daddy

the doodlemum was great.

Concur. Very fun drawings!

I like to take my car to the Audi dealership because they'll then get a guy to drive me wherever I want to go to wait (usually Ala Moana shopping center) and pick me up when I phone to say I've finished shopping. If I hang around their place they have wifi, free Starbucks, deep comfy leather sofas, and send a guy out to bring in my lunch. Last time there they gave me an Audi cap and Audi t-shirt

What the Hey?!?

A(B),

Next time I come visit, let's take your car into the shop together:)

Gus

Hey Henry!! Congrats on a great win. I hope you saw that I gave you and your Cardinals some "Props" a few days ago!! We need to have beers or lunch!! SOOOOON.

Gus

I loved it when John Kerry Kohn Heinz called Lambeau Field Lambert Field. Obama called Comiskey Field ....Kaminsky Park.

henry

Thanks Gus! Lunch or beers sounds good to me, I'll call you tomorrow. (That game required lots of beer, especially the ninth!)

Gus

Henry, I'm up for the Packers game. Call me and I'll explain, but I'll be quite close to your office tomorrow evening.

Gus

Henry, the Packers play at 7:30. I'm going to be about 2 miles west of your office at kick-off. There are plenty of places to hunker down, if you're around!!

henry

Gus, I'll be at home tomorrow evening. Probably asleep by half time.

Gus

Ok Henry, but do call me tomorrow. I'd love to chat and see what's new!!! I had a friend of TED's at my business this week.

henry

OK Gus. will call after noon (& Church).

Gus

Excellent Henry. Hope to chat tomorrow!!

mad jack

Worst call ever!

No Sox player should ever be allowed to throw to third base!

Right-O, Daddy. We can both leave wearing our Audi identity clothing and ask if they'd mind installing a Karaoke set up for our next visit. So what if an oil change and lube costs $500? It'll be worth every red sou.

OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner.

Rule 2.00 (Obstruction) Comment: If a fielder is about to receive a thrown ball and if the ball is in flight directly toward and near enough to the fielder so he must occupy his position to receive the ball he may be considered “in the act of fielding a ball.” It is entirely up to the judgment of the umpire as to whether a fielder is in the act of fielding a ball. After a fielder has made an attempt to field a ball and missed, he can no longer be in the “act of fielding” the ball. For example: an infielder dives at a ground ball and the ball passes him and he continues to lie on the ground and delays the progress of the runner, he very likely has obstructed the runner.

7.06 When obstruction occurs, the umpire shall call or signal “Obstruction.”

(a) If a play is being made on the obstructed runner, or if the batter-runner is obstructed before he touches first base, the ball is dead and all runners shall advance, without liability to be put out, to the bases they would have reached, in the umpire's judgment, if there had been no obstruction. The obstructed runner shall be awarded at least one base beyond the base he had last legally touched before the obstruction.

Good morning, all!

It's been 3 days now since Alaska's Democratic Senator Mark Begich joined with 9 other Dems to call for a delay in the implementation of ObamaCare, so I decided tonight to examine my local rag to read the particulars.

And what do ya' know? In neither the Anchorage Daily News, nor the Fairbanks News-Miner, nor the Juneau Empire, is there a single word about Mark Begich calling for a delay in implementing ObamaCare, nor as far as I can tell, for any other Dem doing the same.

Those are the 3 biggest Newspapers in the State.

It's noteworthy to contrast that silence with the incident you'll all recall from a few years back, of the National Media sending out invitations to millions of citizens for their help in reading the E-mails of former Alaskan Republican Governor Sarah Palin, years after Palin was out of office.

I recall George Bush Senior saying we should "Annoy the Media---Vote Bush." Well I think that a better argument can be made that we need to elect Conservative Republicans simply to force the Media to do it's damn job.

It is obvious that the media is currently so complicit with the Democratic Party, and so fearful of repercussions to themselves if they did do their job, that they couldn't report honestly on our elected Democrat political leaders even if they wanted to (which they don't).

It follows that the only people that they are interested in reporting on are people that they oppose politically, and people that they are not afraid to report on. Those would be Conservative Republicans.

So in Alaska we need to vote for Begich's Conservative opponent, whoever it winds up being, and Nationwide we need to vote Conservative for the same reason, to get our Media to do some actual reporting on our elected political leaders so that we can find out what the heck our elected officials are doing and demand some accountability.

G'nite.

James D.

Michelle's College buddy...

They were at Princeton at the same time. Did they know each other?

Does it matter?

First, government officials have the duty to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Even if they never knew each other, it should have been taken into account.

Second, do you think the Dems - or the press - would have any interest in the details if the story was "Company headed by Laura Bush's sorority mate receives billion dollar no-bid contract to overhaul the health care system." ? That headline would be enough, and it would be all LIV's would hear about the matter. No defense or explanation would get one microsecond of airtime.

Obama and the Dems deserve precisely the same in this case.

Miss Marple

Food stamp accounts will be reduced November 1. This is because the bump up in amounts mandated by that swell stimulus act back in 2009 expires.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/26/Cut-in-Food-Stamps-Imminent

This will mean additional burdens on food pantries, because a lot of these people have no idea this will happen, plus since 2009 food prices have skyrocketed.

Many of the people who visit my food pantry are the working poor, and a lot are on short hours because of Obamacare. If there is a food pantry near you or one associated with your church, please consider giving them a few bucks or some canned goods. This is goig to be a hard winter for a lot of families.

I SO agree with this!

Daddy:How can the ump make the call that the player would have made it to home safe w/o the interference before the play is completed? It's not like Willy Mays was running. It was a guy with a bum leg. Despite what Joe Torry and the umps said the rule does call for judgment and they jumped the gun by calling the play dead before the runner even made it a few feet. The way the rule seems to be interpreted by MBL even if the ball rolled a few feet away from the third baseman and he went to field it the runner would be awarded home! Dumb rule if that is really the case. Just my two cents from a totally unbiased Sox fan!

Clarice's Pieces is great today.

Obama and the Dems deserve precisely the same in this case.

Exactly, James. Some people worry about accusing Dems without incontrovertible evidence. Harry Reid had no qualms about falsely accusing Romney over tax filings, and might very well have swung the election in the process.

It's a knife fight.

Extraneus

Good one, Clarice.

Janet - Don't run with sissors

This is interesting - http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/2013/10/21/why-we-should-legalize-murder-for-hire/

"Why shouldn't we give women the choice to kill their partners?"

"Yet this is not a decision that anyone else can make for a woman. It is her marriage; only she can decide when it must end."

Miss Marple

Clarice, that was just so good on so many levels!

I see these kids all the time. All are gripping about their degrees which did them no good, and the high cost of student loans.

I consider the entire college-loan-unemployment cycle a giant scam in which the government puts kids on the hook for worthless degrees in order to bankroll the high life of college administrators and tenured department heads.

We need a "truth in education" law like "truth in lending", with verifiable employment statistics for most majors along with average entry salaries. And the document must be signed and notarized by the college president.

Clarice

Thanks. Good morning, JOM!!

Jack is Back!

Clarice,

Comedy gold but also probably too close to reality in many circumstances. Are you sure Bhutanese is a language like Austrian?

Janet - Don't run with sissors

It's a knife fight.

Yes. And telling women that the Republicans are gonna take away your birth control...or spouting lies about what some Republican said about Obama.

Lies & innuendo ~ SOP for Dems.

Clever "Pieces," Clarice. In my bleary-eyed waiting-for-the-coffee-to-brew state I read "underserved communities" as "undeserved communities." I guess I'm a racist.

*Bill in AZ*

From a John Fund article linked at American Thinker - ValJar:

“I think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. . . . He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability — the extraordinary, uncanny ability — to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. . . . So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. . . . He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.”

Anyone who can read and is capable of reading history - and still believes in Communism - is dumber than shit. And that's about all there is to say about ValJar and Zero.

Ha, jimmyk, I did the same - had to read it twice.

Has anyone considered that at the cost of Obamacare, $678 Million, that each and every person in the U.S. could have been given $2 million for lifetime medical expenses. Only stipulation(law)in one sentence would be the money could only be used for medical healthcare. One sentence, everyone on the same playing field, totally equal. Done.

BillinAZ: Saw this yesterday at NRO's The Corner:

One GOP congressman said the Obama administration’s stonewalling in congressional investigations always seem to lead to one White House official: senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Representative Jason Chaffetz wouldn’t be surprised if Jarrett’s involvement also played a part in Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s delay in providing requested documents to the House Oversight Committee.

“She seems to have her tentacles into every issue and every topic,” the Utah Republican, who serves on the House Oversight Committee, said on the Laura Ingraham Show on Friday. “Her name ultimately always comes up.”

ValJar, the Wizard-ess of Oz WH behind the curtain.

Janet - Don't run with sissors

wow, kave...& that's just for the Obamacare website that doesn't work. :(

Miss Marple

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/white-house-tries-to-rally-congressional-democrats-in-support-of-obamacare/2013/10/26/3eb5ba6e-3d93-11e3-b6a9-da62c264f40e_story.html

This is actually a story about how the White House finally realized they had a major problem on their hands. What I find most interesting is that the president seems to have been a bystander in the reversal, which was engineered by Axelrod, Plouffe, and Gibbs, none of whom are currently in the White House.

Extraneus

$678M is just two dollars a person. Two measly dollars. Who wouldn't donate two measly dollars to CGI and all the pizza and Mountain Dew those HHS heroes needed?

kave

Ooops! Sorry bad math, too early, not enough coffee.

AliceH

$628 million divided by 300 million is $2.00, not $2 million.

On the other hand, $628million is merely the cost of the website/data hub/app. The cost of the PRODUCT itself is many millions times that.

Ignatz

-- He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.--

Do those sound like the words of a sane public servant?
They are either the ravings of a star struck, fanatical follower of a political Elmer Gantry or the calculated cynical hagiography of a behind the scenes puppet master.

No sober, normal person thinks or speaks like that about a politician.

AliceH

My parents used to say boredom was a sign of a dull mind.

Then they'd assign the "I'm bored" malefactor a half dozen extra nasty chores to give them something to do to keep busy. They were givers.

Stephanie

Boredom is a sign of a lack of imagination and a compunction to only do things that others have shown you how to do. You know, like sheep. Why do you think kids are so fidgety today? No one wants them to express their creativity (unless along well laid out paths - and that ain't imagination), so they act just like the sheep they've become. Follow follow, follow... wait for a new direction, follow follow follow. No directions and they are immobilized cause they can't find something to follow on their own.
