The Times covers and FrontPageMag mocks, Hillarity!'s record at State.
The Times article is filled with punchlines, but I will highlight this creative use of polling data:
She took on the job at a time when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had given rise to widespread anti-Americanism abroad. In 2006, favorable opinions of the United States had fallen in most of the 15 countries surveyed, including France, Germany, Russia and Japan, according to the Pew Global Attitudes Project.
President Obama’s victory in 2008 and Mrs. Clinton’s frequent personal visits helped mend tensions, and by mid-2009 favorable opinions of the United States in Western Europe, Asia and Latin America were almost as high as before President George W. Bush took office.
Mid 2009?!? What about after she had spent a few years in office, hmm? Don't ask:
Global approval of President Barack Obama’s policies has declined significantly since he first took office, while overall confidence in him and attitudes toward the U.S. have slipped modestly as a consequence.
...
There remains a widespread perception that the U.S. acts unilaterally and does not consider the interests of other countries. In predominantly Muslim nations, American anti-terrorism efforts are still widely unpopular. And in nearly all countries, there is considerable opposition to a major component of the Obama administration’s anti-terrorism policy: drone strikes. In 17 of 20 countries, more than half disapprove of U.S. drone attacks targeting extremist leaders and groups in nations such as Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.
Geez, if the Times had a subscription to Google they could unearth stuff like that. Times are tough...
In that sickening ABC polyamory advertisement one of the women quotes Hillary -
"DEVI: We share life together. I've got a son. It takes a village to raise a child and it feels really good to have that kind of support."
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2013/11/27/abc-preaches-gospel-polyamory-touts-saving-power-threesomes
Apparently the village has to have sex with her husband too. Raise her son & have sex with her husband.

Then we will told that we lacked faith and that now all is well.
I see Fox is falling into the trap and making it all about the web site relaunch.
Krugman was going on and on today about how he tried it and how it worked perfectly and how all of us nay-sayers would have to eat crow. So I figure this is another one of his bait and switch deals like the birth certificate.
One could hope this will turn out like the Chicago Olympics bid, but there are too many software gurus who sent mercenaries to help.

Got a letter from my insurance co today. Does it confirm my reset renewal date to Dec2013, as I confirmed by telephone -- twice?
It does not.
It tells me they are confirming my "current" policy expires March 2014, but they'll "transition" me to their most "comparable" plan (no details other than premiums are doubled) unless I tell them otherwise, and that I can then just use the Exchange.
What a cock up.
And the mail came after the letter-sending offices were already closed. And the general services number had a recording telling me their closed for the holidays, opening again on Monday.
Grrrr. I'll get it straightened out, but jeez. What's with the multiple offices/multiple stories thing anyway?

I just read something on Facebook about how Clinton had an arrangement with Ross Perot - he had been awarded some contract by Clinton, and that was the reason he ran as a 3rd party. When things started going too well for Perot he feigned a crack-up. The point was that we can expect Hillary to do the same thing, and the suggested candidate was the libertarian guy in VA who made sure Cuccinelli didn't win.

Cuccinelli crashed on the rocks here in Northern Virginia and not sure Sarvis made much of a difference. I think most of Sarvis support would have stayed home or went with McAwful. The big issue was the money Tom Steyer pumped in to make sure that not a drop of oil is looked for in the Chesapeake. In NoVa he had a brutal campaign against Cuccinelli, and C along with the GOP, had no response [why not an ad with a creepy dem going through your pantry and bathroom and garage...C had no response to "he's a creep wnating to be in your bedroom" and an easy one is "well creey dems want to be in your bedroom, kitchen, garage, kids classroom...] oh well.

The question that ought to be asked of this pompous jackass, is after 5 years of hosting his stupid TV show, and having a national soapbox to explain his concept of what Republicans are and what they ought to be doing, can he name a single instance, one single example, of himself having driven any Dem listener into the arms of the Republicans? Megyn Kelly has been covering student debt. A black kid finally said what I have been griping about for several years:
It is wrong for departments to encourage a kid to borrow money for a major when they KNOW that the employment rate for that major is very low.
This is the biggest racket (outside the Obama administration) in this country. Kids are encouraged to borrow money from the government to take worthless majors and assume huge amounts of debt. The colleges make huge amounts of money, the government makes a huge profit on the loans, and the students have their futures burdened with the debt.
These debts are assumed by students who are short years removed from high school. They are lured into these majors by department heads who use student counts to justify salary and budget increases.
NO ONE provides them with information about their employment prospects. Parents are often naive about this, plus the students are allowed to borrow without any co-signors, and they can also borrow for living expenses, which is how many of them can afford to go to Acapulco or Paris on spring break.
You all will read my rants about this about every six months. It's an evil scheme and I wish someone would really investigate it. Megyn Kelly is the first I have seen to do a long discussion of this situation.

Just got to that Politico story you guys were talking about about how our brains aren't wired well enough to make good decisions about ObamaCare.
Then I see Insty posts a story from the Journal "Nature" about Science Fraud
Retractions of scientific papers have increased about tenfold during the past decade, with many studies crumbling in cases of high-profile research misconduct that ranges from plagiarism to image manipulation to outright data fabrication.
Well that prompted me to look into one of the fraud cases mentioned; prof's doctoring data in Social Psychology research. So that led me to this story in Psychology Today: What's Wrong with Social Psychology?
An insider's view on a (slightly) damaged academic discipline
It has not been a good year for my academic discipline, social psychology. Since last August there have been three academic fraud cases detected, leading to the resignation of three professors... Is it sheer coincidence that these three high profile fraud cases all concern experimental social psychologists?...An example is a study conducted by Stapel showing (supposedly) that eating meat makes you selfish.
My overall point is that it isn't just ClimateGate where these Lefty profs are lying like hell in efforts to convince the public that we aren't smart enough on our own to make good decisions about Global Warming. They want us to believe that we need them to tell us what to do about ObamaCare and just about every other facet of life.

La Tourette, but it's a rather large category,

Tomorrow is the annual religious rite of Michigan-Ohio State.
Unfortunately, even though they're going back to the traditional noon start, the game was traditionally played the Saturday before Thanksgiving so that the students could attend before going off to be with their families. There was an article in the WSJ a few weeks ago talking about how attendance is down at college football games. The reason for it is no mystery to me: In the pursuit of television dollars the schools have gotten away from the concept of the games being part of student life. College football used to be almost exclusively on Saturday afternoons and when you start jacking around with that, the students will find alternative things to do.

Hilarious. I read the first Anne post, (Nick) and I knew a Jew Rant was coming. Sure enough.

Hey Gus, hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

CH,
the game was traditionally played the Saturday before Thanksgiving
Yeah, I know. Traditionally it has been played on or about my birthday. The week separation now is very odd. So much for traditional rites...

rich,
Still thinking about but he's friendly with others too.
If you have the time, you would have no better friend once he chooses you. It does take time, though, and I get a sense that you are rather busy.

The capability to screw up something that works seems endless, the NCAA could mess up a one car caravan, I give you how they botched the investigation into the Canes,

They didn't handle the Penn State thing very well either.

DrJ, someone still can't name a non-racist troll. Plus, water is wet.

What was that senseless rant for - to show that you're still alive?
Oogie oogie google, da da goo goo now eat your Pablum and shut up! The nurse will be around to remove your bed pan and to give you your bedtime meds and to tuck you in soon.

henry,
Plus, water is wet.
Have I ever mentioned that I've done some work with superhydrophobic surfaces? It's true, actually. In that case water is not wet, at least as far as the surface goes. :)

DrJ, boundary effects confound me.... The last water related study I did was measuring the H bonding of ethanol - water mixtures (my senior project). Of course, after a ml or two the reagent grade ethanol was useless! Had to cut it with 151 for happy hour punch. : )

BB Key,
I was class of 77, bar-tended Freshman year at the Bacchae, then Sophomore/Junior years at Town Hall, and graduated waiting tables at Daryl's 1890 as a Senior. Don't remember much else about the place except that we hated the guys guts 6 miles down the road:)

Hey Henry, I've been meaning to call you, but good Lord, I've been busy. We need to get together soon.

Gus, I have an acoustic now... Whenever you catch your breath.

What he is saying Henry is that he is as slimy as you are.
Either that, or he is offering to give you a blow job.
