The NY Times reports that upgrades to the 'glitchy' Healthcare.fail website are not uniformly helpful. This is a laugher:
Insurers reported two weeks ago that they were receiving multiple enrollments and cancellations for the same person. To address this concern, the government put a time stamp on each transaction, so insurers would know which one occurred last.
Timestamps! This is breakthrough stuff! But wait...
But the stamp shows the time the files were sent to insurers, and the government sends all the files at the same time once a day, so multiple transactions are shown as having occurred at precisely the same moment. In these cases, insurers said, it is hard to tell whether a consumer meant to enroll or to cancel an enrollment.
Ms. Bataille, the spokeswoman for HealthCare.gov, said, “We are actively working on” the issues.
Maybe loop in a random number generator...
it is hard to tell whether a consumer meant to enroll or to cancel an enrollment.
Just sign 'em up, makes the numbers look better.

Time stamps on the files, but not on the records in the files? Gov employees are even stupider than Pitzer grads.

Did the timestamp have Larry or Moe's signature? I don't think Curley can write his name so we can eliminate him from the mix for sure.

LOL
This EDI problem is just one of the billions of little hiccups that are occurring. Any bets the data mapping is absolutely horrendous, also? Has to be if the EDI is, as stated, sending bad data. EDI is relatively easy - if the data are uniform. If not, no amount of washing it through a translation table is gonna clean it up.

According to Marilyn Tavenner everything is "hunky-dory" but she won't tell Camp how many are actually enrolled. 90% of those who go on the websites have a wonderful, timely experience:)
At least Camp is zeroing in on the 20-30 year old metric that Tavenner can't answer. Looks to be another worthless exercise of extracting any information out of this regime. It like hard rock mining not bauxite.

I am unable adequately to express how much I am loving this.
On the old thred I posted from. NY Post article that says three-fourths of NY doctors are not taking Obamacare patients because they can't tell how much they will get paid.
I'm rooting for utter chaos.

DoT-- well, you'll get your chaos. The Legacy Media are beginning to get out the $$ details of ObummerCare-- the commenters' projection of what happens to rates for pre-insured --IN EXCHANGECARE POOLS-- when the immortals don't sign up (and play catch me if you can with the tax) the Exchange pool rates will rise significantly. Ed Morrissey links to some LM reports: http://hotair.com/archives/2013/10/29/cbs-insurers-backing-out-of-the-obamacare-exchange-markets/

We have the experience that our family practice was bigfooted by the hospital. The former practice is being overwhelmed with calls.I just left a (bitchy) message and asked what is the situation? Is my provider still at the practice? Our situation is not related to insurance, and we have other options, but this is just a mess. When I called,I was advised to call 911 if I had an emergency,ha. Otherwise please hold.

The 'A' team needs a new captain.
This could be genuinely repentant, but I am suspicious she’s dressing for Halloween.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/28/nsa-surveillance-dianne-feinstein-opposed-allies
“he chair of the Senate intelligence committee, who has been a loyal defender of the National Security Agency, dramatically broke ranks on Monday, saying she was “totally opposed” to the US spying on allies and demanding a total review of all surveillance programs.
California Democratic senator Dianne Feinstein strongly criticised the NSA’s monitoring of the calls of friendly world leaders such as German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Feinstein, who has steadfastly defended the NSA’s mass surveillance programs, added that both Barack Obama and members of her committee, which is supposed to received classified briefings, had been kept in the dark about operations to target foreign leaders.”
"The former official said the intelligence committees receive lengthy and detailed descriptions every year about all NSA programs, including surveillance. "They're not small books. They're about the size of those old family photo albums that were several inches thick. They're hundreds of pages long."
A senior congressional aide said, "It's an absolute joke to think she hasn't been reading the signals intelligence intercepts as Chairman of Senate Intelligence for years."
The former official added that the "bottom line question is where was the Senate Intelligence Committee when it came to their oversight of these programs? And what were they being told by the NSA, because if they didn't know about this surveillance, that would imply they were being lied to."
A spokesperson for Feinstein did not respond to a request for more details in time for publication. And a spokesperson for Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the intelligence committee's vice chairman, said the senator had no comment at this time."

Very odd that this is happening now. Much angst over it. What's coming?

IMO publicly calling for ObummerCare delay-- in full-- is agood tactic. Obummer will say NO!!, Response: 'OK, if that's your final word', Dems own it in full for '14 elections.

I guess we now know why they couldn't report the number of people enrolled.

BOE-The gal with the facelift (aka Marilyn Tavenner) said such reports on the breakdown of enrollees will come mid November.
Posted by: glasater | October 29, 2013 at 11:37 AM
Ol' Marilyn looks like she played goalie on a dart team.
Posted by: Danube of Thought | October 29, 2013 at 12:12 PM
BOE and glasater:
There are no good numbers to report ,hence we have to wait until mid-November for them to invent some in order to fool the American people again about how great the program is. Don't these liars have a conscience? How can they bloviate this rot without at least throwing up while they state it?

Think about it: the kind of coverage you get is no longer a matter between you and the insurers competing for your business. What must be covered is now established by the central government in Washington. My guess is that that will be true forever.

They have been doing that slowly for years. Health insurance used to be structured so that males and females were priced separately, until the womyn's movement noticed that womyn were charged more and the feds mandated 'equality' and womyn's rates went up to match men's. Smart shoppers, eh?
Ditto for banding, risk pools, and lots of other stuff that used to allow insurers to better price and gauge their risk.

US Healthcare outlays:
Total - $1,263 trillion
Men - $555.9 billion
Women - $707.4 billion
Equal rating makes perfect sense in Rainbow Unicorn Land.
