one BBC journalist interviewing another after Kosovo. The journo being interviewed had been in country for weeks before the war started, and stayed through the end. The guy in London doing the interview for some reason had no idea what his colleague was going to say. When the in country reported explained there had been no ethnic cleansing in Kosovo until after Clinton announced the US would attack, the guy in London was stunned. He asked basically the same question three times trying to get a different answer. You would think that an American president lying to his country to start a war would have been big news, but the BBC were big Kosovo war boosters, so that interview got quietly forgotten.

Ig/CecilT-- the DD nonsense about 9/11 is further proof of the Left's refusal/inability (whatever) to deal with facts and reality. For them, there is only the NARRATIVE. Truth and facts mean nothing. The Narrative says that 9/11 happened in 2001 so it's Bush'e fault. Bush responded by retaliating against AQ/Mullah Omar and smashed the Taliban regime that protected AQ in Afghan and established an integrated intel/drone-special forces warfare system that kept AQ at bay and prevented any further mass terrorism in the USA -- to this day-- and the Left sez in response to those facts... I was based out of Pristina for several months, traveling throughout the Regional Centres prior to the bombing effort.

Many Kosovars supported our KVM. When we returned to Pristina from Macedonia (after the emergency evacuation on the eve of the bombing) most of the Kosovars were gone.

My shop conducted a deliberate emergency destruction of all papers, and removed all of our hard-drives (and those in the ops section). What we did not destroy in place, we carried south. The finance guys left their hard-drives and the servers for the mission were as well, left in place.

Summary: The pay records for all of the locals were on those finance and server harddrives, the Serbs were able to simply check the databases and the "LIST" names, addresses, family etc was ready for them.

Much more efficient, I am sure, from their view.

There is no symbology in this war. making it further confusing. But there is a tremendous amount of propaganda.
